Wiper Problems of Chrysler 200 - part 1

The problem seems to be with the electrical system the tipm is malfunctioning. Wipers will stop midstream or run constantly, any time power is engaged in the car the wipers will begin to work whether the switch is on or off and regardless if the key is even in the ignition or not. Airbag lights are lit up, blinker switch will engage wipers to run.

Several times now while a heavy down pour is going on my wipers have either been choppy or completely stopped. This is an absolute problem and the motor has been tested as well as fuse. The next component would be the computer and I can not nor will I spend more money on this car. This is a safety issue I have seen in multiple Chrysler 200 forums online.

It happened to my wife with our three kiddos in the car, she was on the freeway doing speed limit 65 when the car just shut off going around a corner at night all of everything shut off including head lights, power steering, and moter it almost through her and kids off the road in the dark ,the wipers shut off whenever they want and the healights off and on without warning, the horn blows unpredictable like , eceleration from bogging down to super fast causes the car to swerve and jerk around unpredictabley the windows sometimes work and sometimes not, once in a while car wont start and or stalls while driving. I'm really worried and scared my wife and kids are going to get hurt or killed or hurt someone else because of these electrical issues. I was so happy to buy my wifey something nice ,safe and sound to drive kiddos back and forth and take me to work and back for it to only turn out super unsafe and unpredictable , we love our crysler 200 still but its unsafe and needs to be addressed as soon as we can before anyone gets hurt or killed, I'll do anything to get help with resolving this issue. It needs help that I cant provide, or afford I'm still happily paying for it crossing my fingers nothing else this scary happens.

Cv axle are wore out I couldn't drive turning an shocks wore out faster please help.

The contact owns a 2013 Chrysler 200. The contact stated while driving in a rain storm, the wind shield wipers started skipping and eventually stopped working. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. With the wipers on, all of a sudden, they will start to skitter across the windshield then stop and start again then speed up and slow down. If they are turned off the wipers will continue to run then finally stop halfway in the glass then finally goto the resting position. This occurs randomly at any time of year. I have had the wiper switch replaced hoping that the relay in the switch assembly was the issue but the problem still persists.

Heater core plugs from the dexcool braking down, then finally starts to leak causing lack of heat, eventually fogging the windows so you can't see causing multiple safety hazards. Common problem from what I see on line! you don't realize in summer when you buy the car till you go to use it in the spring and it's not covered under warranty!.

When I purchase the vehicle the airbag light was on and haven't went off yet and I had the vehicle since September 2020. Also when it rains for a long period of time and I use my wind shield wipers they will not go off I have to take the fuse out for them to stop for a couple of days. I've spoke with the place I got the car from and they started that the warranty doesn't cover the issues that the car previously had before I purchased it within the 30 days I purchase the car as well.

No heat coming out of passenger side vents and reduced heat coming out of driver side vents. I had the system reverse flushed and replaced with new coolant and did not fix the problem. This problem causes reduced visibility due to ineffective defrosting of windshield and side windows.

My power windows won't go up at times. When my driver side window rolls up then the passenger side window won't roll up and vice versa. When my passenger side window works fine the driver side window won't roll up. The electrical problem has caused my cigarette lighters and charger ports in my car to stop working! it happens whether sitting still or moving. The window wash that window cleaner comes out of keeps getting clogged.

My wipers have started to not exactly stop working but that stop then start up again when you try to turn them on as if they are glitching. Then my horn stopped working so I went to get my car inspected. The total integrated power distribution module was not working apparently, a $1300 fix. This car has been a pain. Have replaced part after part. Have had 3 recalls and truly believe this should be a recall due to it being such a dumb thing. Even the mechanic was like this is the most expensive fix for a horn that I've ever seen!!.

A follow up to add on to my initial complaint. I have a screenshot showing how dangerous this issue can become if not resolved. My wipers and horn are a safety concern since they aren't working due to a defective total integrated power module. Please advise before another Chrysler owner has the same problem and could possible harm themselves in a crash or others.

There was cold air coming out of the passenger side air vents. This would take a significant amount of time to defrost the windows. The air was about as cold as the static outside air temperature. The drivers side air would eventually heat up the entire windshield to safely drive. However, if it was below 20�f outside the drivers side heat would not be hot enough to keep the passenger side window defogged. This posed a lot of safety concerns cursing along the highway. Later, this was deemed to be a clogged/faulty passenger side heater-core which had to be replaced. After this was replaced the passenger side air is about as hot as the drivers side now. The defrost times are equal on both sides during cold starts and visibility is back to normal. The mechanic recommends doing an annual cooling flush to prevent the heater core from becoming faulty in the future. Although they said even that isn't a guarantee to solve the issue entirely. Apparently the heater core has a critical design issue.

The heater core become clogged preventing air flow, to defrost the windshield on the passenger side of the car. I even did the regular scheduled coolant flushes to prevent this from happening, and it still happened. It becomes dangerous as the vehicle heater core becomes so backed up that not even a full heater core flush can save it. I have read on line that this is a issue that happens to a lot Chrysler vehicles, and it sounds as if it has to do a lot to with the car was manufactured through the sand cast process. The car has overheated also has a hard time keeping the car warm because of the clogged heater core. This problem has effected many of the 200 vehicles , and im surprised that a resolve has not be brought out yet. , it almost got me in a accident on the turnpike because I couldn't defrost the windows.

While driving the vehicle in 30 degree weather, started smelling something very bad coming from hvac system and windows became very foggy. I had to roll the windows down with the defrost on in order to see. Vision was still impaired. After letting it sit, a film appeared on the inside of the windshield, which is hard to remove. Further impairing vision. Prior to this, heat on the passenger side stopped working so the passenger side of the windshield would not defrost quickly. Currently have it in the shop. They are guessing it's the heater core, a known issue with this vehicle. Estimated cost starting at $900.

The turn signal started working on its own and the wipers started working on there own then they just quit working.

Heater core clogged with gelled coolant, reducing ability to defrost /melt ice from windshield in freezing rain at all speeds. Online research shows gelled coolant affects many Chrysler cars, causing no heat, esp. On passenger side, no ability to melt ice, clogged coolant system, clogged t-stat (summer 2019) clogged oil intercooler (11/14/19) . This is the second time that cooling system had to be flushed since purchasing car on 8/4/18. Suspect specified hoat coolant causing problems in all Chrysler vehicles including avenger, charger (per service tech), pickups.

Windshield washer pump has no power at pump. Transmission shifts irradically on roads. Interior lights no power. Have been told be auto computer repair service that tipm is going out.

Atc temperature control unit is not sending power and ground to the left side blend door actuator, so the heat and defogger doesn't work causing it to be extremely difficult to near impossible to see the road when conditions warrant the defogger is needed. During adverse weather on 8/24 (unseasonably cool and raining in central nc), I could not see the road because the windshield fogged up and as noted, the defogger isn't working.

I was driving on the freeway and heard (and felt) a large boom! then the sound of wind. My sunroof shattered, leaving a huge hole in the center of the glass.

My horn started honking on it own. I first noticed it when I was outside the car and had not touched it, the horn started honking. I got in the car and it stopped. Every time I drive the car the horn honks on its own, sometimes long honks other times brief. The next thing it started raining and the wipers would not work properly they would swipe halfway and stop, only working when on high. Finally I was driving home and the car stopped in traffic. I sat for a few minutes and started it and it would stop after moving for about an inch. The car stopped three or four times and finally I was able to drive the 2 or 3 miles to my home and park.

Takata recall the wiper connector under the hood broke. I have had the car for 5 years brand new and ever other year something is breaking on this car. Why? my wiper sprayer does not work. I am disappointed by the money I have spent in paying the car note and replacing parts. In June of 2018 I had to replace the alternator. . . I work so hard to purchase a car that I can depend on for transportation for me and my children's safety, did I pick the wrong company for that. Thanks mrs. Borum.

The contact also noticed a fuel odor coming from the heating unit when it was activated. The contact called the dealer (barbera autoland, 7810 e roosevelt blvd, philadelphia, PA 19152, (215) 333-3700) and was informed that there was no recall. The contact was advised to call the manufacturer. The manufacturer agreed with the dealer and stated that there was an assistance program to help pay for the repairs, if the contact was eligible. The manufacturer advised the contact to call NHTSA. The failure mileage was 60,000.

The vehicle was taking to cobleskill Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram 5709 2444, NY-7, cobleskill, NY 12043(518) 234-4000 where the contact was informed that the heater core needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 152,000. Dr.

It has been shutting off during driving, and also reads codes of gas cap, but I thinks a sensor and also transmission sensors, does not want to start, says key fob not detected, and wipers do not go fast at all.

2012 Chrysler 200 convertible heat fails to defrost window causing total visibility loss and inability to see out of windshield. Lack of heat does not allow for safe operation of vehicle. This occurs when vehicle is running. The car can not warm up enough to defrost windshield. No heat coming from defrost or vents. Blows cold air. This occurs when driving or stationary. Can not see! dangerous!.

Known issue with heater core results in not only comfort issues, but driving hazard, as the defroster is also impacted. Heat does not flow from passenger side defroster, resulting in lack of visibility. This has happened more than one time while driving, including instances of total blockage of view on right side of windshield.

The defroster and heater only blow cold air, they no longer blow any warm or hot air, with the temperature controls on maximum heat. The heater core is blocked with sludge. When the car was manufactured, the coolant was mixed with a machining oil that is designed to plug any pinholes that develop in the radiator. Over time, this additive causes sludge to form in the coolant. That sludge blocks the heater core. Flushing the cooling system does no good. Chrysler has been advising dealership service advisors to replace the radiator, heater core, oil cooler, and overflow tank to solve the problem. This is common on 2012, 2013, and 2014 Chrysler 200's. The pictures I have attached show the sludge in the overflow tank that forms in the cooling system and blocks the heater core. The plugged heater core prevents the front windshield defroster from working, creating hazardous and dangerous blocked visibility with the front windshield fogging over, particularly during winter months. Additionally, snow or ice precipitation buildup on the windshield can not be melted while the car is being operated.
