Gm knows about this issue as far back as 2002 . Do they care about the impact ? I am the 3rd owner ,bought this vehicle because of safety rating and that it has less than 92000 miles on it. I have owned it for 5 years.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

I have 2004 Trailblazer in Jan my tack and spedometer have not worked properly . . . I cannot afford the 500 dollar plus fix on this vehicle. I have read many complaints in regards to the same sisituation. Apparently no one has taken care of this problem. Ifrom my understanding there have been recalls on most other vehicles with the same problem, I do not understand why there isnt one for the Trailblazer. Please advise what to do.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2014

The speedometer gauge went down to 0, while I was on hwy traveling at 55 mph. My speedometer currently isn't working and gas gauge is not working to. Why isn't there a recall on this? the lighinting will go out to and dont want to come back on some times.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2012

All gauges on control panel not working, but all service lights come on check engine, abs seat belt, reduce power, battery lights. Speed and fuel are impossible to know as well as warnings to observe from lights. 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer, speedometer will show a faster speed than you moving or will go to 0 while on the freeway. The tach has the same problem. This is a serious safety issue and it should be recalled now. I heard that they had the same issue on pick-ups and they were recalled. Most instrument backlights have burned out preventing the speedometer and other gauges from being seen at night. Very dangerous. Quick search on internet results in a severe epidemic of this problem with all gm SUV's. A class action lawsuit resulted in a nationwide recall for this problem for all similar vehicles but not the chevy Trailblazer or GMC envoy. This seems to be a criminal act by gm. Something needs to be done to protect owners of these vehicles. Driving down highway headlights go out. . Read more...

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/23/2011

First, all my lights on the instrument panel would flash at random times (like the seatbelt, abs, check engine soon, etc. ). Then my tachometer (rpm gauge) stopped working. Next my gas gauge stopped working. Next came the speedometer. It would get stuck at different speeds as a starting point and I would have to subtract that starting point speed from my speedometer speed to find the actual speed. For instance, if the speedometer was stuck on 25 mph when I was stopped at a red light, then once I picked up speed to 100 mph, I knew I was traveling at 75 mph. For the last 5 months though the speedometer hasn't worked at all.

13 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2011

The speedometer stopped working today. I checked online to see if anyone else was having the same problem. Apparently there is a lot of us all experiencing the same problem. I don't think it is fair that we all have to pay $500 to repair the problem. If we are all having the same problem there is obviously something wrong.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2011

Love the vehicle except the fact all my gauges stick. . . . Gm had told me this has to be safety issue in order to be recalled. . . I'm pretty sure not knowing how fast I am going on the highway is a saftey issue. . . Especially with little children in the car. This is unacceptable. I refuse to pay for a defect that is happening in many gm vehicles. . . If I can find all the complaints I'm sure gm can as well. How do we get gm to fix these problems and try to keep customers????.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2011

**instrument cluster** my speedometer started sticking when I would accelerate or dropping below 0 when I would stop. After several weeks the speedometer stopped working completely. None of the other guages appeared to be affected. I ended up having to have the instrument cluster replaced. The repair facility had to order it directly from Chevrolet which meant I was without the vehicle for 2-3 days as the dash was completely pulled apart. The repairs were around $800. I have seen quite a few other isntances of instrument cluster failure in those and other models of chevy. My brother in law said he had his replaced in his silverado and that it was covered under a recall but I have not been able to find that information.

16 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/26/2011

Vehicle goes into shutdown mode with an unresponsive accelerator. Motor still runs but no acceleration. This is a serious safety issue when driving in traffic as you have no power to get out of traffic and harms way. There is no warning that a problem is imminent. A reduced power light comes on and you're stuck. Vehicle in question is a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer.

17 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2011

General motors vehicle is showing an incorrect speed, the speedometer stops working, the tachometer needle sticks or stops working, the fuel gauge flutters or the entire instrument panel fails.

19 Vehicle Speed Control problem

21 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2010

Dashboard gauges on our 2004 Trailblazer have been failing one by one. No gauges except the speedometer have been operable for many months. Now, on Friday 11/11/11, the speedometer stopped working! this is a serious problem. I believe it must be caused by the same issues as the identical well-publicized problems on other Trailblazers. In addition, some of the dashboard lights (seatbelt light, etc. ) ramain on almost all the time. Chevrolet should be reponsible for immediate repairs at no cost to us, the owner. Thank you.

22 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2010

The speedometer began to be eratic and would not show the correct speed. I could be traveling 40 mph and the speedometer would show 10 mph. Then it would jump to 110 mph, then zero. I went to the dealer and was told a new cluster board was needed. The replacement cost is $600-$700. I did an internet search and found out that his is a wide spread problem with the Trailblazer. I also found out that chev. Has recalled other vehicles with the same problem, such as suburban, sliveraldo and yukon, but has not recalled the Trailblazer. This is a serious safety issue. Chevy must be aware that this is a big problem for Trailblazer owners there needs to be a recall of the cluster board on the Trailblazer.

23 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2010

2004 cherolet Trailblazer ext. Rpm gauge stop working and then now the rpm and speedo meter is not working. I found a number of reports from others online stating that their rpm and speedo also stopped working. I have seen no recalls on this problem. I have no idea how fast I'm traveling.

24 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2010

I bought my 2004 Trailblazer ext 7 months ago everything was working fine for about 5 months until my tachometer got stuck in a downward position last weekend I ran out of gas even though the meter displayed 1/2 tank full. I've talked to the dealer and they said I would have to send the panel to gm plus 300 dollars to get repaired and I cant drive my vehicle until the panel is returned because the mileage has to stay the same. If this is an ongoing problem why cant gm come up with a solution instead of just taking people money with all of these problems.

25 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2010

I have a 2004 chevy Trailblazer; while driving on the highway; all guages, lights, etc. Abruptly stopped working and continue to not work. I researched on line and found it could be what is called the "cluster board". I took my vehicle to a local chevy dealer in daytona beach FL. They insisted it was the ignition switch. They replaced that mechanism for just under $300. The following week (this occurred in 2010); the exact same situation recurred; so I brought it back to the dealer and they then agreed it was the cluster board which would now cost me close to $700. 00. In order to avoid being ripped off to the tune of almost $1k; I purchased a gps unit so I could at least monitor my speed. The speed/rpms never register correctly; however, so far the other guages seems to be ok (except for the oil pressure, it goes out of whack frequently so I just bring it in quickly to make sure I have sufficient oil and that it's clear/clean). Most recently my headlights just go out without warning; I am able to use the high beams, but of course that puts me in jeopardy of getting a ticket. There are so many complaints on the 2004 chevy Trailblazer - I do not understand why there has not been a recall on the cluster board and the electrical issues (lighting). I cannot afford to have all the repairs completed and would like to see Chevrolet take on some responsibility for the cost of these flaws in the manufacturing of this vehicle.

26 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2010

In my 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer I was applying the brakes. The brakes failed, and the vehicle accelerated.

27 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2009

Speedometer said I was doing 100 miles a hour tack does not work gas hand goes way pass full and when I stop and put $25 of gas in you know it is not full so not for sure if oil presure & temp gauge is right but it is not over heating guess I will know when steam comes out from under th hood gm recall some of the cluster why not the Trailblazer.

28 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2009

I have safety concerns in regards of my vehicle. While driving, my speedometer is reading off wrong numbers. For example, I can be driving 60mph, but the speedometer is reading at 80mph. It is a real concern for me because I have know idea how fast I'm driving. Now that a lot of cities have photo-enforced cameras to record how fast you are driving, I have to guess how fast I'm going and hope that I don't receive a ticket in the mail. I have been researching this particular problem and I see several complaints on this topic. Unfortunately, my warranty is expired so I will have to pay out of pocket. I hope gm sees this and consider a recall.

29 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2009

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The throttle body failed while the contact was at a stop light causing the vehicle to stall. The vehicle restarted immediately and there were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was driven to a mechanic where they inspected and replaced the throttle body at her expense for $200. The dealer was also called and informed her to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing but she informed them that she would take the vehicle to another mechanic and they will replace the throttle body. The manufacturer was called, filed a claim and was also informed to contact NHTSA and file a claim. The failure mileage was 121,000. Updated 12/8/10. The consumer stated the throttle body failed many times and the last time it failed, the consumer was approaching a red light and the vehicle completely stalled. Updated 12/13/10.

30 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2009

My SUV has less than 70,000 miles and all of a sudden it stopped showing me the speed that I am going. It just sits on zero and it stopped showing me my gas, it sits on e,. . . 31 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2009

The speedometer sticks and does not give accurate readings of speed (I. E. 70mph when stopped at traffic light). This began today and has not corrected itself. There are serious potential consequences of this problem as drivers will not be able to know their true speed. Nothing has been done yet to correct the failure. Research has shown average price of repair to be around $450. 00.

32 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2008

Driving along and all of a sudden the speedometer reads zero. All other gauges work fine. Had dealer fix it for 466. 00 gm has bulletin out for the pickups and suvs but not this vehicle that use the same components.

33 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2008

Had erratic speed readings on my 2004 chevy Trailblazer (e. G. , reading 140 while driving to work, or stuck on 20 mpg while stopped!). An obvious safety issue. There are blogs all over the internet complaining about this issue and stating that the original instrument cluster stepper motors are defective. Based on this research, I purchased replacement stepper motors on ebay, personally soldered in replacement stepper motors into the instrument cluster, and it corrected the problem. Why were the stepper motors never recalled?.

34 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2008

As I was driving down the road the speedometer quit working.

35 Vehicle Speed Control problem
