The car appeared to run out of gas. It had a half tank of gas. Lucky when it happened I was in the parking lot of my hotel for the night. I was pulling a boat at the time and was 50 miles from a chevy dealership. Had the car towed to a repair shop where they determined the fuel control module failed. Chevy refused to cover the repair or my inconvenience. There was no previous indication there might be a problem.
Without warning my Tahoe would no start 60 miles from home due to a faulty fuel pump module. I was stranded and the vehicle needed to be towed to a gm dealership for repairs. Many 2021 Chevrolet Tahoes have been recalled for this problem and I believe my vehicle should be included in the recall and $787. 50 should be reimbursed by including my vehicle (573 safety recall report 21v-739. September 16,2021 gm part #13537053 fuel pump control module. I have paid receipts .
Since March of 2025 I have identified a critical safety defect with my vehicle. When driving and without warning, the vehicle unexpectedly shifts to neutral, experiences a loss of propulsion, and the engine shuts off. This has occurred multiple times in which I narrowly escaped collisions with other vehicles or objects. If this would occur at a high rate of speed, it would certainly result in serious accident including possible fatality. I have experienced three near-accident scenarios when I had children in the vehicle. I have worked with classic Chevrolet in sugar land, texas who has made six attempts at repair. They have each time found a different component attribute to an error code and replaced that part. After each visit they tell me that the car is fixed and safe to drive. They have never been able to provide a clear explanation as to why I am experience this reoccurring issue, but attribute it to a different part each time. Within 5 days to 2 months, the incident repeats. I have recent video of the incident that I can share. Chevrolet customer care has been minimized my concern and informs me that their service staff has found the vehicle to be fully operational and safe to operate. I have spent over $6,000 in failed repairs. I do not feel safe operating this vehicle. That list of repairs includes: March 7, 2025 - battery replacement March 28, 2025 - DC/DC power converter April 22, 2025 - ecm updates January 8, 2026 - •throttle body replacement •serpentine belt replacement •engine air filter replacement •transmission fluid flush •coolant fluid flush •fuel injection cleaning •hydrogen carbon cleaning service January 23, 2026 - power control module (recall) January 30, 2026 - rear differential system replacement March 10, 2026 - • replacement of the high-pressure fuel pump • replacement of the DC power supply converter • hydrogen carbon cleaning service I can share all invoices. Chevy is not taking this matter seriously. Please support.
1st issue: 9/2025, after driving from another city to my home at 55-75 mph. As I pulled up home, the car just stalled and wouldn't start. I googled issue to find out it was a commonly known issue by gm. If fuel pump control module had happened while driving faster and not on my street to roll up to curb. I would have or could have been deadly. I find out what part # and local dealer knew there was a recall but told me he never heard about it and charged me for part. I installed in front of home on street and have been trying to get money back after reporting to gm I repaired my fuel pump control module and have been trying to get my money back from a repair done on 9/29/2025 by me. Gm says it's looking into still after I keep calling them on status of this notice. I still have old part. I have filled out all reimbursement forms. 1st the danger of it failing and now no money. By the time engine light comes on you have no power for any stopping or steering. #2 engine 2021 Tahoe high country 6. 2 l no recall has been sent. Gm has known about an engine that has multiple failure issues that could get you in a serious accident/death by just stop running, while just driving at any moment, internal failures and main seal leaks, more! mine just poured oil out on driveway after driving 6 miles to church and back. This will be the largest and most deadly auto issue in history. They even had dealers now with any on lot with this engine a stop sale order. Aprox. 800,000 of these engines are out there, local gm dealer says there is no recall. 2021 to 2026 and they have only changed out aprox. 2800 engines and telling me mine sitting in driveway is not on recall. Bs. These engines are in their high-end trucks, SUV's, escalades. Someone needs to get gm to do what's right and replace with new engines. That have been tested, all issues before someone has to die. Trying to keep silent on internet is sad. Yes its going to cost billions. But to keep customers safe and not scared.
I was driving down a busy road with my toddler in the car when the car just stopped. Went from traveling 40 mph to a complete standstill. Dead, in the middle of the road. No warning lights or signals at all. Could not get the car in neutral. Wheels locked up and not able to shift to neutral without the car being on, which was not happening. Had to get the car towed to the dealer. The tow truck driver had to drag the car on to the truck. No getting the car in neutral at all. Dealer diagnosed the problem as the fuel pump control module, which after researching is a major problem for this make/model/year. Should most definitely be a recall that has to be remedied by the manufacturer as this is not safe at all. Could have easily been hit due to traveling at a normal speed to stopping so suddenly. Then on top of it, not being able to get in to neutral to get to a safe location out of traffic.
I noticed the vehicle had intermittent hesitation while accelerating to merge onto a freeway on the previous evening. We drove straight home from there and the next morning as we prepared to go somewhere the vehicle lost power in our driveway and now will not start. Trouble code p129f fault code is being thrown. This seems to be related to the gm issued TSB pip5964 and the also gm recall n252516900 . However, gm is denying that our VIN should be affected. I'm concerned that they're not aware of or intentionally excluding vehicles that could have this issue. Had we lost power while in motion, like on a busy freeway or crossing an intersection, this could have been catastrophic.
I was driving on the highway at approximately 35mph when I noticed there was no response from the accelerator. I shifted the vehicle into neutral and coasted onto a side road and call onstar for assistance. The dashboard indicator said to restart engine. I attempted to restart, but the engine would crank but not turn over (start). The vehicle was towed to the dealership where the fuel pump assembly was found to have failed and need replacement.
1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? answer: the vehicle’s 6. 2l l87 v8 engine suffered a sudden internal mechanical failure involving the connecting rod, rod bearings, and crankshaft assembly, resulting in catastrophic engine damage. The failure mode is consistent with the defect described in gm recall n252494001. The engine and all damaged components are fully available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? answer: the engine failed without warning while the vehicle was in motion, causing an immediate loss of propulsion. This created a hazardous situation where the vehicle could no longer accelerate or maintain speed in traffic, increasing the risk of a rear-end collision or loss of vehicle control. Gm’s own recall documentation identifies this exact failure mode as a significant crash risk, and that same hazard occurred in my case. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? answer: yes. A service technician confirmed catastrophic internal engine failure consistent with connecting-rod or crankshaft damage. The dealer also verified that the engine is inoperable and requires full replacement. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? answer: no, the engine failed while in motion and was taken to the closest mechanic. Inspections by an insurance representative or manufacturer representative can be arranged. The vehicle and damaged engine remain available for further examination. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? answer: no. There were no warning lamps, diagnostic messages, or drivability symptoms prior to the catastrophic engine failure. The failure occurred suddenly and without any advance indication. All service records are available.
While driving my vehicle shut down. It will not longer crank. Had to have it towed. I am told that it’s the fuel pump driver control module. I carry my two children in this vehicle daily. This could have ended very badly. Now not only is my family without a dependable vehicle, I am going to be out a lot of money on an issue that is already a common issue.
I am writing to formally request a review of my vehicle’s eligibility for recall n212332040. I own a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, which is currently not listed under the affected vehicles for this recall. However, based on the recall description and the symptoms outlined, I believe my vehicle experienced related issues and should be considered for inclusion. While driving down the highway my vehicle experienced power failure leading to a full stop in the middle of the highway, resulting in a 9-1-1 call due to safety concerns for myself and oncoming traffic. The car was later diagnosed with the fuel pump module failure that other vehicles within the same year & model experienced, which were included in the recall. Why mine wouldn’t be included is quite confusing. I respectfully ask that your team investigate whether my Tahoe meets the criteria for recall n212332040. On 10/20 I sent in a request to the GMC recall department & on 11/11 I was denied anything further. I appreciate your attention to this matter and your commitment to vehicle safety.
The fuel pump control module failed while I was driving. My vehicle shut down in the middle of the road. I was unable to put my vehicle in neutral to move it off the road. A tow truck had to come in order to get it out of traffic. The next day we had it towed to the dealership who replaced the fuel pump control module. This is a safety issue because the car will shut down with no warning while driving. It’s very dangerous. The second safety issue is that the vehicle becomes immovable without a tow truck. There is no accessible shift override to manually put the vehicle in neutral.
The fuel pump went out. We were driving, about to enter traffic, and the engine shut off. It would not restart, and we had to have it towed to a mechanic's shop. The fuel pump control module was removed and replaced.
I own a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe high country (VIN: [xxx] ). My vehicle is subject to recall #n252494000 (NHTSA #25v274) concerning the l87 engine and potential loss of propulsion. On [xxx], I received a “low oil” warning for the second time within a few months. This recurring issue matches the recall description. I contacted my local dealer, kramer autoplex (livingston, TX), who confirmed the recall but stated no remedy is available. I am deeply concerned about safety, as the engine may suddenly lose power or sustain damage, leaving me and my family stranded or at risk of a crash. At this time, I have no assurance that my vehicle is safe to drive, no remedy is being offered, and I have already incurred expenses related to monitoring this issue. I am requesting NHTSA’s support in ensuring gm provides an expedited fix or interim assistance for affected owners. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Tahoe died while stopped, did not want to restart. Finally restarted and had no power when pressing the gas. Died again. Would not restart. Towed to dealership. Onstar identied it as a fuel management system error.
On August 23, 2025 while driving on a highway with my daughter in the backseat, my car gradually stalled while it was going through an intersection. It ended up stalling prior to a turn ramp onto another highway. This resulted in an unsafe condition and unsafe location as it happened without warning or any alerts prior to or during the drive. The Tahoe was towed to the dealership service repair shop (hendrick Chevrolet in cary, nc) and was found to have a fuel pump control module failure requiring replacement (replacement: fp-number 13554821, module 3. 900). The dealership service department acknowledged this is a part failure on the manufacturer end; however, mentioned this is a safety bulletin, but not a recall for the part. Due to the Tahoe being outside of warranty timeframe, this ended being an out of pocket expense. The service staff told us there were four other Tahoe vehicles waiting for this part at the dealership, and we waited over a week to obtain the part as it had to come from the manufacturing line. Due to the timeframe for repair (>1 week), we had associated rental car payments that was not provided by or covered by the dealership/manufacturer.
The fuel pump power control module failed. The service center tested the vehicle and the error code was for this component. I do not believe the service center kept the part. The part failed while driving, the engine stopped running and the vehicle lost all power with no warning. I had the vehicle towed to an independent service center where it was confirmed through diagnostics that the component had malfunctioned. Prior to and during the failure there were no warning lights or signals to indicate there was a problem prior to the vehicle shutting down.
2021 Chevrolet Tahoe original owner. Fuel control module failures. 1. Failed on 6/29/21 at 5,068 miles. Dealer replaced with gm part #13537053. 2. Failed on 8/15/22 at 12,130 miles. Dealer replaced with gm part #13544060 3. Failed on 8/1/25 at 41,247 miles. Dealer replaced with gm part #13554821 on each failure, vehicle was unable to shift to neutral, power remained on, electrical component began shutting down to conserve power, left stranded and required towing with rear wheels being dragged locked up onto tow truck. Once power was shut down, could not operate windows or lock doors other than keyed driver's door. Th entire failure mechanism puts the driver in an extremely unsafe situation. Recall notice #21v739000 was issued on 9/23/21 with to impacted notified owners on 10/14/21. Did not receive this notification since first failure was prior to recall and assume gm considered vehicle repair completed. Note that the fuel module part number has changed 3 times in my case, but part # 3554821 replaces 5 other listed part numbers. Is this the 6th iteration or of this part? what is the root cause of the fuel module failure? is it the module itself failing or an electrical issue that causes the fuel module to short out and fail. Gm/Chevrolet is not solving this issue. With 3 failures of the same component, this is a lemon and I have no comfort or confidence using this vehicle. When will the next failure occur and what unsafe situation will this leave me stranded in? read this issue applied to 2021 and 2022 gm full size SUV's and now reading issues through the 2024's. Unacceptable and poor quality. Gm needs to be held accountable to solve the root cause of these failures and stop putting a replacement band aid on the problem.
Was in stop and go traffic. Car suddenly said “conditions not correct for shift” and engine died. The car would not turn on and it could not be put into neutral therefore was stuck in the lane stopping all traffic on the NJ turnpike. It created a safety issue for that reason as there was no way to move the car to a safe place until a tow truck came and had to drag it onto the bed. I have since had it repaired at a local shop not Chevrolet dealer and was told it was fuel pump failure. There was no warning or any other symptoms in facet I had just had an oil change a week prior. Had there not been stop and go traffic and I was going the speed limit (60mph), there could have been a major accident and injuries.
Fuel mod failed. Exactly like recall order. My unit not on recall list.
The fuel pump power control module went-out, and my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe would not start. The fuel pump power control module part number is 13554821. That part is not subject to any existing recall. However, part number 13544060, fuel pump control module, for 2021 Chevrolet Tahoes is subject to recall n2123320240. The parts appear to be almost identical when you compare diagrams. Locations, and pictures on-line. I would like to request that part number 13554821, fuel pump power control module, be added to the recall. Thank you,.
My fuel pump failed while driving on the highway with my whole family. I lost all power and my gas pedal lost all compression. I was barely able to pull off the road safely. No indicators flashed on my dash, no warning just a total loss of power and control. After pulling over, I let the truck sit for a second then tried to restart. It wouldn't. At that point, the yellow check engine indicator turned on. I logged into mychevrolet and onstar to see if any notifications were available to help diagnose, but nothing stood out. All systems appeared to be perfect at last check. I check temp and it was normal, oil level, normal. Battery level, normal. Key battery, normal. I then started to google why my 2021 Tahoe would die while driving and came across and widely known recall for 2021 GMC full size suvs including Tahoes with faulty fuel pumps. My issue matched exactly to the description of what would occur. I did a quick search to see if I missed a recall notice for my truck, and didn't see anything. I was able to get my truck home and then to a dealership for a diagnostic. The only code that was discovered was for the fuel pump/fuel pump module. The dealership is now stating my vehicle doesn't qualify for a recall repair because my VIN doesn't appear on the affected vehicles list and that repairs will total $859. 68 out of pocket. However, they also stated that early builds for this year may not have enough evidence. I ordered my truck, built to spec 6 months prior to receiving it. I would like my VIN added to the recall list. I have kept immaculate care of this truck and this is a known safety issue. This is my family moving rig. I don't want it to be unsafe.
My [xxx] and myself were going down the interstate and my Tahoe started to sputter and the gas pedal no longer worked. I had to get over to the shoulder of the interstate because my vehicle would not accelerate. It turned off as I was navigating to the shoulder. Thankfully I was able to get there safely without causing an accident. The vehicle completely turned off and would not crank leaving us stranded on the side of the road. I called my husband because I did not know what to do. I kept trying to start the vehicle and it would sputter, but not start. Finally after multiple attempts it cranked up and I was able to get home. The vehicle has not been inspected yet by a dealership; it will be taken first thing in the morning. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I was driving home from a long trip and heard a large pop. Several warning signs and messages began popping up and the vehicle was shaking and struggling to maintain speed. I was able to get home and get my family out of the vehicle and get it to a dealer down the road. They stated the fuel injector and harness had failed.
Vehicle shut off while being driven in traffic, almost causing an accident at intersection due to a failed fuel pump control module. Engine code given was a p102a. Vehicle was unable to be restarted and had to be towed to repair shop.
Instrument panel has failed twice and is unresponsive. The gauges move and stay to the left after moving left to right. All lights begin to cycle through error messages. I have video of the issue both times it happened. When it occurs, you don't know your speed you have to guess, the full tank reads empty etc. , and it is dangerous to back up. The vehicle has been diagnosed by one independent mechanic and is currently at the dealership. There was no warning before the instrument cluster failed other than a cycling through of warning messages service transmission check 4x4, service suspension system, service power steering drive with care. -the center screen goes in and out. -when in reverse, the rear camera is black, the screen blinks intermittently. - dealer has stated that the wires are put on incorrectly- if that is the case, I am not sure who would have done that other than the manufacturer. -previously reported there was a strong gasoline smell in the cabin that made it really hard to breathe. Dealer corrected. Right passenger side is intermittently wet with no cause from the interior creating stale smells, making it hard to breathe. It is important to note this is the side where the electrical wires are "put in incorrectly" according to the dealer. I also have a video of what occurs.
Unknown - engine is driving hard and somethings wrong. No one will service my car because they say it’s on a recall, but then when they look up the VIN number it’s not on a recall however there are major issues going on.
Check engine light came on. Upon diagnosis', the engine is misfiring, lifters are not performing correctly and there are critical engine alerts and an estimate of 11,000 to fix. 2021 - 83,000 miles v8 - 5. 3 not the 6. 2 and no one will help me bc my power train expires. I am the only owner. Second brand new Tahoe ai bought from this dealership and they are doing nothing to help.
Several issues with certain popups regarding various indicators on dash and engine not getting enough psi.
Automatic fuel management/ displacement on demand caused lifter failure which caused cylinder failures.
Check engine light comes on. Car suddenly stalls and engine shutters, shuts off and on. Goes into limp mode as engine shutters at about 15 miles per hour. Gm has not included this 2021 Tahoe which is the same exact condition under product safety recall n212332040 "stall while driving". That recall was issued at the same time or month as this Tahoe was built and sold and should have been included. This Tahoe was towed to the dealer and gm has not been able to supply parts. The Tahoe will soon have been at the dealer for 60 days with no solution. The recall build dates should be expanded to include all gm vehicles with this defect. It is explained "the fuel pump power control modules in these vehicles may contain a supplier manufacturing defect that can cause the fuel pump to fail or operate intermittently, interrupting the flow of fuel to the engine. If the engine does not receive adequate fuel, the vehicle may unexpectedly stall. The driver may see a check engine light, receive an onstar notification that a diagnostic trouble code has been set, or experience a rough running engine. The vehicle may also be placed into a reduced power mode. A vehicle stall without warning could increase the risk of a crash, especially at high speeds".
Fuel pump module failure at 27k miles, experienced total loss of power while driving. Gm issued a recall for this part in other 2021 Tahoes, but said my vehicle is not included in the recall. Researching online this seems to be a large problem with this model year, yet they did not recall all vehicles. Clearly mine was effected.
2nd glow plug failure.
Vehicle smells heavily of gasoline/fuel exhausts to the point of headaches. Vehicle obtained just over one year ago currently with dealer.
Driving at 35 mph and the engine cutout and stopped on 8 November 2024. I was able to pull over safely as I was on vandenberg space force base, but at highway speeds in traffic this would have been very dangerous without power. The local gm dealership at lompoc, CA confirmed the fuel pump control module failed, which caused the loss of engine power. There was a recall for the 2021 Tahoe fuel pump control module, but my VIN was not included in this recall. Currently the fuel pump module is not in stock and gm has no estimation for when the part would be recieved.
I was stranded and had to have my vehicle towed after the fuel pump control module failed.
