2 Wheel problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 08/04/2025

My 2018 Chevrolet Traverse, has unresolved safety defects that endanger occupants and other road users. These include transmission failure with loss of acceleration, “shift?to?park” malfunctions preventing engine shut?off, inoperative blind?spot/cross?traffic sensors, faulty tire pressure monitoring, and an active oil leak from the timing gasket cover. These issues occur unpredictably during normal driving and parking, creating an immediate risk of collision, roll?away, or engine fire. All of these issued happened within a very short time frame. June 2025 and I took my car into crews chevy, they want over $15,000 to repair. All of these items I have mentioned have numerous class action lawsuits (that they have won) for the year of my vehicle. I have spoken with gm (and have a case number) however, they are unwilling to repair, at no cost to me. I have an [xxx] daughter and work 7 days a week. I have been with out a car since [xxx] due to these issues. I do have the estimate for the repairs if needed. I do not have an actual repair invoice, as I wasn't able to afford the over $15,000 repairs. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

3 Wheel problem of the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 03/05/2025

* what component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the breaks continually squeak so loud. They have done this since the first month I had car. The dealership said that they compared it, and it is normal for the car. On paper, they wrote could not replicate, even though they could. It’s so loud and annoying. New car should not sound like this. Tires slide on snow and ice. * how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? in any weather conditions, yes. I have slid on ice many times. I had a near death experience on a snowy morning hiting a slick spot and fish tailing. The tires provided should be better than what they are. Another time last week I drove over melted snow (40 degrees out) must have been ice under, car would not break and I was unable to stop at the stop sign! it skidded through. * has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? break sound has been reproduced and they said they can’t do anything. They documented that they couldn’t reproduce it. That was frustrating. Tires I will share concerns when I return. * has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? * no * were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? * my check engine light has come on at least 3 times. That’s a separate issue with this car. Multiple check engine lights with no known issue to solve at dealership.

4 Wheel problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 09/08/2024

For at least 5 years, we have been consistently encountering this same problem. After driving awhile, typically at higher speeds, we will get a error message saying to "service stabilitrack and traction control" and "traction control has been turned off". Often this is accompanied by significant shaking of the vehicle and steering column, random gear shifting, impeding your ability to control acceleration and sometimes causing steering issues. We have taken to our mechanic numerous times, and he is unable to diagnose the issue. A code reader returns: abs-tcs brake switch circuit malfunction. This issue is well-documented in vehicle forums online (google: Chevrolet Traverse stabilitrack or traction control.

6 Wheel problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 06/10/2024

The big problem when I drive is that it is not safe, it jerks when I start to accelerate. I took it to the nearest dealer to have the problem fixed. And they do not want to fix the problem and now I just want to get this vehicle off the roads. I do not want to cause an accident and put my family at risk.

Failure Date: 05/21/2024

My service tire monitor system light is on.

8 Wheel problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 10/13/2023

I own a 2020 Chevrolet Traverse. At the time of the incident, I was driving at 55 mph and heard a very loud and unusual sound. The vehicle then began to uncontrollably shake so I pulled over to the right shoulder. A truck driver pulled over with me as he thought it was something in his truck that had malfunctioned due to the intensity of the sound that it produced. At the rear right wheel of my vehicle, the metal rim was broken vertically causing the rim to separate into two parts. The tire is completely intact. Thank god, the outermost part of the rim that holds the nuts did not break and stayed completely whole and solid letting me pull off to the right shoulder. To put it into perspective, the wheel was left in three different parts. The first part was the tire. The second part was the cylindrical shaped metal rim that stayed inside the tire. The third part, being the outermost part of the metal rim, can be envisioned as a simple cap. There were not any warning lights that became illuminated on my dash. My vehicle has not been previously repaired or diagnosed by any independent mechanic or dealer. The wheel, tire, and rim are the original fabricated parts that came with my vehicle.

11 Wheel problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 02/27/2021

Making loud sounds when turning wheel and in motion I've only had this car for 4 months bought of dealership and it has more than 3 issues related to the power steer.

12 Wheel problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 12/08/2020

While driving down highway at 55 mph suddenly hear a beep and see a warning that traction control is off, then service stabilitrak warning kept flashing and car in skid image is on constantly. Also after these warnings started flashing the speed control could not be set. Luckily I did't lose power this time as so many others have reported. After arriving home and restarting the car later all the warning lights were off. For several weeks now when resuming speed after stopping the car lunges while getting back up to speed. This could have been very dangerous had I lost or had reduced power like has happened to so many. Gm really needs to issue a recall and fix this problem before someone is killed.

13 Wheel problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 06/03/2020

The tire pressure monitoring system shows incorrect information. It is of by 3 - 5 psi when compared to a tire pressure gauge the is tested & calibrated accurate to ±2% at our jaco nist and ansi certified calibration lab. Not knowing the correct tire air pressure risks a blowout while traveling. The component will be inspected within 5 days at a Chevrolet dealership service center. The failure causes alerts on the driver information center to the incorrect tire pressure. The error first appeared around June 2020 while checking the tire pressure with my gauge.

14 Wheel problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 04/29/2020

I purchased a 2017 chevy Traverse in 2018, with it's original factory goodyear fortera p255/65r18 109s dot 4rxm ardr 2916 tires. On 4/29/20 the low tire light came on and I discovered a screw was in the tire. I went to discount tire to have it fixed and the guy there noticed that the front passenger was cracking and splitting from the rim. He said those specific goodyear tires are to be good for 65,000 miles. The chevy Traverse only has 36,120 miles on it, 9,000 more than when we purchased it. I now have to purchase four new tires because the current ones are beginning to spit and crack which could lead to a blow out. My wife mainly drives the Traverse with our 2 daughters to and from school and daycare. I will provide a picture where you can clearly see the split below the rim. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.

15 Wheel problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 04/04/2020

Tires:bridgestone alanza 255/65 r18 111t mts. At speeds @60-75 mph on ridged cemet highways this vehicle needs constant (slight) over steering. All other road there is no problem. With a side wind it's really pronounced. The write up personal at the dealer had heard of this issue but could net find any written info anywhere. The salesman had also heard of the problem on both the Traverse and equinox. Kind of surprises me when I hit a ridged section at high speed. My question is will this fair on a snowy michigan highway.

16 Wheel problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 02/01/2020

Purchased a year ago in FL. My windshield came loose twice already where you can see the padding in the dashboard area again. The tire on driver side has to have air in it several times after driving about 20 mins. Pressure keeps reading at 26 and alarm going off with the problem. Husband refills and three days later I move the vehicle and it happens again. Windshield you can hear air leaking from it. Several times when I started my car it had a weird engine noise loud acceleration even when sitting in my driveway. I read no recalls but possible class action pending if you refuse to fix the vehicles. I will be over 36 months before my car reaches 30k miles. I drive to and from doctors, grocery shopping. Casual driving.

17 Wheel problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 08/14/2019

Takata recall driving down the road and traction control off, stabilitrak service, and abs light came on. Engine light also. Sick in tired of throwing money into this Traverse. I love the SUV but I can't afford all of this mechanical issues.

19 Wheel problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 05/22/2019

Traction control/stabilink system does not work properly. Vehicle will lose power while accelerating. There is a grinding noise which slowes the vehicle down. This happens each time the vehicle is driven. This is very dangerous when pulling out into traffic or onto highways where others are traveling at fast rate of speed. I see many complaints on the web when researching 2010 chevy Traverse for problems. The VIN number of my vehicle is not included in recall but symptoms are the same as vehicles that were recalled.

20 Wheel problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 05/17/2019

I have been driving and my driver side headlight will randomly shut off and sometimes come back on. My driver side control for the passenger side window has stopped working, the passenger side can only be rolled down by the passenger side control. Front passenger side tire keeps deflating with for no reason there is nothing in the tire to make a hole but the tire keeps losing pressure. For the tire it is anytime if the car is moving or if it is stopped. The headlight will turn off and on if I hit any bumps, hit the headlight cover by hand, and sometimes it will turn off and on without any bumps at all. The window control just does not work at all now and it has started to effect the rear passenger side as well.

21 Wheel problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 05/09/2019

All 4 tires slowly leak and have to be filled back up very often. When I first got it the tires were brand new and I had to fill them every month now I have to fill them every 2 weeks or sooner.

22 Wheel problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 03/04/2019

Vehicle swaddles heavily after a certain speed to the point where my children have hit the sides of their heads with the windows/doors. Makes a loud noise in the front when driving and turning, you can feel the grinding noise vibrations on the bottom of feet.

23 Wheel problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 01/16/2019

Air bag signal and highways push me to right side.

24 Wheel problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 01/07/2019

I purchased this vehicle in January 2017 with one owner having had it. Here it is now 2 years later and I have numerous problems with my vehicle. Some other owners have had but it still isn't part of a recall. The past year I have already spent over $1000 to fix it. Items already replaced include several sensors, wheel bearing, power steerig pump and a battery. What still needs replacing: rack and pinyon, shocks and struts, and I have an electrical problem. Currently, my windows go down but won't go up because there is an intermittent electrical problem and my radio cuts in and out. I am still paying for the car and no one is helping. Other users have reported some of the same thing. If I go to my mechanic he tells me there are thousands of service announcements. But when I look at my make and model there is only 4 recalls and if I go by VIN specifically there is none. This is ridiculous ! someone should help. With a car that isn't that old I shouldn't be having this many issues. I have 154,039 miles on it. It isn't safe. My window is stuck right now I'm the down position. I can move it down more but not up. I have 3 kids. My car seems to not work more than it does. Nothing like screwing over the little guy. . . Chevy number one on safety ya right.

25 Wheel problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 08/19/2018

Driving this SUV on the road the inner liner under the fender started to come down and rub on the tire, smelly rubber was being burnt as I stop right away and notice the weak cheap fabric that was in-place instead of a hard plastic came down almost causing a fire hazard !! what a cheap car and yes to those who own this car or drive it your in danger beware! this product should be replaced ASAP, before a counter lawsuit happensgm!also ive notice! if you turn your wheel all the way your cv,joints will make this clicking noise like there ready to go out ? took it to my dealer and they said gm told them to replace a crew to stop the noise called gm and ask them but they said no we didn't ?.

26 Wheel problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 07/07/2018

Had two to three tires replaced due to flats dont really know what caused flats , tires can never hold a proper inflation of 35 psi , some tires go very low (27psi )causing panic to my wife and family as we drive vehicle . Flats were noted while driving as low tire pressure lights came on. I put 7/7/2018 only to access dates could follow chevy service dept.

27 Wheel problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 07/02/2018

I just bought my 2015 Traverse a week ago and noticed that the tires have large cracks in them, my vehicle only has 34,000 miles on it and the tires are the ones put on from the factory, I've looked for recalls, and there is one out for the tires, but not for my specific VIN. The tires are doing the exact same way as the recall.

28 Wheel problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 05/11/2018

The vehicle is less then 2 years old with 31748 miles. All 4 goodyear fortera hl tires were showing visible cracking and dry rotting in between the treats & on sidewalls. There was a recall on these tires in 2015 but we were told our tires don't qualify for replacement. We had the tires replaced with an out of pocket expense of $411. Gm refused to help us in anyway although this is considered a safety issue because the sidewall could blow out. I am aware of others that have had the same issue and we're also refused help by gm.

29 Wheel problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 04/05/2018

Approximately 2 weeks ago after hitting a very small pot hole I noticed a loud noise when I would turn the steering wheel to the right only 3 days after that it's still to right and never to the left but does make some noise straight. Called our dealer for an appointment but it's going to be a while 5-15 and they checked and no recalls are on our car but I've read numerous safety issues about these vehicles. Last week while it was raining I noticed my car felt like it was sliding or skating once again called dealer was told still can't help any sooner. Now today while windy and raining it was awful literally a fight to keep it in the road it was swaying and most definitely did not feel safe. Myself and my husband have 3 sons and he works for the state of ky forestry dept. Fighting wildfires and works a lot and is sometimes out of state for 21-40 days straight so he's not here much to check things out. Our boys are all into sports and other after school programs year round with lots of traveling involved. My concern is from all the suspension issues I've read that there was a recall on my car but says 0 which doesn't seem right. I wanna be sure that my family will be safe when in this vehicle and as if right now it sure doesn't feel like it. Please help me find more info because hitting a pot hole (very small bump zero damage) shouldn't cause all these problems requiring my family to have to spend a ton of money to fix. This isn't good business and I would hope Chevrolet would care if the safety of a whole family would be in jeporady over something that shouldn't be wrong with my vehicle that by the way only has 79000 miles on it. Hope someone gets in contact with me thanks have a great day.

30 Wheel problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 02/14/2018

During a scheduled maintenance at my dealership, located in carrollton, ohio the repair technician discovered that all four goodyear fortura hl size 255/65r18 tires that were original on my vehicle, were cracking on the sidewall near the tires bead. I learned that this particular tire, the same make, model, size, and defect, was on a recall from goodyear. My vehicle, a 2016 chevy Traverse lt awd was taken to the local goodyear dealer. The dot number on my tires is 4bxmaror or dr. The dealer determined that my tires were manufactured after the goodyear recall had expired. So the issue here is that the goodyear tires on my car are having the same defects as the expired recall tires had. To me that means there are many goodyear tires that are defective driving the roads. This presents a serious safety issue due to these defective tires blowing out at or near the cracking sidewalls. The miles on my car when the defect was discovered was 28,266. I ended up purchasing a set of cooper tires and was charged a pro-rated cost of $362. 95. If I purchased the same goodyear fortera hl tire, I would have paid a pro-rated cost of $608. 00. I felt and still feel that goodyear owes me a new set of tires at no cost due to having the same defective tires as the expired recall tires. I wrote a letter to the goodyear tire & rubber company ceo, who passed it off to their customer service office who offered no remedy other than the pro-rated cost. In closing, the main issue here is that there are currently defective goodyear fortera hl tires size 255/65r18, that are being driven on our roadways by unsuspecting consumers. There needs to be an immediate total recall on these tires to prevent potential loss of life.

31 Wheel problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 01/02/2018

Steering, turn either way, backing out of space there is a strange click noise, has 4631 miles only. Blue tooth won't come on all of sudden either for hands free speaking.

32 Wheel problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 11/22/2017

I keep getting codes for emission and timings chain. My back up safety sensor and wheel sensor doesn't work.

33 Wheel problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 10/19/2017

My tires came with my brand new car in 2015. It is 2017 and they have 30,000 miles on them. All 4 of my tires had large cracks in the inner side of my tires. Also, these tires wore unevenly. I have had tire rotations every balances with every on time scheduled oil changes. As well as had a few alignment in the past two years to ensure I did everything right by these tires. I went in Thursday October 19th to get a possible leak checked. The tire place said I was due for 4 new tires for wear and cracks. I was like, what? my car is too new for new tires and low milage on the tires. This posed a tire blow out threat and potential threat to my life and my family. I have kept my tires to submit as proof. The picture does do its justice as the cracks were far bigger and more apparent when they were actually on my car.

34 Wheel problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 07/19/2017

When I drive car wheels, transmission and power train freeze up for approximately 30 seconds to a minute intermittently while I drive. This is happening with more frequency while I drive. It happens whether I am driving 5 mph or 65 mph.
