36 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

It has happened several times normally when there is snow on the roads, I will be driving the speed limit when suddenly the traction stabilizer control/abs lights come on the dashboard and the car started decelerating quickly coming to a halt. Even though I press the gas pedal no acceleration happens. I have to turn off the engine and restart. The remainder of my drive the traction stablizer control/abs stay on until I come to my destination. This is not safe. The chevy dealership says there is no recall on this. This is a problem and needs to have a recall out on this issue. This has happened multiple times, thankfully this car is driven just to and from work for short distances. Please notify me once a recall has been put in place.

37 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2016

While driving in town (no more than 30 mph), a beep occurs and an error - no traction control - service stabilitrack - engine power reduced. I am then unable to go over 10 mph. The check engine light also comes on at the end of this. I have to pull over, stop my car and restart in order to assume regular speed, however, it did happen twice in a drive that was only 10 miles long.

38 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2016

Traction control comes on stating traction control is off and engine power reduces to 20 mph and will not accelerate pass 20mph I was on the expressway traveling about 50 mph when the traction light came on and reduced power to 20mph no throttle.

39 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2016

2011 chevy Traverse. Sporadically decelerates while driving, flashes traction control off and service stabiltrak, check engine light. Pull over and let it "rest" for 15 minutes, it will resume driving. Have already had this issue "repaired" from chevy store10 months ago. Mostly occurs while in motion, once while driving 70mph on hwy decelerated to 35 mph and almost caused accident. Now dealership is suggesting I make another expensive fix, which may or may not fix the issue. This car is a lemon!!!! today we are blocking traffic in a parking deck because it has decided to happen again, no drive, but reverse works fine.

40 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2016

While driving at around 40mph, service stabilitrak/ service traction control warnings came on. While making a turn, the engine cut out and I was just able to pull off to the side of the road. This problem occurred after 4 fuel injectors were clogged requiring new injectors, new oxygen sensors and damage to all three catalytic converters. Air bag warnings come on intermittently, as do the tire sensor warnings. I'm now finding out that these stabilitrak issues have been ongoing for years with various chevy awd models, while gm does nothing about it.

41 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2016

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle independently decelerated to 25 mph. The stabilitrac warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000. The VIN was not available.

42 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2016

On my way to work on route 30 when the following appears:service traction control, service stabilitrack, engine power reduced. Called chevy dealer by work in merrillville in no appt until today . Called dealership by home was told no appt until today at 1pm. Inquires if was issue in which letter dated in November 2015 and was no. Took vehicle to local repair shop and was told it is the issue stated in letter. Have dealership look at vehicle to have it CO weed under warranty. Called dealership back and was told close to $500. 00 for repairs and nothing can be done because now vehicle is outside mileage. This could have been avoided if the part was changed after letter was received in November 2015. Vehicle would have been under 120,000 miles. Have had problems with vehicle since we bought I it. Air conditioning, water pump, windshield washer pump now throttle body. How does the dealership expect the car note as well as the repair bill to be paid with all of the problems with this vehicle???.

43 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/17/2016

In January 2016, my vehicle started having stability track issues. It got so bad I had the car sit up for a month then called a mechanic out to diagnosis the car. They sent me to the chevy dealership and they fixed something within the steering, but that did not stop my stabilitrak from malfunctioning. While driving the stabilitrak light turns on and says it needs servicing. Then it makes the engine slow down and it starts stalling so we have to pull over and turn the car off and turn it back on for it to do the same thing again within minutes. If the cruise control is on it turns it off starts to stall and puts my family and I in danger, I just thank god we've been able to alleviate major accidents. It's been one minor accident but because we were already going slow it didn't affect either car, so we let it go especially because our vehicle was at fault not the people behind us.

44 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2016

1/5/16 I was driving down the road in my town, taking my children to school, and the car reduced from 40mph to 20mph. The car gave a message on the dash stating "service stabilitrack, reduced engine power". I drove the car to the dealer from which it was purchased, and they cleaned the throttle body. The car ran ok until 1/14/16, when the exact same thing happened- I was driving my children to school and the car reduced speed to 20mph with the same "service stabilitrack, reduced engine power" message. The car was taken to the dealer, and is currently there waiting for the throttle body to arrive and be replaced.

45 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2015

Driving down the interstate at 70 mph, the dic display error reads stabilitrak needs servicing, traction control off, and reduced engine power. It slowed me down from 70 mph to 25 mph in less than 20 seconds. I had to get over 3 lanes of heavy traffic onto the shoulder. This vehicle almost caused a major accident. I know there have been many complaints with gm vehicles regarding this issue. Just how many people have to die before a recall is issued?.

46 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2015

While driving errors pop up for stabiltrak/traction control/engine power reduced then you get about then you lose about 20% to 60% of power. It can happen anywhere at anytime while driving.

47 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2015

I have a 2011 chevy Traverse 2 lt, it started giving me traction control light telling me that it disable traction control and service traction control. At the time the light turns on the vehicle was on a highway doing 65 mph to and vehicle lost power to 20 mph reducing speed to a dangerous level on the highway. I took it to a chevy dealer and they told me the throttle body had a short.

48 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2015

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse. While driving at various speeds, the electronic stability traction control and check engine warning indicators were illuminated. The vehicle accelerated independently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.

49 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/26/2015

I was driving to work and luckily had already gotten off the freeway, driving aprox. 35mph the vehicle started to loose speed, a couple of msgs were popping up "stabilitrac off" "service stability control" "reduced engine power". The speed dropped down to about 5 mph, I had to pull over in order for the vehicles behind me to pass me. I put the vehicle on park and while idling, it started vibrating. I turned it off and then turn it back on. After this it seemed to be doing good. , enough for me to get to work.

50 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2015

While driving on snow covered roads on 2/21/2015, a notification came on the instrument panel "service stabilitrack", "engine power reduced". The car would not go above 40mph. I turned the car off and started it again, as instructed in the owner's manual. The same thing happened. The next day it was fine. It did not happen again until tonight (3/3/2015). Again, on snowy roads on the way home from work, the same warning came on and the engine power was reduced. In researching this, it is apparently a common complaint.

51 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2015

Driving on the highway in nh in traffic when stabilitrac/reduced power/traction control light came on and car slowed down to 15 mph on a busy highway. Barely made it off the next exit as car wouldn't go over 10 mph. Luckily the cars behind me did not slam into me as it was a dangerous situation. A recall is needed is it is a serious safety issue.

52 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2015

I was traveling to work this morning (2/18/15) on a missouri state highway and suddenly power was reduced dramatically on my 2011 Chevrolet Traverse. I immediately looked at my dic and noticed the following readings listed: "service stable track", "engine power reduced", "traction control off", "service traction control". Also, my check engine light came on as well. I was able to pull over to the shoulder of the highway but my maximum speed was only 15 mph. I stopped on the shoulder of the highway and put the vehicle in park and then put back in drive. I went back in to traffic but my maximum speed was only 40 mph. After arriving at my office, I noticed the engine appeared to not being running properly, as if it wasn't getting the right fuel/oxygen mixture. I called the gm dealership to inform them of the problems and took the vehicle to them for testing. They diagnosed the problem as needing to replace the throttle body and the part would not be in until tomorrow. I will be picking the vehicle up tomorrow after the repair and I hope this doesn't happen again because if my wife or son had been driving the vehicle, it may have resulted in an accident on the highway. This is something that should never happen in a vehicle, the chance of an accident on a busy interstate or highway is very likely when your speed in reduced dramatically.

53 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2015

I purchased this 2011 chevy Traverse in Feb. Of 2015, so I believed it to be a fairly new car in good shape. Not even a month later the gas hand becomes faulty and is not showing the correct amount of gas, and starts fluctuating. Next I'm riding on the freeway and the truck immediately starts slowing down and reads loss of engine power and shuts off right in the middle of the freeway. Now I am freaking out with me and my kids in the car and others flying around me doing 75 to 80 mph to my decreasing speed. I was scared for my life and my children's lives as cars and trucks are speeding around and honking at me. The truck dies and I barely manage to get to the side so that I would not be hit. I then get the car towed to the local dealership who then says that the truck needs a water pump which turns out to be under my extended warranty. They also reset my fuel sensor because they say they tested it and it was still good. So it only cost me $100. 00. I pick my truck up and it works fine for less than a month and starts up again. I run out of gas on a busy street and get another tow. Back to the Chevrolet house it goes. This time they reset the check engine light and says its still not the fuel pump, sensor, or anything because they cannot find anything at all. I go pick it up once again and on my way home ran out of gas, while the gas level is reading right at half a tank. I know there was gas in the tank when I ran out and when the truck was towed. The dealership kept my vehicle for a whole week and all they did was got the truck on level ground, obviously, and the truck ran all the gas out while parked and they were 'trying to find the problem'. So now the gas hand is not working at all and I'm always putting gas in it and taking a chance because nobody knows whats wrong. This vehicle has been nothing but a headache and this problem needs recalling before one dies.

54 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2015

Vehicle had error messages, service traction control, traction control is off, service stabilitrax, engine power is reduced. Vehicle was slow to accelerate and experienced decreased speed. Vehicle vibrating while idling. Was told by dealer not to continue to drive the vehicle because others with same error messages stalled out while driving the vehicle, could not get the car restarted and had to be towed. The sudden slow acceleration and decreased speed are safety issues which need to be addressed by GMC before someone gets killed or seriously injured. Dealership said codes were p2176, p0121 and p0221 all related to tps sensor. Replaced throttle body, total cost $607. 42. Not covered under power train warranty or extended warranty. According to a blog, in approximately 2009 GMC stopped covering the throttle body under the power train warranty even though vehicles manufactured after 2009 continue to have the same issues. Additionally, blogs indicate that even when the problem gets fixed by the dealer (at the owner's expense), the same issue tends to arise again. This issue needs to be addressed with a recall by GMC as soon as possible with the owner's duly compensated for any costs they may have incurred.

55 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2015

I was driving at approximately 65 mph on a highway when the tcs turned off by itself a message indicator came on stating reduced power tcs off service stabilitrak. I took it to a jack williams since they were the only ones open on at the time. They inspected the car and determined I had a bad battery and replaced it. The tcs started working again and worked until 2/16/15 when again traveling on a highway at 65mph the tcs turned off by itself. I got off the highway shut off the car. A few minutes later I restarted and drove home on a back road. 5 miles from my house the tcs again turned off again. A minute later the engine light came on. I took it to a chevy dealership at motorworld. They determined that the throttle body was blocked. My choices were to flush the system which they would not guarantee the would fix the problem as they do not take the throttle body itself apart to see if it is servicable or to replace the throttle body and flush the system. The dealership stated that flushing the system is part of the preventative maintenance and should be done every 40,000 miles. Upon looking in my owners manual I found no requirement that this is a preventative maintenance item. If it was the manufacturer should have listed it in the manual. I researched forums and found that I was not the only person with this issue. This was a severe safety issue as you lose power and drop speed quickly which could have caused an accident. Below is the link to the forum on edmunds. Com. If chevy took safety seriously they should have a direct compliant section on their website to complain to so that all cars problems are tracked. . 56 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2015

On 2/3/15 driving 60mph on the 1-87 my steering wheel began to vibrate on and off. Then drove about 5 miles further then my stabilitrack and traction control failed with its indication on the dash board then the vehicle skid symbol lit up and the dashboard stated engine loss of power and the vehicle slowing began to deaccelerate to about 40mph and I had to pull over on the shoulder and had my vehicle towed to chevy dealer. I was told it was my throttle body. Which I see seems a big problem for a lot of 2011 Traverse owners. The repair will cost me nearly $700 after I replaced a burned out wireharness for $658 just 2 weeks ago!!!!.

57 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2015

I was driving and the traction indicator light appeared. A warning showing loss of engine power was displayed and the car slowed to about 15 mph. I had to pull over. I turned the Traverse off, and restarted it. I was able to drive home. The next day, the same thing happened. After restarting the car, I was able to get home. From what I've been reading, this is a very common occurrence for this vehicle. It should be recalled and fixed.

58 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/30/2015

When I pulled out of a driveway and began to drive down the street, my Traverse message board read, traction control off, engine power reduced, service stablitrac. I was unable to accelerate past 40 mph. My car was unsteady and shaky. I called gm and they stated that I have recalls issued on the car but none of them have anything to do with my current issue. It seems this is a common problem that gm is not addressing concerning a faulty throttle body. I am very frighten yo drive especially of highway and with my children in the car. I bought this vehicle because I believed it would be safe for my family.

59 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2015

Daughter was driving, with kids in car. 6:45pm 1/25/2015. Traction control warning light came on and acceleration dropped instantly. She pulled over and turned off vehicle. Restarted and still could not get past 45mph. Pulled over again and turned off for 5 minutes. When pulled back onto highway was able to proceed normally, edmunds forum and chevytraverse forums stated this has happened repeatedly.

60 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2015

Stabilitrak warning light engine losing power down to 20 mph. Went online this is an on going problem with many gm cars and should be fixed at the cost of the manufacturer.

61 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2015

While driving, the vehicle suddenly showed alerts reading traction control off, service traction control, service stabilitrak, and engine power reduced. At this time the vehicle immediately slowed down to 20mph. Thankfully my toddlers were not in the car and I did not have traffic behind me so that I could safely pull over to the shoulder. I turned off the vehicle for a few minutes and restarted again, at which time the same errors returned with the exception of engine power reduced, so that I could at least make it home. I immediately called my chevy dealer who completes all service on my vehicle, and I was told that this is a common problem, especially in the cold temperatures as oil tends to accumulate in the throttle body and freeze up, making the sensor go haywire, leaving the throttle unable to compensate for the changes, and the warnings to occur. I was told it would not be covered under the powertrain warranty and that there was no recall. I was also told that it wasn't a big deal and it should be fine when it warms up. I guess we differ in our opinion of whether a car shutting down in the middle of the highway or with my children in the car is a big deal. I guess we also differ in our opinions about whether a $40k vehicle should function in freezing temperatures that occur for four months of the year in the northeast. Chevrolet has issued recalls for this very issue with many other vehicles and some years of Traverses but not all. Chevrolet, you need to stand behind your vehicles. . . Take responsibility for the $100 part that can very easily be fixed in 15 minutes time instead of forcing customers to drive an unsafe vehicle or shell out upwards of $600 to make the repair. I love this car, probably my favorite vehicle I have ever owned, but this is a major problem.

62 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2015

On six separate occasions in 7 days, my vehicle has displayed the following messages, traction control off, check stabilitrak, and reduced engine power then suddenly reduces speed significantly unwilling to accelerate. I have to pull over, turn off the car and wait several minutes before I can turn the car back on for it to drive correctly. This is extremely dangerous and I know it is a recurring issue for many gm 2010-2012 vehicles and no recall or solution has been made yet.

63 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2015

I was driving along at 60 mph when my traction control light turned off, followed by "service stabilitrack", followed by "reduced engine power" and my vehicle went from 60 mph immediately down to 15 mph. If I were in heavy traffic or had any vehicles following me, this would have caused a major accident and potentially serious injuries, to me, my 1 year old son and whoever was behind me!!!.

64 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2015

I was driving along at 65 mph when the "stabiltrak off" light came on followed by the "traction control" light and the "engine power reduced" light. My Traverse slowed down to 15 mph on a busy interstate. I was very lucky to be able to get over to the side of the road. After reading the owners manual I shut the car off for about a minute, re-started it and everything seemed fine. The next day it started doing it again and now shutting it down and restarting it may or may not fix it. Taking it to the shop today but see alot of people having the same problem and it seems to re-occur frequently. Definitely seems like a recall item as it can create a very dangerous situation when the power is automatically reduced. Especially on a busy highway.

65 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2015

Driving on the road and all of a sudden the dashboard lights up. The car tells me that the "stabilitrack needs to be serviced" and "reducing speed". The car just slows down and I can't go above 15 mph in the middle of the road with cars all around me driving at the same speed. Thank god I was able to pull over to the right and get off the road. I shut car off and waited a few minutes. I turned car on and the system reset itself and car was fine. Now its doing it again as my wife drove it today. Researching online, I see many people are having this same problem. Gm needs to recall these vehicles and fix this problem. Someone is going to get killed in an accident!.

66 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2015

While traveling on the hwy at 65 mph I got a message on the dash that read "service traction control" then "service stabilitrack" then "engine power reduced" all simultaneously. Then I lost power and went drastically from 65 mph down to about 40 mph. I almost got ran over by a semi truck!! I pulled vehicle to the side and slowly made my way to the nearest exit. Once I got off the hwy I tried to make my way back home, but the power was reduced to a crawl, so I pulled into a parking lot and ended up having to get it towed to the shop. They diagnosed the car and found no mechanical issues, only what seemed to be a "glitch" in the computer system. Suggested that I may need to replace the throttle body. I picked up my car and it drove fine for 5 days then it did the same thing again, luckily I was in my neighborhood. Drove it home and parked it. The next morning it drove just fine, no issues, and today it happened again. I have spent the last few hours reading hundreds of other complaints describing the exact same scenario, and found that they are taking their vehicle into the dealer and getting parts replaced only to have it happen again and then more parts replaced and it continues in this cycle. . . This from only one forum and there are a number of others a like!.

67 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2015

I was driving on the highway in the fast lane and all of a sudden an error message started flashing. It stated that I needed to have my stability track serviced. About 2 seconds later it say that power would be reduced to my engine and then my vehicle slowed down immediately from about 65 mph to about 15 mph. I had to cross 3 lanes of traffic to get to the shoulder. I was horrified and prayed and thanked god that we were not killed. I had my daughter in the vehicle with me. We had to wait on the highway for a tow truck to tow us through the fort mchenry tunnel to safety. This apparently is a problem with this vehicle. Why haven't a recall been issued. Someone is going to die if this problem isn't fixed.

68 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2015

Driving at 65 miles per hour , the truck feels like it is losing power , the more gas I give it does not matter. The console say the stability control is off. I pulled off to the side of the road turned the car off and restarted it. It went for about 3 miles and came back on again . In researching this seems to be a defect as this does not appear to be uncommon. This is extremely dangerous. I am glad I was driving and not my 17 year old daughter. The dealer wants $600 to fix a throttle cable.

69 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2014

As I was driving, I received three messages on my vehicle: service traction control, service stabilitrak and engine running at reduced power. Took the car to my local mechanic and they flushed out something (I don't remember what exactly). It ran fine for a few weeks then as I was on the freeway the same messages appeared and as I was trying to accelerate up a slight incline, the car's speed was decreasing even though I was pushing on the gas. Luckily I was in the right lane and there was light traffic or there could have been a major accident as I could not increase speed. Took the car to the dealership who says I need the throttle body replaced and it will cost $600. After looking at this site, I see there are many, many complaints for the same issue. This should definitely be a safety recall!.

70 Electronic Stability Control problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2014

While driving 2011 Traverse the service traction control warning light came on. The service the stabilitrak light came on. While continuing to drive the car completely lost engine power. I was not able to accelerate. Had to pull over to the side of the road and wait 2-3 minutes. Restarted the car. Drove a few more miles down the road and happened again. No power at all in the engine. Could not accelerate. Pulled over to the side of the road and restarted. Was able to get to the dealer. Was told it was a throttle body control system that had to be replaced. While researching online appears to be a known problem at gm dating back to their 2004 models. No recalls have been issued but the problems continue.
