Five problems related to engine exhaust system have been reported for the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The ext. Manifold on my 2004 trl blazer has a leak in the maifold body. The vehicle has approx. 120000 miles on it. This should be a recall item for manufacturing defect, but gm has not as of yet, issued a recall. It is a costly repair, as well as a safety concern, given that the exhaust fumes can enter the passenger compartment of the vehicle. I have owned many gm vehicles overtime, and never seen this before.
I own a 2004 Trailblazer ext with the i6 and I've been getting strong smells of exhaust fumes inside the vehicle do to a faulty exhaust manifold that is cracked. It seems that it happens to 90 percent of the Trailblazers with the i6 motor. Come to find out that the exhaust manifold is on national back order which tells me that gm should do something about this seeing that it's hard to drive around with the windows up and the heat on. Not only is it a safety hazard but it's also an emission issue.
Cracked exhaust manifold . Nothing caused this event , it just failed out of nowhere, now it has to be replaced , this is an uncommon event for this particular part to just crack or fail , and after reading researching this event I found it to be more commonplace in this from this particular car manufacturer. The fumes from the exhaust manifold is the safety issue , not to mention the unbearable noise.
Ticking noise from engine has been diagnosed as a cracked exhaust manifold. This should be covered by gm as a warranty item since there have been so many exhaust manifold failures related to the 4. 2 liter six cylinder engine.
2004 Trailblazer ,ses light on . . Code. . Secondary air pump failure. I repaired $600. 00 + needed to do so to pass emissions and get new plates. 2 yrs later ,same code, same action required to re-new plates.
