2 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2019

Vehicle speed control. I've reported this before and Chrysler insists our vehicle does not have this problem nor it is included in the recall. Problem always occurs while speed control is on and going downhill. The rpm's will increase significantly in an apparent attempt to slow down the vehicle by shifting down to way too low of a gear. Often rpm's will race near 5000+ and the scariest part is when you apply the brakes the speed control does not release. I have been the one driving when this has happened on half a dozen or more times. Recently my wife was driving alone and experienced this problem and didn't know what to do when she quickly approached a slow moving vehicle and the speed control would not release. She has bladder issues and pee'd her pants, literally. Luckily she has been in the vehicle before when this has happened and she thought quickly to move the vehicle into neutral and applied the brake which released the cruise control and allowed her to get her composure back. It was a close and scary call for her. Again, we have reported this several times and there is a recall for this exact problem and chrylser says our car does not have the problem and is not included in the recall, which is a simple software upgrade which they have and doesn't cost them much for the dealership to apply. The last time this happened was just a few weeks ago Saturday late afternoon may 18, 2019.

3 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2019

While driving with cruise control engaged going down a steep hill the vehicle accelerated and would not down shift. I had to stomp the break to get the vehicle to slow down. Cruise control would not disengage from steering column. Cruise control was set at 60 mph and speed increased to 75 mph.

4 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2019

While driving with cruise control engaged going down a steeper grade on I-81 the vehicle accelerates and will not down shift. I have to stomp the brake or cancel cruise control to get the vehicle to slow down. Cruise control would not disengage from steering column. Cruise control was set at 65 mph and speed increased to ~75 mph. This happens at this same point on the highway every time I go thru there. Scary!!!!.

5 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2019

Takata recall I have had my Chrysler 2015 200 for 3 years and since I've had my car it has always had an issue with accelerating on its on. It accelerates when you tap the breaks and it will accelerate on its on taking it off cruise control as well. So last week my car was being driven on the highway and the car was put on cruise control going about 60-65 mph then once the brake was tapped to slow down the car began to lock up and accelerate up to 90 mph. Then after the car picked up speed the whole car locked up steering wheel would not turn or anything and the car ended up hitting a wall. The state of what cause the issue is unknown, however I think this issue should be taken further for an investigation.

6 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 12/10/2018

Vehicle abruptly stalls and will not shift while driving. The speed of the vehicle will increase while on cruise control.

7 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. While driving various speeds, the vehicle accelerated independently. The contact stated that the cruise control had not been engaged at the time. A local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure was intermittent. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000.

8 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2018

I made a complaint about this exact issue last summer (2017) regarding my vehicle speeding up on its own and the cruise control getting stuck and being difficult to disengage. I wanted Chrysler to buy the vehicle back because I was concerned for my safety but my claim was denied. Now I have been told by this organization (NHTSA) that some 2015 Chrysler 200 vehicles are being recalled for this exact issue that I previously complained about. I contacted Chrysler and assuming I would be able to get it repaired. I was by two separate Chrysler employees that my VIN is not included in the recall. Even though I previously complained about the exact same problem, they said I would have to go have my car checked and pay for any repairs on my own. I will be making another formal complaint and requesting again that Chrysler buy back this car because its is beyond ridiculous that I would have to pay for repairs that they admit need to be done on some of the vehicles. If its a software issue, it seems to me that all of the cars would need the repair since they all have the same software.

9 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2018

Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200 c. The contact stated that they were driving at an unknown speed. They pressed on the gas and the car went in reverese. The contact slammed on breaks extrmely hard more than once. The car finally stopped. Before the contact could place in drive the car just shot off and accelerated into traffic rapidly. The contact then slammed on brakes again harshly and speed through a gap of two vehicles. The cruise control is also failing as well. No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not towed. It was taken to Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge ram 24 (781) 961-1550 1020 belmont st, brockton, MA 02301 where it was diagnosed. The mechanic there informed them that the transmission was bad and needed to be replaced. They also informed the contact that the failure was not their problem. The manufacturer was not informed. The failure mileage was 11,000. Jw.

10 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

I've experienced air bag service warnings along with service parking brake warnings and service and. At one point I was on cruise control goj g 65 mph when all of a sudden all the warnings came on at once and my car shifted itself into neatral and then loss power for a second. Luckily no one was behind me. I never received a notice of this recall but when I looked it up there was in fact a recall.

11 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2018

On multiple occasions I have been driving down the road and my car shifts very hard and has made grinding noises. Not only that but ever since I have bought it, it shifts like a rubber band being pulled back and makes you lunge forward. I believe I have taken it in 3 times now and with no resolution. The first time I took it in they had a service rep ride with me to see what I was feeling. He personally said that it wasn't shifting correctly and so they kept it. When I picked it up they informed me they did not find anything wrong with it but re-programmed it. As I left the dealership it shifted worse than before. I then called and complained and they said it was normal, on my way back home it was consistently shifting rough. I finally just pulled over shut the car off and started it up again. After doing so it shifted smoother but worse than it did before. On a separate occasion I was driving down the highway at a speed of 70 mph set on cruise when I tried to disengage the cruise control function and it would not disengage! I was going from a highway to a speed limit change and could not get it. Luckily I have read about this happening and shifted it into neutral and I was able to disengage it after that.

12 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 08/28/2017

Vehicle wouldn't accelerate when pedal was pushed, then jerked and took off. Vehicle began accelerating quickly while in cruise control mode. Started having problems with the push start button, wouldn't not do anything when pressed.

13 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

On 1 may 2017, I was driving my 2015 Chrysler 200 to work. I was cruising at 67 mph on the 4 lane highway in busy morning traffic. The car suddenly accelerated from 67 mph to 70 mph then to 74 mph within a few seconds. I cancelled cruise control but the car stayed at the accelerated speed and I had no control over the car at that time. I tapped the brake with no response; then I tapped the accelerator and finally regained control and was then able to brake and slow the car down. When the car was accelerated to 74 mph, I had no control and I could hear that it was winding and trying to shift to the next gear but it seemed stuck at 4000 rpms. This was a very scary experience. I will not allow my daughter to drive the car anymore. I also am afraid to drive it myself. It's a fairly new car and I have already gone to the dealership 2 times prior to this event because the car also suddenly accelerates when I take my foot off the accelerator attempting to brake. On a daily basis, I can feel the car speed up when I take my foot from the accelerator to the brake. This sudden surge could easily cause a fender bender. Each time I went to the dealership for this issue, they could not find anything wrong. When I called Chrysler about this event on 1 may, I was offered assistance in getting it diagnosed again, but I have already done that and see no need since on both occasions they could not find anything wrong. I hope they buy this car back as I don't feel it's safe to trade in plus I am "upside down" so I would still be paying for it even if I traded it. I hope Chrysler does the right thing by myself and others who are having problems with these vehicles because they are unsafe and unpredictable.

14 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2016

The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the instrument panel gauges and lights suddenly began to flicker before the vehicle suddenly shut off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the pcm wiring harness was replaced. The failure reoccurred where the vehicle began to jerk and stall after depressing the brake pedal. The contact also indicated that while driving approximately 65 mph while the cruise control was activated, the driver was unable to immediately deactivated the cruise control. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was unable to be duplicated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 30,000. Djr.

15 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2015

This is a recurring problem. It has happened more than 5 times. While increasing or decreasing speed on the adaptive cruise control system using the steering wheel buttons, the adaptive cruise control is disabled and the car screen alerts the driver that adaptive cruise control is unavailable. The dealership has looked at the car twice. The second time, they replaced the computer module for the acc. This did not fix the problem. This can happen on highway, on city roads, while going fast, while going slow. Vehicle is always going straight, not turning, as it is unsafe to adjust the controls in a turn.

16 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2015

When using cruise control it will not hold speed going down hill - will shift down more than once & will go up to 60+ miles per hour. Going over a small hill will shift down more than once usually - not all the time. This has been flashed several times with no change to the problem. When first starting the car the tach stays very high & will decrease as you shift into reverse, but not enough. Have to hold your foot on the brake all the time. When leaving from a stop sign the transmission will not go "in" right away - it takes a bit to actually "go". . As you're pulling onto a highway.

17 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2015

1) power train-while traveling on interstate at 65mph the transmission pops out of gear. I had to pull over put the car in park and then back to drive before it would go. It also happened when I was pulling away from a stop sign making a right turn it popped out of gear and wouldn't go. I drifted to the side of the road stopped, went to park and back to drive. The car acts confused form time to time. From a stop position at take off the transmission jerks and then thumps before it goes into gear. 2). Cruise control- traveling down interstate in the mountain region of n. Georgia, my cruise was set for 55mph. The cruise picked up speed up to 70 mph then the car started jerking very confused at what it was suppose to be doing. The brake wouldn't release the cruise control. I did get it released once the rpm's settled down. It has happen several times at various locations in the mountains and on flat ground. 3) the head lights are the worst lights I've ever seen on a car. When going down the road you may have 30 ft. That you can see in front of you. When going up and incline what so ever. Your visibility from the headlight is approximately 20 foot in front of you. Terrible headlights. Its scary going up any incline not being able to see what's 25 foot in front of you. All of these issues have been reported at my dealership. All of these issues have happen on more than one occasion.

18 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2015

The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. While driving at an unknown speed with the cruise control activated, the vehicle rapidly shifted from 8th to 7th, then back to 8th ,7th, 6th, and down to 4th gear, all within ten seconds. On another occasion, while driving approximately 20 mph, the accelerator pedal was released and the vehicle accelerated independently. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 8,500.

19 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2012

While in cruise control, the car topped a hill and began a long, rather steep descent, gaining speed as it went. The cruise control was set for 60 mph and when the car's speed had increased to about 66 mph, the transmission downshifted and the engine raced to almost 6,000 rpm. I became flustered, took my attention from the road and began search the information display for problems. Finally I began to brake and slowed down to about 45 mph before the car began to act normal again. Dealer said I must have touched the "sport mode" shift paddles (standard on the 200c). I verified that these paddles are needlessly active even when the transmission shifting nob is in the d position and not in the "sport mode" and are extremely sensitive to the slightest touch, causing the vehicle to downshift unexpectedly. Dealer claimed there was nothing he could do about the issue!.
