I purchased my vehicle used 2 weeks ago. Initially the vehicle was running fine until I filled it up with fuel. As soon as I pulled out of the gas station my vehicle started stalling as if I was losing power to my vehicle. After a few miles the stalling stopped. In the past few weeks the stalling has become worse every time I pump fuel. It shuts off if I'm idle at a light, it shuts off when I'm attempting to park, turn left, or in a drive thru. As soon as I would crank my vehicle up and go to accelerate the car won't move until after a few seconds and then it just jerks out before a smooth drive. Yesterday I took it to a Chrysler dealership because after informing the used car sales lot where I purchased the vehicle they couldn't find the issue and wanted to keep my car for a week. After 10 hours of trying to find the issue they stated there had been a recall on the fuel tank for 2006 Chrysler 300s. He said that should fix the problem and I should be on my way. So I was relieved to hear the great news coming from the Chrysler dealership. Well after heading home and 20 miles out from the dealership there goes the stalling again last night. My vehicle shut off at the light and again as soon as I attempted to park my vehicle in the driveway. In addition to the fuel system issue is causing another issue that I truly fee wasn't investigated thoroughly. I noticed a recall on 2006 Chrysler pacifica where the stalling was caused by the fuel system, tcm, and pcm module basically dealing with the power train and this is very highly the same issue going on with 2006 Chrysler 300. There should've been a recall on both and there isn't. This is very dangerous as when I stalled onto the freeway I was almost hit by an 18 wheeler truck on last week. The tcm and pcm codes along with the fuel system code were showing in the diagnostic issue yesterday. Help please.
Powertrain control module - vehicle has been at dealership for over 1 month with a bad pcm module. This is covered under the 8 year / 80,000 mile factory warranty. Chrysler is unable to provide the part to fix the vehicle. I was told that the part is on a "mega backorder" and it is one of the most common issues known with the vehicle. I was told there are over 75 vehicles that are currently on the waiting list for the pcm. Failure of the pcm causes the vehicle to begin idling roughly at random times. The throttle control and esp lights on the dash begin to flash. The car loses acceleration and you can not gain speed over about 20 mph. Eventually, the vehicle dies. If you take the key out, you can always start it again. Sometimes the vehicle will not make it 20 feet, and sometimes it will make it for 2 days without an issue. My vehicle failed on the interstate and I was put in a potentially life-threatening situation because I had no warning. I could now be without a vehicle for months due to the shortage of this part. Chrysler is now in contact with the vendor of the part to try to get an estimate of when the part will be made available. They are unwilling to assist me with a rental car, loaner vehicle, or vehicle of comparible value. I am very disappointed with this vehicle and the Chrysler corporation.
: the contact stated after starting the vehicle, the gear would only shift into second and then locked up. There was no warning signal prior to the incident. The vehicle was taken to 2 different service dealers on 4 occasions. The first dealer determined that there was a procedure in the owner's manual to address this problem. When the vehicle was in the cold limp mode, the contact was suppose to stop the vehicle and move the selector level to the park position, turn off the engine and wait approx. 10 seconds. After 10 seconds, the engine should be restarted and the shift lever should be moved to the desire gear. On the second visit to the previous dealer, the transmission control module was replaced. On the third visit, the problem could not be duplicated but codes po763 and po762 were identified by diagnostic testing. The codes were cleared and the vehicle was road tested. On the fourth visit, the vehicle was hooked up to a computer recorder underneath the dashboard and code po762 was found. During this period, the vehicle was in the cold limp mode but after the transmission was adjusted the vehicle returned back to normal. The dealer contacted onstar (for the navigational system) for the vehicle to be hooked up to the monitor - case#8547343 was provided. The manufacturer was notified and advised the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer, who removed and replaced the valve body. There was a NHTSA recall # 05v460000 pertaining to the power train: automatic transmission. The vehicle was not included in the recall due to the VIN.
