1 Brake Light problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 05/07/2014

I was sitting in traffic at a dead stop, then when the traffic light changed to green I put my foot on the gas pedal. As soon as I did the accelerator pedal stuck, went all the way to the floor and caused me to hit the vehicle in front of me. Also my gas gauge didn't work and would randomly move back and forth, even if I had a full tank of gas. Then, the driver side brake light continued to go out due to the melting of the part of the bulb, not the bulb itself. My electric sliding door on passenger side came off the track due to the cord and pulley/motor in the door. I could never get the door to work other than by manually opening and closing the door after that.

4 Brake Light problem of the 1997 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 04/11/2012

Rear brake lamps keep failing, light bar on top works fine but both side rear brake lamps fail continuously. Upon disassembly of brake light one can see the sockets and bulb contacts are melting. This van has already had the entire rear light assembly on each side replaced but problem is reoccuring. Cleaning/sanding sockets works temporarily but problem returns within a couple of weeks. Bulb replacement alone does not work. Filaments in bulbs are not burnt out but contacts on bulbs and sockets are burnt. This only affects the ciruit the brake light filament is on, the tailights (which share the same multifilament bulb) are not affected. Upon further research it's quite apparent this is a problem very common across most or all model years of this van. This is a safety issue for the occupants - the lights can (and will) fail without notice leaving driver vulnerable to collisions from behind due to inadequate signaling.

6 Brake Light problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 03/26/2011

The brake lights on both sides stopped working after failing many times over. Upon checking the bulbs and the voltage with a meteor. . . . It was discovered that they do work as long as the sliding door is in motion, hardly acceptable while driving on the road. Anything we can do about this?.

8 Brake Light problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 06/30/2010

The brake light on drivers side of 2003 chevy Venture constantly is burning out. Occurs within a week after repair each time. I have replaced the bulbs half a dozen times and replaced the entire circuit board twice with new dorman units. Problem persists. This is a common issue/complaint with this and other similar gm vans. It is a safety issue, makes it difficult to pass vehicle inspections and may result in a fine if I am stopped.

9 Brake Light problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 03/30/2010

Brake bulbs continually blow, and over heat in my chevy Venture minivan. I thought it might be an isolated incident but my neighbors montana (same parts & manufacturer) is doing the same. Also have noticed others on the road now that have rear brake lights out. I think this is a defect. In addition, the light bar was burned in several places when we replaced it the first time, and had signs of heat damage when we replaced yet another bulb. Updated 08/24/10. The consumer sent in additional complaints from other Chevrolet Venture owners. Updated ivoq 08/25/10.

10 Brake Light problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 10/07/2009

We bought our 2003 Chevrolet Venture last year and have had constant problems with the brake light which do not work 80 % of the time. The circuit boards that hold the bulbs burn up the plastic and the bulbs which causes them to not light up when I press on my brakes. This is a consistent problem and even though I have had the boards replaced twice and the connector to the boards replaced I still have the same problem. I have spent well over 500 dollars to try to correct this problem. I have read on several forums that this is a constant and consistent problem among hundreds of owners of the Chevrolet Venture of various year models, and I am sure there are more owners of this make and model out there with the same issue. One of these days I am going to get rear ended because I have no way of knowing if my brake lights are out. I am going to get hit and then either have myself or one of my three children end up in the hospital because of a defect on Chevrolet's part. This is shameful that they have had various complaints about this problem but have yet to recall this defect because of safety issues.

11 Brake Light problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 08/13/2009

The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Venture. The contact stated that the rear brake lights were not functioning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostics where the technician advised that there was condensation and moisture throughout the front headlights and the rear brake lights. The technician stated that the headlight cover would have to be replaced but advised that the failure would continue to recur. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

12 Brake Light problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 08/01/2009

I have a 2003 chevy Venture with brake light issues. The bulbs are always going out and when I replace it with a new bulb it will only last a day to a few weeks before going out again. When I take the bad bulb out you can see that the plastic is melted on the bulb. This is seems like a safety issue seeing that they go out so often you never know if you have brake lights. Someone is going to get in an accident that can be avoided if chevy would recall this vehicle and fix the problem. I know a lot are having this issue. I have replaced bulbs and the circuit board hoping that would fix it but it only lasted a few months before the lights started going out again.

13 Brake Light problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 02/01/2009

For the past 2 years, both rear brake lights continue to fail without any detectable reason. I have researched many "fixes" ranging from replacing blown circuit boards, bending prongs for better connection and greasing the connections. The dealership said replacing the bulbs would fix the issue, only to fail within the following week. An independent garage cleaned the components and bent the prongs holding the bulbs in place to give a better connection. The circuit boards have been replaced, but that didn't help either. Iall of these solutions have worked for 2 weeks at the longest. There is no evidence of melting components, mositure or residue within the circuit boards or brake bulb connections. I have found, if I "bang" on each brake light prior to driving it might remain working until I get to my destination. I have 2 small children in the car with me almost 99% of the time, I'm scared of getting rear ended because the person behind me didn't know I was stoping because my brake lights didn't work. I'm hoping I'm one of many who have voiced their concern to your agency.

14 Brake Light problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 09/01/2008

The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Venture. He stated the brake lights were inoperable. Upon attempting to change the light bulbs, he noticed the socket and the circuit boards were melted because of irregular electric flow. The risk of vehicle crash is increased if the ability to signal intentions to other drivers is not available. The failure mileage was 65,000 and the current was 72,000. The VIN was not available.

15 Brake Light problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 06/11/2008

The drivers side sliding door came off the hinge at the back. The door will not close properly now, and can not be used. The brake light burns out everytime it is replaced and looks like it melts the base of the bulb and the socket looks like it has been melted also. The middle section, drivers side seat belt will not release.

16 Brake Light problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 01/21/2008

2003 Chevrolet Venture brake lights failed multiple times. Only found out when warned by police that no brake lights were operational. Sockets were melted. Replaced the tail lamp circuit board. After two months the same problem occurred again, resulting in no brake lights. Repeated replacement of circuit board, and the same problem occurred again after five months. No brake lights=safety hazard.

17 Brake Light problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 01/01/2008

2003 chevy Venture, constantly having non working brake lights . Replacing bulbs constantly because of the melting. Replaced them again with a lubricate, that I was told was needed for this type of car. Still having problems. Getting tired of having to fix the brake lights everytime I need to go out. !!!!!!!!!!! tired of being pulled over by the cops because of my non working brake lights. . . . . . . . . . . .

18 Brake Light problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 10/25/2007

The brake light on the drivers side constantly blows out. . We have replaced it numerous times, but it still blows. The base of the bulbs look melted on every one we have replaced. Now the turn signal on the driver's side goes crazy and blinks very fast at random. It can work right for 20 times and then go crazy the next time it is used. .

23 Brake Light problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 10/01/2006

The driver's side brake light on my 2002 chevy Venture is always out. The bulb has been replaced numerous times, to no avail. Technicians at oil change businesses have told me that this is common problem with chevy Ventures. I have seen other chevy Ventures on the road with the same light out. I had my Venture at the car dealer for a recall service on the door handles and asked them to also fix the brake light problem. They finished my sentence for me when I was describing the problem--they already knew that Ventures have this problem. However, they did not fix it. I also believe that chevy trucks and suvs have been recalled for this very problem. I believe the Venture should be recalled too.

24 Brake Light problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 08/29/2006

The driver's side brake light burns out constantly on my 2002 Chevrolet Venture van. It seems the housing gets too hot and melts the bulb at the point of contact. My mechanic has replaced the bulb and attempted to fix it numerous times as have I. My mechanic says he has seen this before on this model van and it's always the driver side. I'm afraid I will be rear-ended with this light being out most of the time. Chevrolet has failed to admit there is an issue.

25 Brake Light problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 07/29/2006

I own a 2000 Chevrolet Venture and I am having problems with my brake light bulbs melting in the sockets. I replace them and they work for a while until they melt resulting in the bulb burning out. I know of several other people that own chevy Ventures that also have this problem. I feel that this problem needs to be looked into before it results in a fire or an accident. Any help with this problem will be appreciated.

26 Brake Light problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 04/29/2006

2002 chevy Venture brake lights. Mostly, the rear right brake light does not function properly. Occasionally, the left rear brake light may not function either. Sometimes, both will not work correctly. The vast majority of the time, the right rear brake does not work or "blows" prematurely. Have replaced four bulbs on the right side alone, of which two didn't appear to be blown. Have seen and talked to other Venture owners who have same problem. This is a road hazard as you never know if and how many of your brake lights are operational.

27 Brake Light problem of the 1998 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 12/17/2005

I own a 1998 chevy Venture minivan and on the date specified I was out with my family ( a snowy evening) when I went to apply the brakes and my turn signals on my dash went to a solid green. As I approached the red light a person in the car next to me advised me that I had no taillights. After getting home I did some research on the internet and found that this is a widespread problem where if moisture gets into the connector on the brake light assembly, it will cause the ground connector to short out and cause the brake lights to do some crazy things as well as the cruise control to disengage at certain times.

28 Brake Light problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 12/07/2005

The left rear (driver's side) brake light (upper most bulb/3057) keeps burning out. This has occurred three times in the last three years. Upon inspection of the bulb, there is physical damage (melting) on the male bulb connection.

29 Brake Light problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 07/13/2005

On my 2003 chevy Venture extended I have had to replace both tail light braking bulbs. My concern is that the bulbs elements inside the bulb didn't burn out they shorted out at the socket on both drive and passenger side melting the bulb to the socket. I'm afraid that this is gooing to create a electrical fire.

30 Brake Light problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 02/01/2005

Flashing of lights and fuel gauge floats drastically constantly. The vehicle also experienced problems with low brake fluid, the door ajar, the rear hatch ajar, and the brake light remained on.

31 Brake Light problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 12/20/2004

Tail lamp bulb base and/or sockets on general motors minivans heating up and melting causing a disconnection of the circuit and loss of stop and turn signals. Same condition as with the SUV's in recall # 04v527000. Replacing bulbs are only a temporary fix.

32 Brake Light problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 01/10/2004

I have been stopped & warned by others constantly since I have owned the vehicle about having no brake lights, except for the third brake light, above the rear glass. I replaced two bulbs 3057 in the tail eights at least every 3 weeks. The bulbs looked fine. I have to remove, sometimes replace, sometimes just reset the bulbs. Been to the dealership countless times ,to no avail! very frustrating & dangerous. Will cause cruise control to fail - generally the first warning I have to alert me of the tail light failure. Just waiting to be rear ended!.

33 Brake Light problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 09/01/2003

The rear brake lights/upper tail lights (not the high 3rd brake light) keep burning out. The service manual references a fuse but upon visual inspection of the fuse box, the box was never wired to hold fuses for the rear tail lamps in the places as indicated. Once the rear tailight/brake lights (3057) are removed there is usually physical damage (melting) on the bulb connection and within the female end of the plug. The problem was corrected by the dealer the first time but has happend several more times. Simply changing the bulb no longer works for the left side tail lamp.

34 Brake Light problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 11/19/1999

Brake lights failure. First, intermittent failure of right rear brake light. Dealer inspected, found no mechanical problem. Fuses good. Bulb good. Did not know both sides failed until pulled over by police.
