Takata recall. The airbag light keeps coming on and off on the dash, sometimes when I go to break. I have had it tested to make sure what it is. I was told by stark's it is a sensor in my headrest that is part of the airbag system, if it is on and I have a wreck they will not deploy. Started in may and is still going on.

49 Front Seat Head Restraint problem of the 2012 Chrysler 200

50 Front Seat Head Restraint problem of the 2014 Chrysler 200

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

I was alone in the car, driving on the freeway, when I heard a startling bang that came from the front passenger side. I saw that the headrest on the front passenger seat had deployed while I was driving. When I got home, I noticed several small pieces of black plastic on the front passenger seat cushion. Upon examining the headrest, it was obvious that the plastic which was supposed to hold a 2"-3" silver metal retaining rod had failed. That silver metal rod is still engaged in the electronic lock/release mechanism attached to the back of the head rest. The plastic pieces on the seat were from that rod retainer. I do not know if the heat of the arizona summers are causing the headrest plastic components to weaken. I also don't know if this was an isolated incident, or the beginning of a trend. I shudder to think what would've happened if it was the drivers headrest that failed, hitting me in the back of the head while driving at 65 miles an hour on the freeway. Unexpectedly getting hit on the back of the head while driving could result in a serious accident! my Chrysler 200 had 38,110 miles when this occured; it is barely out of warranty. The defective headrest is still installed in the car. It appears the Chrysler part number is 68065766aa; manufactured by grammer (in gernamy) and their part number is 1192441. Removing the headrests turn on the airbag warning indicator. As I stated earlier, I fear that the driver headrest may also fail at any time and results in a serious accident. I contacted Chrysler requesting both of these headrests to be replaced under warranty and am awaiting a response.

Failure Date: 05/03/2016

On the evening of may 3rd, 2016 I returned to my vehicle after work to find that the driver head restraint had been deployed for unknown reasons. Earlier that day I went to the bank all was well the head restraint was completely intact. At approximately 5:05pm I returned to my vehicle to head home and noticed that I could not rest my head as I do on a daily basis on my drive home. My concerns are that if I were driving in traffic or on the freeway and it unexpectedly deployed potentially causing an accident or worse due to a chain reaction. I immediately contacted the Chrysler recall center. Filed a complaint, issued a case number and was told that someone would be contacting me to investigate with a possible resolution. I have not been contacted as of 5/9/2016. I also followed up on the case Friday may 6th . The case number had not been assigned. I'm looking for a resolution as to why this happened unexpectedly and what if anything would be my options. If this has happened to other, this could potentially become a safety hazard.

Two weeks later I received a recall notice. 9/13/13 -- headrest replaced, scrubbing under car persists, front power outlet not operating again, car continues to hesitate during acceleration, brake not operating well and ticking under hood continues. Multi-point inspection complete no problem detected. 10/12/13 ? recall notice received via usps. I immediately reported to the hollywood service department and tech performed recall #n38 on active head restraints?reprogrammed computers for all headrests. Multi-point inspection performed car system running and battery strength is good. 11/01/13 ? car hesitating to start on occasions and front power outlet not working. Multi point inspection performed computer diagnostic shows no codes. 11/25/13 ? car was towed on Sunday, 11/24 because it would not start and power outlet blown again. Multi point inspection performed, battery replaced and power outlet fuse replaced. The reason given was the glove compartment light switch was defective.
