19 problems related to gasoline fuel system have been reported for the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I am extremely disappointment and afraid of my Trailblazer at this point. We purchased the vehicle used and within a week of having the truck it started dying at redlights. Out of nowhere the truck just shuts off in the middle of the road. It has got to the point now that it does it while the vehicle is actually in motion. I have 3 kids and this is not safe! I lose total control of the vehicle. The headlight plug has burned up twice on the driver side and it has been replaced. The electrical is seriously in need of a recall do to the back door speakers never working since we purchased the truck (which the dealer promised to fix) along with the rear a/c (which the dealer also promised to fix! I cant afford 900$ in labor for whatever is making my truck shut off but if it doesn't get fixed it will be the death of me! reading codes on obd2 scanner of poo14 and p0016 incorrect camshaft timing wiring problems (harness/wiring) in intake timing control valve control solenoid system continuous oil flow to vct piston chamber failed timing valve control solenoid (stuck open)- now what do I do. .
My vehicle is currently parked in my family's garage, as I am experiencing a strong gas smell. There is no visible leak, but I do not dare to transport my children in the vehicle until I can find what the gas smell is originating from.
Noticed gasoline odors inside the vehicle on oct. 2011. Personal auto mechanic told me last week that there's a crack on the fuel fill neck area where the gas nozzle is inserted.
Instrument panel failure, ran out of gas on a busy four lane highway during morning rush hour. I was in the left hand lane and was unable to move to the shoulder. I now became a major traffic problem until some nice citizen helped me push the truck out of harms way, having to stop both lanes of traffic so I could cross. Had I a working gas gauge I feel this would not have happened, none of the instruments in the vechile work, chevy has recalled other models of this year with the same problems, but not the Trailblazer. Why?.
Faulty fuel sending unit: causing fuel gauge to not read correctly or all together. Would like to replace but don't have the $600 quoted by the dealer.
Gas gage reading is incorrect. The gas gage reads 3/4 immediately after a fill-up and then reads empty soon thereafter.
General motors vehicle is showing an incorrect speed, the speedometer stops working, the tachometer needle sticks or stops working, the fuel gauge flutters or the entire instrument panel fails.
My head lights don't come on randomly. Randomly they do. Obviously, this is a serious safety issue especially at night. No, it's not light bulb replacemet issues. . . . . Other blog sites have complained about the same issues. Very dangerous!!!! the gas gauge also is not working properly. When the gas gets low it blinks on for a second then adds more gas to the panel. People could run out of gas unknowingly. Also very dangerous!.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated the cruise control as well as the fuel gauge no longer functioned. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was told they do not know how to remedy the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileage was 115,000.
I own a 2004 chevey Trailblazer. I am having constant problems with the gas gauge indicating that either there is less gas then actual, or more gas then actual. I know there is an investigation going on with these vehicals but only for the years 2005-2007, mine is a 2004. This investigation should also include this year since the same problems are happening.
2004 Trailblazer gas gauge does not work. My husband filled the truck up with gas and next morning the gauge went from e to past f and does not read anything now. This is the 2nd sensor to go out. The rpm sensor also went out a year ago. Talked to the dealer ship, they said to contact NHTSA and let them know. I read online and there are several complaints about the sensors going out and gm knowing they have issues.
I have a 2004 chevy Trailblazer LS with 49k miles and the fuel gauge reads way past the full mark almost all the time.
Hello I am writing concerning my 2004 chevy Trailblazer. When I first bought this vehicle the gauges all messed up and it would say I was going 90 when I wasn't moving at all. Now, the dealer went ahead and fixed that for me, but now the gas gauge is screwing up, it will say I have more gas then I have, it's been doing this for about 2 months now, and I've ran out of gas three times with my babies in the car. I did some research and there are alot of complaints about the exact same thing. When is this going to be recalled? how many complaints does it take? this is very dangerous, I have to drive 1000 miles soon, my husband is deployed now to iraq and I am suppose to go to visit family and I'm scared to do that in this vehicle and its all I have.
My 2004 Trailblazer kicked into full speed while I was traveling in an icy road at 20 mph. It automatically switched to 4 wheel drive, spun at a 90 deg. Went into a deep ditch, spun back straight and headed up the ditch, again full speed, into a culvert and totaled the vehicle. Both air bag sensors were knocked off the vehicle and neither one opened. I was not injured. Shook up a little. Traveling alone and coming home from church on a Sunday morning at noon.
Fuel smell/ leak.

2004 chevrolte Trailblazer- it cuts off while in traffic. There is a blog site with people from all over the country complianing of the problem. Dealer says, 'cannot duplicate problem. ' the vehicle also produces strong gasoline odor. Dealer says, 'cannot duplicate problem. ' this problem is also listed on the blog complaint site with a warning not to leave the vehicle in the garage or the fumes will ignite.
(1) fuel sensor went bad on my '04 chevy Trailblazer ext LS 4wd 4. 2 liter v6 engine which has (26,000 miles on it - excellent condition), thereby (2) causing the catalytic converter to become congested causing loss of power for use and towing on the vehicle. (3) told by the dealer where vehicle purchased that this item is not available for consumer use by gm parts and service. Told I would have to wait up to 3 months for item to be available for public release. This is not acceptable on a leased vehicle. Paying to not be able to use vehicle to full potential. Major loss. I am very dissatisfied with gm service. However, I was offered a rental vehicle to drive for this time period that is not equivalent to my own vehicle. This was finally offered after arguing with gm representative.
2004 Trailblazer, been having issues from 30k miles on with check engine light and they kept telling me bad fuel cap, after about a doz or more new caps now leaking filler tube. Found out this is the cause of the check engine lights. Fuel can leak out and cause a fire not to mention damage to the environment. 2004 ext versions were recalled but not the LS why??? in wisconsin and when checking the internet found hundreds of complaints with the same issue. How long will it take before action is done with this problem? does someone need to die??.
