1 Steering problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid

Failure Date: 07/01/2018

On numerous occasions (35 plus times in past 2 months) I have experienced a terrifying complete loss of power to every electronically controlled component of my vehicle. For 3 to 5 seconds I have absolutely no power steering, traction control or headlights. My dashboard display goes blank, all radio and ac display goes off as well as their functions, my door locks repeatidly lock and unlock and my acceleration stalls out. After the power interruption all my dashboard warning lights (abs/ airbags/ stabilitrack/ traction control/ check engine) flash on and off for a few seconds when they all stop flashing the traction control and stabilitrack warning lights remain glowing. On 1 occasion while driving 75 miles an hour in the rain on a toll road with my daughter in the vehicle I experienced this situation only power did not return for 6 to 8 minutes leaving me to wrestle my rolling vehicle across 3 busy lanes of 75 mph traffic to the shoulder without power steering. I had to sit there with my child as traffic flew by until power returned and I was able to restart my car. I was absolutely terrified we were gonna be hit but we were on an elevated section of the roadway so the concrete barrier prevented us from getting out on the passenger side while contact fast moving traffic made exiting the driver side impossible as well. These issues have occurred in every type of driving scenario or condition. Randomly occurring while turning, accelerating, driving on an incline, braking, hitting bumps with no consistent factor being present. The date below indicates the onset of these repeat occurrences.

3 Steering problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid

Failure Date: 11/11/2017

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid. While performing a turn at 10 mph, the vehicle experienced a loss of steering ability and it required more effort to operate the vehicle. In addition, the service power steering warning indicator illuminated. The contact pulled over, turned off the vehicle, and restarted it manually. The vehicle became operable, but the air conditioning failed to operate. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

4 Steering problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid

Failure Date: 05/15/2017

Sudden failure of electric power steering motor. No warning, no alarms, while driving. Luckily happened at slow speed and no accident occurred. . . . But could have. Post incident I could not find a recall notice or TSB for my vehicle, yet other gm vehicles with electric power steering have notices. The Tahoe Hybrid should have one.

7 Steering problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid

Failure Date: 10/01/2011

While driving the vehicle, any slight turn of the wheel stays in rather than tracking back to center. I have been told this is normal for the electric assisted power steering, however I have not noticed it in other electric vehicles. It presents a serious hazard as most if not all drivers are accustomed to a steering wheel which tracks back to center when the steering wheel is "bumped" slighlty or when making a full turn as in intersection turns. The wheel in a 90 degree turn will begin to track back to center but stops short of it. A power steering control module adjustment was done by the dealer but it still does not track back to center. You must manually turn the wheel to get it to straighten out.
