Strong fuel smell in cabin and outside of car when gas tank is full. Discovered gas in the cabin sitting on top of the fuel tank under the passenger-rear seat. Multiple posts in online forums confirm this is a known issue. Vehicle owner ordered a new o-ring to attempt repair. Area around fuel pump under driver's-rear seat was not affected. No warning lights, notices or performance issues. Only indication is strong gas fumes in car after filling up the gas tank (auto shutoff at pump, not topped off) which persists for several days. Problem seems minimized if gas tank is shorted 2-3 gallons from max capacity on fillup (about 14 gallons when car is close to empty per the gas gauge in dashboard. ) car was not inspected by dealer, insurance agent, police, independent service center, or anyone else other than owner.
Our 2005 Chrysler 300 stalls and will not restart for many minutes after we refuel it. Chrysler stated they have extended the warranty to a life time coverage if you are experiencing this issue you are able to get it covered under said warranty. We have contacted them and they state this one is not covered. How can we go about getting this covered. It obviously has the issue they have recalled and should be covered!! thank you, shannon hainzlsperger.
I was driving down the road and my vehicle died. Now it does every time I come to a complete stop. The steering makes a clicking noise when I turn.
My 2005 Chrysler 300 has been having an issue with the fuel tank. When you get fuel in it then it won’t stay started. It keeps stalling out repeatedly. It also stalls out randomly under 25mph. Both are dangerous as it may cause you to get t-boned leaving gas station as it repeatedly stalls. Also it stalled out on the freeway on-ramp under 25mph. This is also dangerous as you lose your steering at the same time. Someone could have been injured or killed. And Chrysler needs to take this more seriously than they did just with the 2005 300c. It’s happening to more models of that year as well. Their offered remedy was telling me not to fuel it all the way up anymore past 3/4 of a tank. A dealership confirmed it needs a full fuel tank replacement and has had it since memorial day. They still have it currently. Chrysler told me and the dealership I’m on my own after treating me horribly most of the time on the phone calls with customer care center as I was jumping through hoops for them over and over for around 2 months. Whenever I get someone kind and helpful they won’t let me speak to them again. I have this all written down. And will get the estimate when I get my car back. But I don’t have $2800 ($2000 alone is just the fuel tank) to fix this on my own. Especially not when there is a known issue. Fuel tanks just don’t break and need full replacement as a common issue in vehicles. But Chrysler says my vehicle is too old. Which they knew the year of my vehicle when I called in the first place. And they know there is a known issue which is why they have lifetime fuel tank replacements on others of the same year. It’s too bad they weren’t pushed to do a total recall rather than just a safety bulletin. It left the rest of us that end up having issues with the fuel tanks in danger. It’s not just coincidental. It’s been acting up for awhile and I couldn’t find anyone that had ever heard of this until the Chrysler forums. It got worse in 2020 to present. Thank you.
I was driving slowly, under 10 miles per hour, when it just up and died on me. Tried to restart, but would not. Let it sit for 5 minutes, pushed the gas pedal and held it half way down and vehicle started. But would not idle. Tried to hold pedal and put it in drive. To limp it home, but died when engaging drive. Long story short, it wont start or run unless you give it gas, will not idle in park, neutral, reverse or drive, and there have been hundreds of complaints for this. That being said, I'm assuming someone has to die in an accident, maybe several lives lost before you decide to take this seriously. You people do realize what happens when an engine stalls while driving yes? loss of brakes for the most part, power steering, acceleration, the list goes on. . . Now put someone behind the wheel that doesn't know how to react. But I guess y'all missed that portion of the class, or you just dont give a shit.
Car shut off while driiving 30mph also with full will jerk and stall.
Stalls after getting fuel both stationary and in motion 109000 miles.
Chronic odor of raw fue both within and around the vehicle . . Difficult to isolate. When the vehicle is in an enclosed space the fumes are overpowering and extremely flammable. I have been able to identify the source to a connector on the fuel line. . This is clearly a poor engineering design which, while expedient in manufacturing is hazardous to owners as fuel is expelled onto the adjacent exhaust system.
After I fueled my vehicle my car stalled in the middle of road. . I had it towed to repair center but couldnt find the problem. . Luckily no one was behind me.

Stalls after refueling frequently creating a dangerous safety issue as it often occurs in traffic.
On sept. 28, 2015, the vehicle was being driven on a local road at approximately 45 mph. The following lights became illuminated on the dashboard, esp/bas and then the voltage or volt light came on and then the vehicle stalls out. The vehicle will restart . After getting the vehicle going again, it stalled out several more times including a major highway and crossing a bridge at 50 mph. The vehicle was taken to the Chrysler dealer and was there for a week and a half with nothing being diagnosed as a problem with it stalling out. The following codes were stored in the computer. P1618, p1628 & p0441. The vehicle did stall out four times while driving to the dealer. There was a near miss collision as I was almost rear ended when making a right turn to merge into a traffic lane. The vehicle stalled out and I had to drift to the shoulder.
The car stalled in the middle of the freeway while driving at 65mph!! it is a miracle no other car crashed into us and killed us. It also stalls on the streets and after filling it up with gas. Sometimes it starts up again and sometimes it doesn't. The car is a safety hazard to my son and me!! it is a 2005 Chrysler 300 2. 7l.
The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler 300. After fuel was placed in the vehicle, it stalled, jerked, surged, and stopped. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 80,000.
After refueling, the car started and then died. I restarted and then pulled away. It died again at the two following stops. It then died while driving down a hill at 15 mph. All of this occurred within 2 miles of refueling. The vehicle restarted following each event. After parking the car for several hours the problem was gone. A similar episode happened the next time I refueled as well.

Vehicle stalls repeatedly after fueling.
My daughter (12yrs. ) and I were on the freeway/car pool lane (double yellow lines) and the car stalled/turned off completely. I tried not to panic but I daughter did when the lights, engine and not to mention the steering wheel was very hard to turn. At this time I had to cross over the double yellow line and cut off a few cars who all most rear ended me, all cars honked at me and my little one was freaking out. It took 24 minutes to get off the freeway because it kept stalling and wouldn't continue to stay on. This is a very un safe situation, I pray no one gets hurt from this. Car continued to stall and turn off and at this time it's just sitting because of funds and just fed up with this car. . . . Not mention my parking lock mechanism broke last month and my engine blown due timings chain stretching. Had to rebuild the whole engine that cost me $5,000. 00, so you know at this time I will never purchase a Chrysler ever again. I new I should have stayed with Chevrolet! !!!!!!.

Every time I fill my car up to full, it will stall several times when driving or at a light. The stalls occur until the fuel level has dropped.
Once getting off the interstate and turning onto a frontage road, driving 35 mph my car lost power and stalled. I pulled onto the side of the road, turned my car off, and it turned back on. However, this problem has been occurring off and on since August 2013 (7-8xs). It most commonly stalls after filling up with gas. The steering wheel will often times become locked when trying to make a turn when the car stalls. The esp/bas light, check engine light, and a red light with a lightening bolt with vertical lines on each side of it (symbol not in Chrysler manual) all turn on when the car stalls. The car stalls 3-4xs before making it to the destination. I have brought my car in to an automotive repair shop 3xs and leave without any explanation of the current problem.
Bubbles in back left tire, wheel shaking, trunk closed on owners hand. The dealership hollywood kia did not take car back next day, we left keys with receptionist who refused to give a receipt, kept 2000 deposit and is selling the online for 2000 more than we paid. My name still on title.
Car has been stalling after every gas fill-up for the past couple of months unless I am traveling at a steady speed of over 20 mph for at least 15 miles after fill up. Stopping at a light or making a left turn and stalling out is a nightmare! it only happens after a fill up. At this point I try to guess at what point to turn off the gas when refueling to avoid this very dangerous condition.

There was a pending investigation for nearly a year now with Chrysler 300 2005-2006 stalling after fueling. Nhtsa closed it because Chrysler stated that they will extend lifetime warranty on the defective part. Chrysler isn't honoring this. Only certain VIN numbers for 2005-2006 models. Nhtsa needs to re-investigate this. Chrysler is not honoring the promise to get out of fixing a ton of potential recalls. Please help!.
