1 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 10/13/2019

After refueling, the vehicle began leaking fuel from the tank near the area where the fuel inlet enters the tank. There is a safety recall bulletin, 06230, and the VIN numbers of vehicles affected does include my vehicle. However gm will not cover the cost to repair, claiming my vehicle is not affected. Obviously it is affected or it would not be leaking fuel from the exact same area covered by the recall! there are several complaints on the NHTSA website stating the same experience. Why won't gm cover the repair even when there is a recall? to make matters worse, gm no longer makes the replacement tank and I can not find an aftermarket tank either.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 12/04/2018

I have a leaking fuel tank. It is described perfectly in recall: 07v349000, gm recall # 06230. When I took it to the dealer, they told me because of higher mileage, it is not covered. I then called gm and they told me the same thing. How can you sell a vehicle with a defective part, put it on recall and then not fix it? I am glad I found it before my vehicle caught on fire!.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 08/23/2018

Suddenly my vehicle had a strong gasoline odor when I walked up on it in the morning I smelled it 3 feet away from my vehicle. It happened just like that all of a sudden. I scheduled my inspection with my mechanic and I told him I suddenly was smelling a strong odor of gas. My mechanic called and informed me there was a crack in my gas tank and it is leaking so that is why I was smelling gas so badly. We ordered another 2002 Chevrolet Venture gas tank from a salvage yard. They shipped the gas tank and when my mechanic opened it it was broke in the same exact place. This is why I thought looking up for possible recall. I found recall 07v349000. Stated the fuel tank inlet check valve can crack and leak. Stated affected Chevrolet Venture 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004. I have 2002. My problem is it's VIN specific according to Chevrolet the number that I was given to call about the recall. 18006302438. My VIN number was not included. My problem fits the description perfectly but they claim they can't help me. This is a serious safety problem for anyone. I now have to pay over 1,000. 00 for a new gas tank or have no car. I do not have any transportation now. My Chevrolet Venture is sitting at my mechanics.

13 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 09/25/2014

Icv (in line check valve) housing on fuel tank has started cracking and leaking fuel. Chevrolet says this unit is not affected by recall 07v349000. It appears to be the same as my other Venture we had the recall performed on leaking at same spot. This is a fire hazard and gm should repair this on all Venture vans. I have run across hundreds of people in discussion with same issue and not within gm's VIN breaks. I think gm needs to look at this again. I have pictures to prove what is going on.

14 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 09/09/2014

On or around this date my vehicle started to leak fuel from the fuel tank inlet check valve weld. There appears to have been a recall/special coverage # 07203 for this problem dated 8/7/07. I am informed by gm that this expired last year?? I also realize that despite fairly low mileage my vehicle is 11 years old but it is in very good condition and currently registered and has passed safety inspection in MA. My question to you is how can something as dangerous as this have a expiration date??.

The fuel gauge floats all over the place you never know how much gas is in the van, and I can smell gas fumes real strong while sitting still and some times they are strong enough to smell while driving, was reading the recall list from gm on this 2003 chevy Venture and I dont think my van has been recalled I am going to notifie the dealership (mans chysler ) and see why they never told me about all the recalls before they sold me the van. Gas gauge does not accurately reflect fuel. It jumps wildly at times from full to empty and back to full. It often shows 3/4 of a tank when it is actually near empty. I had to begin tracking my mileage to ensure I do not run out of gas. Gas light goes on and off but usually coincides with an empty reading.

23 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 06/20/2012

I noticed fuel mileage being really off and a very strong gasoline smell and had it checked @ our local repair shop and was told gas tank weld had failed; we were also told we were very lucky that we got it in as soon as we did. Very dangerous! was also told by mechanic that there had been recalls on this very thing and also even more service bulletins. I contacted gm and was told yes there had been recalls but not our VIN number group! now it's time to do this before someone dies or is maimed. They told me they were very sorry but glad no one was hurt! I was also told to save all my paper work just in case @ which time I told them I save everything! they were more concerned about why I had taken it to our repair shop rather than one of their dealers; I told them that the only thing I ever got from their dealers were that they could not ever replicate the problem; then our repairman would fix what they couldn't even identify.

24 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 02/22/2011

The fuel gauge either shows full or empty. It will show full while driving, but when sitting still, even if you just filled up the low fuel light will come on and the gauge will drop to empty. Other than setting the trip, you have no way of knowing how much gas is in the tank. When you get to half a tank or so, the light will come on constantly and ding. Have tried many things to fix this problem but nothing seems to work. I have heard this on a lot of this same type vehicle.
