Unknown Or Other problem #1

Dashboard on the driver sided cracked into 2 pieces. I am not the only one who have had this issues. I found quite numbers of owner have the same problem. This is not the quality you expect from $50k vehicle, I believe it is due to "poorly" finished job. Gm simply refuses to take full responsibility and forces me to pay so called, "deductible". I believe the NHTSA should look into this matter. Thank you.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

The dash on my 2007 Suburban cracked on the driver's side in front of the instrument bezel area. This same exact crack has appeared on hundreds if not thousands of Suburban, tahoe, yukon, yukon xl, and silverado trucks for this vehicle cycle. Also on other similar dash panels an additional crack has appeared by the passenger airbag. Recently gm has redesigned the dash so that it will not crack in these areas, but they have failed to issue any sort of recall to the current owners with defective dashes and fix the dash that could pose a safety risk if the vehicle is involved in an accident.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

I received a letter dated July 2, 2012 that indicated that the tires I previously purchased from pepboys were defective and could blow apart while driving. The tires had dot serial number ut t6 pa7. So, I took the letter and vehicle back to pepboys but they were not aware of the recall. In any event, they did replace all four tires free of charge. However, it seems that are still selling the defective tires becase the tires they installed on my vehicle, for the second time, had dot serial ut t6 pa7. So, it appears that I am still driving on the highway with defective tires.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

Driving the car on city street, let off gas to slow down, engine shudders, the instrument console flashes, indicates engine power decreasing, the radio stops working, the vehicle loses power, the stabilitrac indicates it needs to be serviced, gives rear camera/towing warning, the engine dies, brakes are lost. Immediately after engines dies starter will not crank. The car will start again after several minutes. Check engine light is on. After a drive of about 4 miles parked car and started next morning--check engine light is off. Engine quitting and no brakes could be dangerous. Intermittent problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

The passenger side rear door, interior door handle has peeled. My son lacerated his finger on the peeling chrome plating. This seems to be a common problem among gm owners and an obvious poor manufacture in several models with a definite need to replace all the interior handles. This is a hazard that has been brought to your attention on other models and I am unable to see a resolution. It appears all the investigations have been closed.

Unknown Or Other problem #6

I have a chevy Suburban 2005 my speedometer has stopped working. I also have a 2005 duramax that this has happened to. I would like to see a full blown recall placed on all GMC/chevy vehicles. Apparently these are hundreds of thousands people with this issue across the u. S. / world according to forums I have been on. While there is a class action lawsuit out there for a very limited group of GMC vehicles, making lawyers rich. Instead of taking care of the people whom make this world actually run. This issue needs to seriously looked into. My next step is to get the media involved showing how again the average consumer can get screwed by the big companies. I am not keeping my mouth shut about this. Thank you.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

Inside door handle chrome is peeling and has cut our hands on several occations.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

Failure of brake line and loss of fluid with no warning light until pedal went all the way to the floor. Mechanic has reported severe corrosion of the brake line, calipers, spare tire assembly and no access to the brake line area above the spare tire without cutting the spare tire holder assembly out. Estimate is over $1000 to repair. Brake failure without a warning - very scary.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

The vehicle is one week old with 1200 miles on the clock. The propshafts are serverely rusting. The yokes are rusted. Dealer said gm refused to further perform repair and consider it normal.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

On my Chevrolet Suburban 2004; speedometer failed. My speedometer does not work any more. It no longer calculates speed. It is stuck pointing (resting) past fastest label of 120mph.

Unknown Or Other problem #11

The door lock actuator does not work on the driver's door.

Unknown Or Other problem #12

Cracks on dashboard next to passenger airbag and above the instrument panel on the left side running across the hump. Always kept in covered garage and maintained as per manufacturer suggested cleaning procedures. Crack on passenger side has widened to the point where the air bag cover makes a rattling noise, apparently due to vibration of the whole part.

Unknown Or Other problem #13

Failure of power lock actuator on rear door. Door fails to lock and unlock as designed when vehicle is put in or taken out of gear. This appears to be a common failure on these vehicles from what I have been lead to believe and to date I'm told gm is not doing any widespread recalls to address this quality and safety problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

The hinge on the rear hatch glass came unbonded from the glass. This can probably cause glass movement and shattering at highway speeds.

Unknown Or Other problem #15

The speedometer reads erroneously high and often exceeds 100 mph readings while my gps reads at 70mph. There is no time at which indicated speed readings can be trusted.

Unknown Or Other problem #16

While accelerating at 40 mph the vehicle started to accelerate but then it made a clicking noise and slow until speedometer read 15 mph then I was able to accelerate again but gm onstar and the dealer have no information for this problem and cannot duplicate.

Unknown Or Other problem #17

I'm filing a complaint because of an issue with the instrument panel cluster. My car has had this issue for the past few months. Anytime the car goes over bumps(no matter how big or small the bump is, it could just be a crack in the cement) the gauges on the dash will go crazy, sensors will so off. Specifically the speedometer will stop working or go all the way to 120 mph. The fuel and oil guages will not be accurate (for example it will say the tank is empty when it's full). But the most disturbing problem is that while driving no matter how fast the anti theft will go off and shut the engine off in a matter of seconds and the car loses all power. A few times I have been driving 55 mph on the expressway and it will just shut off. So far I have been lucky enough not to get rear ended, I don't know when my luck will run out. There was a recall on the car for this problem but it was only until 2010 or if the odometer was between 70,001 and 80,000 miles. My car is eight years old and over 100,000 miles. We bought this car used in 2009 from a chevy dealership (dick wickstrom's Chevrolet). When we talked to the dealership about this and complained that it wasn't fixed when they had it, they said it wasn't having problems at that time. It will cost approximately $600 to $800 to fix. I don't have the money to fix it or to buy another car so I must continue to drive a defective unsafe car. If a part is defective how can that expire. Gm should be responsible for the safety of the cars they sell and to fix any defective parts no matter how old the car is. I hope that you can help us as I need a dependable safe car and can't afford to buy another one or pay out the kind of money it will take to fix this one when I feel this should have been taken care of by the manufacturer because it is a part that was defective no matter how long it took to go bad. Thank you.

Unknown Or Other problem #18

Noticed a small crack on the passenger side dashboard near airbag. Crack spread and now have a triangular shaped hole in that spot. Another crack, much larger, has now appeared on the driver's side of the dashboard.

Unknown Or Other problem #19

While driving at approximately 65 mph on an interstate, the sun roof on my 2004 Chevrolet Suburban ripped off narrowly missing the car following us. The sun roof was closed at time time of the incident. Other than what sounded like an air leak, there was no warning or other indication of problems. The sun roof has rarely been opened since the car was purchased and definitely had not been opened in the past 2 years at least.

Unknown Or Other problem #20

I own a 2008 chevy Suburban ltz with 37k miles. The rear door lock actuators failed at 36k miles. The faulty door lock actuators prevent locking or unlocking of the doors from the drivers seat. As I have small children, I feel it is a safety issue to drive with unlocked doors. After researching this issue I discovered the problem to be widespread on a number of Chevrolet vehicles. . Unknown Or Other problem #21

Suburban loses power and engine dies while driving. No warnings before shut off and no codes after shut off. After waiting 5-10 minutes, vehicle cranks and runs again. Randomly, it may shut off again in 1-2 miles or run for days without the problem. This is very disturbing when one is on the interstate running 70 mph and your engine shuts off. You lose power steering and brakes as you try to make it to the emergency lane. Someone is going to get killed!!! the battery died after several attempts to restart yesterday. The dealer cannot identify why the engine shuts off, so no repairs have ben made.

Unknown Or Other problem #22

2007 chevy Suburban! the chrome handles are coming apart and slice my 6 year old daughters hand.

Unknown Or Other problem #23

Transfer case had to be replaced before 70000 miles due to bearing. Passenger air went out and only blew hot after a battery change, had to replace entire air system. Air system went out again with 2nd battery replacement, but dealer was able to "reset" it. Speedometer only works sometimes. Binding noise in steering column , has been lubed numerous times while waiting for chevy to issue a recall according to dealer. This vehicle is driven under 15000 miles a year.

Unknown Or Other problem #24

As has been reported by many others, it appears that Chevrolet's problems regarding the instrument cluster in their light trucks extend beyond the 2003 and 2004 model years for which they were "offering" to extend the warranty to 70,000 miles. The speedometer in our Suburban also began reading erratically about a month ago and has now pegged itself and is stuck at 120 mph. Fortunately we did not have any incidents when the speedometer failed. However, I believe Chevrolet may have a continuing problem and more should be done to correct this very important safety component. Additionally, I would also like to mention that while I was searching for other incident reports on this matter, I discovered that the scope of this problem may be masked by the fact that it is applicable to numerous different models and years. It might be helpful for you to compile the reports for all models of the Suburban, yukon and silverado trucks and their GMC clones for the 2003 to 2005 or 2006 model years. I believe that if you combine these different models, you will see that the scope of this problem is quite larger than it might appear for each of these models separately.

Unknown Or Other problem #25

Instrument cluster failed after extrem cold tempatures, fuel guage, tempature guage, oil pressure gauge and batttery charging system gauge. Gm knows about the faulty gauges and as of this date has not made a recall of the instrument panel. Considering all legal remedies afforded by law as this is a problem that can be rectified by gm by replacing the aformentioned faulty factory equipment.

Unknown Or Other problem #26

Driving down the road one day and reduced engine light comes on. My Suburban slows to about 35mph and will not go any faster. This occurs about 15 times a month. I am concerned about people driving behind me when it comes to a sudden slow if I can not get off the road. We have brought it to a dealership 3 times. They did not know what was wrong. We have changed the throttle pedal positioning sensor, map sensor, crank sensor, knock sensor, spark plugs, spark plug wires. Nothing has worked.

Unknown Or Other problem #27

1999 chevy tahoe with very bad brakes. Purchased vehicle 1/6/08. 1 prior owner which lived in texas. When purchased veh. Had a history rpt that showed all routine maintenance was done. We had vehicle for a couple of days noticed brakes didn't work well. Took back. Dealer replaced m/c and fluid. . Brakes weren't better. 2-3 months later took to another shop. They were amazed at the rusty brake fluid they said that doesn't happen even when fluid isn't chgd or flushed in two yrs. Cldnt find any probs pads etc. Was fine. They cgd fluid of coarse. 2-3 mo later same thing. Recently read about recall 05068 NHTSA 05v379000. I have been in two accidents. Not sure why gm hasn't incl. Texas as covered state. The most commercial salt producing states are texas michigan w. Virg. Kansas. States that do salt mining today are texas kansas louisiana ohio new york canada. All states are mentioned in recall except texas??? aren't they saying salt on the roads in extreme weather states is part of what caused the problem to the speed sensor/abs. What do I need to do to get the state of texas to be incl. In the recall so I can get my brakes fixed by gm accidents were on 9/26/08 and 12/24/08. No deaths. Some injuries.

Unknown Or Other problem #28

All door acuators faulty. Dealer replaced 1 rear door at purchase (used). Over next 12 months all have failed. I have no way to lock or unlock doors except manually . (keyfob remote and driver door not working). This is a safety issue that Chevrolet should fixed regardless of warrenty. Please pursue with gm/Chevrolet as their customer service response is to take to the dealer. $250/door.

Unknown Or Other problem #29

Coating of radio buttons is peeling or coming off.

Unknown Or Other problem #30

Paint peeling on various parts of my 2000 Chevrolet Suburban.

Unknown Or Other problem #31

On my 2004 chevy Suburban the housing unit for the spare tire will not release the spare tire to come down, so you can fix a flat. I believe this is a safety issue because if you can't get the spare tire down, you can't change the flat--& you will be stuck on the highway with children--we had never used the spare tire before--but when we needed it, it was inoperable.

Unknown Or Other problem #32

Multiple complaints. - tachometer does not work correctly - does not work some of the times; will stick in different places, etc; date of failure: Feb 2008 - steering column has audible/physical thumbing/banging when turning left or right - date of failure: 02/01/2008 (32,000 miles); - a/c sometimes goes to blowing heat - when turned off and on it will switch to a/c - not always - sometimes turning auto off and then on will fix problem - date of failure first noticed 06/01/2006; - driver side seat heater - when I turn it on I smell electrical wires burning - date of failure - 03/06/08; - a/c - there is a high pitched noise (like vacuum) coming from the right rear of the vehicle when a/c is on and the auto is at idle - does not do it always - this noise is very audible inside and outside of vehicle - date of failure: 09/26/2005;.

Unknown Or Other problem #33

I have a 2001 Suburban with 65000 miles that intermitently stalls while driving and doesn't immediately restart. The problem has occurred in hot and cold weather, and occurs while driving at highway speeds, neighborhood speeds, and slowing to stop speeds. Usually the vehicle re-starts after 10 minutes, but it has taken as long as 45 minutes before it will start. The vehicle also intermitently will not start after being parked for variable lengths of time. The vehicle has been to two different dealerships with the same result: can't duplicate the problem so can't fix it. I call the Chevrolet customer assistance center and they tell me to take it to a dealer for a diagnosis, which has been done multiple times. The last dealer performed complete diagnostic testing and found nothing wrong. Meanwhile, I read many articles and postings about other Suburbans exhibiting the same behavior- stalling and not starting. And meanwhile, I get to drive a vehicle that puts my family in dangerous situations. While there have been no injuries, accidents or deaths caused by this behavior, yet, I am concerned about the safety of my family while riding in a vehicle that could stall at any time, with limited control of braking and steering. Chevrolet needs to step up and take ownership of this problem and do something before people die.

Unknown Or Other problem #34

I thought you might be interested in information I have regarding the installation of a forward-facing car seat in a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban. The Suburban comes with tether anchors installed for the two outboard seats in the third row, but no anchors for the center seat in the third row and no anchors for any seats in the second row. The owner's manual says the dealer can install anchors for you. Not true! according to the representatives at the 800-number provided in the owner's manual, Chevrolet does not have permanent anchors for the second row. Instead, they have a little metal plate (it looks just like the latch plate part of the regular seat belt) that hooks into the buckle for the third row. This means several things: with a tethered child restraint in the second row, you lose a seating spot in the third row, you can't lower the third row to increase cargo space, you can't remove the third row to increase cargo space, and the tether strap does not go straight back but instead goes at an angle. The instructions for using this add-on device are unclear, but they seem to indicate that if you have three tethered child restraints in the second row, two of them must share one tether anchor for the center rear seat. The service department manager at our local dealer tried to be helpful, but he said he couldn't even help me install an after-market tether anchor because of liability reasons. I'm using the add-on device the dealer provided (actually, they gave me one and sold me another, because I needed two). Couldn't chevy just develop some instructions for dealers to use in installing a tether anchor in the floor for the second-row seating positions? I want to get the word out to other consumers before they buy this vehicle under the wrong assumptions like I did. . . Any advice? (the incident date represents the first date on which I called the chevy 800-number. ).

Unknown Or Other problem #35

The rear passenger as well as front driver and passenger side doors were not equipped door chimes. The dealer stated that there was nothing they could do. The consumer started to drive and when he made a left turn, the door swung open. The child nearly fell out of the vehicle. There were no warning chimes to alert the consumer that the door opened.

Unknown Or Other problem #36

Fuel gauge operates erratically. Shows it is full when it is only 3/4 full. While driving, the gauge changes quickly from full to 3/4 full.

Unknown Or Other problem #37

Occasionally, the radio locks out, indicating a loss of power from the battery. This has happened twice so far.

Unknown Or Other problem #38

Fuel guage operates erratically. Tank is full. Gauge starts at empty and very slowly creeps up to full as I drive along. When I come to a stop, the guage drops to empty again. Repeats behavior like this for several days, several tank fills, and 2-3 thousand miles.

Unknown Or Other problem #39

After purchasing this vehicle, we began to notice that the "door ajar" indicator seemed to be malfunctioning, and brought it to the dealership for warranty service. On 5 separate occasions, a passenger door was discovered ajar while I was driving, but there was no warning or indicator in the dash to alert this to the driver. The computer information system in the dash will indicate if the rear cargo door is ajar, but not any of the passenger doors, front, rear or driver. The service department at my dealership has informed me today that there is no such indicator designed for this vehicle. I called Chevrolet directly and was informed that I "should have considered this 'option' before I purchased my vehicle. " the dealership has confirmed to me that there is no "option" for a door ajar indicator; in fact, it isn't even available on this year's 2002 model, either. I honestly fear for the lives of my 4 children, who ride in the back seats of this vehicle every day. How can a manufacturer market this vehicle to "meet the needs of the american family" when basic, standard safety indicators weren't even included on this "top of the line" vehicle? they are leaving themselves open for a huge lawsuit when someone's child finally does fall out of the Suburban, "like a rock. ".

Unknown Or Other problem #40

Rpm & gas and gear light, would not work. Vehicle ran sluggish. Service engine light on.

Unknown Or Other problem #41

Right rear liftgate door seal has a gap of 1/4 inch about 3 inches long as delivered from manufacturer. Service manager says it is acceptable. My concern is the exhaust pipe is on the same side. Exhaust gasses could enter the vehicle. Service manager and I checked a new vehicle delivered to dealership, same condition. (tiresize: p265/70r16)( dot number: tire size: p265/70r16 ).

Unknown Or Other problem #42

Unknown Or Other problem #43

The hoist mechanism holding the spare tire of the consumer's 2000 Chevrolet Suburban corroded. As a result the consumer was unable to release the spare tire the vehicle was taken to the dealer who attempted to lubricate the hoist mechanism but was unsuccessful. The entire unit had to be replaced at the consumer's expense.

Unknown Or Other problem #44

While driving at night, the consumer was distracted when the dashboard lights heavely reflected inside view mirror. The consumer believes this is a design problem.
