I have a 2006 Chrysler 300c and it would shut off while driving. The fuel tank was replaced and the car still shut off while driving, without any warning. I took the car to another dealership and they couldn't figure out what was wrong,so they said they would have to send a star case to Chrysler engineer,to help figure out what was wrong with the car. They said it was ok to drive until they heard from Chrysler engineer. 16miles and 15days later when I tried to start the car it wouldn't start,so I had it towed back to the dealership and they started the car, then came out and told me I needed a motor. They the motor dropped 2valve seats. Something isn't right about this. I called Chrysler and they won't help.
Vehicle stalls in the middle of the road for no apparent reason. Vehicle stalled initially while driving 45 mph and I lost power steering and had to pull over to the side of the road to restart it. Dealer had vehicle for over 6 months and could not solve the stalling issue. Vehicle currently stalls while sitting at lights etc. Has not stalled lately while driving dealer finally released vehicle to me and basically said there was nothing more they could do as it was a manufacture issue.
It is extremely difficult to put shifter into park. It is usually stuck between r and p. I am required to forcefully pull shifter into neutral to start. This car has been plaqued with some type of electrical issue that I have spent nearly $1000 trying to determine. I am unaware if the problem is related, but my concern is when it appears to be in park, the backup light are on. I can push the shift to put into park. I have removed the shroud in hopes to figure it out. This car is a pain.
Takata inflator ,engine failure, fuel tank replaced vehicle wass shutting off while driving before fuel tank was replaced and after fuel tank was replaced. . Under a extended life time warranty. Took to another dealership in palestine texas told them vehicle was shutting off while driving and fuel tank was replaced by another dealership in tyler texas. They could not figure out what was wrong , they said it was ok to drive until they receive a response from Chrysler (a star case)or something like that. They said there was no response from Chrysler until one day ii went to start the car and it didn't start. I called dealership in palestine dealership, had it towed to them. 16 miles later and 15 days later,I was told I needed complete motor. Metal pieces in intake and 2valve seats had dropped. Later on 11/20/2015 had the head took off to confirm damages to the head and valves. Also on 12/19/2014 when vehicle towed in,they started the vehicle and was accelerating the car I was right there in the waiting room, thinking it's fixed, then come tell me I need a motor .
Purchased a 2006 300c srt8 in 2014. This is the 2nd time that this has happened. After the 1st refueling the car stalled and bucked and then after a few miles calmed down. I thought perhaps it was bad gas. During the 2nd refueling, with 93 octane, and just as the fuel clicked off, the engine stalled. No check engine light in either situation. The car was worse than the last time. The car stalled at each light all the way home. This happened approximately 4 times and then it stalled again as I parked it in my driveway. I called the local dealer concerning this and they said they are only ordering 6 replacement gas tanks a month and that 95% of the time an additional flex pipe or tube breaks during the repair procedure and that I would be responsible for this additional cost. What kind of a deal is that? I thought warranty work was to be at no cost to the consumer.
I purchased my 2006 Chrysler 300c on 8/8/2014. One week after my purchase I filled my gas tank and soon after the car would stall when idleing and/or at low speeds. At first I thought it was a fluke until it has continued to happen. I've spent the past couple of months doing research on the issue. My situation is exactly like the complaints that were made that caused the extended warranty for the issue. My concern is when putting my VIN number in it doesn't show the complaint. I wanted to lodge this complaint this way when I go to the dealership to get it corrected I have a point of reference. One day I had my seven year old son and 6 month old daughter in the car, it was raining and the car started to stall at about 35 mph I tapped the gas to prevent it from stalling. The temporary stall disengaged my traction control and I slid into on coming traffic. I was able to maneuver through it however my children could have died. I hope Chrysler does the right thing for me.
Walked out of the house to go to work. Car started fine but could not get it out of park. Got online found out their was a recall and this is a common problem. Called the dealership and they said my car is not under the recall. Now the dealership wants to charge me 350 to replace the shifter but its only a small part. If this is common why are all the cars on this recall?.
Park lock out failed. Unable to shift out of park. Richard.
My 2006 Chrysler 300c is burning a lot of gas. I don't know why, maybe because it is a hemi. When my gas hand get to a mark are two before empty, you can smell the fuel from the tank. My complain is why are Chrysler 300 burning so much gas?.
Very soon after purchasing the 2006 Chrysler 300c (used), it began shutting off while driving. Obviously this is incredibly dangerous. After "googling" is seems people all over with this vehicle have had similar problems, an some were attributing this to filing up the gas tank. We took due caution not to fill up the tank (how ridiculous is this?) and the problem has continued. An extended warranty was purchased from the Ford dealership we purchased at. After the run around about who actually "fixes" the car, it was taken to a Chrysler dealership who charged us $400. 00 for a battery and then replaced some wiring harness which did nothing. We are back at it with the dealership. I see an article in the la times on the internet saying to take the vehicle back to the dealership. That's not helping. We haven't put 2,000 miles on this vehicle in almost a year now. It is unsafe to drive and has no value. Help. Nhtsa obviously knows about this. . Read more...
My Chrysler 300c hemi started idling rough and showing code p0300. Oil/plugs were changed, and my car worked well for ~500 miles. After which the low oil level light chimmed. After taking to the dealer the oil pressure switch was replaced and all was right. Close to a month later, while stopped at a rail crossing the car stalled with error code p1520. I checked the oil which was low and added to the correct level. In the oil, there was no discoloration or anything to cause alarm. I started the engine up and while the p1520 was gone I had the p0300. After removing the manifold small aluminum pieces where found inside. Plugs that were close to 4k miles old were ash covered and throttle body. Valves and cylinder #3 head need to be replaced.
Experienced several occurrences of engine stalling after filling tank with gas. Engine died when stopped at a stop light and also while driving at about 10 miles per hour.
After filling up with gas the car stalled when exiting the gas station in front of oncoming vehicles. We were nearly rear ended. The car again stalled at the next stop light, then again while merging onto the freeway. We had a full tune up performed on the car thinking that this was the cause, however the car continued to stall after a fill up. We are now forced to limit refueling the car to only one half tank to be sure that the extremely dangerous stalling does not occur putting our family in extremely dangerous situations. The stalling occurred again just this week after accidentally allowing the fuel pump to click off producing a full gas tank. Even knowing that we were now in a dangerous situation we were forced to drive the car on public streets where once again it stalled exiting the gas station, at the stop light and shortly after trying to accelerate from the stop light leaving our family stranded in the middle of the intersection.
The below are inserts from my contact and correspondence with Chrysler corporation, and the Chrysler dealership I purchased my vehicle from about the issue with stalling after filling with my 2006 Chrysler 300 srt8. There is sufficient evidence listed and documented all over the blogs to Chrysler corporation’s online forum to indicate that this problem is well known by your organization and the dealerships who service our vehicles, and if you want to really won't to assist me in ensuring that this matter is corrected you can instruct and authorize airpark Chrysler Jeep to resolved my problem without further delay or the need to continue with further consumer complaints. As I stated above, this issue is well documented and falls on the responsibility of the Chrysler corporation and the local dealerships to rectify without all the run-around I am receiving at the moment to get this accomplished. My vehicle needs a new gas tank installed to rectify the problem and you can assist in getting this done by providing that replacement and contacting the dealership that needs to do it. Sincerely, subject: Chrysler update case#:24520627.
L- the contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300 c. The contact stated that the she was unable to shift the vehicle out of the park position. The vehicle will be towed to a local dealer for inspection. The vehicle has not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer has not been notified of the incident. The approximate failure mileage was 60000. - ll.
On 8/29, I picked my car up from the dealership for a repair to the body. When I attempted to start the vehicle, it turned over but would not start. After several attempts, I went back inside and made the service manager aware. He came out and after a few tries, it started. They told me they didn't know what was wrong with it but that it seemed to be fine so I could take it. I started the vehicle with no issue and took it to a nearby gas station to fill it up. After filling it up, it would not start. The vehicle was towed back to the dealership. It was at the dealership from 8/29 to 9/26. During that time, the battery was changed, the evap canister was replaced and the gas tank was replaced. When I went to pick te vehicle up on 9/26, it would not start. After several attempts and pumping the gas while turning the ignition, the vehicle started. I am now only able to start the vehicle if the gas pedal an pumped while the key is being turned. The vehicle has also attempted to stall several times since I got it back and doesn't have the power it had when I bought it. I have also smelled gas while driving immediately after accelerating. My check engine light is now on also. The dealer has requested that I bring the vehicle back to them and I fear that it will be there another 4 weeks and return to me in the same or even worse condition!.
Not an accident issue my car would not come out of park. I found out that a small plastic piece had broken causing the spring engaged lever system not to work. From what I could see online there was a recall #k39 - transmission shifter interlock lever - and when I called in reference to this (1-800-853-1403 shannon) I was told that the Chrysler 300 was covered in this recall but not the Chrysler 300c. I asked why the 300c was not part of the recall and was advised that they did not have any other informaton, there was not anyone else I could speak to and that my only course of action would be to file a complaint. So I am submitting this form in hopes of finding out why the 300c is not included when the 300c definitely has this issue. I had to replace the whole shifter because of this small plastic pieces defect.
I completely filled up my gas tank (not just a top off) Friday afternoon. After driving a few miles, while in the turning lane and crossing traffic my car shut itself off. The steering wheel locked up and I was unable to steer to safety. I had to put the car in neutral and "coast" to the side. Luckily I was turning at a turning light and there wasn't heavy traffic. This was very dangerous and scared me! I tried to start my car and was unable to do so. It wouldn't "turn over" the first time. The second time trying to start it, it didn't seem like it would start and then finally started. The only light that came on (after the car shut itself off) was the oil like. My oil is completely full. Was just changed a month ago using synthetic. I had a mechanic look at it and was told that there was nothing wrong with it.
The car randomly stalls out and sometimes while driving at highway speeds all the lights will briefly flash on in the dash, immediate loss of power and violent bucking. This is ridiculous! it happens all the time. This is not the full fuel tank stalling issue. I already had the tank replaced. This happens at wot or at idle or in between. This car is unsafe to drive. I have no confidence in the car anymore. I still love this car, but I'm considering going on a crusade against Chrysler unless they do something immediately to fix this. Read the forums - many people are having the same issues with the 6. 1l and 5. 7l engines. No one knows what to do. Please help!!!.
After filling the gas, the car shuts off. This has happened four times in the last three months. We have had the car towed four times for repair. Four times they cannot find an issue. This time the mechanic tells us to not fill up instead fill the tank three quarters.
After I purchased my 2006 Chrysler 300c on July 6th, 2013, the salesman filled the car up with gas. He had the car running & before I could get in the car, it switched itself off, not once but twice. The next incident was after the first time I filled my car with gas, which was July 26th, I drove to my next stop & my car switched off while pulling into a parking place. The next time was July 29th, my husband filled the car up & the car switched off twice!!! the next time was the next day, July 30th, I was at a red light & the car switced off. I have not made the 1st payment on the car, however, I am concerned with this major safety issue!!!.
The car stalls randomly. There seem to be two scenarios when the stalls occur. One scenario is at idle (less than 1000 rpm). The car will just stall at a red light, at a stop sign, a rolling stop, when driving at very low speeds, etc. The other scenario is at wot. All the dash light s flash on and off quickly, the car lurches violently, loss of power, occasional stall. These two situations may or not be related to each other. I have had the fuel tank replaced already because of the stalling that was occurring after fuel fill up. That took care of that specific stalling scenario. There still remain these two stalling scenarios. They are very well documented in the online forums. Many drivers are experiencing the same symptoms. It seems to be happening to all 5. 7 and 6. 1 hemis in the 300s, chargers, challengers and jeeps. No dealers can find a definitive solution. I and many others love our cars, but this is just unacceptable. We don't want to give up on Chrysler, we just want a solution. This is a very dangerous situation. Our cars are stalling randomly. This is similar to the gm stalling debacle. Please help us prevent a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep debacle. By the way, thank you for your work in helping to find a solution on the fuel fill stalling issue. The lifetime fuel tank replacement was an adequate solution. I must note to you that included in the fix was a statement saying that "this did not represent a dangerous or life-threatening situation. " I disagree 100%. I almost died a few times due to the random stalling after fuel fill. We all know the dangers of random stalling - just ask gm car owners.
Vehicle stalled once while driving about 20 miles an hour then once while starting from a stop sign, it shut off all systems.
The first time I stalled was after filling up my tank , I was leaving the gas station, I was in the right lane of on coming traffic when it stalled, nearly getting hit by an on coming car. Since that time it has stalled at least six times. I went to my Chrysler dealer who claims they had no knowledge of this problem. It happened again two days later while on a busy highway. I was making a left turn into a shopping center when it stalled , leaving me in the far left lane of on coming traffic. I immediately went to the Chrysler dealership and reported it again at which time I was informed there was still no recall on the car and I was told I would have to leave it. I am going back to the dealership on 5/30/13 (hilton head Chrysler, hwy 278 ,fording island rd,. ,hardeville, SC).
In September, 2010, while driving it, my Chrysler 300c began making a constant whining noise, especially while trying to accelerate. It stopped moving and I had to place it in park and turn it off. After restarting the car it would not accelerate and drive so it had to be towed into the dealership. The dealer told us that it was the transmission torque converter. So we had to pay $2926. 91 to have it a transmission and torque converter replaced. Since then the same problem has occurred 3 more times over a span of 3 years; the last time a week ago (not quite 7 months from the last time). The dealer is now telling us that we must have driven through a rain puddle and that water has leaked into out transmission fluid and will not cover the cost of the repair even though the problem is exactly the same as the previous 3 times and the parts and labor are still under warranty.
Vehicle often stalls after filing gas tank. Usually restarts right away. No check engine light.
The dealership earnhardts had me pay 100 in cash for a recall==automatic transmission cup plug 05v460000. I have receipt. The part that controls placing car in d, r, n. . . Was stuck in park. I had to get car towed and pay for the repair.
After refueling (not over-filling) the vehicle stalls, bucks while in motion, dealerships could not diagnose the reason. This happens every time the tank is filled to the point the gas pump kicks off. The dealer suggests the solution is to not fill the tank, which is a tactic that does work if you can predict how fuel you can pump before the shut-off. This is a safety issue because the stalling is not immediate and will often occur without warning once you have entered moving traffic. On line forums show this to be a wide spread problem with 300c owners. Apparently, many dealers are now suggesting the fuel tank be replaced as a solution. It is unknown if this actually solves the problem. On several occasions where this occurred I have narrowly avoided being rear ended by following traffic. I cannot imagine that no accidents have not been caused by this problem. .
When car is cranked and put in gear or stop car will go dead. When driving if I ease off gas and then reapply the gas car will stall which can be quite hazardous while driving. The problem was intermittent has been going since I have had the car thought the tank recall would fix the problem which it we thought had corrected the problem for a time. But it became intermittent at first it was every few weeks and now it does it whenever I drive the car several times as I drive recently I am now afraid to try and drive it especially any distance. The gas tank was replaced due to a recall. Have replaced fuel tank and thermostat. My mechanic isn't sure what is going on. I have seen various forums where others are having the same problems with their 2006 Chrysler 300 c's and have taken them back to the dealer and they have not been able to determine what the problem is. I feel this should be investigated.
