Car Stall problems of the 2006 Chrysler 300C - part 2

101 problems related to car stall have been reported for the 2006 Chrysler 300C. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

36 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2014

After fueling my vehicle I drove about 300 feet away from the gas station, and my car completely stalled out without restarting for about 5 minutes. After getting the car to restart I drove for another 5 miles and the car stalled out again. After the second stall I let the car sit on the side of the road for about 10 minutes and turned it back on and drove away. This is not the first time I have experienced this issue, it has happened 2 other times before. I fear that if this keeps happening with no resolution from Chrysler people may have to report something worse than just the car stalling.

37 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2014

After re-fueling vehicle, car stalled at 5 intersections. Vehicle was difficult to restart. Vehicle would not always go back into gear after restarting until several attempts were made. After burning off a few gallons of fuel on the highway, the vehicle no longer stalled/misfired. Tank was not "topped-off" when filled, it was filled until the pump stopped automatically. Stalling occurs every time vehicle is filled to full.

38 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2014

After refueling the car it will begin to run, and idle, rough to the point that it stalls. This happens every time the car is refueled. Most of the time it dies while idling, but has died while driving several times. The issue is worse if the car is refueled from the point that the low fuel light is on. It will die several times when refueled from this low level in the tank. The car has died while leaving a red light and getting as far as the intersection and having to try to restart it while in the middle of the intersection.

39 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2013

Our Chrysler 300c had begun to stall out while driving with more than 3/4 tank of gas. We began to limit the amount of gas to never fill more than 3/4 tank. This lasted for approximately 6 months. In Dec, 2013 the vehicle began to stall at other times. I had between 1/4 to 1/2 in the tank when we were driving at approx 45mph when the vehicle began to stall then restart at first. Then it stalled entirely several times that evening as we tried to make it home. I had my 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters with me at the time. The next morning I took the vehicle to local dlr, lee Chrysler, were I purchased the vehicle. The vehicle stalled on me 3 times while I was trying to make it the 3 miles. The dealer had the car until 12-16-2013 when they advised that the proportional valve/purge vale needed replaced and that all of the updates to the system needed to be made. The total of this attempt to repair was $379. 45. The car immediately began to stall again so I returned it. They kept the car for approximately two weeks with their computer hooked up to it then advised that the pcm needed replaced this repair cost a total of $1,018. 61. The car was on empty so he offered to stop for gas. He filled the tank up then pulled out to 5 lanes of traffic and stalled. The vehicle would not restart for several attempts. I called the dealer and they wrecker after the vehicle. They had the car for one night and called us to pick up and run the gas out to 1/4tank. We were told it would not stall again because they had disconnected the emissions system. While I was driving the car on a very busy 7 lane hwy with my daughter and 3 month old granddaughter the car came to a dead stop in 40mph traffic. I was terrified but was able to get the vehicle to the center lane. They have now called and advised another sensor must be replaced. Someone is going to get injured or killed in this car.

40 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2013

Stalled several times while driving after filled up with gas.

41 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2013

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300c. The contact stated that after refueling, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure and current mileage was 81,010.

42 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2013

Car stalls after fill-up. Will stall even without topping off tank. This will happen when pulling out into traffic. Will stall multiple times and buck while driving for a time. Can not fill up tank.

43 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2013

After refueling the car, I was entering the main road from a side street, when the car started to buck and bounce. It eventually shut off. I started the car again and while pulling to the side of the road, the bucking and bouncing started again. I shut the engine off myself. I waited approx. 3-5 minutes and restarted the vehicle and drove it to the Chrysler dealership. This stalling/bucking has happened three times and each time the vehicle has been returned to the dealership.

44 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/17/2013

This issue has been happening for the last year or so. My car stalls for no reason it happens when I am backing out of parking spot, stopped at a light, entering or exiting the freeway, while I am driving on surface streets and when I am driving on the freeway. If I am driving on surface streets or freeway the car does not stall but momentarily dies (for a half second). My engine light flashes and all the gauges on the dashboard go to 0. The car will then come back to life and continue to operate normally but can "die" again a few moments later or not at all for days or months. It feels like an electronic issue but it is very difficult to say has there is no common characteristic between each incident and there does not appear to be any common environmental issue that causes it. The issue is intermittent does not happen often but happens often enough that it is a concern. Some days it will happen repeatedly then not happen for months. Lately it has been happening more frequently I have taken my car into the dealership twice. The first time they found no codes and could not determine there was an issue as the issue is intermittent. The second time I had a engine light and they found a code for tcm sensor but stated that was not the problem. They said I had too much transmission fluid that caused a sensor to malfunction, they removed the excess fluid but the issue has still persisted. The most recent incident did not trigger any codes.

45 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2013

After refueling the vehicle it stalls. The vehicle looses steering power. This has happened numerous times. I have tried to not let the fuel get to low and have tried filling the tank at different levels with no luck.

46 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2013

After fueling car, it stalls out. After restart will run and may or may not stall again. Not a very good thing to happen. Could become the cause of an accident. Dealership says no recalls on car.

47 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2013

After filling up with gas I went about 2-3 miles on us1 in wake forest, after stopping at the light at us1a I proceeded to turn onto us1a and my car stalled. I was in the middle of a lot of traffic and I had to manage to turn onto the side of the road and restart the car to continue to proceed. After traveling about another 1 to 2 miles it stalled again. This is the second time after filling the gas tank that this has happened and when the vehicle stalls I lose power steering which makes it very difficult to drive.

48 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2013

After filling up the fuel tank from a start of 1/8 th to full tank, the car stalled after leaving the service station about 200 feet down the road while stopped at a light. After getting the vehicle restarted I began to accelerate from the stopped position but driving power train was fairly erratic as the car attempted to lurch forward or accelerate unpredictably then would pull back by nearly stalling. This continued for several miles before reaching my driveway. The car while in neutral loped substantially from 2000 rpm to 100rpm several times before stalling. Attempting to start the car after stalling was successful. Leaving the car parked and off for 60 minutes had no beneficial effect. After returning the starting was very difficult and the instrument panel gauges were not lit until the car started again. The car continues to be idle erratically both while in park and in drive and at slow speeds.

49 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2013

After filling up with fuel at bp gas station my engine sped up 300 rpm and shut-off in the station. I restated it and it ran with a slight hesitation. I could smell raw fuel coming out of the exhaust. It stalled 3 more times within 20 mins. One time on a sharp curve in the road. I had no power steering; good thing it wasn't my wife driving.

50 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2013

If vehicle is filled up with gas until full car will stall shortly after fill-up.

51 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2013

I was pulling into a parking lot when my car stalled . I was able to restart and continue. But this happened again about a week later . After that I drove it for about a month and half , no problem ! I read a lot of the complaints and several people indicated that it happens when they refill. Well I kind of agree with that. Now its 11/01/13 and today I turned right into a parking lot and it stalled that was on Friday. Since then it has stalled several times but restarts ! I took it to the Chrysler to dealer on Monday. $700. 00 at end of day , was told the pc needed to be updated. And needed a tuneup. . Tue it stalled again. Problem not solved. Well today 11/05/13 its at dealer again. They don't know what's wrong with it. I love this car and I have taken very good care of it, its like new. Help?????.

52 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2013

I was on the way to a doctors appt with my pregnant daughter on 264 heading towards chesapeake, va. I was doing 55 mph and the tank was on 1/8 th of a tank. As we were driving, about 15 min later, the car lurched, a ding was heard, the etc light flashed, the rpms dropped to 0, then resumed a second later causing the lurching forward. About 3 to 4 minutes and intermittently over the next 15 min later, it did the same thing, but also stalled at the stop lights on the way there. No codes came up when diagnostics were put on it. The throttle control unit was replaced and a relearn was done, this did nothing. Same thing happened. I have read many other reports of this happening and no one has an exact fix for this. Also, may have nothing to do with this, but about 2 weeks prior to this happening, I was filling up with gas and the tank overflowed. No problems occurred through the next 3 or 4 fill ups, the tank was on an 1/8 when the first hesitation and stalling occurred.

53 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2013

After refueling, car stalls. This happens after driving approximately 2 to 3 minutes after leaving gas station. The stall has taken place at intersections, while at a complete stop and while driving no more than 5 -10mph after leaving the gas station. . Car restarts after several attempts in neutral. When each incident occurs, the oil icon comes on, however the oil level is not low. On one occasion after having backed into a parking space with the car gear shift still in reverse and my foot on the brake, the car lurched. The tires could be heard spinning. That was very scary because my car could have rolled into a busy highway. Once the fuel level indicates approximately a half a tank, no stalling incidents take place. Car was taken to the dealership with this concerned. Service advisor was aware of chyrsler 300c stalls after refueling. Fuel injection system was serviced/cleaned. This has not resolved the problem. Car still stalling. Really afraid to drive the car, however I am taking it back to the dealership to let them know of the still ongoing problem.

54 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2013

Car stalls after filling up gas tank has happened a dozen times or more. I have almost been hit on two occassions if the other driver hadn't ran into a ditch we both could have been killed this time. I know it's going to stall after I fill it up. I now get gas close to a large department store with access to there parking lot where I can drive till it finishes it's 3 to 4 times of stalling on fill up. Someone is going to get killed over this issue.

55 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2013

Vehicle stalled twice after filling up the gas tank, once exiting the gas station waiting for the light to turn green and another 3 minutes later at another light on the feeder road of the highway. I have never had any other issues as car is well maintained: oil changes with synthetic, air filter, transmission service, spark plugs, ect. I also only use 89 octane fuel as recommended in the owners manual.

56 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2013

5 minutes after filling up my 06 Chrysler 300c srt-8 6. 1l at a gas station I was crossing over traffic to make a left turn and my car died in the middle of oncoming traffic. It took several minutes to restart then lurched forward after put into gear. This is the second time right after filling my tank this has occurred. The time before it stalled merging onto interstate on ramp.

57 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2013

Purchased car used and within 24 hours had car stall on me totaling about 6 times now within 2 weeks. It has stalled everywhere from highway speeds to idling and while in reverse. Car starts back up without problem if put in neutral or park. Have had fuel injectors cleaned, new spark plugs ( manufacturer suggested copper) and all new ignition coils. Dealership said the stalling was caused by old spark plugs and worn ignition coils but continues to stall after all of these were replaced. It doesn't seem to matter what speed I am going, but seems to stall more when I reach around a quarter tank of gas. The car has stalled on me several times in traffic and while entering and exiting highway. I do not feel it is safe to drive especially with kids and family in the car, there is no warning of stall and is very unpredictable.

58 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2013

Vehicle stalled at major intersection shortly after refueling and would not restart and stay running. Had to be pushed out of intersection and off roadway by police. No codes appeared. Numerous restarts and stalls before car was drivable. Brought to mechanic who computer scanned for diagnosis. No codes. Problem has now recurred 2 more times immediately after last 2 fill ups. Most recent was reentering rte 23s near wayne NJ after filling up. Car stalled and created a serious hazard for me and passengers trying to avoid rear end collision while pulling to shoulder with no power. Very busy road with 50-60 mph traffic. Car would not restart and stay running - requiring 5-7 restart/stalls before it was drivable. Brought to mechanic for diagnosis again. No codes on scanner. Very dangerous situation.

59 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2013

My 300c stalled out on the freeway while accelerating during a traffic jam. It took a couple tries to restart the engine.

60 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2013

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300. The contact stated the vehicle stalled without warning numerous times, while he drove at low speed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer a diagnostic was performed and was unable to locate a failure code. The dealer reprogrammed the main computer system; however the failure was not corrected. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made ware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 66,000. Li.

61 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2013

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300c. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where the failure was unable to be replicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 90,000.

62 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

The car randomly stalls out and sometimes while driving at highway speeds all the lights will briefly flash on in the dash, immediate loss of power and violent bucking. This is ridiculous! it happens all the time. This is not the full fuel tank stalling issue. I already had the tank replaced. This happens at wot or at idle or in between. This car is unsafe to drive. I have no confidence in the car anymore. I still love this car, but I'm considering going on a crusade against Chrysler unless they do something immediately to fix this. Read the forums - many people are having the same issues with the 6. 1l and 5. 7l engines. No one knows what to do. Please help!!!.

63 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

The current issue with this model for me is the fuel. I just had a vapor canister installed that did not solve the issue but it did get rid of a few of the problems. When I first started having problems with my car shutting down after a fill up, I thought the gas had water in it but it's not the gas. No matter what station I fill up at, I have the same symptoms. The car will drive fine for about 3 car lengths, then it will hesitate, choke, jump, try to die, jerk forward and then finally stall and shut itself off. Then it will take 3 or more tries to get the car to restart and it may do the same things over again for another block or two. The bottom line is, in the first 3 blocks of driving this car after a fill up, I can expect just about anything and I know for sure it will die on me if I fill it up. If I only put in 3/4 of a tank of gas or less, I am safe but if I let the pump kick off on its own, I'm in trouble. The only thing the vapor canister did was stop it from jumping and jerking, all the other symptoms are still there.

64 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2013

Every time I fill up my Chrysler 300c it stalls out several times. The first few times this occurred I was almost killed in a wreck due to the fact it stalled in a major intersection. This is not safe and very frustrating. Chrysler is doing nothing to help. I read several complaints online and it just seems like a recall should be in affect. I trusted Chrysler when I purchased this vehicle to provide me with a quality product that they would stand behind but yet they won't. Please help they victims of Chrysler.

65 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2013

On 4 occasions since December 2012 (I purchased it 6/2012), my car has stalled after fill up, on one of the three occasions the car would not restart for several minutes. All four times that the car stalled, it was while I was in traffic and turning. The first time I was turning on to a major highway in daytona beach, and the car would not restart. I do not overfill my tank, I only fill it until the pump shuts itself off. I have had my engine codes checked and there is not indication of any reason for the stall. I have two codes, one for an ambient air temperature sensor, and one for an oil pressure sensor. Neither of those should have cause a random stall with no warning. My car is well maintained, and babied.

66 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

After refueling my 2006 Chrysler 300c it would shut off at highway speed. The car would shut off at a stop light or stop sign this happens only when the car is refueled. This has caused many safety issues because of the oncoming traffic and the car stalling in the intersection.

67 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

The car stalls randomly. There seem to be two scenarios when the stalls occur. One scenario is at idle (less than 1000 rpm). The car will just stall at a red light, at a stop sign, a rolling stop, when driving at very low speeds, etc. The other scenario is at wot. All the dash light s flash on and off quickly, the car lurches violently, loss of power, occasional stall. These two situations may or not be related to each other. I have had the fuel tank replaced already because of the stalling that was occurring after fuel fill up. That took care of that specific stalling scenario. There still remain these two stalling scenarios. They are very well documented in the online forums. Many drivers are experiencing the same symptoms. It seems to be happening to all 5. 7 and 6. 1 hemis in the 300s, chargers, challengers and jeeps. No dealers can find a definitive solution. I and many others love our cars, but this is just unacceptable. We don't want to give up on Chrysler, we just want a solution. This is a very dangerous situation. Our cars are stalling randomly. This is similar to the gm stalling debacle. Please help us prevent a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep debacle. By the way, thank you for your work in helping to find a solution on the fuel fill stalling issue. The lifetime fuel tank replacement was an adequate solution. I must note to you that included in the fix was a statement saying that "this did not represent a dangerous or life-threatening situation. " I disagree 100%. I almost died a few times due to the random stalling after fuel fill. We all know the dangers of random stalling - just ask gm car owners.

68 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 04/24/2013

After filling my gas tank, at 1/2 a tank, I pulled away from the pump and the car stalled. After restarting I continued on my way. Every time I slowed down for traffic, or a stop sign, or traffic light, the car stalled. This happened 6-8 times on my way home where the car was parked until the next day. After starting, the engine "spitted, and spurted" on acceleration. It then smoothed out, and ran fine, until this latest incident. Also, the last time the car was fueled, it would not accept gas, the hose kept shutting off. Tried another pump, same result, went to another gas station, same result.

69 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2013

Every time after refueling the vehicle to a full tank of fuel vehicle stalls and sometimes several tries before it restarts. Once the fuel tank level goes down about a gallon, the problem stops. This always occurs after refueling to a full tank of fuel. If I fill to about 3/4 tank the car can stall but not always. The only known fix to work all the time is a new gas tank for $1500 to install.

70 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 03/07/2013

Pulled out of gas station after refueling into heavy rush hour traffic, car stalled while turning making it very difficult to steer (if my wife had been driving she would not have been able to steer). Managed to put car in neutral and coast into medium. Put car in park and restarted car, pulled out into traffic and car stalled again. This time I put car in neutral and restarted while coasting. No more problems on this trip. Had the same problem 3 weeks later, pulled up to stop sign after refueling and car stalled. I put car in park and restarted, drove approximately 3/4 mile and entered stop and go traffic on freeway. Car stalled 5-6 times within 1 mile, each time I put car in neutral and restarted. Several times I was able to prevent a stall by watching the tach for signs of rpm dropping then putting car in neutral and pushing the gas pedal.
