36 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2014

I drove my 2006 Chrysler 300c hemi with my soon to be wife and 4 year old daughter to go food shopping and was low on gas after shopping I filled the tank up at a chevron station and as I tried to pull out of the station it died. It tool 3 tries and it started again then on the freeway as I was changing lanes it died again in the middle of traffic and I was scared to death for the safety of my fiance and small child I coasted to a stop in the middle lane because I couldn't get over either way with cars behind me honking I calmly tried to start the car and on the 3rd try it started and got us back to martinez. It died twice more at stop signs and a light. Very dangerious. I bought the car a week ago because my fiancé is 6 months pregnant. And I wanted her to have a 4 door to make it easy on her with the kids.

37 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2014

I was driving home from work and everything seemed fine. I stopped at the convenience store before I went home, so I turned the car off, went in, and when I came back out, the vehicle would not start. It was trying to turn over but wouldn't. Eventually I got it started for a few seconds and revved the engine a little to keep it from shutting back off, and it sounded like rocks were inside the engine, then turned off after maybe 3-4 seconds of running. Got it towed to a local chain garage. The next day they called me and said they got it running for about 30 seconds and it sounded like there were rocks inside of it and that its probably a broken rod, and that could have damaged much more inside. Now I'm not sure what to do with this car. The repairs might end up costing the value of the car, but selling it without an engine is basically worthless. I have no backup car to drive in the mean time, or money/credit to buy a new one. This should not have happened to a well maintained car with under 100k miles on it, and it seems to be a common problem. The company should at least acknowledge there is an issue.

38 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2014

I purchased my vehicle from car max used about 15 months ago and my vehicles engine has gone out already at only 85480 miles on it. I was told by the mechanic that my engine is about to throw a rod. I have researched this online and have found pages of complaints from people with the same vehicle claiming the same thing happened to their cars. When I spoke with the mechanic about this he said that he has seen countless customers with this issue and he has found that the valves in the engine are defective because they don't allow the oil to flow through the engine which causes the engine to go out.

39 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2014

On April 9th at approximately 6:00 p. M. I filled my car with fuel until the pump shut off. After replacing the fuel lid I drove about 1/4 mile and stopped at a traffic light to make a left turn. Almost as soon as I stopped the engine started to run rough, as if it were running out of fuel and stopped. I placed the car in neutral, started the engine and drove another block before stopping at another traffic signal. Again, the engine sputtered and stopped. I got it started and reached park manor nursing home and shut the engine off while I went to visit. When I left the nursing home, I went down the driveway and about 1/8 mile to a 5 lane intersection that had a traffic signal. The engine sputtered and stopped again just as the light turned green. I had to quickly put the car in neutral to restart it then carefully let off the gas pedal enough to put the gear shift back in "d" and drive away. This was the first time I experienced any engine stops, but it seems to be pretty dangerous, since you cannot predict when it will happen and nothing seemed to trigger the faults. Each time the engine stopped, I noticed the oil pressure indicator was displayed and watched it rise to normal when the engine started again.

40 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2014

Driving home from work on interstate and the car lunged and then seemed to be fine, until getting off the interstate and stopping at the light it was very obvious it was missing out. It did not throw a engine code until pulling into driveway. I immediately did a scan and came up with a p1414 cylinder 4 reactivation control performance possible causes (k452) mds solenoid no. 4 control short to voltage oil passages restricted lifter mds solenoid no. 4 pcm we then took to dealearship and they charged me a 125. 00 to tell me what I already told them. And followed up with they wanted to charge me 600. 00 to tear it down and inspect it further. So I did the tear down myself and there is nothing that can be found to explain why a car with only 92000 miles on it and 5-20 royal purple oil and k&n oil filter were changed on a religious bases, and clean coolant would cause a piston to basically destroy itself. The motor has to be replaced costing over $6000 almost more then car is worth running.

41 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2014

In January 2013 I needed a jump due to the frigid temperature. Following the jump my engine light would blink on and off occassionally. When I went to the dealership for a routine oil change on February 17, 2014 I explained this to the technician who stated that there was nothing the dealership could do if the engine light was not on at that time. Two days later on February 19th, I called the dealership to confirm what the technicial told me was correct. The service manager stated that the technican gave me the correct information and that when my engine light came back on to come back so that they could diagnose the problem at tha time. I also informed him that my receipt stated that I declined repairs which I did not. He stated that the language on the reciept was for general repairs and that I did not have to worry about it. On March 1, 2014 my car was smoking profusely. Because the dealership was closed I had my car put on a diagnostic machine by another repair facility who stated that my engine was locked.

43 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/11/2013

Electrical problem has been happening since purchase in December 2005. Sometimes power windows will not go up or down, lights on temp gauges and dash have burned out and heated seats occasionally get super hot. Headlights have gone out while driving even after replacing the switch and all the trouble lights have come on while driving down the road. Have taken to many different dealers and none have found any problems they say.

44 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2013

For the past several months, every time I fill up with gas, my car dies several times before I get home, which is about 5 miles from the gas station. Sometimes it will speed up without me pushing the accelerator just before it dies. It dies before I get out of the gas station, sometimes. Other times it dies as I pull to a stop at the light 1,000 feet from the gas station. The most recent occurrence was 2 days ago. I've had it to the dealership service department twice for this, but they can't find anything wrong. The fill up before this last one, I only filled the tank half full, and it didn't die, so it must be something to do with filling it all the way up. I don't top the tank off, either.

45 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2013

My husband filled up the tank on 110413 (already had 1/4 tank). I drove to and from work, but once I backed into the yard the vehicle would not crank again. As I revved the engine the car would act like it would continue running after the initial start up, but as soon as I took my foot off of the accelerator the car cut off. I had to have the car towed to a Chrysler dealership, but no one mentioned the issues that customers have been having with this specific vehicle (2006 300c with hemi). Vehicle is currently in the shop and the mechanic mentioned it might be the engine. . . Oh really!!!!!.

46 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2013

Going around a rotary in everett, mass. The car just shut itself off.

47 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2013

I had just refueled (filled up - did not continue fueling after the pump auto-stopped) and continued driving to my destination (about 3-5 minutes). I had just completed a left turn, approaching a red light, so I was "coasting" at about 15 mph when the engine died. Luckily, I was beside of a vacant parking lot and was able to veer into the lot and off the highway. However, in doing so, I noticed that I had lost steering capabilities and it was very difficult to steer the car off the highway. It was a good thing I wasn't driving at a higher speed and going around a curve, because I would've surely wrecked. The instrument panel was still lit up (compass, odometer, radio station, etc), but the engine light came on. After stopping, I placed it in park, turned off the switch and restarted the car. There was some hesitation, but it did start. Continuing to my destination, I could occasionally feel the car "sputtering" or hesitating like it wanted to shut down again, but it did not happen again before I made it home. However, on my way to work this morning and before I left my driveway, the car acted like it wanted to die again. I had backed out of my garage and put it in drive, slightly pressed the accelerator and it "sputtered". It continued "sputtering" periodically on my way to work (6-8 minute drive). I am really becoming very nervous about driving our country roads, in fear that it will shut down and I will lose the ability to maneuver the car to safety until I can regain power.

48 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

I had just refueled at the quick trip left the station and within one mile experienced the vehicle's engine cutting off and on. The tachometer would show that the enginewas going from 2000 rpm's to 1000 this happened maybe 5 times in a one minute span and then quit.

49 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2012

After filling the gas tank full I drove the car 1-2 miles and stopped at a traffic light and when I went to accelerate to go forward the engine completely died. I coasted to a stop just past the intersection and was able to re-start it. The same thing happened about a mile further down the road only this time I was not stopped, but driving and accelerating and it died and I was forced to coast to a stop and restart the engine. The problem continued for several days and then stopped. It happened again the next time I filled the gas tank up with very similar issues, and again stopped after the gas tank had used several gallons of fuel. I took it to the dealer and was informed that they would have to replace the gas tank (at a cost of $1600). The technician then told me that if I kept the gas tank at 75% full and not completely fill it I would have no problems. He was right, since these events in December of 2012 I have only filled it to 75% full and have had no problems. I am reporting this because I read in the dallas morning news on 05/16/2013 that this model of Chrysler is being investigated for the problem I have told you of. The description/symptoms listed in the news release seemed to match mine and I am therefore reporting it.

52 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2011

I was driving to get onto the highway going up the ramp and my car just died. The engine completely shut down. Had it towed to the dealer ship and they said that something in my engine exploded. They have not seen anything like it. Since then I have discovered that my car is not the only Chrysler 300 with that problem. 22 other people have had the same problem with their engine some of them having their car only 3 weeks. That is really a problem and very unsafe.
