My vehicle is at 30,738 miles and recently I began smelling what I thought to be exhaust fumes inside the cabin of the vehicle. I also smelled it after the car was parked outside the vehicle, near the the hood of the car near the engine. I took it to the nearest repair shop and they said that the brazing/welding point on the fuel rail was faulty and the fuel injector had broken off and was spraying fuel all underneath the car. It was "two or three turns away from a catastrophic event". The car was had fuel sprayed all near the intake manifold and was getting dangerously close to the exhaust manifold. It was only a matter of time (minutes/hours) before the vehicle caught fire or exploded with the amount of loose fuel present and I have small children in car seats I would never have been able to get out of the car in time. I had the vehicle towed to a chevy dealership and they replaced the fuel rail and several other parts. And returned the vehicle to me. There were still fuel vapors coming into the cabin of the vehicle and near the hood of the engine. I took it back and the dealership said all of the insulation around/ in the engine was saturated in fuel still. So they washed the insulation and put it back in the vehicle. It still smells like fuel vapors in and around the vehicle.
