The vehicle stalls while driving at any speed. It has left me on the highway or the middle of an intersection with myself & my kids in danger. The check engine light comes on before the vehicle shuts off completely & loses power & steering. The traction control & stability warning also come on. The vehicle has rolled backwards while in park numerous times so I have to use the parking brake on a regular basis as a safety precaution. The power steering is also an issue. The driver seat belt & air bags make this car a rolling death trap. There are past recalls or safety concerns for the Traverse that are the exact same issue that I’m having but they are not specific to my VIN number so the dealership refuses to address them! is 7 recalls & they all apply to this vehicle! I’ve attempted to have the vehicle repaired multiple times & they have failed & the same problem returns. I just want my vehicle to be safe & not put myself or my family in danger of being injured or killed.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated. While turning the steering wheel, there was an abnormal sound of moving change. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v334000 (air bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 113,727. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Airbags light turns off & on. Then my vehicle will reset itself while driving. All gauges & lights turn off in vehicle & I have to pull over, turn the car on & off for it to work. Vehicle airbag will also make a popping sound when airbag light turns on & off. Vehicle turns off while driving & fuel light will say full then drop to empty. Power steering will go out & turn back on randomly.
When driving the vehicle will have a sudden lose of engine power with no warning signs. It will say “engine power reduced” then say “service stabilitrac”, and “traction control off”. This morning when it happened I was turning into a parking lot to drop my kids off and almost hit a sign because the engine completely stalled mid turn. I have also had it happen to me on major highways.
I know there are recalls on other chevy Traverse for air bags. My air bag light goes off every so often, I’m just waiting for the day for it to go off in my face while driving. My power steering pressure pump has been leaking, no longer have power steering, makes driving very difficult/unsafe. I’ve heard of many other Traverse vehicles with the same problem, but why is it not being addressed?.
Was a recall on some power steering pumps and faulty electrical systems in the 2014 chevy Traverse. Car making loud noise when turn wheel. Problem just diagnosed by mechanic. See my VIN not included in recall. Very dangerous. Found because turning the wheel has become difficult and it sounds like engine strained.
My 2014 chevy Traverse has been having this issue for months now. I will be driving and my service stabilitrak, traction control off, check engine light will light up, and engine power reduced will pop up. I can not go over 20 mph. At times the engine will become very stally, jerky, my steering wheel and brakes will be very hard to use. These are very random and non patterned I will have to safely pull over rather it be on a back road or a highway wherever it happens turn the engine off for 5-20 minutes and it will eventually clear everything but the check engine light; which will clear within that day or the next until the next time it happens. It has also cause my key to lock up in the ignition. This is very unsafe and scary. This is my family car and will eventually cause an accident and hurt myself, my kids, or someone else. If you google the issue there are tons of forums, websites, blogs that have the same issue with this car. I have spent numerous hours investigating the issue, lots of money replacing parts as recommended or by the check engine light and it continues to do this. Gm is going to have a lawsuit on their hands when someone gets seriously hurt over this issue because they are not doing anything about it.
While driving at 45mph the vehicle completely shut off, the gauge cluster went crazy stating "stabilytrack" "reduced engine power" check engine came on and notices temp. Guage also went up from 210 to 215 slighty when I put in park and restarted vehicle restarted with no problem I drove to mechanic shop with no issue 4 miles away and when I arrived to shop I turned vehicle off and when mechanic returned to check engine error none was found or recorded this is the secon time it happens?.
Power steering problems from earlier models are still present. Power steering leak appeared without any obvious cause.
On more that one occasion but most recently on 03/16/2018 I have driving my vehicle and I get the first message of, "service stabilitract". The next message is, "traction control off". It is then following by, "engine power is reduced" and my check engine light comes on. The vehicle then decelerates to 10-20 mph. This has occurred to me twice while on the highway travelling in excess of 60 mph. (not while accelerating). This has occurred while accelerating from 0 mph, 30+ mph, 60+ pmh and decelerating from 60+mph, 30+mph and from 0 to 30 mph. It has occurred while turning a corner, driving in a straight line. The dealership said to bring the vehicle in after an incident without turning off the vehicle. I have not been able to drive the vehicle without ever having to stop and turn off the vehicle. The power steering is almost non-existent after reduced engine power occurs. It feels like it is running on three of the six cylinders and has almost caused me to have an accident. I almost hit a school bus once. The vehicle is at the dealership again for it's second week of diagnostics.
Power steering is going - ok on highway - issues turning/parking/backing due to power steering - this vehicle no longer has a good turn radius and becomes difficult to maneuver - at approx 40,000 mi.
Engine power reduced, service stabiltrak, traction control off messages appear after driving car over 30 min. Engine light comes on and stays on along with stabilik track light. No codes being rpeorted when taken to dealer 2x. Happened 5x in a 20 minute drive, doing 55-60mph and drops to 20 mph with hardly any steering ability. Battery gauge drops below average, car idols like it is going to stall. Pull over, turn key off, rest starts up again with engine light still on. Very dangerous situation. Cleaned throttle from any build up (hardly any) checked fuses, however did not check wiring to fuse box (may be the issue) problem has been going on since June 2017. Dealer depending to much on diagnostic code reader, which it is not recording. Only one was p1682 and they said it was fine.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse. While driving approximately 35 mph, the steering wheel seized without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
Car lost power on highway due to service stabilizer message. Then the dealership informed me that my power steering was leaking and needs a 2400 repair which I see is covered by service bulletin sb-10052379-9767 but they say my VIN number isn't covered.
I was driving the chevy Traverse on a 1 way street at about 35 mph. . When suddenly without warning the car lerched to the left. . Driver had 0 control over the steering of the vehicle. . . The car drove us head on into an oak tree. . The only reason we were not killed is that the airbags deployed or I would not be typing this now. . . While researching this I found many other Traverses that were also built in virginia and had the same problem. . I also know gm was class actioned sued for this issue in 2012. . . Need to be sued again. . .
During a long drive thru heavy traffic the tc turned off unable or very hard to steer the wheel, the car turned off engine light came on, fortunately I was passing an exit and was able to safetly pull over. Had to turn off the car for about 10 min so the engine light stays off. First time happened also in a heavy traffic same tc turned off very hard to steer engine light on, I was able to safetly park on side road whited about 10 min until finally the engine light turnered off.
I experienced a life threatening vehicle malfunction with my brand new 2014 chevy Traverse. I was driving down the road and I felt my steering wheel stop working. If I turned to the left or the right it would continue going straight. This happened twice at low speeds on a paved street in my neighborhood. I have the documentation of how I tried to resolve this matter with gm/chevy.
I was driving in slow traffic on the expressway and the car shut off. I was able to restart it. This is a new vehicle, with low mileage.
While accelerating to 40 mph, the vehicle suddenly started vibrating followed by stability control and traction error messages, the check engine light on, a burning smell due to random braking as part of the control and an engine down power. This incident is similar to many others reported over a period of years and is unacceptable from a safety stand point when my entire family is within the vehicle. I will not accept a ridiculous explanation from the dealer. Honestly, I want another vehicle. I knew chevy would be trouble. Damn.
