36 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2025

A week after purchase with less than 300 miles and 5 days the abs, trac control, esc, lights came on. . The same TSB known to the 2024 chev Traverse are happening to my car, the same parts suggested in that TSB are what I am being told is being replaced in mine. . . The TSB I found includes 2025 Buick enclave and 2024 Traverse. Seems the 2025 is probably having the same issue. The brakes did not fail but the lights remained on, the sealer advised the car was unsafe to operate until the parts were replaced. I am in a loaner car under factory warranty of course but I think the TSB should be expanded to include 2025 Traverse as well.

37 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2025

On September 30 I was on my way to work as I was merging to join a busy highway my breaks failed to work. I had to press them really hard but it took for ever to yield. I made hand signals to the cars I was about to strike and they were able to break before I hit them as I was merging. When this happened 3 service lights appeared. Service esc system, break assist failure. Press hard to break. Speed limited. Key missing, check for key. I had an appointment for a cracked windshield on Friday the 3rd and richland Chevrolet in roswell. I took my Traverse in on Wednesday afternoon and never heard back from them. On Monday October 6 I called and they advised me that my car needed a master cylinder and it was on back order. They said they could not give me an eta because they have no idea when it will be available. They do not have a loaner because I did not purchase the vehicle their so I called the dealership where I bought it and they cant help me either.

38 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2025

Initially, the engine would intermittently fail to start and at times would not start at all. I took the vehicle to a certified Chevrolet service center, where the battery was tested and found to be functioning properly. They later concluded that a faulty front-view camera was disrupting the electrical system and ordered a replacement (my first visit was Friday, 9/26/25). I took the car home for the weekend due to family obligations. On Monday, 9/29, while driving back to the service center, the engine suddenly shut off on a local road. The brakes went completely to the floor for 3–5 seconds before the engine restarted—just before I nearly collided with another vehicle at a red light. I reported this immediately, and the dealership kept the car for further testing. On Thursday, 10/2, they informed me they found no additional issues and believed the camera was the root cause. However, the problem persisted. On Sunday, 10/5, while stopped at a red light at hawthorn st. And memorial dr. , the engine shut off again as I began to accelerate. The brakes sank to the floor, and I had no steering control for approximately 5–7 seconds before the vehicle restarted. My wife and I were extremely shaken, especially with our children in the car. On Monday, 10/6, we contacted roadside assistance to tow the vehicle back to the service center. After additional testing, we were informed that the battery had failed this time and was replaced. However, replacing the battery does not reassure us that the engine and braking system will not fail again while driving, or the brake failure would happen again when the battery is low - which poses a serious safety risk to our family. When my wife called gm to report this issue, all they offered was 200 points worth of rewards. . . . We originally bought this car for safety, but not this has been compromised and we no longer feel safe. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I am happy to provide any additional information if needed.

39 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/28/2025

Service esc & brake assist lights came on after only 4 months with the vehicle. The vehicle also abruptly slammed on the automatic brakes when backing into a parking spot with no obstacle present prior to the service lights indicating any issues. The vehicle was diagnosed with a failed brake master cylinder nearly two weeks ago, but the part is still on national backorder and will be stuck at the dealership for an undetermined amount of time with no loaners available. There are plenty other accounts of this same issue happening to other newly-bought '25 Traverses, and the n242482170 bulletin related to the '24 model hints at this being a recurring issue. This safety issue on a brand new vehicle without recognition/resolve is unacceptable.

40 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2025

Was traveling down the road at about 45 mph and the dash started to show a brake assist failure error and alarm. The brakes would not work and nearly went through the intersection during a red light.

41 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2025

My wife was driving and she got warning lights for "brake assist failure" "speed limited" and "service esc". Brake pedal went all the way to floor and she came to a rolling stop. She couldve been in a accident if there were vehicles in front of her and it was also near a school bus stop. We recieved the vehicle from the shop a week ago today for other issues. (onstar). Was also in shop at dealership prior to that for coolant leak, a/c failure and a loud humming noise. Also door latch to rear hatch.

42 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2025

Directly afterwards, a cluster of warning lights appeared including brake, abs, collision avoidance/forward collision, and stabile track stability control) brake pedal is now inconsistent and soft. Every time the brakes are activated, the thud or clunk occurs. When I start the vehicle, I get warning messages of service brake assist, service esc on the dash that I must acknowledge. Called hendricks chevy columbia SC on 9/18/25. Told to bring into dealership on 9/19/25. Dealership attempted diagnosis but could not. They bled brakes and reset all warning lights. 46 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2025

- brake assist system failure -electronic stability control alert - brake pedal goes to the floor and car doesn't stop -potential master cylinder malfunction due to faulty part. (see photo below). Safety of self and others put at risk as car became uncontrollable due to complete loss of braking power while driving. Dealership has not notified yet due to long waiting of other vehicles undergoing maintenance (in my case 2 days at time of this report) part hasn’t been inspected yet. Issue seems in line with similar incident referring to other 2025 and 2024 Traverse molels. Warning signs and alerts appeared only at time of incident (see photo below).

47 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2025

The dashboard lights for the braking, abs, electronic control system, and forward collision detection systems have remained illuminated. The vehicle cannot be driven due to the potential of brake failure.

48 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2025

Several alerts came on, including abs light, service esc, service brake assist, adaptive cruise control unavailable. Blind spot alert stopped working. Dealership reset everything but the issue came back within a few hours. They said it may have something to do with the brake system.

49 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2025

The first component to fail was the brake booster module which controls the abs, forward collision, adaptive braking, adaptive cruise, traction control system, etc. The malfunction started when the forward collision assist activated to prevent me from hitting a deer in the road. We avoided hitting the deer but all of those lights came on immediately. We contact friendship Chevrolet the dealer we bought the car from had us bring it in to be checked. They confirmed the defective module and said that it was a reported issue that gm had it's engineers looking at. They said they would have to wait for the part to arrive, advised that we could continue to drive the car even though there was a major malfunction with the critical braking systems. Did not offer any type of loaner to ensure my family's safety. We had to wait for more than 30 days for them to receive the part and complete the repair still driving this unsafe vehicle because we had no other choice considering how high the msrp & payment is on the vehicle. Once the repair was finally completed we immediately began to notice that the brakes were consistently screeching when in slow moving traffic like car rider pick up line. I reported the issue to the dealership and they gave me the answer that it was due to a more abrasive brake pad being used due to it being a passenger vehicle and it's weight. We continued to deal with the squeaking for months then we noticed a coolant leak. Dealership again said had to wait for part. After they did not contact me back I contacted gm and opened a case. When they got it in I also had them change the brakes out of my own pocket. Now the brakes squeak anytime pressure is applied and when coming to a complete stop they grind so loud you can hear and feel them digging in. Gm still says nothing is wrong and brakes are a maintenance charge and are not covered for any reason. I feel the vehicle is still extremely unsafe and my family is at risk of possible crash.

53 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2025

The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph through a green light, another vehicle failed to yield at 50 mph for a red light due to being impaired, causing a collision in which the contact’s vehicle was t-boned. No warning lights were illuminated before the crash. The front and side curtain air bags failed to deploy. Put transmission in park, then reverse to get out the main highway and back to the service road, car would continue to roll. Service esc, service brake assist, engine light and more popped up on dash. Vehicle had to get towed. This could have been a very dangerous situation. Being told the master cylinder needs to be replaced. Part is ordered with no delivery date.

57 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2025

Took my Traverse through a car wash and when putting the vehicle from neutral to drive, a slew of lights turned on (abs, traction control, check engine light). Car will be evaluated this coming week but all signs are pointing to the brake module and master cylinder as seen all over the internet and reddit. This is a serious, common issue with gm vehicles and something needs to be done ASAP about this.

58 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2025

I purchased a 2025 chevy Traverse in April 2025. The car had under 1056 miles on it. I was in another state 325 miles away from home when lights came on in the car. The park brake came on, the abs light came on and a few others. The alert said, service esc, and service brake assist. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? we did research online and there were 33 other complaints from people with similar complaints. They reported that it was a master cylinder part and the dealers don’t have the part in stock. It could take up to two weeks for the part. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? my safety and my husband’s safety were at risk because we had to drive the car home. Our lives were at risk if the brakes failed. We took it to key motors a chevy dealership in s. Burlington, vt. He said they would have to diagnose it themselves and the part could take two weeks or more. We cut our vacation short and could not stay in vt that long. We are elderly and did not have enough medicine, not to mention the cost of hotels. The vt dealer said without the computer, the car defaults to the driver like a 1980’s car. We took our chances and drove it home. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? no, but many people online have complained of the same problem. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? we had it towed to our local dealership, bob johnson Chevrolet. They just sent us a bill for $214 for certified multi point vehicle inspection. I still don’t know what problem. Onstar diagnosed it as abs braking and stability diagnostic code; an issue has been detected in the antilock braking system. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no other warnings or symptoms before messages appeared.

59 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/18/2025

Suddenly with just over 8300 miles on the vehicle, lights for abs, traction control, forward collision and parking brake all came on. The brake pedal started to feel spongy on the way to the dealership. The dealership replaced the master cylinder under warranty.

60 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/18/2025

We have. 2025 chevy Traverse that we bought 10 days ago and it has 597 miles. I stopped at a location turned off the car. When I got back in to leave and turned it on, the brake light came on, and brake light, collision light, service esc and service brakes light. Apparently there are 4 or more gm cars in the dealership service department for over a month waiting for the part to fix this issue. The car is currently in the service department of the dealership we bought it from 10 days ago with no known date of fixing due to the national back order on parts.

61 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2025

On Aug 15th, 2025 I went to pick up my children from school. As I picked up my child and turned the vehicle on to go pick up my second child, the car notified me on the dash board of 4 icons. Brake, abs, traction and collision. Service esc and brake assist service needed. I was very concerned when I went to drive and when I gently eased into the brakes I could hear a small noise, every time I pressed the brakes. My second childs school is about 4 minutes away. I called Chevrolet dealership where I purchased it from in February, explained everything and they said I needed to take it in to a Chevrolet dealership near me. I called the nearest chevy dealership and they said to bring it in the same day or the next day. Saturday Aug 16th, 2025 at 8am I was at the dealership. They checked to see what codes ran up and if it was safe to drive, they pulled 4 codes and told me it wasn't safe and I needed to leave it for 10-14 days minimum. They said they could not provide me a vehicle / loaner. I had already called Chevrolet customer service the day before to receive assistance with a temporary vehicle as the dealership had told me they had no loaner to provide. I explained to Chevrolet customer service that I am a disabled & handicap veteran with children. I do not have a secondary vehicle and it is a necessity as I drop off and pick up my children and attend medical appointments. The employee was able to open a case for me and send it to the regional person around my area. No one has called me. Today Saturday, I dropped off my vehicle and picked up a rental according to the guidelines provided by the Chevrolet employee for reimbursement a gm vehicle under $44 a day. This is a huge inconvenience , unacceptable from a new 2025 vehicle. Ot has put me in a hardship position financially. The hassle, my Traverse has handicap plates and my rental does not. Very upset and frustrated. I need as much support and help from gm / Chevrolet to resolve this safety issue for my children.

On 8/11/2025 the brakes failed and the brake petal went all the way down. The check engine light came on as well as the abs, traction control, front collision lights. The service esc and service brake assist came on as well. It’s in the shop and needs a new brake master cylinder.

64 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2025

New vehicle (bought in April 2025), vehicle has about 6400 miles. The abs, forward collision braking system, traction and emergency brake services light all popped up (including alerts stating "service esc" and "service brake assist"). Took to the dealership and was told the master brake cylinder needs replaced. They said the part is on back order and no eta.

65 Service Brakes problem

66 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2025

I was in the car wash and the service esc came on it also had the traction control, abs and check engine light came on. When I restarted my car the check engine light only came on . On the chevy app it says my anti breaking system needs serviced. This is a brand new car bought a couple months ago with under 3,000 miles.

67 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2025

8/4/25 vehicle was pulling from side road to main highway when lights and warnings came on dash cluster. Brakes were very soft and not very responsive, car was slowed down on its own. Was able to pull into a driveway and take photos of some of the messages. One said service traction control, one said service asc, and one said ‘brake assist fail, press hard to brake, speed reduced. After restarting car all was normal. 8/11/25. Sitting in some morning traffic and all the same messages came up and brakes were soft again. Was able to keep some distance between myself and other cars until I could get off the road. Immediately made an appointment for dealership service. After restarting car, all was normal again. Took car to dealership at appointed time and they kept it for a week and only did test drives to try and recreate problem. When they couldn’t they returned the vehicle to me with nothing done but clearing codes and checking for updates. This is unacceptable. I am hauling my precious grandchildren in a brand new vehicle that could have a braking failure at any time. Obviously braking failures can cost lives. There is a gm service bulletin for this exact problem in December 2024 (n242482170) requesting the master cylinder should be replaced. This service bulletin doesn’t extend to the 2025 Traverse model and it should as the problems are exactly the same. I hope this can be resolved. I’m very uneasy driving now and just keep wondering when this will happen again and how bad it could be.

68 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2025

When my new vehicle hit 4k miles, the dash started to show alerts for "service esc" and "service break assist". As well as those alerts, there were additional notification lights for "brake", "abs", "electronic stability control (esc)/traction control", and "forward collision alert (fca)". After some research, I was worried to drive my car incase the breaks would not work properly. So I discontinued to used my car with my 2 young children. The chevy dealership has confirmed it's the back master cylinder that needs to be replaced. From my research, this is a common issue happening and a roll over issue from the 2024 models.

69 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2025

We were told we had a faulty master cylinder that needed to be replaced. The abs, forward collision braking system, rear collision breaking system, and emergency brake were all at risk, which puts a significant risk to the passengers in the vehicle, including children. The problem was confirmed by the dealership with no information about timing of replacement since there is a national shortage of this part. Warning messages included abs, brake, forward collision, rear collision- lights came on several times. They appeared suddenly after turning on the car without incident. We tried turning off the car and letting it sit for long periods of time without resolution. The dealership initially flushed the brake line without resolution.

70 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2025

While driving the automatic brake assist failure light came on. I was unable to stop at a very busy intersection and was forced into traffic even though I had a red light. The parking brake, engine light, and light came on.
