general problems of the 2006 Chrysler 300 - part 1

While driving at speed limit car dash lights all light up and car stops running. You loose steering, brakes all electrical lights. Car may restart and power restored and if not must stop car if possible to restart. Happens randomly! this is a continued problem. Has happened more than 10 times and seems to be having this problem more and more often. No one knows how to fix problem.

Car traction light pops on and the engine raves up high. I turned it off and pump brakes but it continues. When I backup traction pops on. I got coils and brackets put on prior to it doing this. If I lock the car door a lot of times I can't get in. I've called tow truck so many times. Even after replacing battery. Once it's opened with the jimmy and I crank it up. The key remote will work. When I try remote a few hours later it won't work. I don't leave important items in the car due to someone coming in my lot and rummaging through it.

I went to the gas station, 2-ish mile drive and came back home. About 20 minutes later we decided to go see my mother in law, 34 highway miles away. Cool, so we go, everything is fine, beastie (that's the name of my 2006 Chrysler 300), is running good, my husband and 3yr old are jammin out to metallica, and we get to my mother in laws house. . Stay a couple hours and decided to head home. . So we say bye ect ect. . We get about 9. 5 miles down our 34 mile ride home. . . Aww crap, there is a tractor on the road, so we go to pass him. . . Or so we thought. . . Make sure coast is clear, turn on blinker and step on the gas petal more firmly. . Ok in the other lane. . And bam!! car dies in motion at 60 mph!! my husband just casually says "hey babe, I think the car just died" and I look like "haha whatever" and I couldn't believe it. . So we pull over and try to get it started, had my mil come jump us. . An hour later and we still don't have beastie started. . No clicking, no nothing. . So unfortunately beastie had to sit on the side of the road until the next day. . . The next day we got her towed to my mils house. . . That was 3 days ago. . . And beastie still hasn't started up for me. . .

The manufacturer made the shift interlock latch out of plastic and it breaks when you put the car in park it will stick in park leaving you stranded.

Throttle pedal snapped by bolts when pushing to accelerate.

Vehicle intermittently stalls when slowing down to stop or slowing down to turn a corner. All power shuts down and check fuel light comes on. Check engine light does not come on. Has only happened with a partial tank of gas-never with a full tank - remaining mileage has been between 75 and 123 miles left. Has only happened at slow speed. Dealer has worked on it 4 times each time closing ticket as fixed except for the last time . Have talked to service director about problem with no results. Vehicle has 123000 miles.

I was going up a hill n didnt out of no where it started to sound the motor then more power I added the sound sound more loud n didnt wanna move, I stop to check n they to turn it on but it didnt want to work but at the end it did for 30 second.

The transmission gear shift lever interlock return spring hook on about 28,800 of the above vehicle broke. A broken interlock return spring hook will result in the inability to move the gear shift lever out of the �park� position. There is a recall for customer satisfaction notification k39 transmission shifter interlock lever for the following vehicle which is the same as mine but the "lx": 2005 - 2007 (lx) Dodge charger, magnum and Chrysler 300. Why does the same problem, with the same automobile, with the same year does not apply to a "sl"? how much do I have to spend to repair a manufacturing malfunction for something that should be a recall. I parked my car and on my way to work I could not move the gear, it stuck to p.

Broken transmission shift interlock latch. Failure of this poorly made plastic piece is very common in the Chrysler 300, and Chrysler should do a defect and recall about this problem. But, Chrysler does not sell this part alone, they sell the whole shifter box for over 200 dollars.

Shifter will not come out of park unless you pull console apart and physically push the spring under the front of the shifter with screwdriver. They have a recall on if not this part a very similar part between the years 2005-2007 which this clearly falls into but is VIN specific and they claim doesn't pertain to my vehicle. Funny it is bypassed identically to the people who the recall does cover. Clearly a known flaw by the amount of people complaining about it but they won't do anything. Car is stationary when this occurs.

Car was working find and then decided to go from 55mph to 25 mph on the bypass with no warning. Now it won't go pass 25 mph.

My car was stuck in park and would not move. The tow truck had to drag my car out of a parking space because it is rear wheel drive and shifter was locked and broken. I had to replace the entire gear shifter assembly costing over $500. 00. I have receipts and broken parts and Chrysler only has recalls for only certain years and VIN. #. Ridiculous!.

My vehicle suddenly shuts down after a short period of driving it has stopped several times in the middle of traffic and needless to say I was berated and once even threatened as several other vehicles could not pass this could cause an accident or someones life.

Car was working just fine. Parked it and came back to it to leave and it wouldn't shift out of park. No warning, no indication of a problem, and no loose or broken gear shift and in a split second, has left me stranded. Even though the k39 notification from Chrysler states that my year and make vehicle was included, they won't honor it under the recall because they said that it only covered 30,000 vehicles and my VIN wasn't included. I explained that this is happening to my vehicle too but they won't cover it.

Car has stopped while I was driving in a city street about 35 miles speed limit without warning. What worries me is that my 3 year old rides with me. I don't want it to cause an accident since I'm going the speed limit then all of a sudden it just shuts off causing me to stop at a halt. I haven't seen or received any recall about this that's why I'm reporting it. If you can please look into this everyone affected would appreciate it. I saw an online thread about similar complains. 2 lights also come on on the dash.

When driving my car to take my daughter to school in the mornings, when backing out of the drive way, coming to a stop at a stop light my car will completely shut off. When I start it back up and take off the car will sound like it will want to cut off again and start jerking. This is very unsafe. Someone can hit me from behind if car just stops in the middle of the road.

Wouldn't shift out of park. Had to get towed.

I own 2006 Chrysler 300; I keep in excellent condition. Yesterday 1/27/2017 the smoke was rolling from under the hood as driving; the power steering pump pulley was rubbing against the transmission lines.

The hose running from the transmission was too close to the belt and it rubbed it until it wore a whole affecting a whole shut down of the car.

Takata recall , security system shuts down car I was at the gas station and the security system shut the whole car down as well as the and a ignition repair the car blocked the remote key from starting it and just would not click when turning the key would not crank, lights stop coming on the only thing it would do is chime when the driver door was open and this happen to me on the way home from work on the high way , breaks when applying the emergency break the car still this happened when I parked in the drive way and the drive way is a little slope moves.

Vehicle would not go out of park. Vehicle was parked in our driveway. We were able to override the return spring with a screwdriver to get the vehicle out of park and to the garage and it was the transmission gear shift lever interlock return spring. The is a Chrysler k39 recall on 2005 to 2007 chrylser 300 but was told by Chrysler its VIN specific and our VIN doesnt pertain to the recall. I put in a complaint with chrylser and claim number is 29857913. I would like to see how I can get our vehicle added to the list of covered cars that have had the same problem. This was a costly repair and should be included in the k39 recall.

When by gas level gets to 1/4 tank or below and I refuel, the car stalls for a while and sometimes shuts off while I'm driving. This also happens anytime I fill up.

Car will not shift out of park and did my own research to find out it's common on Chryslers. Why hasn't this been recalled?.

I am unable to get the gear shift out of park. We have tried both of the shift override buttons and nothing is working. I just had the car at the dealership last week for the airbag recall as well as a couple of shock issues on the trunk and hood. They also replaced the power steering hose, as they said it was leaking. I drove the car home, parked it in the garage and now it will not come out of park. I can't help but think they messed something up when they replaced the power steering hose. The towing company (aaa) says they haul about 5 - 6 of this exact issue each month!.

Takata recall I was driving on the street when my car shut off on me I then attempted to turn the car back on and it wouldnt budge my dashboard lights flicker on and off I constantly had to get a jump untill it wouldnt want to power on anymore.

The vehicle stalls in motion and when at idle after I get gas. This happens every time now, since January 25, 2016 it did not happen before this date.

While driving in traffic my car loss power. Then again while driving in highway traffic at a speed of 60 mph the car loss power. When this happend I was able to pull off onto the side of the road. It was hard to steer because it had no power. I had to restart the car by turning the key on as if it had never been in the on position. Now this has happend three more times in the past week. I looked to see if there had been problems reported and I found that there was but not on the 2006 model. It is champaign #14v567000, electrical system ignition for models made may 31, thru may 12, 2007.

My 2006 Chrysler 300 stalls at random times. It has stalled while I'm driving over 45mph, around a curve, stopped at a light and driving slowly through a parking lot. It doesn't just stall, it stalls over and over again. When it stalled this morning around a curve, I had great difficulty controlling the steering so that I didn't go into the ditch or into an oncoming vehicle. This is extremely dangerous. I have read many discussions online about the Chrysler 300 vehicles stalling, and having no indication from dash lighting that it's going to happen. Technicians cannot find any apparent reason for the stalls because it does not show up as code when connected to a computer. This has been ongoing for 4 weeks and has gotten to the point that I no longer feel safe driving the car at all.

I can not get my car out of park I had it towed to Chrysler. I see that many Chrysler 300 have this problem but when I input my VIN. This is not showing as a recall for my car. I cannot afford to fix, why are some Chryslers covered but mine isn't !!! . . . . . They need to fix all since admittedly it is a problem pls help! geralyn morello.

Car was in the shop at the event time. I got called because my Chrysler 300 2006 would not move from park position. Will cost $435. 95 to replace the gear assembly. This happened while in their care. Called Chrysler headquarters and will not make it good on their end. Even as many 300's of 2006 have had this problem my VIN along with theirs is not listed yet they are all over the internet. 48000 miles about one owner me.

The car is stuck in park, had it towed to the dealership. They said this happens all the time and it's very common. They said it is the shift interlock switch, somehow not covered on the recall. $90 to tow and they say it will be several hundred to fix the tiny plastic part. Very unsafe.

Chrysler 300 ltd rwd 2006 stalls when car slows down. Have performed regular maintenance and had ignition switch replaced at dealership - car engine light comes on after it stalls, but when car is re-started, (which it does) engine light is no longer on - very dangerous to have no warning, just dies - car runs great when running, but quits suddenly when speed is reduced - do not want to own car anymore.
