38 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2014 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 04/15/2015

I purchased a Chrysler 300 year 2014 used from Chrysler dealer in mesa az. On 4/22/2015. The car was what we wanted and we also purchased the mopar extended warranty at the time. At the time of purchase no mention was made that the vehicle in question would not be safe at night to drive. I have had many conversations with dealer staff over last year and a half as to the problem with no result. Here is the problem when turning a corner at dark you lose all side vision if you are in an area without street lighting. Apparently Chrysler has built a car without lighting that lets you see anything that is not straight ahead. When I began to investigate this with Chrysler rep. As no one at dealership seemed to know about the problem we found the problem. You will see by the emails I have attached that Chrysler knows of problem. They even have an option to fix called steering directed lighting. However I am told it cannot be put on my vehicle. This is a major safety issue in that the vehicle is totally unsafe to drive after dark in an area outside of city lights. As you will see by attached emails I have tried to get Chrysler and their dealership to pay attention but they choose not to even test drive their own product. Also no one in authority from either Chrysler or their dealership has contacted me. Although I have been told several times they would get back to me from dealership. Anyone that would come to my house after dark and drive my car around the block would see that this car is unsafe. Thank you for any attention you may pay to this issue. 40 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2014 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 12/16/2014

The headlamps, both low beam and high beam, are very dim. The high beams don't illuminate anything on the sides of the car, just shine higher and straight ahead ( tunnel vision). I had the high beams inspected at a state certified garage. The mechanic said the high beams were odd, but within tolerance. The car is dangerous to drive at night, especially on rural dark roads, because the visibility is so terrible. This needs to be addressed. Driving home after I bought the car in December 2014, fog conditions exacerbated the problem.

41 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 11/10/2014

While driving app 55 mph at app 8pm at night my cars lights and all the dash lights went out and the car completely stalled. I was able to turn on flashers and coast the car to the side of the road. I sat there for several minutes and then the car restarted. Fortunately there was no one following behind me. I have been out of town on business and used a company car. Upon my return I took my car to our local shop today. They were unable to detect any problems, however shared an article stating more than 150,000 Chrysler owners have had similar trouble. They contacted the nearest Dodge/Chrysler dealer in aberdeen washington who offered no help or information. They could give no reason for the incident. We have not received any recall notice, nor information regarding any possible problems. How should I proceed? I am unable to drive my vehicle for fear this may happen again, and this time I may not be so fortunate. This has created a significant burden and stress. It seems someone should be accountable and that there is a significant liability by not being notified of this significant safety issue. Is this an issue I need my attorney to address? thanks in advance for your help. Kathy spoor.

42 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2011 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 10/31/2014

I was driving and my battery safe mode light was on. The vehicle all of a sudden began displaying other lights such as my engine light and a car with skid lines below it light. All of a sudden I lost power in my navigation system while driving my other lights began to turn ( mind you it is 9:30 on halloween night). My car begins to stall while I have my son, and 3 other children in the car. Luckily I was able to pull off of the road (safely with my lights out) into a school. Never one did I get a warning that my car would shut completely down. Turned vehicle off and back on in hopes of getting back up and running and to no avail. Had to get my car towed the following morning. This could have resulted in an accident had I been on my way home on a busy I-10 hwy. Luckily I was dropping my brother off and never made it on the hwy. Took the vehicle to the dealership and they told me it was my alternator. The vehicle was purchased brand new 3 years ago and should not be having this safety issue. Car is outside of warranty and I paid for the dealer to repair the alternator but when I requested my defective alternator back they refused to give it to me without paying them an additional fee. I wanted to take the altinator to get inspected by another mechanic for further inspection.

43 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2005 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 10/11/2014

Purchased this car in 2012 with a 3 month warranty. 1 month later lights started flickering occasionally. Then while driving 60 mph on local highway lights went out totally. Pulled off road and waited until they came back on. Took back to where I purchased it, they took it to Chrysler dealer and I was told it was "reprogrammed". No problems until last night when lights started flickering again. Just a matter of time before they go out totally again at night driving down some dark country road. This is a dangerous situation and hopefully no one will get killed before I can get this car back to a dealership, and this time I will have to pay for it myself. Apparently Chrysler has no interest in providing a permanent fix for this problem.

44 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2011 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 10/11/2014

On October 11, 2014 I had driven my car twice that day. That evening while dropping my little cousin back home, my car started sputtering, lights started blinking and the car cut off and would not turn back on. It was completely dead, no power or nothing. I am highly disappointed in Chrysler. I have had this car not even five months and this has happened. Now it's just sitting in my yard and I am having to catch a taxi to work. It to beautiful of a car to just sit there. I took it to the dealership and they completed a diagnostic and said it was the alternator and they want $800. 00 to repair. Can't afford to fix it, because all of my money is going towards taxi fare, and the warranty doesn't cover repairs. Just imagine if I were driving with my kids in the car and this happened.

48 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2011 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 07/05/2014

While coming a stop, the instrument panel showed a 'system error' light and the vehicle shut down. It would not restart and was completely dead. Traffic was impeded and a series of accidents were narrowly avoided. After towing it to the dealer, I'm told that the likely culprit is the alternator which "are known to go out on these cars, right around the expiration of the warranty," according to the service technician. Warranty on this part is 36,000 miles and my car was at 36,650 miles. After yelling and screaming, the technician said he could lower the cost from $1,100 to $900. When pressed, he said the price for the alternator alone was $600, excluding any labor. I am furious that this is a 'known problem' and yet there has been no recall and from the list of other complainants on this site, it's obvious that this is a consistent and dangerous problem. I believe that the NHTSA needs to review this problem and address it. My options are limited. I need my car back. Hopefully, when I get it returned to me, the problem will be gone. Buyer beware, apparently, this is a dangerous and pervasive problem.

49 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2010 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 06/15/2014

830am 6/2014 I was getting into my car starting it up put my gear in reverse to back out of my driveway and I heard a craping sound coming from my car I put the car in park got out looked under my car and the whole bottom of my car fall it never had a accident in the car so did not no how this could have happened. Also the door handles are very poor they stated just bracken off. I have spent so much money replacing parts to a car that cost so much money. I have a family I am also a foster mother and I needed something with lots of room but I had no idea that the Chrysler 300 was built with cheap materials.

51 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2013 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 02/21/2014

Just purchased used Chrysler 300 in clermont FL. From Chrysler dealer. Drove the car home to TN. Our home is rural area in subdivision on lake and most roads in this area are rural hwys. And streets. The day after getting home my wife and I went to dinner at restaurant approx. 25 miles away. By time we started home it was dark and immediately, as soon as I turned onto unlit state road, visibility on low beams was almost non exsistent going downhill and in dips. The low beams illuminate only 10-20 ft. In front of the car with almost no side illumination in dips and downhills. Other drivers with same complaint call it a shutter or tunnel effect and I agree. Side roads and street turns are very difficult as you can not see either readily. Since then my wife drove the car and had to come home in dark and said see nearly wrecked because of the problem and refuses to drive it at night. This is very serious and extremely dangeruse defect in design and must be addressed before (if it not already) serious accidents occur, reading Chrysler forums shows this is not knew problem with many compalints contributed to this situation.

52 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2008 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 01/01/2014

Ignition switch issue is still not resolved. I called Chrysler and they told me that there is no eta on when they are going to receive the parts to get my vehicle fixed. I have recently had issues with my car not starting at all in addition to the ignition switch sticking. I took it to the local shop and they fixed the ignition relay. After that, I received the ignition recall from Chrysler. Chrysler is refusing to reimburse me for the ignition relay as they indicated that, at this time, they cannot confirm that it is part of the recall (relay failed due to corrosion) as the representative was not sure what would need to be fixed in the recall ?????? Chrysler has also refused to provide me anything in writing of their denial of reimbursement for the corroded ignition relay. The representative would only give me her first name, jasmine, and no other assistance. She assured me that they would notify me when the ignition switch comes in and Chrysler has a record of my call and claim. This is not very comforting knowing that I am driving with a safety recall and ongoing issues; no estimation on when the parts are going to be ready; let alone when it will be fixed. Bad part in my car and dealing with a company that will not even give the courtesy of providing some type of documentation! I am required to rely on them to have a record of my individual issue when they cannot even give me an approximate date on when the parts will even be available. Unbelievable!!!!.

53 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2005 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 12/27/2013

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler 300. 55 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2013 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 03/04/2013

The lighting is so poor on rural roads that you must drive with the brights on. The low beams only work for the first 15 feet or so and then when going down a slight decline the far distance or "night horizon" just disappears like a curtain dropped down from the top of the windshield. You literally lose sight of the road. Same situation when turning. Its really scary. I spoke with the service manager and he said he drove one home and almost ran off the road. He agrees with my problem. I'm told there is no fix. If this is not addressed I guarantee there will be accidents with this car. I'm told if there are enough complaints something will be done by your organization. Help--I don't want to die for something like this.

56 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2012 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 12/07/2012

The contact owns a 2013 Chrysler 300 (n/a). The contact stated that when the windshield wiper switch was activated, the instrument cluster lights around the dashboard would illuminate, impairing the contact's vision. 59 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 11/02/2010

Lights flashing on and off this is the first time it has done it but I think that is enough cause this is a huge safety issue when your driving at night and all the sudden you have no lights and once I pulled over they still continued to flash on and off I will not trust this car for along time now after dark and that is really sad cause I really enjoy this car.

60 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2007 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 02/10/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler 300. The malfunctioned light came on the day after the vehicle was purchased. The light illuminated for one day, and the vehicle vibrated intermittently. 61 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2005 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 11/08/2004

Two days after I purchased my 2005 Chrysler 300 touring, all of the lights on the car began to flash off and on intermittently. Happens on interior and exterior lights. This is especially bothersome while driving at night, not only for the driver, but for the vehicles in front of me. I have had it back to the dealer for repair, but they cannot fix it. They are waiting until the manufacturer provides them with a fix. Meanwhile, I believe this to be a hazardous condition.
