Warnings Problems of Chevrolet Traverse

My vehicle experienced a brake system failure that rendered it unsafe to drive and required it to be towed to the dealership. I have been informed by the dealer that the issue involves a failure of the left rear brake caliper. The vehicle is currently out of service at the dealership. Because this issue affects the braking system, it is a significant safety concern.

Vehicle experienced uncommanded automatic emergency braking with no warnings or obstacles present. Sudden hard braking caused fear of collision. Children were in vehicle as well as two adults. Vehicle has prior collision repairs. Owner fears highway driving due to risk of recurrence.

My brakes, abs, front collision, esc light are on and dealership continue to try to fix and no luck. I have take 3 times in the last week with no luck. I need this fixed because I bought for safety features and now I have no vehicle to drive to work.

To date, I have brought the vehicle to the service department four times, primarily due to the check engine light and other critical malfunctions. Below is a summary of the incidents: first visit (approx July 2024): the vehicle suddenly lost acceleration while I was in traffic, leaving me stranded in the roadway. This posed a serious safety risk. The vehicle remained in the shop for 28 days. Second visit (September 29, 2024): multiple warning lights illuminated, and several diagnostic codes were detected. Third visit (do not recall the issue): will find work orders if needed most recent visit (December 3, 2025): a coolant leak caused the temperature gauge to spike, resulting in the air conditioning shutting off due to overheating. The next day the check engine light came on. I had no warning prior to the guage spiking. In addition to these major issues, the following concerns remain unresolved: brakes continue to squeal. The dealership advised this is normal and that front brakes wear faster. Reverse sensor activates randomly, causing the brakes to engage abruptly. Also the front crash sensor triggers without any obstruction ahead. The dealership recommended disabling this safety feature. These recurring problems raise serious safety concerns and significantly impact the reliability of the vehicle. The advice to disable safety features is unacceptable and does not address the underlying issues.

The 2025 chevy Traverse was purchased on 10/27/25 - new. On the morning of 10/31/25, several lights came on for service such as the brake, abs, traction control and forward collison. Through a quick google search, saw there are many issues with the master cylinder leading to brake issues. At this time, the car only has 535 miles. Prior to this incident, the car had no evident issues. I contacted my local dealership to set up an appointment to have the issue assessed and fixed. The appointment is scheduled for 11/5/25. I will not be able to drive the car in the mean time, as it poses a safety concern (brake failure) to my family and myself.

Front collision system failed. Abs and traction control are now failing. My breaks gave out yes no the failure happened the day the warning lights came on - 10/26/2025.

While driving our 2025 Chevrolet Traverse with 9450 miles at 45 mph, it suddenly came to a complete stop and would not advance. Eventually after restarting the vehicle it would drive again, but the abs, collision avoidance, traction control, and emergency braking was disabled. We learned that the "master brake cylinder" failed. This requires a repair and the parts are backordered. Furthermore we learned this is a known common issue and there is a service warning for the 2024 Traverse and there is now a class action lawsuit. It apparently is also common on the 2025 Traverse. This is a potentially dangerous situation that apparently is common and should prompt an immediate recall and replacement with a new and redesigned part. There are numerous reports of similar incidents and per the dealer this is a common repair.

A week after purchase with less than 300 miles and 5 days the abs, trac control, esc, lights came on. . The same TSB known to the 2024 chev Traverse are happening to my car, the same parts suggested in that TSB are what I am being told is being replaced in mine. . . The TSB I found includes 2025 Buick enclave and 2024 Traverse. Seems the 2025 is probably having the same issue. The brakes did not fail but the lights remained on, the sealer advised the car was unsafe to operate until the parts were replaced. I am in a loaner car under factory warranty of course but I think the TSB should be expanded to include 2025 Traverse as well.

The dashboard lights for the braking, abs, electronic control system, and forward collision detection systems have remained illuminated. The vehicle cannot be driven due to the potential of brake failure.

Suddenly with just over 8300 miles on the vehicle, lights for abs, traction control, forward collision and parking brake all came on. The brake pedal started to feel spongy on the way to the dealership. The dealership replaced the master cylinder under warranty.

August 6, 2025 I was driving and it started to rain and there was a little rain on the road and my vehicle appeared to be hydroplaning. I had never experienced that before and it scared me to the point that I reduced my speed significantly. I arrived at my destination and was there for about three hours and when I started my 2025 Chevrolet Traverse I had 4 lights come on my dashboard along with a warning chime. The lights were the brake light, abs light, forward collision assist light and traction control light; and a service esc and service brake assist message popped up in separate boxes from the lights themselves. I turned off my Traverse and hoped it was some fluke thing and again the same lights came on and same messages. I drove my vehicle home cautiously and parked it. I called the dealer I purchased it from the following morning and was given a service appointment 11 days out and I stated that was unacceptable since I was not sure the vehicle was safe to drive from everything I was reading online. The service dept stated that they could place it on a machine if I stopped into the dealership and let me know if was safe to drive. My husband drove it to the dealership 25 miles away and wasn't happy with the service department and spoke to a manager and he stated they would look at my vehicle the following day and gave me a loaner. My husband advised the manager that everything I had been reading pointed to an issue with the master brake cylinder and the parts are on backorder and the manager said he hadn't heard of any issues with them. I received a call 4 days later after asking the status of my new car repeatedly and was told that it is the master brake cylinder and a couple of the parts are on backorder and they don't know when they will arrive; could be a week, two or a month. I am extremely concerned about the seriousness of this issue and the lack of parts to repair the vehicle. As I stated, there are multiple incidents on google over this same issue.

We were told we had a faulty master cylinder that needed to be replaced. The abs, forward collision braking system, rear collision breaking system, and emergency brake were all at risk, which puts a significant risk to the passengers in the vehicle, including children. The problem was confirmed by the dealership with no information about timing of replacement since there is a national shortage of this part. Warning messages included abs, brake, forward collision, rear collision- lights came on several times. They appeared suddenly after turning on the car without incident. We tried turning off the car and letting it sit for long periods of time without resolution. The dealership initially flushed the brake line without resolution.

Warning codes - service brake assist, service electronic stability control (esc), forward collision system unavailable. Brake pedal felt different with an associated clunk noise. Brake fluid believed to have been leaking in garage. Dealer diagnosis as master brake cylinder failure. No parts available/no eta available. Car is 5 months old and under 5,000 miles on the odometer.

Began driving warning lights for brakes, abs, traction control, and forward collision on. Brakes then locked up. Pulled over and full lost brake compression. Could have caused an accident if on the highway. Waiting on tow truck to take to the dealership for repair.

Master cylinder failure after less than 3 months of ownership and only 3,891 miles. Multiple warnings lights related to brakes appeared when the car was started. Gm already had a TSB for the 2024 Traverse but has not come out to say 2025 models are impacted yet. Multiple reports of people that do have the issue are waiting weeks for a replacement part because gm is not able to source them. Seems that there is a known issue but gm is just waiting for something to happen due to the lack of parts. Given it's the brakes could result is serious injury due to gms negligence.

Brake master cylinder ecu failed. Illuminated warning lights for brake, front end collision avoidance, abs, and electronic stability control. Took the vehicle to dealership and was told about the part failure. They advised that there was no eta on parts that are on backorder. The codes were removed and the warning lights went off, but came back on the next day. I was told that the vehicle was drivable, but they could not guarantee my safety. The dealership had no loaners so I had no choice but to drive the vehicle home.

Our 2025 Chevrolet Traverse experienced a brake system failure on July 17th. We took the vehicle into the shop with the following errors on the screen: service brake assist service esc forward collision system unavailable my wife and children were in the car when the incident occurred. We have a 20 minute drive, through traffic, to the nearest dealership. At any point, the brakes could have completely failed. The problem is active as the car still remains at the dealership, alan jay Chevrolet of wauchula. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, but by the qualified service staff at the dealership.

I started my Traverse and the brake light, forward collision alert, brake assist, stability control lights came on. The warning messages to service esc, and service brake assist also came on. I have 2182 miles on my vehicle. No warning of anything wrong before this happened. It is available for inspection. It was towed to the closest dealership who determined the master cylinder needed replacing. I did not drive it due to warnings the brake systems were not functioning properly. Could have caused a wreck if they did not work. It has since been towed to the dealership it was purchased at awaiting their diagnosis. The first dealership said the master cylinder is on backorder with no eta.

Car with only 3900 miles brand new after 3 months the braking system, collision system, parking assist, abs and brake lights appeared on dashboard, at the dealer since 07/14/2025, I was suggested not to drive the car. Same day called gm customer service and opened a case, the dealer gives me a rental car to use until the repair is finished. At the end of the same week I called again gm customer service asking about news and the parts was back ordered, they told me to wait 5 business days for a possible repurchase or for any updates for parts. Today 07/31/2025 I called again gm and they said that the parts were shipped but they didn’t had the tracking number, I called my dealer and the parts are in back order without eta.

Master cylinder failure.

As I was driving my 2025 Traverse z71, at 2180 miles, different lights popped up on the dashboard. I was backing out of my garage when it happened. Lights were abs, brake, electronic stability control, and pre-collision warning light. Also notifications for service brake assist and service esc also came on. The dealer had me drive it to their shop 25 miles away. After inspection, the Chevrolet service department said it was unsafe to drive my Traverse. The part they needed to replace was the master cylinder/brake system control module. Unfortunately the part was on backorder and they did not have a loaner I could borrow. I turned in my vehicle Wednesday, June 25, 2025. I got my Traverse back Thursday, July 24, 2025. It was very close to 30 days and I would have followed guidelines for lemon law in state of WI. When I picked up the vehicle, there were several other Traverses waiting on the same part. As of now July, 30th, vehicle is in working order.

Four weeks after purchasing the vehicle the anti-lock brakes light, traction control and forward collision lights all came on. I took it to the dealership and was told this is a known issue with the master cylinder. My car was there for 13 weeks.

Dealer says now partially covered under extended warranty after deductible, but battery needs replacement for $375.

Vehicle leaked a large amount of transmission fluid because it had loose pump bolts per a gm/chevy bulletin. The vehicle has shifting problems and vibration issues. The vehicle has done in multiple instances phantom braking. It has happened while parking and while exiting praking spaces and once on the florida state road 924. Driver was able to maintain control of the wheel and avoid a collision.

I am experiencing a recurring battery/charging system detection warning with my vehicle that has not been resolved despite multiple service visits. The warning continues to reappear after the vehicle is returned to me, indicating the issue has not been properly diagnosed or repaired. My vehicle has been in the shop approximately 5 times for this same issue. Each time, I am told the problem is resolved or that they cannot replicate the issue, yet the warning returns shortly afterward. To date, no permanent fix has been provided, and the underlying problem has not been remedied. I have made repeated attempts to work with gm and the dealership, but meaningful assistance or escalation has not occurred. This ongoing electrical issue raises concerns about the reliability and safety of the vehicle, as well as gm’s failure to correct a known, documented problem. I am requesting appropriate escalation and resolution, including further diagnostic intervention by a regional service manager or field engineer, or consideration of alternative remedies if the issue cannot be permanently repaired.

When driving on a right hand curve with traffic in the opposite direction lane, the forward collision warning system flashed a large red warning flash on the instrument panel near the speedometer. This was alarming and caused me to put on the brakes immediately, although there was no impending crash. This cause the cars behind me to take evasive action and apply their brakes in an emergency fashion and almost cause several collisions. Glenn kowalske, p. E.

Purchased 3/1/2019 problems since 4/18/2019 electrical system malfunctioning. Remote left in vehicle warning when no key in vehicle, rear view mirror overheating (over 110*) cellphone charging port overheating, blind spot detection malfunctioning, forward collision detection malfunctioning, navigation and iphone audio connections malfunctioning. Mirror was replaced once. Rear camera was replaced twice. This was after a gm service person was sent down to rotolo to look into it. Since then nothing has been repaired. Service reps keep saying they can't get it to duplicate the problems. We have video and photos of issues. Matt wolf was the gm investigator. He never returns calls/emails. Yesterday after several phone calls to different gm departments, I was informed he no longer works with the company. The last thing I was told was to wait for a call to bring the vehicle into rotolo so another gm service person would be sent. That was over 2 months ago. Since no one has called I scheduled another service for sat. Vehicle cannot be driven and has to sit parked. It is unsafe to drive. Problems ongoing since 4/2019.
