19 Body problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 09/14/2011

I have a 2008 chevy Uplander which has developed a severe banging of the rear axle through the rear tailing arm bushing the manufacturer is well aware of the failure of the rear trailing arm bushings in this vehicle and with all models with this type of rear axle. The vehicle sounds as if someone is pounding on the bottom of the frame whenever I hit any size bump at any speed. I know that the manufacturer is aware of this specific problem because chevy has issued a revision to their mechanics repair manual with an addendum numbered pit3323e. Which states that:" if no problems are found with the rear suspension components after thorough diagnosis then replace the rear trailing arm bushings" this addendum goes on to state that "a visual inspection of the rear trailing arm bushings may show no fault" I believe that I should have this defect repaired for free or at a discounted pro rated charge. But, no I am dropping the car off tommorrow to have this repaired at the cost of $ 380. 00. I feel that a t. S. B. Should be issued so that owners of these cars should have their repairs done at a fair prorated charge. Unfortunately its too late for me because the noise and jarring of the body upon hitting a small pebble in the road has become unbearable and I have to bite the bullet,if only for my own sanity. Oh, p. S. I have replaced two sets of shocks in the rear since the defect was impossible to detect by any means, whether it be a visual inspection or by jacking up the rear and physically manipulating and trying to obsrve the operation and action of the axle to duplicate the noise. No such luck!!!!!!!!.

24 Body problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 07/15/2010

I own a 2006 chevy Uplander. The problem started off with the drivers side sliding door wouldn't stay closed. I would close it, it would ding and re open on its own, finally got it to stay closed after several attempts. It got to the point when I opened the door it would take 10 minutes or so to get it to stay closed. I was driving into town and I was going around 45 mph and the door came open on its own, when this happened I pulled off the road and spent a good 20 mins trying to get the door to stay closed, I had to take the fuse out in order for the door to stay closed. I have done some research online and found over 50 other owners who are having this same issue.

25 Body problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 03/15/2010

1st the check engine light keeps coming on and when put on diagnostic code came back po463. The van wouldn't pass emissions and when you fill up with has it would say it was empty. There's a loud popping noise sounds like at axle. It does this after you stop at red lights. I was told this had to do with axle and could break and cause fatal accident, the abs light keeps coming on and the braking system scared me to death. The doors constantly chime or ding and the doors will open going down the road. I was so upset because I have to transport my elderly aunt and and two children and before I was about to pay to have all this fixed I decided to check out recall. I am so shocked that you can look this up online and they are 1000 documented complaints on all the same problems but yet no recalls. Is it gonna take people getting killed to do this. Im praying for something less tragic and trying to save these precious lives. There is research and lawsuits that the Chevrolet Uplanders have alot of these problems from 2005 to 2008 especially with the doors and like me everyone gets annoyed and unplugs them and have to use them manually but why should we when are still paying for automatic doors. This van is truly unsafe and a lemon. I pray to god everyday to keep me safe while driving and have told my husband if I die while driving this vehicle he should sue!!!.

28 Body problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 01/12/2009

The sliding door on rear passenger side of van would not close without the 'open door bell' beeping constantly (even after closed). Sometimes after re-closing, it would stop but this eventually became a constant happening. We live in PA. And were in FL. When this first happened, so we took it to a dealer to have it fixed. Approx. A year later, the same thing happened. Again, after opening and closing the door a number of times the beeping would sometimes stop, but when we needed to use the door, it would repeat. We took it to the dealer the second time to have it repaired. Now, we are experiencing the same thing again and the beeping will not stop! this is way too expensive for us to handle. We are seniors and cannot afford to pay for this kind of defect. Please help us!.

29 Body problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 12/09/2008

Dash indicator shows side sliding door is open, when it is not. Bells ding, inside lights come on, doors become inoperative from inside vehicle. Has occurred approximately 50 times. We have had in shop somewhere between 10 and 15 times, both door modules have been replaced, and body control module now being replaced. Chevrolet states that it doesn't set a trouble code, so they have no record of the occurences, though service department manager has seen this happen in person. My concern is when this happens, my wife, myself and or children cannot get out of the vehicle, and I feel this is unsafe. Chevrolet does not agree that this is unsafe. I really want to move on to another vehicle, but Chevrolet will not assist. The vehicle is paid for, free and clear, so this is not an issue of owing money and wanting out. Chevrolet should make the vehicle safe, and is not doing anything to ensure this. They have been handling this under warranty, but this last time vehicle is in shop for two weeks - no loaner, no alternative transportation for us.

32 Body problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 11/20/2007

The rear power doors on my 2006 Uplander have constantly needed service. There have been times the door alarm goes off when the door is not actually open, we have to pull over and reset the doors by opening and closing them. The roller bearings have been replaced twice on the drivers slider. Both doors have been serviced at least 10 times for improper closing, faulty sensor alarm dinging even when the doors are closed, sometimes it takes many attempts for the doors to close. The driver side door almost came completely off when the roller bearings broke. These doors are unsafe and beyond defective.

34 Body problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 05/16/2007

Rear drivers sliding door would open in parked position on its own, would repeatedly have to close door, once while driving down the hghway it opened on its own. Took it too dealer in longview washington, quoted price of $1400. 00 to fix or have it disengaged and open and close manually. I chose the latter, an inconvenience but cheaper. This is a safety hazard for families with children or for that matter it is a safety hazzard for anyone sitting in the passenger seat. This is just another example of the gm workmanship. Would not ever buy another gm product.
