Failure Date: 05/22/2019

Traction control/stabilink system does not work properly. Vehicle will lose power while accelerating. There is a grinding noise which slowes the vehicle down. This happens each time the vehicle is driven. This is very dangerous when pulling out into traffic or onto highways where others are traveling at fast rate of speed. I see many complaints on the web when researching 2010 chevy Traverse for problems. The VIN number of my vehicle is not included in recall but symptoms are the same as vehicles that were recalled.

My mechanic has checked everything and cant find anything wrong. The stuff that I describe before is the latest things to occur. . I have complained for a long time now about the illegal tracking of this vehicle and all of my vehicles. I have made complaints to the department of justice, the media and to the internal affairs here where I live in gwinnett county georgia. This illegal tracking is being done for the purpose of gang stalking. . . . . The tracking information on this vehicle and all my other vehicles has been shared with a large number of people.

41 Suspension problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 10/30/2018

Over two dozen areas on the powder coated sub frame and suspension components have rusty weld beads with flaking paint. I took the vehicle in for inspection and filed a claim with Chevrolet. Chevrolet said the rust is "operating as designed" and no repair would be completed. The areas are increasing to rust and I believe this may lead to a catastrophic failure of the frame and steering components.

42 Suspension problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 10/23/2018

Drivers side 2nd row seat belt does not always stay latched. At 100,000 mi power steering pump went, month later lost control of steering, which turned out to be the rack. 15 months later the seals in the rack have blown out again. This is an expensive safety issue! the dealer did not see an issue as he listed 3 other makes that have the same problem. At $1400 per repair this should be a recall to keep my family safe! also informed one front strut has no oil and the other is leaking. My Chevrolet Traverse is a money pit. It is an automatic transmission that on an incline will continue to coast backwards until you either break or give it gas, this is from date of purchase.

43 Suspension problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 09/22/2018

My wife has a 2014 chevy Traverse with 60,000. The traction control and stabilitrack warnings came on the dashboard. This happened 3 times in four weeks. Once the power was reduced and the car would not accelerate. We were on a city street with light traffic and once the car stopped completely. Thank god she was in a parking lot when it happened. I have taken it to the dealer each time we get the messages. The said that they could not find anything wrong and come back if it happens again. The changed a fuse on the last visit. It has happened again and it is in the shop right now.

I have 3 different people that can vouch for this. The dealer ship nor gm will give me an answer. The asst ser mgt said if the mechanic failed to say something he apologized . Failure Date: 06/16/2017

The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse. While making a left turn, the contact heard a crunching noise coming from the front tires of the vehicle. The vehicle stalled without warning. The contact placed the gear shifter into neutral to coast to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the failure could be the transmission. The mechanic suggested taking the vehicle to a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the vehicle was taken to american Chevrolet (located at 4742 mchenry, modesto, CA 95356) where it was diagnosed that the passenger side front axle completely detached and the rear differential also was detached and needed to be replaced. The technician also stated that the transmission was faulty, but could not determine without diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired due to the diagnostic and repair fees. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that the vehicle was out of warranty in April of 2017. The best the manufacturer could do was to offered 40% off the repair fees. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

51 Suspension problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 03/23/2017

I was informed that my steering system is failing in multiple parts. This was no surprise to the mechanic who told me this is a common occurrence in these vehicles. Not only is this a costly repair but it can also become a hazardous condition due to loss of power steering.

52 Suspension problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 02/26/2017

There was a recall on the airbag on my vehicle a while back. I took my car to the dealer to have it serviced. They fixed it supposedly but periodically when I start the the car the airbag light would take a while to go out, like a delay. Reported to dealer now airbag light is on continuously and dealer says it's no longer under warranty or recall. Now I have a problem with the stabilitrak system light comes on and the car sometimes slow down or shuts off. I've taken it to the dealer about the problem but they can't ever seem to find it during a diagnostic my car shut off on me while I was on the interstate driving 70 miles an hour in the left lane good thing I was an experienced driver me and my family could have gotten killed. I researched the internet and found that this has happened to many of these Traverse and there has been no recall are we waiting for someone to die before we look into this. I got no warning the light came on and the car shut off an it coast it didn't lock up which was a good thing. I turned the ignition switch off had to wait about 15 minutes turned it back on and it was fine. I took it to the dealer nothing, month later same thing. . First time it happened was in February 2017 or 2018.

53 Suspension problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 10/08/2016

I purchased a used 2012 chevy Traverse with only 34,000 miles on it. After owning the car for a month I noticed a strange noise when making sharp right hand turns at low speed (less than 20 mph). Upon examining the car I found power steering fluid leaking from the steering gear. I took the car into the Chevrolet dealership and was told that the steering gear and front struts needed to be replaced.

54 Suspension problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 02/08/2016

While driving our vehicle some sensors starting to go off and we started losing power to the vehicle which in turn caused a huge and very dangerous situation. The Traverse we were driving showed a traction control, service stabilitrak signal. It began to lose power and slow down. If we were in the middle of the highway we would have wrecked, luckily we were not. I have noticed that this has been an issue on many other Traverse's as well as many other vehicles within the Chevrolet lineup, yet there is still no recall. I am not sure what needs to be done or if someone really needs to hurt before a recall is made, but someone need to make the right call before anyone gets hurt with this issue. I have contacted Chevrolet and they said it is a know issue but there is no recall for it, what needs to be done to make this recall happen, does someone need to seriously get hurt? it also appears that there are no fixes for this issue and it is just costing owners, more and more money to get repairs they don't really need. Where do I go from here?.

55 Suspension problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 02/06/2016

We have many issues with our family car 2011 Traverse one being our power steering whining noise and it get really loud that we are having our 2nd issue in less then 4 months. We are just finding out they put a remanufactured part and master cylinder leaking into booster. . I drive with extreme care daily. .

56 Suspension problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 12/15/2015

The air conditioner still faulty. Replaced hoses and freon. The struts still leaking fluid around tire area since purchased. I see many complaints online at different forums about this. My engine light comes on intermittently anf when I have it tested it just says O2 sensors. The light will stay on for 1-2 days and then go out and remain off for several months at a time. Everything in the car is plastic and keeps popping off. I have replaced so many door and seat pieces that this is crazy even down to replacing motor mounts. I love Chevrolet but this by far has been my most aggravating and costly purchase. . . . I used to go to my local chevy dealer for service but I noticed when I log in to my chevy/gm profile they don't load anything innthe system for chevy to see you are really maintaining your car. These dealers are ripping people off.

57 Suspension problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 10/06/2015

The vehicle has been experiencing steering issues for a couple years - loud mechanical noises and popping. I have topped of steering fluid reservoir several times and that quieted the noise, but there was no evidence of a leak on my garage floor until October 2015 (after service explained below). The popping became a nuisance again and I took into the local Chevrolet dealer to inspect. They found several issues in the front end that need replaced: rack and pinion (leaking), power steering pump, end links, bushings, transmission mount, struts (leaking). Steering component failure is a possibility in these issues and can cause loss of power steering in the vehicle. Loss of power steering would likely end up in an accident due to inability to turn vehicle as intended. Gm should issue a special coverage for rack and pinion replacement and strut leaks as these are very well know safety/design flaws. Gm has already issued special coverage for the power steering pump.

60 Suspension problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 07/15/2014

July 2014 my Traverse had around 67,000 miles on it, and it had started overheating. We took it to a Chevrolet dealership and had the issue taken care of. We had also asked them to address the recalls that we had received notice on. One issue was fixed, and on the invoice they had made note that they would contact us when the other recall parts were in. For 2 months, no phone call from them. We had received no call that the parts were in. Then the end of September while driving back from the coast, I heard a noise that sounded like a cap being clicked by a teen. Blamed my niece, but after reading the legal documents on the lawsuit, it had to have been the same thing. The next issue that would be what I consider the last straw with this vehicle. In the next day or so, it became hard to turn at low speeds. We checked steering fluid, and it was low but no where near empty. We added additional fluid and thought that was the fix. The steering issue continued to worsen. Driving into work I needed to turn off the main hwy onto a st. , during the morning rush hour. I was barely able to make the turn. It took all I could do to turn. Was very scary, and I was thankful that our children were not in the car. When I arrived to work, I was unable to pull into the parking lot of the office. I ended up having to park on the st due to being unable to effectively turn. We took the Traverse to a different Chevrolet dealership to find out that the pump, rack and pinion, strut and cv boot were failing. Found this to be very odd, most often a cv boot wears out on a vehicle with higher miles than the 70,000miles. Cost to repair is at $2500. 00, due to Chevrolet for the neglect. Now we are looking for a different vehicle and they only want to offer 14,000 trade in?a $40,000 vehicle worth near 1/4 of what we have paid for it in only 4 years. It is now worth nothing, but I'm upside down on an loan!.

61 Suspension problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 06/28/2014

The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact was driving 65 mph when the front driver side tire and axle detached from the vehicle. Additionally, the suspension and brakes failed. The contact crashed the vehicle into a median and sustained injuries to the left side of her body. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed from the scene and was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 138,000.

62 Suspension problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 06/20/2014

Our Traverse has a groaning noise coming from the steering column at slow speeds. I had the dealership diagnose the problem. They came back telling me it needed a new steering rack because it will get worse and possibly I will loose my power steering entirely without warning. In doing some research and visiting with repair shops it is evident that this is a recurring issue and needs to be resolved by gm with a safety recall. Gm has since redesigned the defect for newer model cars. I can only hope this gets resolved soon before there is serious injury.

63 Suspension problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 04/17/2014

I purchased my gm vehicle from a dealership in south burlington, vermont, in September 2010. I have driven it for just three and a half years with just 55,000 miles on it, and now after a routine service visit (lube oil and filter, transmission fluid, air filter, and winter tire change) I am now being told that the steering rack and front struts are leaking and will cost $2,262 to repair. Absurd. I was told that it's a safety issue and must be done because my car will now not pass inspection. I have never had to spend that much money on a car repair, much less a car that is relatively new with so few miles on it. In addition, on a side note, my check engine light is now on after the dealership completed the air bag recall on the vehicle. Because my husband and I were so shocked at the steering rack and strut quote, I decided to do some research and have now discovered it's a very common problem in these vehicles, and there is a class action lawsuit out of California. General motors has allegedly been aware of this problem for several years and continues to sell the vehicle. I have four children in my car, and although the service technician told me that my car is safe to drive until I need it inspected in August, after all I have researched, I am afraid my steering will give out on the highway. I truly hope that something will be done to address this apparently widespread safety defect in these cars.

64 Suspension problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 03/05/2014

Around the begining of March my 2009 chevy Traverse developed a winding sound when steering at a stop or low speed. At this time the steering wheel was very difficult to turn. The problem has progress and now the venice has little to no assistb. I saw that gm recently released a recall on several of its models with simmilar steering systems. I feel that the 2009-2012 chevy Traverse lt should also be included. 6.

65 Suspension problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 01/31/2014

While sitting at a stop sign my Traverse was hit on the driver's side by the tire and fender. The side air bag or front airbags didn't deploy. The vehicle that hit my Traverse had airbags that deployed. My wife was 4 months pregnant and didn't have proper protection of the multiple airbags this vehicle has. She injured her knee from banging into the dash board and caused great concern about the health of our unborn child. The sad part is now we receive a letter that our car is part of the recent side impact air bag recall on the Chevrolet Traverse. The reason why it didn't delpoy in the accident is because of wire issues on the airbag system. Unsafe at any speed.

66 Suspension problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 12/25/2013

The power steering pump failed. There has been repeated grinding and steering issues over the ensuing 4,000 miles (6 mo) since the replacement. It seems that many other owners are experiencing this at 40 - 60k miles, past the lifetime of the warranty (3 yr / 36,000 miles).

67 Suspension problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 07/13/2013

When backing and turning out of parking space, a loud crunch noise was heard and a piece of metal was found to have fallen from vehicle. The metal was the swaybar end link bracket and ball stud which had broken off of the strut on the front drivers side. Inspection of the part revealed that two of the three factory welds holding the bracket to the main tube of the strut were faulty. Weld bead was present but not at the proper location to attach the bracket. This was a manufacturing defect in the strut and there is one other complaint of an identical issue.

68 Suspension problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 02/18/2013

Traveling approximately 55mph we were hit on the rear passenger side damage to the rear passenger tire well and rear right side on the body with extensive damage underneath. No airbags deployed at anytime in the vehicle. It was taken to the dealer's collision and repair shop and after several weeks it was returned. Within a week of getting it back the service airbag light came on, we took it back to collision repair center thinking it was an issue with the accident but the collision repair sent it to the dealership saying it was a warranty issue. I've taken this vehicle back 4 times now for the same service airbag light. Dealership service department supervisor keeps telling me it's an issue with there not being a grease needed on the sensors and that they apply to each sensor as it comes up, now on the 4th trip back service department manager claims that isn't correct and it has nothing to do with the issue. Each and every time I've taken this car in I have specifically asked if this is a safety issue and if it means my airbags are not working correctly every time I've been told, "no, your airbags are ok, there is no risk to you or your family. " dropped car of for final research into this issue since light came on again this week and service manager tells me that yes it does mean my airbags are not operating properly and there is a safety issue here.

69 Suspension problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 02/06/2013

In snow of almost any depth, the vehicle will shake violently on acceleration from 35 mph up. The transmission will not accelerate and feels like its bogging down. It will stay like this for sometime hours then it will cease. Fender wells are clear of debris. The problem is it will do this sometimes at will on the roadway where I have been almost rear ended trying to get up to speed, there are multiple complaints on the chevy Traverse forum website. Someone is going to get seriously hurt or die.

70 Suspension problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Traverse
