general problems of the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Five problems related to seats have been reported for the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Seats problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2011

The first problem I had with my 2005 Trailblazer was right after I purchased it. There was a problem when you tried to pump gas it would keep kicking the pump off. I took it to the dealership from which I had bought it. They worked on it said it was fixed, but it would do it at certain pumps. Then I had a problem with he passenger seat's sidepiece popped off and they fixed that but now the driver's side has done the same along with the lumbar support quit working. Then the speedometer went crazy, it was all over the place and made a real bad noise. The dealership quoted off it would be over $400. 00 to fix it. Then the gas gauge popped up the "dummy light" as we call it when gas is getting low. The gauge quit registering the amount of gas in the tank. Then during the heat of summer the front fan quit working, the air conditioner worked and the other fans worked. I got a letter about the gas sensor and how I would have to pay half of it. That is a lot of money not counting the collision insurance and taxes and other expenses I have paid. They should be glad to help the working people who have always bought Chevrolets. I will say this if they do not uphold some kind of quality on this high end automobile the next car I buy will not be an american because they won't stand by their products. It is just inappropriate that there have been a lot of the same complaints as I have about my car. I called the number on the paper that came out about the gas sensor and spoke with a nice lady named quin or queen, she set it up for me to bring my car in for diagnostic check. I should know what all is damaged and in need of repair and how much will come out of my pocket.

2 Seats problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2008

While driving the 2005 chevy Trailblazer, my wife smelled smoke. She pulled into a parking lot and opened the door - and the driver's seat proceeded to billow smoke. The police and fire departments responded - the seat was ripped out of the vehicle and the vehicle and seat were extinguished with foam - the vehicle had a powered driver's seat but not heated seats. The vehicle is currently in an auto body shop.

3 Seats problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2008

The side control panel for the driver's seat has come loose and has be come a concern that it may fall off completely and onto my legs as I'm driving. I weight about 145 and don't believe this should be happening to a vehicle that is only 3 years old.

4 Seats problem

Failure Date: 01/29/2007

Bought vehicle 8/10/05. Fifteen months later on 1/29/07, I had to replace the front seat adjuster actuator assembly on the driver side. The safety hazard is that I had to drive 3 weeks with pillows propped behind me & using my tip-toes on the gas and brake peddles until the part was replaced. The seat stopped working a few months ago and it took a week to get an appointment at the dealer. That week I had to drive with pillows propped behind me & using my tip-toes on the gas and brake peddles on the interstate to get to work. When they finally got it in the shop, there was nothing wrong with it. This morning getting ready to go to work, my seat did not work again. I drove to work using tip-toes and pillows. When I was leaving work, the seat worked. Having to rely on pillows and tip-toes because of an unreliable driver side front seat adjuster actuator assembly is an extreme safety hazard to myself and everyone around me.

5 Seats problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2005

New 2005 chevy Trailblazer. The selt belt is built into the seat itself. When putting on the seat belt, it crosses over my neck and across the throat. Twice the seat belt has locked when over the neck and throat about choked me. The dealer, the service manager all agree that this is a safety issue, as the seat belt laying over my neck could in an accident break it. Called gm does not have any resoltion to the issue or offered any options. The dealer is trying to work this out and not getting any help from gm. Both the dealer and myself are getting the run around on this. Due to the safety issue with the seat belt I am concerned about driving the car. I am not sure what to do, gm or chevy is not taking the dealer or myself that this is a serious safety issue. Been going on for over 3 weeks, without help. No one wants to take responsibility or provide help.
