Vehicle dies while driving and wile coming to a stop in town. No check engine light. No codes - took it in to the Chrysler dealership and they diagnosed a bad fuel tank. The inlet flapper on the fuel tank is defective allowing fuel to overflow the charcoal canister. This is the same problem as the 2005-2006 models that now come with a lifetime warranty on fuel tanks. I called Chrysler and they are not willing to work with me to replace it or consume some of the costs, and it is a safety issue. It has dies out in the middle of an intersection over 10 times and wont always re-start. Sometimes it takes 5-10 minutes, and other times it starts right back up. I was in the middle of a turn and the car stalled out and I almost hit the vehicle to the right of me. It is very dangerous and needs to be included in the lifetime warranty issued to 2005/2006 models.
The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler 300. While the vehicle was stopped, the engine sputtered and then stalled. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that there were strong fumes of fuel emitting on the outside and inside of the vehicle. The contact indicated that upon re-fueling the fuel tank, the fuel gage was not showing the fuel staying at the correct level. The contact noticed a leak under the vehicle from the rear to the front as the failure progressed and there was an abnormal noise when the vehicle was being driven. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection and diagnosis to determine the failure but the contact was not able to schedule a repair so the vehicle was towed to a parking lot due to the leak of the strong fumes of fuel. The towing company noticed an extensive leak and parked the vehicle. The contact received notification from the state to move the vehicle due to the fuel leak fumes being a hazard within the community it was parked. The vehicle was towed to a second dealer and they did not diagnose the source of where there failure was coming from and the vehicle was still at the dealers for weeks. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was waiting to determine how the failure occured and the remedy to repair the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.
Everytime I fill up my fuel tank or even put maybe about $30 worth of fuel in my car it randomly stalls out while driving. This has happened several times and has been dangerous. In intersections, after getting off a highway and while driving on the street. This is not safe. I have taken this car for several repairs. I now have a new battery, starter, and altenator. The dealer checked it and told me to fix this it will be $1100 or more and that may not fix the problem.
