The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Trailblazer. On October 22, 2008, while stopped at a traffic light, the contact noticed smoke coming from the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they diagnosed the failure as the multi-function switch. The switch was replaced in October of 2002 by the manufacturer. The dealer will replace the multi-function switch at the cost of $430. A report was filed with the manufacturer. The manufacturer stated that they would notify the dealer. The failure and current mileages were 49,000.
