Car got stuck between gears while driving on the road. The vehicle accelerated by itself almost causing me to crash. I immediately pulled over into a business and put the truck in park. The car stayed on. It turned on and off but would not shift gears. Would not go from park to reverse or drive. And unfortunately the “warranty” only cover 60k miles. Conveniently right before this well known issue goes out. The main issue was pressure control solenoid c stuck on. This issue is an issue many people are having and since it is a drivetrain issue this can affect many lives while on the road.
I had the car in for a message (service transmission now will not be able to shift soon). They told me there was nothing wrong with my transmission it was a parking brake sensor issue. They ordered me a new sensor and never called to tell me it was in. I followed up and they said they had the part and I could come in whenever. They said it was not a safety issue and would be a quick fix. I had an appt today and to my surprise when I went to drive to the appt my car will not let me shift out of park with a new message (service transmission, unable to shift). I am now waiting for the car to be towed. This car has had nothing but issues including the back-up camera not working properly for 2 years. These are all serious safety concerns that chevy/gm has not properly handled.
Driving at 75mph upgrade westbound out of denver, CO. Engine failed, shut down at speed, had to emergency move to right shoulder through 3 lanes of traffic. The last 10 mph it locked wheels to a screeching halt. Towed to foundation Chevrolet. Confirmed engine failed, needs replacement. Every service done on regular basis by same dealer. Had "recall" band aid performed a couple months ago, where they changed oil vicosity and did inspection.
Had issues transitioning to reverse, drove vehicle to the dealership. While driving on a busy road vehicle went into limp mode and had to pull over. Vehicle needed to be towed to the dealership. Dealership was able to verify vehicle was unable to reverse. They also found p0700 and p0776 error codes. They also used service bulletin 22-na-258. We had not noticed excessively harsh shifting prior to this event. Had to replace components in the valve body.
Vehicle continues to experience flashing air bag light and service self-restraint system warning. Brought in twice in 2025 for self-restraint system but dealer refuses to cover under warranty. On December 18, 2025, experienced complete power and electrical failure while in transit on a turning lane. The vehicle was unable to start, or open any windows, and the transmission would not shift back into park or neutral while obstructing traffic near an active railroad. Vehicle battery was replaced and was able to safely put vehicle into gear. Vehicle battery replacement allowed for normal driving; however, from that date on the transmission started shifting harder and jerkier. On December 31, 2025, vehicle was being driven on the freeway to then experience difficult shifting and reduced power. Subsequently, the drive indicator began flashing red and a service transmission indication appeared. There has been at least three instances, since vehicle purchased, where sudden loss of power and control of the vehicle in motion has occured.
Unknown.
Car went to limp mode, hard shifting very suddenly. Transmission system failed. No reverse. Computer codes p0700 p0777 p18a1 inspected at chevy service center and needs valve body replacement. No warnings, lights, alerts, hard shifts previously.
Transmission valve body failure after factory warranty expired.
This is the 5. 3 and not the 6. 2. The vehicle turned off and switched to neutral while driving, that almost caused an accident. Dash displayed engine/transmission failure. Vehicle became a boat anchor and was towed to dealership. Possible transmission valve body issue.
Several times we will be driving down the road and it feels like the vehicle is trying to shift into park and the tires lock up. Then it goes into a mode where acceleration is limited.
2022 Tahoe rst with 5. 3 10 speed. Bought new in sept of 2021. The 2022 we have had problems with shuttering in the drivetrain from very low miles. We have brought it into the dealership atleast 3-4 times before for this issue. This was all while it was still under its 60k drivetrain warranty. Dealership always told us that since there was no check engine light or codes that they can’t fix what is not broke or broke yet. We needed to wait for it to break or light then bring it in. We also received a letter in the mail for the trans recall (program)last year which was preformed. That day after, my wife started to notice it shuttering more than usual and more often. I call the dealership that performed the recall which they said to bring it in. After looking it over. I get a call saying that I should get the transfer case fluid, front and rear diff fluid changed. It might be the transfer case slipping. Advisor told me that since it was about due for this service. Fast forward to may 9th of this year. My wife was at church. She parked it which it ran fine. Came out about 30-40 mins later put it into drive and wheels where locked up. She called me panicking that something was wrong. Go to her aid which I had to have it towed to the same dealership that serviced it before. Even check it in with the same advisor that helped us before after the recall issue. I should now mention our 22 Tahoe has 68,700 miles. Dealership called us a few days later saying it was the valve body. Especially since we had have problems before with the drivetrain and documented. The vehicle is still inoperable. We are waiting for a valve body with no eta.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact noticed a loud knocking sound coming from the vehicle and the vehicle jerked abnormally. The accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. There was no warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the gear shifter failed to operate as intended and the vehicle failed to shift into reverse. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The vehicle was scheduled to be towed to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
While driving down the highway, the vehicle suddenly experienced multiple issues. The headlights went out, the vehicle would not continue to accelerate, and all interior lights shut off. The vehicle then shifted into neutral and stalled. There were no warning signs or indicators before this happened. Our safety was at risk as we barely managed to pull the vehicle over to the shoulder, with no working emergency lights. The highway had no street lights, and we were constantly worried about being hit by other cars since our vehicle was nearly invisible without the emergency lights. The malfunction left us stranded more than two hours from home. We had to have the vehicle towed to a Chevrolet dealership for inspection, which was also over two hours away. Prior to the failure, there were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms—everything happened suddenly without any notice.
Faulty valve body safety was put at risk, I was traveling on a 4 lane road at 45 mph when my vehicle experienced a significant jump in rpm with immediate loss of propulsion. I immediately drove to the dealership as the incident was frightening. The vehicle was also not able to go into reverse. This valve body failure issue has been confirmed by the gm chevy dealership, and gm corporate executive services. My vehicle has been undriveable and at the dealership since 3/4/25. This is a known issue with gm, parts are not available and are back ordered with no eta on when they will be available. Even with a replaced valve body it is likely the vehicle will have future transmission issues &/ additional valve body failure. Please strongly consider a recall related to this known issue and safety concern.
2022 chevy Tahoe with 32,292 miles of in-town and highway driving, never any towing. Perfectly maintained on time. Suddenly started to not respond to acceleration, and jolting, then would not reverse. Transmission valve body has already gone out. Gm acknowledged the problem. States there is a national shortage of this part. There is nothing they know of being done about. Park the vehicle and wait for a part to become available. No eta, but 2,200 of this part have already been requested recently.
Two issues: 1) vehicle indicates to service safety restraint system yet onstar diagnostic monthly report says system is fine. The service restraint system notice intermittently goes on and off while driving frequently. Unable to confirm if air bag systems are active while driving. 2) vehicle was being driven in fast lane around 70 mph and experienced immediate loss of acceleration power while trying to pass semi-tractor. Onboard alert indicates reduced acceleration drive with care. Error code says something is wrong with the coolant control valve. Some servicers indicate they have a backlog of over 1+ month before can diagnose.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated while driving at approximately 35 mph, the vehicle was losing motive power. The contact stated that the "service transmission" message was displayed. The contact stated that the transmission temperature gauge was showing that the transmission was almost 200 degrees. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to the residence. The contact made several attempts to reset the transmission by turning the vehicle off and on and then attempted to reset the transmission control module by disconnecting the battery. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to a local dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the transmission valve body had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was advised by the dealer that the parts needed to repair the vehicle were on a national backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.
Continuous alert(3 months)- service transmission, unable to shift gears. Safety concerns due to possibility of transmission failure.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that at approximately 55,000 miles, the vehicle experienced a torque converter failure, and the torque converter was replaced under the factory warranty. The contact stated that four months later, the failure reoccurred, and the dealer declined to cover the repair. Subsequently, the camshaft failed, leading to a recommendation for a complete engine replacement. The contact stated that old parts from the original engine were installed on the new engine without authorization. Two months after the engine replacement, the transmission valve body failed while the vehicle was 237th on a back-order list. Three months after a second transmission repair, the vehicle suffered another transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission was new but discovered but was being charged for the installation of old, faulty parts from the original engine onto the new powertrain. The vehicle was currently at the dealer, and the contact was without transportation. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.
Making a left turn I hear rumble and roar coming from rear end. This noise is accompanied by slower turning speed. Once straight no problem. Will inform local dealer to see if this can be corrected. No indicator lamps or warning on any kind.
Driving on highway at 65mph truck suddenly locks up (brakes or shifts into park) and does not release. Vehicle swerves while coming to stop. Occurred 2 times sent to dealership and could not duplicate issue. 3 weeks later same thing happened both incidences happened while having cruise control on.
My 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe has a recurring pattern of excessive oil consumption, smoke from the exhaust, repeated check engine light events, p0420 catalyst-efficiency faults, and repeated catalytic-converter-related repairs. At approximately 75,000 miles, the vehicle shut down on the freeway. At approximately 121,000 miles, the first catalytic converter failed. Chevrolet of wesley chapel documented p0420 and catalyst failure in November 2025, and gm service history reflects catalytic-converter replacements at 131,468 miles and approximately 141,082 miles. The vehicle also underwent major injector-related repair in early 2026. At 141,620 miles, Chevrolet of wesley chapel started an oil consumption test and stated in writing that oil consumption can lead to repeat failed converters and false oxygen sensor readings. Despite substantial repairs, the problem pattern continued. I am reporting this as a possible safety-related defect affecting engine operation, emissions-system failure, and drivability, and I am asking NHTSA to review whether this indicates a broader safety-related defect.
While driving the car, going 50 miles an hour down the highway the car slowly comes to a stop goes in the park and stops in the middle of the road. Wouldn’t go into any gear for me to get the vehicle out of the roadway kept flashing message about going into low power mode and vehicle had to be towed to the dealer.
Transmission failure/windshield wiper failure- while traveling approximately 48mph, the vehicle completely locked up. Tires screeched, vehicle came to a grinding halt. Two of my children were in the vehicle (15yrs and 7yrs of age. ) this was sudden and without warning! the vehicle almost rolled, and we were lucky that no vehicles were behind us or we would have been rearended. At that time, we pulled over and the vehicle was towed to the service department at the local dealership. Just days before, the windshield wipers completely failed while driving, in the middle of a downpour. I had to pull the vehicle over and wait for the rain to calm before returning home. Also, the entire display panel went blank while driving, as if the vehicle was turned off. I was unable to determine speed etc. There had been a cascade of odd malfunctions days prior to the major events, the clock stopped working, the compass stopped working. The service department informed me that there was a "bad valve body. " I was told by the service manager that he had "never heard" of a vehicle doing this. My children and I are terrified to get back in the vehicle, as we almost had what could have been a fatal accident. I am in contact with gm/Chevrolet on possible remedies. I should note again that there are several other defects with the vehicle, that all seem to surround microchip/electrical components. They all seemed to have failed at once, which leads me to believe there is a larger systemic problem with this vehicle, the processors, and components. Again, this was a sudden cascade of failures. I have video of the windshield wipers non-functional during the rain. I was able to take the video after I had stopped. This is exceptionally dangerous. This vehicle is available for inspection. There were no warnings lamps or messages. No insurance has been involved. To my knowledge the dealer has not re-created the failures, but I have video of the panel black out as well.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated while driving 72 mph, the vehicle shut off, and shifted into neutral(n) inadvertently. The contact stated that the vehicle was coasted over to the side of the road. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
Car started ticking and loosing power exited and car stalled and car towed to nearest dealer capital Chevrolet in montgomery al. It has been there since 5-26-23. They first told us engine crankshaft blown, then said they will repair but parts on back order and no estimated epa. Gm customer service has been involved but no help.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the vehicle was intermittently restarting independently after being turned off. The contact also stated that while driving at approximately 70 mph, the vehicle lost motive power and the transmission independently shifted into neutral(n). After veering to the side of the road, the vehicle was turned off and the gear was shifted into park(p). The vehicle was able to restart. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer on various occasions; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 15,000.
The vehicle has stalled three times since I bought it a week ago. I will be driving and the engine will stall, putting the vehicle into neutral gear. The dashboard will then instruct me to press the power button, and when I do the vehicle restarts and will be in park. It has happened once while driving on the interstate and twice while making turns into oncoming traffic. When I go to accelerate there will be no acceleration, the vehicle will just be in neutral with no warning.
We were driving down the interstate when the engine shut off. All electrical was on in the car, but the engine turned off. The dash instructed me to press the start button. We were in traffic at the time of the incident with about half full gas tank. I selected neutral and proceeded to start the engine. It started with no issues and was able to be put back in gear. Continued without further issues.
