My 2019 chevy Traverse prior to "the storm" when I left work and approached my vehicle someone left a not in my windshield wipers stating that my horn was honking every 15 seconds it was a long shift so by the time I got to my vehicle my battery was dead. I got a jump from a CO-worker allowed my alternator to charge my battery, and it was fine (so I thought). Then the day after "the storm" happened, my Traverse went haywire displaying multiple signs of electronic failures while driving on a major highway: service esc, abs disabled, traction control disabled, power steering disabled, horn honked continuously, windows won't roll down, key fob unresponsive, manual lock/ unlock switch unresponsive, a/c on but doesn't blow cold, infotainment system on, cluster hazard light indicators on but lights aren't illuminated, windshield wipers on max speed unprompted while spraying continuously. I pulled over, placed the vehicle in "park", turned the vehicle off, safely exited to realize my vehicle was still running, got back into the vehicle where I was greeted by a prompt that said to place the vehicle in park to turn it off. I attempted to shift but it was immovable, called a tow truck. Every time after dealership visits/ repairs my vehicle shutoff while moving. It's been to the dealership 3 times (4 to include tomorrow) I've also connected an obd2 scanner to run a diagnostic after the last visit and these faults appeared almost instantly. Work done so far: x2 bcm replacements (w/ flashed software) x1 battery replacement x1 keyless entry module replacement x1 driver door lock/unlock switch replacement x3-->4 tow trucks over $3,000 in expenses.
I took my vehicle for an oil change to the tracy Chevrolet dealership. I was informed that they detected a leak. I returned my vehicle on 4/28/26 for an inspection. My vehicle on has 59,297 miles. I was just informed that my timing cover located at the front of the engine has a leak and possibly the oil pan. After doing research, this seems to be a common issue.
Exhaust bracket broke, created a hole in pipe, which then resulted in cracked catalytic converter. Dealership and gm denied repairs due to the hole being on the "wrong pipe" but the same bracket that is covered broke resulting in the consequential damage. Check engine light came on, loud exhaust noise. Threw codes p219a, p2097, p0171. Bulletin even outlines that broken bracket/hole can cause cracks in converter, still denied. This is a known issue with the welding on this pipe/bracket, why they didn't extend the coverage to both pipes is beyond me.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that the bracket was making an abnormal rattling noise. There was a hole on the outside of the muffler. The engine light was illuminated. The local dealer was contacted, and the bracket was replaced, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000. The VIN was not available.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving at 15-30 mph and shifting gears, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The vehicle began to shudder at 50-60 mph. The yellow engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined the gear system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined a new gear system was needed. There was no warranty coverage. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 88,000.
I have a 2019 chevy Traverse I bouth it 2020 /9/11 2020 I have had problems scense then I right now havb to buy a transmission GMC had me to take it to a chevy dealer and ask for some coast asistant they would not so they baclk out now I am about to sue.
Broken exhaust pipe, there is a recall number for some 2019 Chevrolet Traverse manufacturer recall number: n212356540 for the same issue, good up to 150,000 miles.
Known issue with the front timing cover leaking. Confirmed by dealer and local repair shop that it is an issue they see on these engines all the time and is a manufacturing problem.
Timing cover / valve covers. . . Had to drop the engine. . . 5k for 100,000 miles. Other 2019 Traverse have had issues for recall but not my VIN. If some VIN numbers have been recalled, then all VIN numbers with the same issue should be covered.
Transmission went out does not move at all with only 49,000 miles on the car the car always had sifting problems. Brought the car brand new off the lot. One owner. Before the transmission went out when I will stop at the red lights or stop signs the car would just take off for no reason. With my foot still on the brakes or the car would just stall when I am driving it right in the middle of traffic. GMC needs to held accountable before some one gets killed. ??????.
Broken catalytic converter at joint with exhaust pipe. Manufacturer defect with the exhaust piping.
The exhaust bracket broke 3 times had it repaired at my own expense each time. My muffler broke off at the weld. My exhaust cracked. Then my catalytic converter broke off.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph on the highway, the contact heard a rattling sound coming from the exhaust system. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the front exhaust pipe needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure via email and letter. The approximate failure mileage was 116,719.
Exhaust pipe leak and break that caused a crack in the catalytic converter.
When accelerating car shuddered between 15- 30mph and then sometimes between 40 and 55mph. Also, issues with vehicle alert "shift to park" when vehicle is in park.
The power train on 2019 chevy Traverses are horrible! there was a recall back in 2023 that caused me to get a replacement transmission. It hasn’t even been a full 2 years and the transmission is out again! even with recent safety issues for the emissions purge valve and transmission defects on these cars, no one has initiated another recall for the power train system. This is frustrating, inconveniencing, and infuriating. I hope gm makes this right!.
Gm has a TSB # n212356540 for one exhaust pipe. Bracket broken a causes hole in pipe. Weld was bad. Mine was bad on both pipes and only one covered by gm, this led to catalytic converter cracking and flex pipe leaking. I had to pay to have repaired. This second pipe and catalytic converter were not covered.
Oil consumption issues.
The transmission keeps stalling when the auto engine turn off comes on and I try to hit the gas. The transmission end cap had to be replaced. Then the shift to break kept going off when I was in park.
Own a 2019 chevy Traverse that was bought brand new and properly maintained with regular, synthetic only, oil changes. Engine failed due to “failed rod bearing” at only 55k miles, 3 months outside of chevy’s regular warranty. While replacing the engine, it was found that the catalytic converter also needed replacing.
When driving I feel shudder at lower speeds, medium speeds and sometimes faster speeds. Makes feel car motor or transmission can leave me in middle of highway or street compromising my safety. Vehicle can be inspected at any time. The dealer indicated fix was transmission oil change with additives, which I did, which cost 700. 00 and the problems is still there. The vehicle has not been inspected by insurance but the dealer has as stated above. I bought vehicle with 46k miles and after about 1. 5k it stated happening. Vehicle now has 50k miles. No codes have displayed.
Check engine light keeps coming on for a small evap leak. When putting car in park and turning car off, warning message comes up saying shift to park so I have to wiggle the shifter until the message goes away. Tailgate some times does not close when pushing the tailgate button. Remote start does not always work.
Rtv gasket on engine get worn out at 60,000miles and causes small oil leak and gets worst over time.
My car stalled on a four lane highway due to the alternator dying. I was able to pull over but was almost rear ended. I only had 40,000 miles on car at the time. I replaced the alternator with a factory direct from chevy on 3/16/2022. On may 5, 2024, my car again stalled out due to alternator. At that time I was on another busy highway but had enough time to pull over. I had to have someone pick up my children and follow me home. I was terrified it would stall again and I would cause an accident.
When car is shifted into park and then push to start/stop is pressed to turn off car “ shift to park” appears and shift must be wiggled for message to go away. Problem has just started in the last month (may 2024).
Traverse check engine light came on and vehicle sounded louder than usual w/ additional rattle. Upon inspection passenger side bracket holding two exhaust pipes together was broken at the weld. Took to superior Chevrolet (dealer) 4/5/24 who stated right side pipe and bracket were not covered under special coverage adjustment front exhaust pipe n212356540 and only left side is covered despite the bracket being attached to both pipes. Awaiting part to complete repair at dealership. Advised by dealership vehicle is okay to drive until parts arrive and repair can be completed. 4/14/24 driving on i40 heard large bang from underneath vehicle, looked in rearview mirror to see the remaining portion of the bracket fly out from under vehicle and almost hit the car's windshield behind me, they had to swerve in heavy traffic to avoid having it go through their windshield. Vehicle immediately sounds like a motorcycle with no baffles, loud in the cabin and smelling of exhaust. Once stopped, climbed under vehicle to see that the complete bracket was missing from both pipes and a gaping hole in the drivers side front exhaust pipe. Bracket could have killed someone or caused a major accident while airborne on the highway and cabin smells of exhaust.
Transmission oil leak.
I keep getting a shift to park, even though I am in park. I’m not able to turn off my car. I have read this a big issue with 2019 Traverse, why is there no recall showing as it can mess up the transmission?.
See attached document for complaint.
I have been experiencing an intermittent issue where the vehicle displays a “shift to park” message, even though the gear shift lever is clearly in the park position. When this happens, the vehicle will not fully shut off, and I have to repeatedly move the shifter back and forth or restart the vehicle to clear the message. This issue began around January 2024, and it has become more frequent over time. I understand that this is a known defect in gm vehicles, and that gm issued technical service bulletin #19-na-206 to address it. According to the TSB and owner reports, this problem is caused by a faulty park switch or microswitch inside the shifter assembly, and the solution involves installing a jumper harness and/or replacing the shift control assembly. This is both a functional and safety concern, as the vehicle may not recognize it's in park and could potentially result in a failure to turn off or secure properly. I’m requesting that general motors or an authorized dealer perform the recommended repair per TSB #19-na-206 at no cost, as this is a widely reported manufacturing defect. Please advise how this issue can be resolved as soon as possible. I am attempting at uploading a photo and a video. The system does not allow videos and it is rejecting the photo.
Car won’t turn off. Frequent shift to park messages when already in park. This appears to be common known problem and should be recalled immediately.
I have a 2019 chevy Traverse with 57,000 miles on it currently. First incident of loud noise coming from catalytic converter area began in fall of 2022. In January 2023 I took it to the dealer and they found 2 cracks where the catalytic converter was cracked on each side of the pipes. I think they replaced the exhaust system at that time. Now, not even 1 year later, in 10/2023 I am hearing that same loud, embarrassing noise from my exhaust. I took it to the dealer today and there is a crack in my catalytic converter and the bracket broken off exhaust pipe that attaches to the muffler. I should not have to pay for this! in the Traverse forum online this is a problem many people are having!.
After shifting vehicle from drive (d) or reverse (r) into park (p) and attempting to turn the vehicle engine off (keyless ignition) an alert pops up stating "shift to park". The engine will shuts down but the ignition remains in auxiliary mode preventing you from completely powering the vehicle down.
Recall for emissions evap leak repaired less than a year ago after engine light illuminated. Had to be taken in two separate times to be fixed. Engine light illuminated again a week ago 10/1/23, when scanned by mechanic it is showing the same emissions evap leak. The vehicle is sputtering when trying to start and doesn’t feel safe when driving. Dealership said they’re unable to even look and diagnose for another week after knowing it’s the same recall.
I purchased the Traverse in March 2023 and truly enjoyed it. But in the last week it has been giving problems to put it into park and turn off engine, it keeps saying to "shift to park" and I have to restart and change gears to redo the parking it may be the gear box not operating correctly, and it will continue to do the "shift to park" message until I have to keep redoing the parking and eventually it will stop. I am so worried it will come out of park and roll down the driveway to street, as I have a slanted driveway and no option to park in street. Could you please advise me if there is a recall to repair this. My daughter said she saw a notice of it on her phone but I couldn't find it. I am 75 yrs old on limited income and dont want to have any accidents or cause one. Thank you.
