2 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2019

I had a system failure light that came on my 2015 Tahoe. When I brought it to voss Chevrolet dealership in centerville ohio, they told me that my high pressure fuel pump was failing and that I would need to replace it along with the fuel lines. Upon further research I learned that gm had issued a recall bulletin (TSB 14858) in 2015 for select 2015 Tahoes. The Tahoe's affected included vehicles with an 8 cylinder engine (rpo l83 or l86). This describes my vehicle but the dealership said gm did not include my VIN in the recall, so they could not fix it under the TSB recall. I called gm directly and they also said my vehicle VIN was not part of the recall. They were not very clear as to which vins they decided to include when all of the Tahoe's were made on the same production line. This is a safety issue and clearly all of the vins should be included in the recall of the high pressure fuel pump and the hoses. Gm called the dealership and paid a portion of the expenses, but I still had to pay more than $300 out of pocket for an issue that is known to gm.

3 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2017

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe. While driving at a slow speed and making a left turn, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the vehicle lost electrical power. The vehicle was unable to restart and the doors would not open. After approximately thirty minutes, the vehicle was able to be restarted. The contact stated that the failure previously occurred and that the high pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The dealer diagnosed that the amperage from the battery was insufficient, which caused the vehicle to stall. The battery was replaced. The contact was concerned that the dealer was unable to verify if the failure was fully remedied and if the vehicle was safe to be driven. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 52,500.

4 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2015

We have been noticing an excessive fresh fuel smell which we believe to be coming from the exhaust when we start our vehicle to warm up prior to driving in the morning. Also sounds like exhaust is missing a little at idle. Took it in and dealer could not find any codes relating to our problem. They did however find a TSB 14858 for possible high pressure pump leak. They replaced high pressure fuel pump and seals with new line and test drove vehicle. They state vehicle is ok. We just picked up vehicle so have not had a chance to see if the problem of smelling excessive gas is still present or not. Will confirm in the morning.
