While driving the vehicle the engine will cut out. The truck will stutter and the check engine light will go on. A message will appear on the display: service stabilitrack, traction control turned off. A secondary message will display as reducing engine power and then the truck will stall. This has happened on several occasions while in traffic or driving down the highway in normal driving conditions. It has been occurring more frequently. Once the vehicle sits for 20 to 30 minutes it will usually start back up. The check engine light remains on. Once the vehicle is parked overnight the check engine light usually goes off. I have seen that this is a common complaint with this vehicle. I fear for the safety of myself and my family as this can happen at any time. We have almost been rear ended by a tractor trailer doing 65 mph on the highway. Luckily I was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road where it had to be towed. It was looked at by a service station and they were unable to diagnose any problem. The most recent occurrence was 1/20/21 while driving on city streets.
The Traverse randomly loses power and stalls while driving. The check engine light illuminates and a message stating vehicle reducing power appears on the display. The engine then cuts out. This has happened several time recently while in traffic as well as on the highway. It is very dangerous especially when on the highway doing 65 mph. It has been happening frequently with the latest occurrence 01/20/2021. Once the truck sits for approximately 20 to 30 minutes the vehicle will start and run. Sometimes the issue will happen again while driving, sometimes it will not. Typically once the vehicle sits overnight the engine light will go off by itself. I fear for the safety of my family while driving the vehicle as we have almost been involved in a couple accidents due to this issue.
2014 Chevrolet Traverse - 90k miles - service airbag dash light comes on at startup and stays on during normal driving. I see several similar complaints.
This is the second time this has happened while driving along at highway speeds unexpectedly get error messages, service traction control, service stabilitrak, traction control is off, engine power is reduced. The first time I was able to drive to a dealership. The second time I lost all power and was lucky that I was in a residential zone.
Replaced alternator 1 yr ago when my battery suddenly died. Fast forward to now it seems that the new alternator is failing in some capacity because of an improper design. The volt meter would drop below 14 while driving and have seen other reports from other Traverse owners with the same issue. Please issue a recall.
Please associated this complaint with tracking #11352061. I wanted to provide an additional pictures. I've watched and read a recall regarding these issues with several Chevrolet models over the years and over 1. 37 million vehicles were recalled. I believe this should be a recall. Attached is the code associated with the problem. Again I own a 2014 chevy Traverse lt warnings have come up twice in 1 week.
While driving along at highway speeds unexpectedly get error messages, service traction control, service stabilitrak, traction control is off, engine power is reduced. Now instead of reducing engine to 3 cylinders the engine is completely turned off. This is very dangerous if this happens in highway traffic as there is no power to maneuver the car onto the shoulder. I have been told by Chevrolet repair center that this is due to a short in the electrical system. Not sure if this is related to NHTSA campaign 14v614000. 0.
The airbag needs service going on and off but doesn't show a code at dealership. While driving speed reduces to 15mph out of nowhere once restarted no codes show. Car dies while driving randomly. No check engine lights coming on just extremely dangerous to drive.
While in motion vehicle goes up to the third rpm before taking off. Vehicle also jerks when picking up speed. The lighting system comes on and off during a ride at random regardless of the time of day. Vehicle makes loud noise when accelerating.
The display on the speedometer is barely visible. It is called the driver information center, but is attached to the speedometer. I am not able to see any information on it most of the time, particularly the day. The safety issue is I can not tell if my tires are to pressure, if my oil needs to be changed. I can not see the odometer. I have seen many people online have this issue. Someone's fix that seems to have worked for a few people is replacing the speedometer, which would be fine but then you have to get it reprogrammed by the dealer. Which is even more money for something that is essential to work in a car.
My wife was driving with our three children traveling approximately 60 mph. Her 2014 Chevrolet Traverse suddenly dropped to approximately 5-10 mph and she was forced to swerve off the road, nearly being rear-ended and seriously injured or killed. The check engine light came on, as well as, the engine power reduced light. Just as she made it to the shoulder of the road, the car shut off completely. She tried multiple times to start the car, but had no success. After about 30 minutes of being stranded on the shoulder of the road with my three children, she was able to start the car and drive to the nearest area to safely wait for a tow truck. This is the third time this has happened within the last five months! we have taken it to several different mechanics, including the Chevrolet dealer, and spent a lot of money trying to get it resolved but have had no success. We will no longer put our children in the car which was the reason we purchased it in the first place. This car is unreliable and unsafe and needs to be issued a recall. My entire family was almost killed or seriously injured because of this default in this vehicle.
Was a recall on some power steering pumps and faulty electrical systems in the 2014 chevy Traverse. Car making loud noise when turn wheel. Problem just diagnosed by mechanic. See my VIN not included in recall. Very dangerous. Found because turning the wheel has become difficult and it sounds like engine strained.
My 2014 chevy Traverse has been having this issue for months now. I will be driving and my service stabilitrak, traction control off, check engine light will light up, and engine power reduced will pop up. I can not go over 20 mph. At times the engine will become very stally, jerky, my steering wheel and brakes will be very hard to use. These are very random and non patterned I will have to safely pull over rather it be on a back road or a highway wherever it happens turn the engine off for 5-20 minutes and it will eventually clear everything but the check engine light; which will clear within that day or the next until the next time it happens. It has also cause my key to lock up in the ignition. This is very unsafe and scary. This is my family car and will eventually cause an accident and hurt myself, my kids, or someone else. If you google the issue there are tons of forums, websites, blogs that have the same issue with this car. I have spent numerous hours investigating the issue, lots of money replacing parts as recommended or by the check engine light and it continues to do this. Gm is going to have a lawsuit on their hands when someone gets seriously hurt over this issue because they are not doing anything about it.
While driving the car I received a airbag warning and speedometer went to zero. Immediately after my entire dashboard went dark. Car continued to drive with working headlights. It appeared to reset several times and then would work fine for a while. Before the same problem would come back. This time without the air bag warning. Happened in snowy wet conditions. It was multiple times on a city street, and multiple times on a highway.
Blind zone system needs service, causing blinkers to not work, steering column failed and radio quit working.
It keeps saying service airbags the first time it did this two weeks after purchase we took it back to dealer in sikeston and the replace connector under seat which cost us 800 dollars now for months later light is back on and with this light on the airbags are disabled which is a big safety problem for my family the issue needs be fixed because of safety reasons also a costly repair bill car has only 70 thousand miles what can I do to get this issue resolved with my vehicle it happened it September and now in December both times you start the vehicle it comes on an will not go off without costly repair that should not be charge for safety issues with vehicle.
My vehicle will first stall and slow down with engine power reduced and something about the traction control and stability track going across the dash right before my vehicle stops on me. This happens frequently at any moment and now I am unable to start it back up. I was told by pep boys that it is an electrical problem, with codes reading a shortage in the fuse box. I checked the web for any recalls and saw that others were having the same issues, yet no recalls. This is dangerous because my vehicle stops at any moment in the middle of a drive, even on the highway. Now I am without reliable transportation in my 2014 Traverse. I love my vehicle, but gm needs to fix this issue.
Driving the kids to school and the vehicle just cut off on the interstate and the traction control turned off. I was able to catch the exit and make it to the side. It would not start. It finally started and I was able to go two miles where it cut off again, holding up morning school and work traffic on the two lane road. There was no shoulder to pull off to. I just read where there was an issue with a short in the electrical system that causes the car to just shut off. I put my VIN number in the recall database to see what to do and it tells me my car is not on the recall list. This is dangerous and I fear for my family knowing these types of issues exist.
Tl-the contact called on behalf of the owner of a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse. The vehicle stalled while driving the contact was almost left stranded the contact stated that there were several electrical issues with the vehicle while driving at approximately 60-65 mph, without warning the vehicle stalled. The driver was able to restart and drive the vehicle to the residence at a reduced speed. The vehicle was taken to jim ellis Chevrolet, 5900 peachtree blvd, atlanta, GA 30341, (770) 457-8211, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that there was moisture in the fuse box which caused an electrical short. The driver was informed that the fuse box needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v614000 (electrical system). The failure was intermittent. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown. Ah.
Engine power comes up low power and I just brought a new battery which I know that not it. The car will throttle and then I can only go up to 20 miles per an hour and it's hard to steer. I will have to stop the car for twenty minutes and it will start back up with the engine light on. This is very dangerous to take on the highway or even drive especially I have kids in my car. What can I do???.
I'll be accelerating and my car will just jerk into gear as if it's having trouble shifting. The vehicle will also stall out when driving on the highway or in town, lose power and ding and the service stabilitrack alert comes on the dash. I have driven it straight to the dealership on several occasions and the vehicle doesn't throw a code and they can never duplicate the problem. After doing some research, I've learned that I'm not the only one with this problem and it been going on for some time. This is my first chevy and I will never purchase another. I love everything about this vehicle except for the issues I've had not being resolved. I will go back to Toyota after this. Very disappointing. I've owned the vehicle for 4 years and this error has occurred over 30 times. Unbelievable. The car will also jerk into gear when the vehicle slows for a curve or a vehicle in front of me is slowing and when I accelerate after passing the car jerks into gear.
A life and safety issue! with no warning the vehicle will suddenly shut off. It does not matter if you're moving on the freeway or parked, it is very intermittent and only happened three times in the last 6 to 8 weeks. Two different mechanics said error it's code p1682 is the fault but it will not duplicate the symptoms. I contacted chevy corporate and they knowledge other vehicles this year have a recall but claim mice VIN number is not affected and will do nothing. Hey fuel vehicle is in safe and do not want my family in it until I am certain it will not suddenly shut off while they are in motion.
Check engine light intermittently comes on and off. Car misfired and stalled while idling (parked). Took to mechanic and check engine code noted to bevp1682. Chevy recall 14187 and chevy recall 14007 are similar to these symptoms but currently our VIN in not included despite a similar situation. Fuel guage also reads inaccurately.
In the course of the last year my chevy Traverse has lost power on the freeway. Our traction control light has come on several times powering down the engine and placing us, me & my family in a very harmful situation. We have taken it to our mechanics they have diagnosed it and replaced several relays. That did not remedy the problem placing me on the freeway once again down in lax with my child in the car powering down & traction light coming on and pulling over and placing us in yet another dangerous situation. I have read the motor vehicle code for California title 49 section 301. This malfunction definitely poses an unreasonable risk to the public. Also, noted on NHTSA, national highway transportation safety administration website notes there is a recall on electrical system was reported.
I was entering the on-ramp going east and my vehicle completely stopped. I was going around 25-30 mph and I had my kids in the car. My computer forced my brakes and I was unable to drive the vehicle. My SUV literally made a full stop while driving at 25-30 mph with my kids in the car and no brake lights ignited. The check engine light and the traction control light came on. They eventually turned off. This happened one other time. I was driving on a residental street and the vehicle stopped again. My husband whom was driving the car said the car just stopped in the middle of the intersection. He tried pressing the traction control button because the check engine light and the traction control light came on and the brakes were forced again and nothing. Imagine going 25mph and stopping abruptly without brake lights for other cars to see. This time I did research and I saw that other 2014 chevy Traverses were recalled for the chassis module (recall number 14v614000). I saw youtube videos and I checked several consumer the complaint websites and I literally saw over 10 other complaints about the same issue this month! I also put a reader in my vehicle and the two codes that come up is p16aa & p1682. One is for the electronic module system in which the chassis (pertaining to the recall) is listed under). I called the dealer and they said that the recall was active for 2014 chevy Traverses. . . . . But not mine! I am completely disgusted. These vehicles will kill you - literally and they know it, and they refuse to do anything about it! now I'm paying a car note and I can't even drive it - for the safety of my family, others, and myself. Shame on them - again this is happening to other people! this is a urgent request for help!.
I was driving on the highway when the car started losing power! as I hit the gas petal it would putt putt as if it wasn't getting any gas. I lost complete power at red light, had to turn the switch all the way down then back up then the car slowly winded up as if it didn't want to start so I had to give it a little gas then it cranked up on the dash board you can see the rpm going up and down as if it wanting to shut off!.
My car keeps dying for no reason. It has a reading of low engine lower and traction control system needing service. They car just shuts off in the middle of the road. My vehicle went from 70 to 30 mph on the highway.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse. While driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled and the engine power reduced and check stabilitrac messages appeared on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuse box needed to be changed. The contact mentioned that the failure occurred for over a year and a half. The vehicle was taken to marine Chevrolet (1408 western blvd, jacksonville, nc 28546) to be diagnosed, but no failure was found. The vehicle was repaired by the independent mechanic. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 9-528137165. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000.
C0242,p1682. While driving the stability control turns off reduced engine power and the vehicle turns off leaving you no way to stream the vehicle . This happens at all speeds and in park. This happens everyone the vehicle is driven.
2014 chevy Traverse LS, 66k miles, purchased used in may 2018. At random, traction control turns off, reduced engine power and sometimes shuts off. Has happened 5 times in the last 3 weeks while driving in traffic, stopped at a red light, and once while car was parked in my driveway! turn car off for about 5 mins, and it runs normally, but check engine light stays on, until the next day then all is normal again. Then the cycle repeats--over and over! after some research, found a recall for this issue (gm #14515), but it did not cover all 2014 Traverses, not to mention this issue affects several gm makes and models and has been a problem since at least 2007!! this problem is well documented by hundreds of consumers who are experiencing the same thing. I find it extremely hard to believe that gm has not been made to make this right via full fledged recall--not just certain vehicles. This is dangerous!! my family and I could have been in a few serious accidents because of this "flaw" that gm is well aware of since they issued a recall to fix it (but not for all affected vehicles). Called gm customer service, and although the person was nice, he said nothing helpful at all (take it to a dealer and pay a $120 diagnostic fee for what? gm knows exactly what's wrong), and advised my car was not a part of the recall. Why not?!?!?!? it most certainly has the issue for which the recall was done!!! the electronic control module needs to be replaced ASAP before someone gets hurt or killed because my car decided to randomly reduce power and/or shut down. Unless that's what gm is waiting for before they do the right thing. And to think my father spent 36 years working for this company. . .
While driving the car, it happens to loose power and it is very difficult to wheel and move the car . It stops in the middle of the freeway and service traction control comes up , then service stabilitytrak and then traction control off . It has to be turned off and then wait and restart it again , with a check engine.
While driving, car slows to 25mph and dash flashes between the following warnings: service stabilitrak, traction control off, service traction control, power engine reduced. The check engine light and traction control light also turn on at this time . This has happened 5 times so far. I have been driving on the highway and on side streets when this happens. This is very dangerous and could cause an accident easily.
Multiple times the car has just lost power. The dash goes crazy with lights and warnings. Chevy tells me there is nothing they can do because there isn't a code and they can't replicate the problem. Twice I have been driving and this has happened and once when I pulled into a parking spot. Now it does shift really. It revs the rpms, jerks, sputters, and puts while trying to turn or accelerate. Its so scary because its the only vehicle we have to fit us and our newborn. I hate chevy refuses to acknowledge an issue.
The car will short out dash and smells like burning and will return to normal. Took to dealer and supposedly my VIN not included in recall. It happens with car in motion.
