general problems of the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe - part 1

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle hesitated and the temperature gauge failed to function as needed, with an abnormally loud sound coming from the cooling fans. The check engine warning light illuminated, and a message about the battery was displayed, and a warning light about the battery was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the thermostat housing had failed and the wiring to the fan had failed. The vehicle was repaired. Several days later, the contact stated that on a separate occasion, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the catalytic converter had failed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the same day the vehicle was picked up from the independent mechanic, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the timing chain had failed. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 165,880.

I recently purchased this vehicle about five months ago. I took it to riverside Chevrolet to get a diagnostic on it because my steering wheel is locked all the lights on the dashboard are on in the vehicle is not drivable almost a month and a half of riverside Chevrolet and they could not get a diagnostic on it. Apparently the technicians there were not able to figure out what’s wrong with it. The vehicle is not drivable and it is a safety hazard.

I really don't know what happened I was coming from okmulgee oklahoma I went to turn my signal on to get in left lane and my truck just put itself in accessory mode and I couldn't steer causing my truck to keep straight instead of switching lanes causing me to run into a construction merge sign that damaged my truck my insurance wouldn't cover the damages cause they said it sounds like a malfunction with my truck that I need to contact dealer.

The 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe seems to be known for thermostat failure. My thermostat gauge while driving would drop from 210 to 160 and stay pinned on 160 and the fans would turn on. I was told by an auto body shop that it seemed to be electric issues. I also had a wire under the car catch fire and the auto body shop said that is why my standing lights would not work in the rear but my brake lights would work. It’s very dangerous that the electrical failure caused a fire to start under the car. Then, I ran into another issue just this week where the vehicle has a cracked ac condenser and is slowly losing coolant. It’s a manufacturing issue because all of them seem to crack and we’re not made with a proper seal. Another electrical issue I have is when I turn the wheel all the way to the left or right, even when the key is in and engine is on, the engine will shut off. The car completely shuts off and then I have to turn the key to the off position and then it will turn right back on. The steering wheel is also losing power steering and gets very tight when I have to make a turn. The fuses for my radio are blown and when you put new ones in, it blows immediately and doesn’t turn on. I have many issues with this vehicle and it’s obviously a manufacturer issue. This is not ok for a vehicle to all around have such horrible electrical issues. I have had issues driving over a pothole and I lose my radio screen or my whole dash screen and then the dealer and auto body shops say the electrical work is too in depth for them.

The trailer brake system continues to alert due to a wire control harness that’s defective. I’ve spent a ton trying to repair it but it continues to damage other parts of my car like the alternator and battery this week.

The vehicle information system, radio, maps, phone goes uncontrolled, changes volume, radio station changes randomly and sometimes won't allow the driver to even turn off the radio; makes calls from phone contacts while driving randomly and there's no way to hang up! unable to change time on screen, plus other random electronic actions. This distracts the driver in numerous ways, diverting attention from driving while trying to manage the issue; unable to hang-up a random phone call while driving.

Keeps saying service trailer brake system and does not stop ringing in the dashboard it’s very distracting while driving .

The "service trailer brake system" pops up on the dash and makes noise every 45 seconds. Its distracting and dangerous to be driving while this is happening.

The contact stated that he opened the hood and moved the battery cables around, and the vehicle was able to restart. The contact stated that the vehicle would temporarily lose electrical power while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact was advised to add a fuel additive in the vehicle. The contact followed the recommendation and the check engine warning light was no longer illuminated; however, the failure later recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 149,000.

On Wednesday, 11/15/23, I was sitting in my vehicle while it was parked and running for several minutes. After a few minutes, the alert chime went off and the message "service trailer brake system" was displayed on the dash notifications. This alert persisted for several minutes. Since this initial incident, the same alert has displayed 3 or 4 more times, but while driving. It repeats persistently, causing a major distraction, blocking my speedometer, and disabling bluetooth features. I nearly wrecked because of the distraction and have not been able to tow my trailer because of the risk of of the trailer brakes not working. I have an appointment scheduled with my mechanic on 11/28/23 to get this repaired, but have recently learned of several incidents of this same alert from other gm vehicle owners. This seems to be a defective wire harness and needs to be recalled as it is unsafe and renders the vehicle useless for many intended purposes.

While driving I periodically receive a notification on the dash to "service trailer brake system". The message just randomly comes up with an abrupt warning noise which is a distraction and startles you until it goes away. I don't tow anything with the vehicle. The notification happens about once a month when driving and eventually goes away after a few minutes. I do mostly interstate driving and when the warning comes up, it startles you and you feel the need to pull over immediately. The notification noise is loud and a distraction. I will be taking it to a Chevrolet dealership. I have an appointment late August. This has been going on periodically for months.

The car was bucking on the highway it was losing power without notice. There was no prior notice from onstar system either of any mechanical issues . There was no prior indications or check engine light before this instance. I was coming home in the dark on the highway which was a dangerous position to be in. The car's transmission failed out of no where! I have had the car 22 months and was purchased from the Chevrolet dealer.

Check engine light came on after vehicle starting losing power in steering column. Speedometer was moving up and down with some other gauges doing the same simultaneously. The vehicle provided warning of stabilitrak after dismissed, it gave another warning stating, “steering assist is reduced drive with care. ” it became harder to accelerate and very distracting as the stabilitrak error continued to pop up with the speedometer and other gauges, such as rpm, going up and down continuously. These gauges would then stop working altogether then start to work briefly. Then, the gauges would continue to malfunction by going up and down with the stabilitrak error on screen. I got off the interstate and I have having issues with acceleration from first gear. Vehicle was hesitating which was terrifying. It was failing to engage. Transmission fluid rose from 187 to 208 degrees during a brief time period on the screen. Could not use the m gear at all.

Car died with no dash warning. Had battery and alternator checked, battery checked out perfectly fine but alternator needed replacing. Replaced brand new alternator. After replacing, message came up “power steering drive with care”. Steering went completely hard, no other messages or absolutely any lights on dash. Unable to drive due to car steering wheel being locked.

While driving home from corner store, power steering locked up with very little play left or right. My vehicle is undrivable and parked at this time until I figure out what to do. I understand that gm issued a recall for such safety issues in 2018. I just brought my vehicle a year or so ago. Please advise, thanks.

On several occasions at various speeds, both driving straight and turning, my 2015 chevy Tahoe has turned off. During higher speeds the SUV will turn back on, instantly, by itself but during lower speeds and turning the car has to be manual turned back on by switching into neutral, pressing the break, and pushing the start button. The most recent time this has happened, it was dark outside and I was turning. I lost everything including my head and tail lights so it was hard for oncoming traffic to see me. I also almost hit someone coming in the other lane because I was unable to fully turn due to the loss of power steering. After this happens, I get many warning/action required messages across the dashboard but no check engine light or code have come up. I will be taking it to the dealer but since it does not happen every time the care is driven, I can only hope they can experience what happens.

I repeatedly get message to service trailer broke system. I cannot drive without the constant dinging and the message popping up on the dash. Can I even monitor my speed because the message is constantly popping up. Oh papa that my trailer bikes, don’t seem to be working. This could be very dangerous.

Keep getting a message saying trailer system issue. Has occurred over the past few years but recently has shown up more than once about every day. I don’t have a picture at this time but please help with resolving this issue it is very annoying.

While driving the children to school making a right turn in the school grounds. The Tahoe completely shut down and restarted. In the 10 seconds it was down I was unable to steer the vehicle and there was absolutely no power. When the vehicle restarted itself the "service trailer brake system", "service stabilitrac" message come over the display. I immediately took it to the sun auto who recently replaced the ac compressor, they kept the vehicle for one day and part of another and they could not find any issues. It seems as if there is battery drainage and this has been inspected by north side Chevrolet and they have been there are no service indicators and or messages. This is the second time it has done this to me and I am concerned for one my life, the five year old twins I drive everyday and any other people that could potentially be harmed by such a terrifying shut down. Imagine if I am on the highway driving to my job at the hospital and this happens.

I purchased this 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe in 2017. It was a certified pre owned vehicle from a dealership. The vehicle continues to have the warning message of “service trailer brake system”.

I purchased this vehicle a few weeks ago. I was told by the salesman that everything worked in the car. I test drove it and the lane departure warning was working so I assumed the forward collision would be working. In real life driving, I have nearly run in to numerous cars as the forward collision does not work. In one instance, someone slammed on their breaks, my collision didn't alert me, thankfully I saw it, but I had to swerve off the road to keep from hitting them. In addition, the cooling seats work, but the heated seats do not work on either side of the front seats. Lastly, I have discovered that my navigation system does not work. I can't get it to change to my current location and the gps is x'd out. This is what I have so far, but sadly, I feel more things are going to happen with this vehicle. I am working with the dealership on the forward collision and heated seats, but don't know if I will get anywhere with them. They have said they will not fix the navigation system, which is affected by the cal (calibration) error message on my screen.

Trailer brake system chime goes off constantly. Chevy refuses to fix the defective wire harness. It is distracting and I have no idea if my trailer brakes would properly function if I were to tow. We ranch, but have avoided using my vehicle for this reason. This has happened continuously since 2019.

Have to researching online it is a very very common issue with the 2015 Tahoes and up. The radio/display screen constantly starts going haywire and scanning through stations changing stations as well as the screen on my gauge cluster which is going to end up causing an accident constantly trying to stop it from scanning and changing stations. It's like the whole screen has a mind of its own.

Repetitive chiming noise is very distracting and irritating. 3. ) yes, I took it back in soon after I purchased it (a lot of money) and the chevy rep said it probably was something to do with loose wires concerning the towing. I showed them a picture of the the warning display that I took immediately. They supposedly plugged in a diagnostic reader and said that since the code was no longer showing that they were unable to determine what precisely the issue was, but it was safe to drive. 4. ) component was not inspected by anyone. I was told that if it came on and I was in the area; to bring it in so that they can see the display. 5. ) yes there was a warning message that showed up multiple times. 1 or 2 weeks after being purchased on 3/11/22. I feel that the chevy reps know of the issue ( bad wiring harness between 2 of the body control modules) and acted as if the had no clue of the picture of the warning display that I showed them and they were able to tell me it was safe to drive even though they said they didn't know what the issue was. ???? I like chevy vehicles; it would be nice to see chevy stand behind their product. This is the 2nd Tahoe that I've owned, standing behind your work keeps and promotes customers.

Airbag picture showed on dash. After several dealership appointments, the code b0014 04 was found. Driver seat airbag deployment exhibits high resistance due to faulty electrical jumper wire connections and may not deploy upon impact.

I purchased a certified pre-owned chevy Tahoe, in 2017, for the past year to as of 2/18/2022, the service trailer brake has been chiming. It isn’t continuous majority of the time, but I know it isn’t right and often alarms me when it does chime. I do not tow trailers behind my vehicle at all. I drive to work and home, take kids to school and sporting events. . I would like to know if this has or when will this be recalled? obviously something is setting it off??.

On several occasions the following warnings will pop up. Service stabilitrack, tighen gas cap, service trailer brake system, automatic collision prep unvailable, and the check engine light will come on. Then the dashboard lights will flicker on/off, the montior will turn black, the doors will unlock and lock. It has happened when I am going 70 mph down the freeway. And on several occassions the car engine will turn off/stall as I am either pulling into an intersection, parking spot or coming to a stop. I will take it to the shop and have the check engine code scanned/turned off and it will be fine for a week and then start again.

The service break trailer system warning keeps going off when I’m not towing anything. It’s to the point that in a 10 minute drive it goes off about 10 times. I’ve been to numerous machanics and none of them are able to determine what is causing this issue.

There is a trailer brake warning that comes up, sometimes 10 times in a single mile of driving on the freeway. It beeps very loud and I cannot hear anything else. It is distracting to drive and I am unable to shut it off, I can only dismiss. I am now not sure if I can tow with my Tahoe because I fear there is something wrong with the trailer brake system. It is loud enough that if something else was wrong, I may not be able to hear it happening with the warning sound going off so often. I don't know exactly what is going on but my best guess is that it is either with the wiring, as this happens when I am not towing, or there is a sensor of some sort that is faulty. In any case, I don't think it is safe to tow because of potential hazards of the trailer brakes not working, or even worse, the trailer brakes locking up and me causing an accident.

Trailer brake system warning light keeps coming on, over 64 times in less then a 2 hour period, and I"m not even towing or using the trailer brake. It's very annoying, loud and can cause a crash as you immediately look down to see why the beeps are coming for.

The vehicle was able to be restarted moments later after multiple attempt and sometimes adjusting the battery cable. The vehicle was twice taken to the local dealer but the failure could not be duplicated and the cause of the failure was not diagnosed and no repairs were performed. The manufacturer was not yet contacted regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.

Vehicle has shut down twice while turning. When action happens the stability controls are turned off, parking assistance is turned off. All lights on dash flash. With this vehicle having electronic steering, I have no control of this vehicle when it shuts down while driving. Dealer could not reproduce actions to diagnose, but informed me to return if it was to happen again.
