35 problems related to power window have been reported for the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Drivers door window regulator want out. This vehicle has a recall #12180 for door switch replacement which fluid can enter drivers door and can cause shorts.
2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Consumer seeks reimbursement for vehicle repairs. The consumers first reimbursement claim was denied, because payment could not be confirmed with the repair shop.
Pushed to put passenger window down and would not go up, stuck open. Evidently the window regulator broke at a part cost of about 300. 00. Just had in for a blower problem where the blower came on while the car was just sitting in the garage with no keys or anyone in it. That was 400. 00 some dollars. This car does not seem like it should be having these problems.
I had gone to a friends house and on the way home my power steering malfunctioned. I took the vehicle to a local auto repair shop and was told the power steering cooler had rusted through. I also had to replace this part on my 2003 Trailblazer not realizing there was a problem. If this part rusts out on different years of the same model there seems to be a problem. The vehicle became very hard to steer. I know for a fact that I and many other people have had problems with transmission lines gasoline lines and power steering lines. I had to replace the gasoline line and fuel pump on the 2003 , and just replaced transmission line on the 2007. I think there needs to be an engineering change on these vehicles. I also received a recall notice on the 2007 Trailblazer for the electric window switch. The notice said I would be notified when to bring my vehicle in. It has been several months since I received the notice and I am still waiting for notification. It cost me $350. 00 to have the power steering repaired. .
I got into my vehicle Saturday (1-19-2013) to drive into town to do some errands. I tried to put down my driver side window and the switch would not work. I got into town and went to the store. Upon leaving the store I tried my window again and it went down 1/4 of the way and stopped. Now it is stuck 1/4 of the way down. On occasion I have smelled something that smelled like wiring getting hot but could never pinpoint the cause.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that while attempting to open the front driver's side window, the control module failed to respond. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that the power window switch failed. The manufacturer was contacted to schedule repairs but the contact was informed that the parts were not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also stated that three months was an extremely long time to wait for a recall remedy repair. The failure and current mileages were 69,000.
Hi, the windows in my Trailblazer won't open. Then open sometimes but then close themselves. I can hear crackling inside the driver side door and the power is also surging throughout my truck, I then hear clicking. I am in canada, not montana, but there is a USA recall on a door module that I think is the problem. I am writing you because it wasn't disclosed to me at the time of my purchase, but my truck was bought used in the USA, brought into canada by a dealer, it was apparently a rental at one time, and it was sold to me by southpark used lot in edmonton, ab in late 2007. This is the used car lot for don wheaton chevy/olds, it had approximately 18,000km on it. I found out it was a rental from a chevy salesman about 3-4 years later when I went to see about trading it in. I have had many problems with this truck and it has not been the reliable vehicle I needed with kids but I have been forced to deal with it not able to afford another. I actually bough a second car 2 years ago for $550, it's a 87 thunderbird coup lx and I have had to use this car many many times because the truck isn't working half the time and it costs me piles and piles of money, it's very stressful. I am a single parent and doing my best like everyone else just to get by. I am not asking for anything special here. I have had to pay a lot to keep this truck on the road already, I have had many issues that the chevy dealer would not fix because they say they can't "recreate" the issues and yet I take it to a non dealer mechanic and they find the issues just fine and this is wrong because I had full warranty to pay it all. Please see recall: 12180 established this year, I would be very grateful if someone could help. We are in full swing of winter here and I need to have functioning windows and do not want to catch fire especially with someone else with me, children or grandma, please.
Came out of work 11:30 pm to find the drivers door window down on a rainy night. As I got close I could smell the elec. /plastic fire smoke smell. My seat and floor were soaked from the rain. I could not put the window up and had to drive home wet. I had the dealer where I bought it check it out and was told the door module had melted from fire from a shot and was lucky the car did not burn. I have called Chevrolet assistance center about 5 times and was told I have to wait parts are not available.
The power window switch in the drivers side door was melting and extremely hot to the touch. The switch burned out and we had to remove it to prevent a potential fire. I telephoned gm about it as there had been a recall on my year and model of car but I was told my car didn't fall into the recall. Clearly I have the same issue that was reported by others and this has been an issue with that switch since I owned the vehicle. It would stop working then come back on. I took it to them once before but the switch was working so they said there was no issue.
My Trailblazer was parked in the morning. When I approached my car to go home after work, I found that the driver side window was lowered. I entered my car and noticed a burning smell. I opened the window module and found that the driver's side power window switch was burned. I tried to buy the window module via online and found that there is an investigation going on by NHTSA.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the driver side window failed to open or close. Also, he was unable to adjust the side mirrors. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the driver side control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The failure and current mileage was 61,000.
Drivers side window and lock control panel does not work. Control panel for side mirrors does work. I cannot lock my doors from the drivers side or roll up/down any windows in my vehicle from the drivers side . . The passenger side window and lock control panel works, rear drivers side window control panel works, and rear passenger side window control panel works. I have had the fuses checked and they are all fine. I have a child and "liked" to keep my back windows locked for the safety of my child, now that my control panel does not work I cannot lock my windows when needed for the safety of my child. I do not have any control over the locks or windows from the drivers door. My keyless entry will unlock all passenger doors and rear hatch, but I have to manually lock the drivers door when exiting my vehicle and use my key to manually unlock the drivers door to get into my vehicle. I see many complaints about this being an issue with this make and model chevy. Not just the complaints and issues with this problem, how about the safety of our kids having control over their windows and locks????? when the driver should have control over window, locks ect. . . . . . . Per law the driver is responsible for everyone in any vehicle. . . . How can the driver of these vehicles with this ongoing problem be in control of the locks and windows if they do not work???? this could cause minor to fatal injuries with small children including adults. This needs to be a recall on gm!.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the console on the drivers side door caught fire while the contact was closing the window. The contacts mechanic stated that the entire motor and actuator for the window needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 66,105. The current mileage was 67,001.
Left front window went to the down position by itself, while unattended, and burned the window switch/module, burned wiring.
I will soon be replacing my 3rd fuel pump. You can not purchase a sending unit separately and you can not replace a fuel filter for maintenance. Also the master window switch stopped operating yesterday after a burning smell filled the truck. The master window switch is melted. Had issues with I first bought the truck with it "shutting down" on the highway, no gas, no power steering, no control. Received a year of free oil changes from chevy after a complaint was filed, they still to this day can not tell my why my truck would randomly shut down. . . . . Updated 06/18/12 updated ivoq 06/20/12.
Driver side window controller melted.
The Trailblazer died when my wife and children was sitting at a red light and when she started it back the motor was making a loud knocking noise. She pulled it to the side of the road and called a tow truck and had it towed into a garage. The mechanic said that the engine was shot. There was no indication anything was wrong when it happened all the gauges were showing everything to be good there was no noise in engine or any warning lamps lit up on the dash. We had the oil changed just 2-3 weeks ago. We have only had the vehicle for 8 months. Also, the driver side window switch has been acting up when you press the switch to put down the window it will not go into automatic down.
The windows on my 2007 Trailblazer ss are constantly (nearly daily) getting stuck in the down or up position and do not respond to the switches. The vehicle must be turned off and on several times for the computer to make the windows work again. I've been caught passing through heavy rains on the highway with windows that won't roll up without the opportunity to safely pull over and turn the vehicle on and off a dozen times to make the windows temporarily work again. It also affects the door locks from completely locking leaving my vehicle vulnerable to theft.
2007 Trailblazer ss drivers door module/window switch on my normal commute to work, I had noticed a faint burning smell of plastic that would only linger in the cabin for a few seconds. The smell continued for almost a week with the same symptoms and then disappeared for almost 4 days. After the smell of burning plastic was no longer there, one night while driving, the drivers door module lights (drivers, passenger, rear windows, window locks, and lock) were flickering and noticeably power surging. I was concerned about this issue so I had done some research online looking for any information that may lead to a solution to my problem and if any other Trailblazer owners were experiencing the same problem. Seemed to be a pretty popular problem among Trailblazer owners ranging from 2004 and up. Some research indicated that wires may had been broken inside the insulation that goes from the interior of the car to the door. I had the vehicle inspected at a chevy dealership and they told me that the ddm was functional and just needed a fuse replacement. That same night when moving the vehicle from the street to my driveway, smoke started pouring from the top of the door panel and it was obvious that plastic was burning and on fire. I then pried the drivers door module off and noticed a dime sized hole right under where the drivers window switch button is located. That hole still singing I disconnected the ddm and have been driving with non-operational windows ever since.
While driving my car today I tried to roll the window down on the drivers side. The window would go down and then automatically go up. I tried all the windows and they would all go down and automatically go up. I took it to the repair shop. The left master window switch was stuck in the down position. They tried to reset it and now the left master window switch will not respond at all. They said the switch was getting very hot while they were diagnosing the problem.
Failure of the passenger side window while driving in frigid weather. Almost causing a major accident. Contacts and phone consultations with gm customer service and their regional representative for albuquerque, new mexico led nowhere. Gm's regional rep--named eileen, tel. 866-790-5700 ext 41068--was unconcerned about this chronic, documented safety hazard on the Trailblazer. Power window and other electrical failures are known to be common to the Trailblazer. Gm at first suggested they may pick up part of the repair costs, then refused despite acknowledging that this was a common problem with this vehicle. They are unconcerned about my wife being put in severe danger while driving on the highway on a frigid night. We have had multiple electrical failures common to this unsafe vehicle. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I was having problems with the drivers side door control panel for about 3 days. On 2/22/12 the controls did not work for the drivers side window and the window was stuck in the up position. On 2/23/12 when returning to my vehicle the window was in the complete down position. I started my vehicle in attempt to roll up the window but the controls didn't work. After about 15 seconds I noticed a burning plastic smell coming from the controls. I immediately shut off the vehicle and popped off the control module to find smoke coming out of the opening. I disconnected the wires and removed the module. I could see what appears to be an internal fire in the module due to the melted plastic and housing of the unit. I'm glad that I have some sense of mechanical aptitude because this could have caused a lot of damage.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. While driving approximately 55 mph, the contact smelled a burning odor. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the mechanic stated that the master window switch melted in the front driver’s side door. The mechanic also stated that the master window switch would have to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 119,000.
Lowered drivers window after a minute or two smelled plastic burning saw smoke coming from control panel I ripped the panel out to see melted plastic and stronger smell of plastic burning control box is melted completely thru I pulled all but two connector plugs as the remaining two connectors are fused to the control box and can not disconnect them.
I woke up one morning to a smoky garage and noticed my driver door module had caught on fire, luckily the whole truck did not catch on fire in my garage while my family and I were inside our home sleeping. I can no longer control the power windows and locks in my truck. I contacted my local chevy dealer and they tried charging me nearly $1000. 00 for a module and door panel replacement and notified me there were no such recalls on my vehicle at this time. This is not the first incident I also had another fire while at a drive through window, the wiring to the cigarette lighters inside my vehicle caught on fire a few weeks after the door again the chevy dealer said there are no recalls and I would have to pay out of pocket. So many what if questions come to mind. This is not the only Trailblazer I have known or read upon to have electrical issues or even fire damage. Gm definitely needs to take responsibility before there is harm to anyone due to these unknown fires.
I noticed months ago that the lights weren't working on the power windows switches on the driver's side of the truck. I have definitely noticed some odd smells (burning/melting/plastic/chemical) that I was never sure where they were coming from. Before the issues with the lights, which was probably around the beginning of November, the one touch window opening control button (all the way down with only one touch instead of holding the window button) stopped functioning, the window would stall in the middle of either closing it or opening it and when it didn?t stall and closing/opening was successful it would be very, very, very, very, very slow. The window in my truck is now dead. It will not operate at all. I went to try to shut it Monday night and it wouldn?t shut, there is about 2-3 inches of space where the window is down. There is no power to any of my window controls, or to my power locks on the driver?s side. While doing some research on this issue I came upon this site where others had listed very similar problems. I also understand that this is currently under investigation to see if a recall is warranted. Given that this is a very well known problem, what recourse is there for the unsuspecting consumer? I purchased this vehicle less than 1 year ago as a used vehicle.
I have had several problems with my window regulators, I had the switch and electrical replaced on the driver side door and I am having a problem with the window not working again. Also, now the window regulator is broken on the passenger side door. At the same time I am also having an issue with the electrical, I can tell that in combination with the window problems the lighting on the dashboard where the light is dimmed on one side. Overall, the windows are a huge safety concern with the fact they won't roll up or down depending on the issue and I'm concerned with the fire concern because it does it appear when the dealership fixed the driver side window there appeared to be melting of something that could have been burnt.
My husband was driving with the whole family in the car, it was raining that morning and only a minute into our drive, the drivers door window rolled down by itself. . . He pushed the switch for the window to go back up. . The window went back up and not even 30seconds later it rolled down again on its own. . . At about the same time smoke started billowing out of the drivers door, the smoke filled the car, it smelled like an electrical fire. We were only a block from home so we took the car home, pulled the interior from the door where we discovered the switches that control the locks, windows, and side mirrors were all melted and still smoking. . . We disconnected all the switches and are without use of any drivers door electrical switches.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that before exiting the vehicle, he smelled smoke and noticed smoke coming from the driver's side door. The vehicle was inspected by the owner and he saw that the smoke was coming from the power window switch. The driver's side door power window switch was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.
I was going into the drive through bank window and when I went to open my window it would not go down. The other windows worked but not from the main switch. I called the dealer and they said I need a new module which is going to cost me $300 to replace which I do not have . After doing some research this seems to be a problem with this model.
At 45,000 miles I have had to have the tierods replaced and there is still something wrong with the passenger side wheel assembly, but they can't seem to figure out what the squeak is. It could be a bearing I have been told, but they don't know without tearing it all down. 2nd is the power window on the drivers side is getting slower to come up and I can smell wires burning at times (although I am not sure if the 2 are related) I have also had to replace the "idler pulley" at 42,000 miles. . . . . This seems ridiculous as it keeps turning out to be one thing after another?????.
On vacation with my family last summer the windows upon entering the vehicle started to go up and down all by themselves. It almost caught my sons arm inside of it. After a few minutes the windows stopped and remained down. We couldn't get them to go back up for a few hours and had to leave them down overnight. The next morning my husband went out, turned the key, pushed the buttons and they all went back up. He told us not to touch the windows just in case weren't able to get them back up. Once we returned from vacation I took it to a suggested mechanic as per my warranty company. They diagnosed it as the master window switch, the gentlemen told me that they are about 2-3 hundred dollars and are not covered under warranty, imagine that!well I paid the gentlemen for his time and have been without windows for over a year now because I make my 500 payment every month and do not have the extra money not only for the part but then for labor and to have it programmed by an authorized dealer. Now I see that this is a common problem with this year Trailblazer, are we waiting for someone to die before we issue a recall? I sent an email to gm about it and they did contact me, what they said is to once again have it diagnosed at an authorized gm dealer (ok more $) then they would look at the report and if they ok it I would then be reimbursed for everything (ok good one) I just had it diagnosed and still have the report but I need to get another one, come on people I don't make your salary and have 2 kids to support! . So I took it, well when I talked to the gm dealer they said just to look at it will be about 100 so I cancelled the appointment. That is very sad that gm would knowingly let this go on with out offering to fix the problem. I will never buy another gm motors vehicle in my life, sad to say that I will be buying not made in the USA vehicles from here on out. ## VIN passed ## chevy Trailblazer 2007 ## updated 8/22/12.
First occurrence, driver window would not go down early summer 2010. I brought it into the chevy I bought my car from and the window part was replaced. From time to time I would smell burning but I didn't think it was my car, it didn't happen every time I was driving so I couldn't explain it to chevy. I got into an accident January 2012 and had to bring it to a body repair shop and thy noticed the driver door electrical system has melted. Since it's a 2007 my warranty is expired and I paid the body shop to replace the part $425. I called chevy because I saw in the news that these parts are being investigated for catching on fire and they said that the next time I smell burning or melting I need to bring it to them right away.
The power window control shorted out in the driver's door and caused a fire inside the door. . . Updated 04/19/12.
