The shifter is stuck in park? this started off happening on occasion. But now has progressed to almost a permanent situation. This causes a hazard because in order to not being able to avoid being stranded. I have no choice but to leave the vehicle in neutral and put on the parking brake. Running the risk of the car rolling and causing a collision. Crysler needs to address this situation. As I'm aware that it's a defective plastic part causing this problem. It is also a problem that spans for several years of this shifting system.

2 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem

The transmission shifter lever was stuck in park and would not move. The dealer says I need a new shifter. This problem seems identical to recall k39 transmission shifter interlock lever but for some reason my car is not included in the recal. I suspect this is an oversight. I will updload the documentation from the dealer when I get it but at the moment the part is on back order.

Submission from re recall k39 and exclusions. The consumer stated he experienced the exact problem that was addressed in the recall where the gear was stuck in park. The consumer was informed his vehicle didn't have the mopar replacement part installed prior to June 24, 2007, and therefore the recall did not apply to his vehicle. The consumer would like Chrysler to acknowledge the defect and pay for the repairs. Updated 04/30/13.

Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Chrysler 300 touring. The contact stated that while parked and attempting to accelerate, the gear became stuck in park. The contact was unable to shift the vehicle in any other gears. The contact was able to resolve failure momentarily by removing the cover at the gear knob box and manually pushing the piece in order to move gear from park. The vehicle was not taken to a repair shop or dealer for inspection or repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and advised the contact that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 05v460000 (power train:automatic transmission). The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that when shifting into park, the gear shifter would become stuck. The contact’s personal mechanic was able to maneuver the vehicle out of park and into neutral, but the vehicle was only able to be driven in neutral position. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis and the technician on duty damaged the gear shift further. The technician then showed the contact how to maneuver the gear cables to be able to drive the vehicle without repair. The contact repaired the vehicle with parts purchased from a salvage yard. The failure mileage was 125,000 and the current mileage was 126,000.

2005 Chrysler 300 touring - gear sift gets stuck in park. Have had the dealer check to see if they can diagnose the problem everytime it goes in for service. Have had this fixed once over two years ago - dealer stated that they adjusted the linkage. It worked fine for a while have since moved to another city and go to a different dealer. New dealer has been able to recreate the problem once in their shop but after they had the interior apart hey couldn't get the car to do it again - so it has not been fixed. Car has 61,000 miles and has had this problem since 24,000.
