1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2026

My husband sat down in the driver seat of my vehicle thatwas parked in our driveway and wasnt even turned on and the head rest deployed and smacked the back of his head.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2024

I will be driving on the freeway, highway in the snow on ice in the summer wherever, suddenly my engine shuts down. I lose my power steering, my brakes and my safety. I have had my vehicle checked out and nobody can find anything because there are no codes that are being thrown. No dashboard lights going on nothing to indicate there's an issue. The safety of me my mother who rides with me often my grandchildren are at risk. Most recently it happened during a ice rain we had and I can't push on my brakes and my power steering is gone and my car spins in the middle of the road because I have no control over it. The only thing that I have been able to maybe come up with is something in the engine that was discovered maybe in 2015 something about a pcm I believe. So they did recall 2015 and newer vehicles and left all of us with the 2011 to 2014 vehicles to ben for ourselves. I am making payments on this vehicle and I want to send it to the junkyard. I can't keep pouring money into it trying to figure out why it just stalls. If this isn't present and safety issue to Chrysler then nothing does. I find it hard to believe a company that makes millions of dollars maybe billions a year cannot find it within themselves to recall the engines in these Chrysler 200 vehicles that are having these issues. With that I'm hoping that it won't one day die on me in the middle of traffic and I get hit possibly killed because it just dies and I have no control over it. As soon as I can pay it off I am dumping this car I will not put it on anyone else it isn't fair to them and frankly it wasn't fair to me buying this used from a dealer and having this issue. Oh by the way sometimes it will start right back up if I put it into neutral while I'm driving and hit the key others it will not sometimes it takes 2 hours for it to start again sometimes 10 minutes. I don't know why it does it frankly I don't care I would just like it fixed. I'm single I don't make a lot of money and it's frustratin.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2023

Driver's active headrest deployed while driving. There was no accident or collision of any kind. Just driving and it popped me in the back of the head. It hurt and caused me to swerve, almost caused an accident. There are no lamps or warning lights. I can see a broken plastic clip inside the active headrest.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2023

Car has always ran great no problems. I go to leave house and as soon as I drive maybe 100 ft all the dash lights came on started flashing and chimming. Engine also reved up which was crazy I was terrified of rear ending someone. I hit brake but it kept doing it. Ive had two different shops run a scan and they say too many codes to know. And tell me to take to dealership. I bought car brand new back in 2012. I just need to know what to do now?? the speedometer went to zero and cold hot hand went to c its like the computer wasnt sending messages to the proper places.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2022

My head rest restraint deployed overnight whole the car was sitting in my driveway. I see multiple complaints of this and reached out to a dealership/Chrysler corporate and they said I have to pay for it out of pocket. They said the warranty for it was extended but I never received a notification of it being an issue or a warranty. The car was purchased in 2017 and had 2 recall, I took it to a dealership within a month and they said the recall was fixed. However less then 5 years later my head rest restraint deployed on it's own, there was no collision to my car while it sat in my driveway.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2022

While driving along a 40mph street, the convertible top started to pop open, causing me to have to grab it and pull it down, almost causing me to hit the curb, and having to hold it down until I got home. The instrument panel reading said "convertible top malfunction" and "top not secured". After calling a repair facility, I was advised how to get the top to re-latch closed, but now the top will no longer work, and I'm still not sure that although closed, that the top still isn't locked shut.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2022

Numerous problems with vehicle refusing to start when ignition switch turned on. The dealership could not find a problem. The vehicle then ran for a period of time without additional issues. In April of 2022 the problem resurfaced. After trying for two days to start the vehicle, it started and I took it to a Chrysler dealership. The mechanic indicated the car needed a new starter. The starter was replaced on 4/20/2022. On 5/10/2022 the dealership inspected the vehicle and did an oil and filter change. No problems were found. On 5/13/2022 I was driving and the vehicle suddenly stopped in traffic and would not restart. Thankfully, a crash was avoided when the vehicle suddenly stopped in heavy traffic. The automatic windows and door locks still worked even though ignition would not engage. The vehicle had to be pushed out of traffic and was towed to a dealership. The mechanic listed the following: asd main sense circuit; generator field control /circuit; engine oil pressure sensor circuit low; starter control 2 circuit open-pulled vehicle in found starter was not engaging-tested both power feed lines. The repair quote was in the thousands of dollars. I have gotten rid of the car and I am purchasing another make of vehicle.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2021

I keep getting airbag icon airbag error message. I was instructed by insurance to run VIN to see if there has been a recall upon running VIN I was notified there was 3 recalls listed for VIN.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2021

My wife was driving our 2012 Chrysler 200s with the 3. 6l pentistar engine and the engine shut off while she was driving on 03/09/2021 and I came and got her and we tried to restart the car and all it did was crank until the car timed out and no start and the next moring the car started up just fine with no lights on in the dash and this is the 5th time the car has done this and I have researched the problem and its one of two things a pcm udate or a connector to the tipm or fuse box and I want to know why ther is no recall for this and why Chrysler only recalled the 2015 model 200.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2020

I have replace the air actuator door twice what seems to be the problem with this he keeps breaking making a clicking sound.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2020

Transmission is going after just 8 years old!!!!!.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2020

The car consistently stalls out at least 4-6 times a trip in the middle of driving, if not more. It also honks on its own during that time. It was brought to the dealership and a shop and they couldn't find anything wrong.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2020

Head rest on the front passenger side deployed on its own. Looks like the peace of plastic that held the head rest together broke. This was plastic on metal rod. At the time when this happen no one was sitting on the sit. We would of had a very bad head injury if someone would have been there.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2020

While driving car shut off. Also windshield wipers not working properly.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2020

A recall was issued by the manufacturer for the emissions system and we brought the car in for repair. We we're told that the parts were on back order and we would have to have it done later. Now, seven months later. Upon contacting the dealership, they have the vehicle listed as complete without any repairs.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2020

Drivers side head rest deployed while vehicle was parked, it is very fortunate that this happened while no one was sitting in the chair at that time. My question is, will this also happen with the drivers side head rest?.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2020

The window controls on the drivers door stopped working. None of the windows will roll down. The car was not in motion or in any accident, they just stopped working.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2020

I think my car has electrical issues window start and stop working . I replaced a headlight and it starts and stops working at one point my started stopped and started working. My headrest deployed on passenger side while driving and it's a big space now on it.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2020

On 1/12/2020 while driving home from work I turned on my right turn signal to merge and it rapidly clicked and flashed on the dash after the initial 3 normal flashes and I noticed the car in the lane next to me wasn't acknowledging my turn signal. Once home an hour later, I realized my passenger rear tail light was steadily light (not flashing) even though my car was off and my lights were not engaged and position off. I could not get my turn signal/tail light to turn off. The brake lights work fine when the brake is applied but the tail lights will not turn off. The rear signal won't work either since the light won't turn off to flash. I had to remove the light from the rear fender and unplug the light so my car won't die and plug it back in when I go to drive so I atleast have the tail and brake light on while driving. I can find no info on how to fix this and Chrysler wasn't any help. The problem is still unresolved, but it did go off for just one moment, flickered and came back on when I plugged it back in the last time I drove.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2020

The abs and terrain lights stay on, when car reaches 60 mph it pulls.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2019

No heat . Heater core and radiator had to be replaced by Chrysler dealer at a cost of $1600. 00. Had extended warranty but would not cover cost. I understand from the dealer that this a major ongoing problem with this model of vehicle but Chrysler has refused to acknowledge responsibility only advice on how to repair.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2019

Heater core. . . Do not purchase this vehicle. Don't take my word for it, research reviews of Chrysler's negligence with many makes & models for their ineffective heater core. The cost to fix is not cheap (I can show receipt) very few shops will work on heater core for this car. Car has a serious issue with heater core, & I do not want to even give my story as I would just become even more infuriated. Ashame no lawsuits have been successful against Chrysler. It's bad enough these idiots designed a vehicle you have to take off entire bumper for to change headlight bump (which cost double the amount of the already expensive bulb). Worst purchase ever made, Chrysler could give me a car for free & I would refuse to to keep it at this point. Never ever again. Just say no to Chrysler.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2019

Differential exploded while pulling away from a curb into the road, no traffic, no excess accelaration.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2019

The catalytic converter was changed on tues. , July 30, 2019 as the result of a recall notice from Chrysler. Was told after the replacement was done that I would smell burning a little for about a week until the new converter was broken in. I did smell this while driving. It was driven the following day for a total of approx. 80 miles. My lungs were affected badly. Brought it back in to the shop (Chrysler certified) next day, but no problems found. Drove it one more day, but the pain in my lungs increased. Since then, have not driven the car. Was diagnosed by a doctor with asthma and put on a steroid inhaler. Never had lung problems previously. Chest x-ray and pulmonary tests normal. Chrysler wants me to bring it to another certified shop for review, but it is far and would require towing. Since then having a lot of pain in my lungs 3 weeks later. I believe it is because of the new catalytic converter.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2019

My Chrysler 200 died while driving--still had power, but engine died. The first time,6/8/19, we thought it was a cam sensor-that was the code it threw at the mechanic. We replaced it. Then the battery light came on. The battery was good, but the alternator wasn't-so we replaced the alternator. Drove it for 2 days & it died again, 6/16/19. Took it back & the same cam sensor code is popping up but sensor is still good. Got it back, drove it another 2 days & it died again, 6/22/19. Towed it back to shop & mechanic cannot duplicate the problem after a week. Have it back 1 day & car dies again, 6/29/19. Several complaints here mention the car engine dying for no reason, but still have power. We've been lucky-we haven't been on a highway when it's died. Each time, we've been driving around the city & making a turn & the traffic flow has been slow. Sometimes we've been at a complete stop-others we have not. Being that this seems to be a repetitive complaint, why hasn't a recall been issued on the vehicle??.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2019

Sudden stall on the highway, completely died on the slop of the beginning of the bridge on April 4,2019 and April 11, 2019.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/30/2019

Catalytic conventor isn't ready to pass inspection, I seen some possible recalls for fav but haven't received a notice. . .

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2019

2 complaints/concerns: 1) this affects the 2012 Chrysler 200 I purchased used with 62,500 miles. It's been well documented all over the internet and at Chrysler dealerships how the 2012 Chrysler 200 was part of a group of vehicles with faulty antifreeze from the factory. This antifreeze breaks down and will clog the heater core, radiator, and transmission oil cooler. The recommended repair, from Chrysler, is to replace all of these listed parts at a cost of about $2500. 00. Chrysler knows about this problem, but refuses to do anything about it. My car is at a Chrysler dealership as we speak having these repairs made. 2) this one I have not experienced, but I also see a large number of reports where the pentastar v6 equipped in a number of these vehicles will suddenly shut off. Many of these cases are when the cars are in motion. This is a serious safety concern. Issue seems to be centered around a pcm, but there is no recall of any kind on this.

29 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2019

While driving 45 mph on a highway, my car just died. The speedometer fluncuated, all lights flashed on and off, then just died completely.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2019

My horn started honking on it own. I first noticed it when I was outside the car and had not touched it, the horn started honking. I got in the car and it stopped. Every time I drive the car the horn honks on its own, sometimes long honks other times brief. The next thing it started raining and the wipers would not work properly they would swipe halfway and stop, only working when on high. Finally I was driving home and the car stopped in traffic. I sat for a few minutes and started it and it would stop after moving for about an inch. The car stopped three or four times and finally I was able to drive the 2 or 3 miles to my home and park.

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2019

The passenger side heater and defroster stopped working. It is a known heater core issue caused by faulty coolant causing sludge build up in heater core. Mechanics know of this, Chrysler knows of this. Without a fix the windows can struggle to maintain visibility, and maintain heat levels. The fix is to replace the heater core and/or radiator. . 32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2019

While driving the car down the road randomly shuts off and when it happens you have no steering control or braking control.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2019

The heater on my 2012 Chrysler 200 convertible does not work. The air blows, but it is not warm. I do not have that problem on the driver's side. My dealer tells me I need my heater core, among other things, replaced, which will cost approximately $1500-$2000. . In researching this problem, I find it's the number one complaint with this make and model. My car currently has approximately 80,000 miles on it.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/09/2018

The heater on the passenger side of the car is not heating up and blows very cold air making it hard to defrost the window to see when driving.

35 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2018

I was driving on the expressway and my car died without any warning. I brought it to the dealership and they said I had oil in the injectors. They cleaned it up and sent me on my way for $715. Not even a month later I'm still having the same issues and now sometimes it's not starting. So another repair shop changed the battery and starter, after the work they run some tests and say that I have a bad tipm to bring it back to the dealership. I bring it back to them and they want around $1800 now for this repair. I called Chrysler and spoke with them about this and they refused to help in any way with this situation even though we are loyal Dodge family customers(on our 5th vehicle). The reviews online show many people having this issue and it is a very dangerous and scary experience having your car die in the middle of the expressway with no power steering. I definitely think there should be a recall for this part to save the lives of others on the roadways. Thanks in advance.
