Carrier/rack problems of the 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe - part 1

Dashboard cracked in several places.

Dashboard got 2 big cracks and I don't feel safe driving my Tahoe. It has been garage kept at home and work. Very cheap made dashboard.

One week after purchasing a 2010 chevy Tahoe I saw what looked like a scratch on the dash behind the steering wheel. When I looked at it closer the dash scratch was actually a crack. When I touched it the dash cracked behind the steering wheel and on the passenger side where it was not touched. Dealer told me to buy a dash cover. Not right answer after giving him $20,000. 00 a week earlier. Told me it was from the sun. The material used was of very poor quality because of all the complaints. They could have offered to install a dash cover at there expense $100. 00. Very bad dealer customer support. Will never walk in there again for anything. That is why I do not like car dealers. It could have been a good experience but they ruined it over a $100. 00 part. And a known defect. This happened while car was parked in my drive way.

I purchased my 2010 in 2011 and the dash cracked in 2012. I have taken it to my local chevy dealer twice and chevy will still not accept responsibility for its poor quality and manufacturing. A vehicle that is only two years old and had never been involved in an accident should not have cosmetic damage. This is definitely a manufacturers problem and should be replaced by the company. My truck was worth 48,000 at the time and I should not be responsible for a repair caused by poor quality of their materials. Now my vehicle is 9 years old and the air bags deployed out of nowhere when my son was driving. . . . There was no wreck or impact with anything and they deployed. The quality used by chevy is terrible and I do not plan on purchasing anything else from a company that sells over priced vehicles with cheap and faulty parts that they don't want to assume responsibility for.

Dashboard cracks over cluster also on the right side by the air bag. I'm concerned about my safety as well as others.

The front dash has cracked pretty significantly in 2 places. This occurred from the sun with no other factors coming into play. The driver seat fabric does not stay attached underneath the driver seat. Appears it is missing a clip or a poor design that does not secure lower fabric secure to the seat. The steering wheel has a clicking noise when I turn the wheel over. Not sure if it's in the steering column itself or from another piece/fabrication malfunction.

Rear window glass is no longer stable in the tracks. Windows could possibly fly out of vehicle. Fmvss 10.

I was washing my car and cleaning the interior, then noticed my dash board had a crack in it. It has grown bigger since initial finding. This is a factory defect.

My dash started cracking small at first, bumps and vibrations would increase the length and severity of the cracks, all the clips broke off, simply wiping the dash off would break chunks off. In 2017 while cleaning my Tahoe I was wiping the dash and a shard caught the side of my hand requiring stitches. While driving the dash has no support and vibrates. Depending on the type of road the vibrations are strong enough to break chunks off the dash off that fall down into the console. My dash is busted from the drivers side all the way to the passenger side. My fear is that a front impact car wreck will turn my brittle dash into shrapnel causing injury to five kids, myself and my husband. It continuously just gets worse. I have saved all the pieces that I find. It's horrible to think that if a shard can cut my deep enough to require stitches what could they do in the even of a wreck?.

The dashboard of my 2010 Tahoe has multiple cracks and is broken all over from no fault of my own. This has been an issue for many people with gm vehicles of this nature and the company won't help me repair or replace my dash. I'm scared that if I get into an accident that the airbags wont deploy or if they do, it will be with thousands of dangerous broken plastic chards! I am seeking help in this matter so that the company can understand that their product has faults and is putting consumers in risk of serious harm and injury.

The dash right by the instrument cluster on the drivers side cracked for no apparent reason other than defective materials used by gm after researching the problem . The vehicle has 31000 miles and is garage kept 95 % of the time. I spoke to my local dealer they have never heard of the problem so the cost would be on me to replace at $1000. 00. . . . Gm should fix these after all the vehicle only cost 54,000 new .

Large crack development on dash at passenger side airbag and driver side on top of cluster this is a garage kept vehicle that has less than 100 miles a month since purchasing.

The dashboard is cracked on the passenger side from the corner of the airbag cover to the air vent under the windshield. The crack was not visible when the vehicle was purchased used in may 2018 but has since appeared and grown as of July 2018 during regular city driving. We have concerns the crack may interfere with normal deployment of the airbag or cause pieces of the dash to become projected through the cabin upon airbag deployment.

My 2010 Tahoe has the notorious crack in the dash at the pasinger side air bag. This is the second time this has happened on the same vehicle. I payed for it to be replace the first time and now it has happened again. I believe this to be a extreme safety hazard to me and my family. If we where to be involved in a accident I am afraid that pieces of the dash could fly off and become projectiles injuring a member of my family.

The dash has cracks in it on the top near the airbags, next to the speaker, and above the drivers side and it make making noise. He material used to make the panel is weak and may explode if airbag goes off on passenger side.

I have a 2010 chevy Tahoe and I noticed a crack on the top of the dash. I am concerned that in the event of an accident that the air bags would deploy that the dash would send shards of plastic.

The dash has cracked behind the instrument panel and near the passenger side air bag. This leads to dash movement while in motion, which is distracting. All the clips on the front dash assembly have broken off, presumably from dash movement, which leaves it unsecured during a collision.

The dash board is cracking and falling apart. The vehicle is parked inside the garage daily. Just like all other gm models of this body style. For what these vehicles cost, the dash shouldn't be falling apart. Very sad on gm's part.

Bought my Tahoe a year ago in perfect condition. I clean it 2 to 3 times a month due to having 5 kids. Last month I was pulling out of the driveway and heard a loud pop. The next time I cleaned it, it had a crack to the right upper side of the passenger airbag. 2 days ago I was cleaning the dash and there is another huge crack above the steering column. I thought it was just my vehicle and see all these complaints. I've always owned chevy and have never had this issue! if anything happens to my babies because of this defect, I'll own gm. I'm scared to have anyone sit in the passenger seat. You should never feel uncomfortable or unsafe driving a $24,000 vehicle! taking to dealership to see how much it will be to replaced and how much more money I'll have to add to fix a defect that isn't my fault.

The dash is cracked all over and cracked at airbag. Also, suspension had a popping noise and has been fixed and still making noise.

I own a 2010 chevy Tahoe, which is in pristine condition and taken care of regularly. There is a crack on my dashboard that is getting worse by the day. When taken to the Chevrolet dealer where my vehicle was purchased they want $450 to repair! this is a severe safety concern that needs to be addressed immediately.

The dashboard has cracked in 2 places. No pressure or force has caused this to happen. The first crack by the airbag happened in July of 2017 and the second on the steering section happened in mid 2019. It has been garage kept for 50% of ownership.

The dashboard is cracked and spreading by the passenger side airbag. In the event of a accident this may cause pieces of the dash to come off and cause serious physical injury.

2010 dashboard cracked in to places an I'm worried that one of the near the passenger air bag would not function in a case of an accident.

There is a crack in the front right side of the dashboard. I'm not sure when the split occurred as the vehicle hasn't been involved in any accidents or incidents.

2010 Tahoe. My dash is cracked. Have had it replaced once before and it done it again.

There is a large crack on the passenger side of the dashboard. It is by the airbag. This causes the entire dash to vibrate and make noises. I am afraid that the airbag may be compromised. This just occurred one day. My Tahoe is kept in the garage. I have never taken it off road or 4 wheel driving to cause this.

Takata recall. Its been a year since getting any new information on this particular recall and now my dashboard is cracking!!! called all chevy dealers in honolulu and its going to cost an arm and a leg to get my dashboard changed!!! very unacceptable that gm won't fix this problem. I just finsished my extended warranty and now this happens!!!! come on gm, fess up to this prpblem!!!!!.
