I had the recall for the momentary rear wheel lock-up completed on 2025-05-04. While I was driving March 2026 my Tahoe went into limp mode and I had to have it towed because it wouldn’t reverse it was towed a day after this happened to lynch Chevrolet. It has sat there ever since with no fix in site. I had to get a rental vehicle that gm is paying for but they have stipulations to what they pay for and the vehicle they gave is not comparable or better than my car. Not only is this an inconvenience but they are doing the bare minimum to help with their mistakes.
The vehicle shifted itself into neutral and shut off while driving. It happened twice in three days. The first time I was pulling into the driveway so I was able to put it in park and restart the car safely. The second time I was in the middle of traffic in tampa and it shifted into neutral and shut off in the middle of the road. Luckily no cars hit me but again I had to apply the break , restart the car and put it back in drive. This was very scary and I had my kids with me. Earlier in the day I had been driving on 75 and if it had happened then it could have been a bad wreck. It shows there are no current recalls on my vehicle. No warning lights or messages appeared. Vehicle was purchased less than 30 days ago. I will contact the dealership to verify there are no open recalls just in case but again when I checked I found none.

Driving down i495 in mass when engine stopped with no warning or prior symptoms. My wife and 4 children (including 2 friends of our kids) were in the car. Luckily we were able to safely pull to the shoulder after coasting through a construction zone. If we hadn’t made it to a safe piece of shoulder chances are high that another vehicle would have hit our vehicle and hurt and killed us. These 6. 2 engines are a serious safety hazard and I only hope my new engine proves to be reliable. Car was towed to dealer who diagnosed it as a seized motor. Car is a 2022 chevy Tahoe with the problematic 6. 2 engine. Engine had passed Chevrolet’s pico test as per the 6. 2 recall about 7,000 miles before it seized. Vehicle and engine dealer maintained with all required changes/maintenance. Engine seized/failed with no warning.
I took the vehicle in for the engine recall. They put in the higher viscosity oil. Shortly thereafter the engine failed. They are trying to claim it's not related to the recall issue.
My Tahoe died on a busy bridge in moore ok during rush hour traffic. Got a ticket for impending traffic. Had to get car towed. Tahoe is still in shop. I have a rental…. Gm trax. Failed coolant control valve and months-long wait for replacement part. Error code p1098. Service center informs us that the parts shortage is nation-wide. We must frequently monitor the engine temperature, which distracts from attentive driving.
The vehicle has a safety recall stating the vehicle has been affected and the engine could fail during operation and loose propulsion with an increase risk for a crash. There are not any precautions in place or offered neither is there any part available to repair the vehicle in the near future. Vehicle went into neutral while driving down the road, when trying to shift it back into drive a warning came up on the dash stating, "condition not correct for shift" and the check engine light came on as the car shut off.
Check engine light with p1098 code for engine coolant control valve failure. This part has been on back order for months and manufacturer hasn’t declared a recall or provide any update to their customers.
On may 9th, 2025 we had to have our 2022 Tahoe towed to the local dealership. There was a transmission error message and the battery was completely drained. The dealer put a new battery in it for $485 and we were told it was good to go. The next day, the car would not go into reverse. Had to have it towed back to the dealership and was told that the transmission failure was a recalled part and would be covered. Later we were called and told even though the part that had failed is in fact the same part in the open recall, that our VIN was not on the recall list and the cost to fix the vehicle would not be covered. In addition to all the headaches and money out of pocket (rental cars, tows, new battery) we now have to wait at least 4 - 6 weeks to receive the recalled part but since our VIN is not on the 2022 Tahoe recall list (even though it is the same part as the recall that failed), we are having to pay out of pocket for the repairs. Chevy needs to stand behind this recall and cover the cost.

Driving my Tahoe (67,000 miles) down the highway and everything is perfectly fine, suddenly all of the check engine lights began to flash. I wasn’t sure if it was an electrical glitch or not until the engine started knocking loudly. I was on a bridge in traffic and had no where to safely pull over. I had to drive a few miles further just to get to safety at which point the knocking became extremely loud and the entire car began shaking. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership where they informed me the lifters had gone out as well as the cam shaft. Apparently this is a very common occurrence among owners of this vehicle/similar vehicle. I am so grateful this is the one time my two small babies were not with me. It was a very scary situation and I was hours from home. This came completely out of no where without warning. Of course this happened 7,000 miles out of warranty. So now after paying over $70,000 for a vehicle that is barely 3 years old and only driven in town for the majority of that, I was stranded and now going to be out $10,000 to repair.
3 separate major problems: 03/23 - 8500 miles. Driving at 70mph on highway, received message on drivers display "conditions not correct for shift", car went into neutral, no acceleration possible. Was able to safely get off highway. Stopped car, and restarted, error went away and car was able to be driven further without incident. Chose to not take in for service, 4/23 - 9000 miles. Noticed fluttering noise coming from engine bay when lifting off gas after acceleration. Service eventually found lifter/bearing issue. Whole engine was replaced under warranty. Was without car for 3 months. Further research online found that others experienced the same issue while driving and had engine failure at speed resulting in life threatening driving conditions. 4/25 - 31000 miles. Last weekend, driving at highway speeds and came to traffic standstill in left lane on major highway. Went to accelerate, and received "conditions not correct for shift" message, car went into neutral and would not accelerate. Turned car off, and tried to restart and car was stuck in park. No way to access neutral, leading to blocking of left lane where cars were approaching and avoiding us at highway speeds. Onstar was notified immediately with the severity of danger stressed (2 adults, 2 children and dog remained buckled in the vehicle). However, chp took over 1 hour to arrive, shut down highway and somehow was able to start the car one time and get into neutral for chp to push car safely to shoulder. Dealership alerted me to failed "fuel control module" to have to 3 major engine related incidents that could have lead to accident or death is unacceptable. Online research shows these issues have been common for this vehicle engine and is absolutely unacceptable. For a driver to not be able to safely engage a neutral override is absolutely unacceptable. I was informed by the tow truck driver that a special tool was needed and you had to crawl under the vehicle to engage neutral override.

Duramax engine - coolant control valve malfunctioned on the diesel engine. Can not drive my 2022 Tahoe. In the dealership for 2 months now and waiting.
While driving on the highway the engine started to makes noise and shut down in seconds without warning- we glided down an off-ramp narrowly avoiding oncoming traffic and was towed away on the ramp - the engine only has 68,000 miles and it well maintained. It’s my understanding that the NHTSA is investigating problems with the 6. 2 l engines on 2022 Tahoes that have sudden lost of power please add my name to the investigation- gm has refused to help I’m hoping that a recall which is warranted will help with the $11,869 cost to replace the engine.
Vehicle suddenly lost power at 70mph in heavy traffic. This was after a very brief flash of the electrical system off and then back on. Vehicle was safely pulled to the side of the road (luckily). The electrical system kept demanding to “push start” and then would shut off and then immediately come back on, but without the engine starting. The vehicle would not completely turn off, or turn back on from that point forward, killing the battery in the process. We called onstar, who had it towed to bill estes Chevrolet in carmel indiana. Mark in the service department then informed us that the engine was completely seized up and would require an engine replacement.
Driving the Tahoe to work. All sudden motor started cutting out and died. Vehicle was towed to chevy dealer. Was notified by them engine was locked up and needed to be replaced. 6. 2 motor.
While driving from boise, idaho to jackson, wyoming our 2022 Tahoe 6. 2l with 70k miles shut down at 85mph on highway 84 outside of pocatello. Luckily, my wife was able to coast off the exit. We had the Tahoe towed to the dealer and advised it would be 4 months for a new engine as our order was number 4,000 in line for an engine. Luckily, all of a sudden engines arrived from the supplier and was replaced in 3-4 weeks. Tariffs must have sped up the process. Downside, I paid 50% as we were out of warranty and gm would not cover the entire cost. Now I see the recall and would expect to be re-imbursed. We will see.
I’ve done some research on the chevy Tahoe 6. 2l engine failures my Tahoe experienced the same thing our Tahoe just shut off in the middle of rush hour. 2 days ago we’ve started hearing slight knocking on higher rpms and sometimes just idling and also would have a rough idle but it would go away with no check engine lights or warnings on the dash till today we haven’t taken it to the dealership to look at do to it having 61k miles just past its warranty and us not having the finances to get the truck fixed.

The highway had no street lights, and we were constantly worried about being hit by other cars since our vehicle was nearly invisible without the emergency lights. The malfunction left us stranded more than two hours from home. We had to have the vehicle towed to a Chevrolet dealership for inspection, which was also over two hours away. Prior to the failure, there were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms—everything happened suddenly without any notice.

Engine quit running unexpectedly, without warning, as we were driving down the freeway about 30 minutes from our home. Fortunately, we were able to get off to the side of the road but faced difficulty in getting the vehicle on the tow truck. No power so electronic parking brake would not disengage for more than a few seconds. Plus the rear wheels would not turn at all. We did get finally get the vehicle towed to a nearby mechanic who informed us that the engine had siezed and would have to be completely replaced with a brand new engine. Suspected main bearing failure. I have read that you are investigating problems with this engine, gm l87 6. 2l v8. Since our vehicle has 75000 miles and is out of warranty we are facing repair charges of up to $15000 to $20000. We could use a little justice. Thank you.
On 2/27/25, I was driving down the highway and the dash stated "push start for engine" and began to lose all power. The engine seized with no other warning. I was able to safely pull over to the side of road and was then towed to the shop. This vehicle has been serviced on a regular basis. It was found that the engine had blown and am still waiting for a replacement.

The manufacturer informed the contact that the dealer would be contacted, and she would be informed of the assistance the manufacturer would provide. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.
At 30,534 miles, and still under warranty (5. 3l v8) I had a complete engine failure without warning. Catastrophic and immediate engine failure. Latest word was a cam and lifter problem on a vehicle still under warranty. Repair time stated at 1-3 months. Engine failure occurred on a business trip en route to dallas, TX in rural oklahoma. Paid $275 for towining, $115 for a hotel and $360 for a rental car. Zero compensation.
At 22,000 miles on the interstate highway, vehicle suddenly lost all power, no throttle, went into neutral and we were lucky to be able pull it off to the shoulder without an accident. It had stalled and after multiple tries we were able to restart it. Then the check engine light came on and we drove it directly to dealer. There was a code for camshaft sensor and we were told all lifters needed to be replaced. Upon doing so, they found metal pieces in the engine and said entire engine needed to be replaced. The engine was on back order for up to several months. We waited a month then decided to trade due to loss of vehicle use. Dealer was very helpful during repair but no assistance from gm for a known issue on the 6. 2l that could have had a negative outcome on the highway. This was not only a safety issue but a very expensive situation to trade out of for an almost new car.
