Unknown Or Other problem #1

My speedometer displays an extremely inaccurate reading, or doesnt work at all.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

Blower fan stays on constantly even when is cut off. Only way to cut off fan is to pull out module in fuse box under hood. :(.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

Speedometer jumps to different speeds . Whem you shut off the truck it will stay stuck 110mph, or when you restart the car it will just jump down a little 100mph. Other chevy models have had recalls on the same problem but not chevy Trailblazer? why.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

There is a potential safety issue related to the spare tire winch of gm vehicles that have an underside mounted spare tire. I used my winch for the first time and found it difficult to lower the tire from the underside of the vehicle. Yes, I had to break out the owner's manual in order to figure out the secondary release! when the service station went to put it back up, they told me the winch was defective and needed to be replaced. I took it to the dealership and they agreed. I'm claiming that this is a common issue and a design flaw. Gm is saying it is "normal" wear & tear. I'm having a hard time swallowing this since it has only been used once. Now they are claiming "environmental" factors and rust, caused by salt in my state. They are pointing to some loophole in the manual to deny responsibility. Understand that I'm outside of the 3/36 warranty, but still believe the company should stand behind their product and take ownership for this flaw. If this area is prone to rust and has a history of failing (as indicated on my automotive forums), what is to keep the spare tire from flying off during operation of the vehicle. If this spare will not snug up to the underside of the body, it seems that hitting a bump could cause the tire to break free or one of the "rusted" components could cause it to drop expectantly. I have tried numerous times to get this resolved through my local dealer and gm's customer care division, but they refuse to take responsibility for a poor design.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

Gas gauge shows empty, then full then empty again check engine light always on, also cable holding spare tire, rusted while driving tire hanging.

Unknown Or Other problem #6

Stepper motors in the instrument panel all went out in three separate gauges. Speedometer, alternator and oil pressure gauges. Items failed and gauges became erratic and then pointed either straight down or pegged left or right. Giving incorrect or no reading.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

Driving on the interstate I noticed a pop and upon further review of the vehicle, I found that the third tail light assembly has broken free from the clips that hold it on to the vehicle. It is still attached by 1 bolt but this is very dangerous if the assembly breaks free. I have seen several complaints on this particular vehicle that could cause severe damage to oncoming traffic and potentially cause an accident. This needs to be addressed by the manufacturer immediately.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

Fuel guage defect; reads empty when the vehicle has gas in it. Also reads a higher level of gas than what is actually in it. Every morning when starting the vehcile the fuel guauge light comes on even when the vehicle has gas. I never know how much gas is in the vehicle, I am worried it will shut off when driving down the road. This began at 80000 miles, and has been constant ever since.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

About 2 weeks ago the speedometer in my 2005 chevy Trailblazer stopped working properly. The only thing out of the ordinary was the nearly 16 inces of snow that we got in the chicagoland area. At first it would not move, then it read that I was going 30 mph while the car was in park. Now it is stuck past 120 mph. I am unemployed, still trying to make car payments on this car and do not have the $500 + that chevy has told me they would charge me to fix this problem that I am sure they are well aware of with this make, model and year SUV.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

Misleading information on the speedometer of the Trailblazer. The has stopped registering the correct speed during travel. While stopped at a red light the speedometer was reading 20 mph. This can be dangerous for drivers because they do not know what speed they are currently traveling. While traveling at 45 mph the speedometer was reading 75 mph.

Unknown Or Other problem #11

After returning home from shopping, my wife and her friend pulled into our driveway and she placed our Trailblazer in park. There was a loud sound she said sounded like an explosion and the rear lift hatch window shattered sending glass flying. At the time of the glass shattering the outside temperature was close to 30 degrees. The rear defroster was not on. I came home from work and we cleaned all the glass from the driveway and the interior of the vehicle. There was no explanation as to why this happened. I contacted the insurance company and the window was fixed for a cost of $754. 70 by safelite glass repair. I looked on the internet and did a search of similar incidents and found quite a few. I contacted gm by e-mail and told them what happened. Gm thanked me for the information but did not offer any replacement or reimbursement. Fortunately no one was injured and our granddaughter was not in her car seat at the time. This could have been very dangerous if my wife would have been opening the lift gate when the glass shattered. Gm said this appeared to be an isolated incident and I offered to send them links to other identical complaints that I found. I would like the NHTSA to please look into this as this does not seem to be an isolated incident and there was no warning of this failure. The glass was in excellent condition prior to this happening and the vehicle has never been in an accident and is in excellent condition.

Unknown Or Other problem #12

The oil level indicator in the dash panel is no longer functioning. A call to the dealer where car was purchased confirms that this is part of an "instrument cluster" that also controls the speedometer, and that it will probably malfunction as well.

Unknown Or Other problem #13

The speedometer on my instrument panel cluster malfunctioned. Problems included the needle sticking in one place, not moving down when decelerating, and even spinning to the "6 o'clock" position below the gague. I called Chevrolet to find out information and they were not able to offer me any help or reimbursement assistance.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

The speedometer does not reset itself when the vehicle slows or stops. Insted, it resumes from a higher speed. For example, if you are travelling at 45mph and stop at a stoplight the spoodometer may drop to 40mph upon stopping. Then when you resume travelling it starts from 40 instead of 0 so the speedometer shows you are travelling 60 when you are going 20, 70 when you are going 30 etc. When you stop again it will come to rest at an even higher speed, until eventually the needle shows over 120 mph when the vehicle is sitting still! I have done some investigation on line and this appears to be a fairly common complaint from fellow owners. General motors apparently dopes not consider this a safety issue and as such will not pay for the repair which is $500 or more. I'm not sur how not knowing you rate of travel is not a safety concern for them, but it certainly is to me.

Unknown Or Other problem #15

My 2005 chevy Trailblazer speedometer stopped working. This started as an intermittant problem and has progressivly gottan worse. There seems to be no corolation between outside temps and when it works. When it does work it displays inaccurate speeds. This seems to be a consistant problem in 2005 Trailblazers based a an internet search for the same problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #16

Our 2005 chevy Trailblazer's speedometer just quit working. We can be sitting at a complete stop and the speedometer will read 50mph. It will randomly change and later will even drop below the zero mark. We have no idea how fast we are traveling when this occurs. Yesterday, while driving from OH to in, I had to guess how fast I was goin on the freeway. The speedometet started our reading 45mph, so I estimated that I had to travel at 110 mph to go 65mph. The problem became worse when I noticed that my speedometer was jumping from one speed to the next, not gradually climbing like it should have been. This problem is a random occurance. I never know when to excpect it. Obviously, there are serious consequences that can ensue. Speeding tickets, endangering others' as well as our own lives by driving too fast or too slow, or causing accidents in general. Nothing has been done to correct the problem since the car is out of warranty and I am underemployed and we cannot afford to replace the instrument cluster at this time.

Unknown Or Other problem #17

I bought my2005 Trailblazer new in 2006. The rear driver side door quit working and I had to use a bungee cord to keep it shut until I got it in to a mechanic to look at. I was told that somehow water got inside the door and damaged the components mechanic was able to get the door to shut but warned me if it was opened again it may not shut so it has been duct-taped up so my children won't inadvertently use it. I noticed rust on the top of the vehicle in front of the moon roof very early on. The rear passenger door has to be opened gently from the back portion of the handle as it appears it is going to break off in the near future. The rear hatch and also the glass portion of the hatch back has now stopped working. It was brought in for an oil change and I asked the mechanic to check it out he was able to get it unlocked a couple times by pressing the auto unlock on the key repeatedly (more than 3 times he said) I have not been as fortunate and have not been able to use the rear quarters now because of this.

Unknown Or Other problem #18

Speedometer malfunctioning, mosst times reads 100-110 mph standing still or while moving.

Unknown Or Other problem #19

Im having ploblems with my speedometer and it works when it wants to work and most of the time I never know how fast im going do to this ploblem. I can't afford to be having these ploblems with my vehicle.

Unknown Or Other problem #20

Speedometer fails to function intermittently. May read 0 mph while driving at freeway speeds, or 100+ mph while at a dead stop. May read normally at other times.

Unknown Or Other problem #21

The speedometer, fuel gauge & oil pressure gauge do not work. I've look this problem up and there are thousands of complaints regarding these issues - why hasn't this been recalled!!!.

Unknown Or Other problem #22

This is a bad truck.
