The automobile will shut down when driving uncommanded, when it does this you lose power steering and braking and sometimes locks the steering wheel. The horn sounds uncommanded randomly. The windshield wipers will intermittently not work. Have researched the problem and have found this issue is common, with this year and make of vehicle. I have contacted the manufacturer and they have been no help. They state they know there is an issue but they do not have parts to fix the issue. When it shuts down you do not get any lights or notice on the dashboard. This puts the driver and passengers at risk and other drivers. The manufacturer stated on the phone its basically my problem and since they do not have parts to repair it I'm on my own, on finding the part, most likely refurbished.
The car would slow down out of no where there time when the car doesn’t go over 5 miles per hours and throws it self in park some times my door wouldn’t open with the bottons can’t open my truck.
While driving this vehicle the car would shut down while driving, no ability to brake, to steer. The car would start back up, but the same issues would happen, making it extremely dangerous to drive. This happened on several different occasions. One of my issues with this problem is that Chrysler had the same issue with the 2015 Chrysler 200 and the 2015 was recalled. If you look at sites other than Chrysler, customers had reported the same problem with the 2014 and it looks like Chrysler just swept it under the rug. The dealership is saying that the tipm system needs to be replaced on my car, for a cost of $3000. 00 for a know problem.
The contact owns a 2014 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph on the highway, the vehicle stalled, and the vehicle turned off independently. The contact was able to coast over to the right side of the road, and attempted to restart the vehicle, and the vehicle started as intended. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to aaa where it was diagnosed and determined that the totally integrated power module (tipm) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the horn was connected to the module. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 106,000.
Horn didn’t work and car stalled in the middle of highway. Part (clock spring)inside horn was replaced but horn still went off by itself or didn’t work. Entire fuse box ( integrated power module)that controlled horn replaced to solve problem. It has been determined that this was also cause of car stalling out.
The contact owns a 2014 Chrysler 200. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shut off inadvertently. The contact stated that the vehicle shuddered prior to shutting off independently on some occasions. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The contact stated that he turned off the vehicle, opened and closed the front driver's side door to ensure that the electronical system was turned off. The contact stated that he was able to restart the vehicle within 15 minutes. The contact stated that on some occasions, the vehicle struggled to restart and would shut off again. The vehicle was taken to autozone, where the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, where an unknown sensor was replaced; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the contact stated that the honk would engage independently. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring increasingly. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
As I was driving down the busy highway my car shut down completely. Steering wheel locked, car turned off and brakes locked. This is very dangerous. I could of gotten in a horrible car accident. When mechanic checked it out he said there was nothing wrong with it and that there was a recall on this vehicle. I have been check and it says no recalls.
Vibrating/shaking while at stop/rest shuts off starts back up no warning lights no speed above 30mph noise I can hear inside vehicle as well as acceleration makes rattle noise.
My Chrysler 200 has been experiencing intermittent power loss and stalling. When driving the engine plus electrical power shuts down which leads to a loss of power steering. This situation almost caused a accident while on the freeway. In my research I have found many others who have the same complaint. The electrical system on this make/model has a very bad rating on NHTSA website.
My wife and daughters almost died in a car accident due to the apparent failure of this vehicle. We were driving on an hwy at night and the car just died out of nowhere. Dash started to flash and just died. We initially thought that it was the mechanic that had just fixed the car but after an investigation concluded that it was not anything they could have done. My family sustained life-threatening injuries and almost did not make it out alive as thee were rear-ended by a truck. Then on top of it when they were hit no airbags deployed which is what caused the injuries to be so much worse. After reading multiple complaints on NHTSA about the same issue for the same year and make I am baffled that this issue has not been addressed. I almost lost my family.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Chrysler 200. While driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle started to lose power, the electric lightning bolt warning indicator illuminated, and the vehicle lost acceleration. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road, turned on the hazard lights, and drove home at approximately 1 mph. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 69,000.
After only 3 years the totally integrated power module failed on my 2014 Chrysler 200. It's a $1,400 fix. For a major system to go in 3 years has to be a manufacturer defect and they should held liable for it.
The contact owned a 2014 Chrysler 200. While driving in the rain, the speed was unknown because the speedometer failed. The contact rear ended the preceding vehicle that had stalled and there were no warning indicators illuminated. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained a fractured right hip, bruising, lack of motion in the right wrist, a fractured left pelvis, bruising to the left knee, and severe bruising to the chest from hitting the windshield. Medical attention was received. The vehicle was towed to superior towing company (2385 sw 66th terrace, davie, FL, 33317) where is was declared totaled by the insurance company. The contact stated that she never received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v668000 (air bags, seat belts) and was not made aware of the recall notification until July 19, 2017 after searching online. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.
Takata recall when ignition turned off keep getting alert saying that key is still in ignition causing my electrical system to fail. It is not allowing me to readjust mirrors or anything. Any electrical connection isn't working due to error message saying key is still in ignition. I locked my keys in the car several times due to this issue and I am afraid to drive far due to the electrical failure please look into this. The vehicle was running when the electrical failure began and I was over 300 miles away from home.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Chrysler 200. On several occasions, while driving, the headlamps failed without warning. The contact stated that the high and low beam headlamp bulbs had to replaced on several occasions due to insufficient illumination while driving at night. The vehicle was taken to stateline Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram (located at 800 gold hill rd, fort mill, SC 29708, (877) 679-4176) where it was diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced due to cell damage. Also, the thermostat and thermostat housing needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired, but the failures recurred several times. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.
Takata recall. . . I haven't experienced any accident's and I pray I don't, however I do not feel safe at driving this car knowing the defects that can possibly go wrong in it. I have kids that are my main priority always in the car with me and I'll hate to be in an accident and these defects take place this is not a chance I'm willing to take since I've found out these issues. As of now I'm showing that there is no resolution for the issues so I'm wanting to see about trading this vehicle in ASAP.
Locks don't work. Have to use the key fob to lock and unlock them, even then they will lock and unlock several times even though I only pushed the button once.
Dashboard electrical system goes haywire and windshield wipers will not disable/turn off.
While driving down the highway, I had my check engine light and then a short time later my abs light come one. My car lost power and even though you press gas pedal the engine decelerates like it is trying to shift into super low gear but not sending any power to transmission which acts like it is totally slipping (it is electronic too)! I almost got hit 4 times before getting to side of road. I shut it down. It then re-started after 5 minutes and ran fine for 5 minutes before starting the cycle again but luckily I was on the back streets and not the highway. Chrysler needs to address this before someone gets killed!.
The tire sensor (tpms light) for my passenger side, rear tire always says the tire pressure is low as well. It will say the tire is low, and it's always only this tire. I check the pressure with a hand gauge and all is fine. This vehicle obviously has some sort of electrical issue. I have had mulitipule issues with this car in the 19 months I have had it!.
An electrical fire severely damaged my vehicle. The fire started while the vehicle was being driven. At the time of the fire no accessories were plugged in to the 12v power port. To the best of my knowledge the only accessories that were being used at the time of the incident were the a/c and the radio. The fire was extinguished by a homeowner, but the vehicle sustained heavy damage to the instrument cluster between the front seats. The car is still covered under the full manufacturers warranty, but at this point I am being told that this is not considered a warranty issue because they can not prove that the fire wasn't started by a device plugged into the 12v power port.
Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a loss of electrical power while being operated at various speeds. The contact also stated that vehicle intermittantly experienced trouble starting. The air bag, and service shifter warning indicator illuminated. Clovis Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram located 395 west herndon Ave, clovis, CA was contacted however the failure could not be notified. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000. Kh.
I have taken my car into the dealership to address the constant squealing of the brakes and the emergency brake indicator light randomly turning on. The dealership said there was nothing wrong with the brakes or the electrical system. The brakes are so loud and noisy that people can hear my car coming from far off, they sound like I own an old beat-up vehicle that has never been serviced. This car is brand new and should not be so embarrassingly loud each time I hit the brakes whether it's at a slow creep or on the highway. The emergency brake indicator light on the dash is also very concerning. At first the indicator light for the emergency brake would come on at the top of any hill or incline, like at the top of a ramp to enter the freeway. Now, the indicator light for the emergency brake randomly comes on at least once a day. I am afraid that one day the vehicle will try to engage the brake itself, or that my car will lock up while I am driving fast down the highway. The emergency brake has never been engaged manually by me except when I park at locations where I use the e-brake as a safety precaution. This should not happen while driving and especially if I haven't touched it. The dealership says there is nothing wrong, I beg to differ. The tire sensor for my passenger side, rear tire always says the tire pressure is low as well. It will say the tire is low about once a month, and it's always only this tire. I check the pressure with a hand gauge and all is fine. This vehicle obviously has some sort of electrical issue and the brakes are just horrid!! I would love to get rid of this vehicle but unfortunately with it being so new I am far from being able to do so. What a disappointment Chrysler!!.
The contact rented a 2014 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while traveling at 70 mph, the contact moved her leg and accidentally hit the ignition and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle using the cruise control. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown. Updated 09/16/lj.
The contact owns a 2014 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that the vehicle's suspension was unstable. The vehicle coasted from left to right intermittently. In addition, there was a short in the instrument panel, the gauges flashed repeatedly, and the abs sensor illuminated intermittently. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failures. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000.
As I start to slow down my brake light comes on and a bell rings. The brake light will remain on for about a half mile and sometimes longer.
