The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid. While driving 20 mph, the brakes failed to engage without warning. In order to stop the vehicle, the emergency brake had to be engaged. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 107,000.
Power brakes failed on this hybrid vehicle. The dealer says the power brakes can fail if the hybrid battery pack loses power. The brakes continued not to work until it was towed to the dealer, and they reset the computer system. They said they don't know if or when it will happen again and cannot do anything to prevent it. They said if the brakes fail two more times we could use the lemon law to deal with the problem.
