1 Axle Shaft Seal problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Tracker

Failure Date: 05/10/2007

Rear brakes became inoperative. The left rear axle seal was found to be leaking transaxle fluid and contaminating the left rear brake shoes. Brake failure could have resulted in accident, injury and possible death. Local service garage replaced left axle seals and bearings. Replacement was not covered under warranty.

2 Axle Shaft Seal problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Tracker

Failure Date: 02/18/2007

Loud noise in front end of vehicle when cold. This makes a very loud grinding, squeaking noise in the front end of the vehicle when the outside temperature is at or below 22 degrees fahrenheit. The noise goes away after about 5 to 10 minutes of driving. The dealer says there is no fix for this! I have two 2003 Trackers. . And they both make this loud, irritating noise when its cold. Its so loud sometimes, you can hear it a block away. There is no excuse for a manufacturer to ignore a problem like this. . Even though it may not be safety related, it should still be fixed for free. The dealer says it is a axle seal grinding.

3 Axle Shaft Seal problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Tracker

Failure Date: 10/28/2003

Front transaxles fluid leaking from lh front drive axle. Leaking fluid could contaminate brake pads and cause unexpected brake lock up and a possible accident. Dealership found inner axle shaft seal to be defective. Dealership replaced inner axle shaft seal under warranty.
