76 problems related to other fuel system tank assembly have been reported for the 2006 Chrysler 300C. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Cut off when tank full of gas can't put but 3/4 of a tank in it when are going slow it stalls out.
The fuel tank leaks fuel into the cabin amy any time the tank is filled more than half way up; that or any time it is more than a quarter full and driven on a steep hill. This has been happening for about 7 or 8 years or more now. . . It started in around 2012 I think, when the car had just over 100,000 miles on it. I am never able to fill up my gas tank because of it. , and if I need to go up or down a steep hill (and there are steep hills and driveways all over the area I live in), the fuel leaks into the car and the fumes are very strong.
When I fuel my car to full I start to drive and it stalls and will not restart. I brought it to the dealer and they said it is due to a faulty gas tank which is covered under a lifetime warranty extension u. S. D-14-05. They also said that it is possible that when they remove and replace the tank that the exhaust flex pipes could break which would require them to have to replace the pipes and the catalytic converters they are attached to. The estimated cost of this would be $3,300 and they would not cover this cost. This would mean that through no fault of my own if the warranty work is done and the dealership breaks the flex pipes I would be required to pay for the repair of those pipes and related parts. This is ridiculous, why would I have to pay for parts, which are fine now, but could be broken by the dealership when they do the warranty work? if you are going to extend a lifetime warranty on this defective part then why would you not cover the work and labor necessary to fix the problem especially if there are parts broken by the dealership when doing the work? there should be an additional cost coverage for all work done that is necessary to fix the problem not just the part and work to replace it as long as everything goes perfectly. If parts are broken by an authorized dealership when doing warranty work then those parts and the labor to replace them should also be covered. I am attaching the invoice from the dealership so that you can see the problem in their words. This is unacceptable! why would anyone have warranty work done if there are any other problems caused by the warranty work that are not covered. It does not say that these pipes are defective or worn it just says that they might break when doing the covered warranty work.
The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300c. The contact stated that while reversing, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was taken to bud clary auburn Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (2925 auburn way n, auburn, wa 98002) where the contact was informed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was not taken back to the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 155,000.
Car shuts down after getting a full tank at gas station at least 2 times.
Once the vehicle has a full tank of gas, it'll stall or shut off when driving. When stopped, it'll rev itself as well.
I filled my car up and within 5 miles it stalled. This has happened several times. Each time if I pull some fluid from the tank the car will remain running.
Initially the vehicle began to shut off and restart at various speeds ranging from 45-65 mph, mileage on the vehicle when the problem surfaced was approx . 138,000. In 2016 after replacement of the pcm ,fuel tank, alternator, solenoid, battery, and cam shaft sensor the problem sporadically reoccurred every 300 miles, and failure has increased in frequency and now occurs regularly but sporadically at low speeds of 1-20 causing a full stall with no restart. The failure is typically at a light and when tempting aa turn. It has been observed during the high speed incidents, all electrical systems are in failure- dash lights go off, the analog rpm and speedometer gauges spontaneously drop to zero, and then the entire system restarts and gauges resume normal readings, all occurring within a few seconds at most. Additionally the vehicle will not start after sitting for 3 hours, the electrical works but engine will not turn over. After each incident car was taken for a diagnostic reading and either no fault code was registered, or an engine communication failure code occurs. This has been an on going issue for the past 2 years.
Every time I fill up my gas tank my 2006 Chrysler 300c ends up turning off at any stop, red light, or when I am slowing down. I always end up stopping traffic because of it. The vehicle ends up turning back on after a few times of trying to turn it on. I have had people make scenes at my window due to this. I have read online blogs of Chrysler owners that have the same problem. They go to the dealer and replace the fuel tank. I have called auto parts stores and the fuel tank is pretty pricey. There are many more complaints on 300cforums. Com.
I own a 2006 Chrysler 300c. Since 2013, I have experienced issues with the vehicle stalling while driving at low speeds. The car stops completely, sometimes restarting on its own, sometimes it does not. Chrysler replaced the fuel tank in 2015, stating that was the cause of the issue, but the car continues to stall. Most recently, it stopped while merging onto a busy highway, while driving with my wife and children in the car. The car randomly turns off, no warning. Now the vehicle stopped and refuses to start at all.
When I fill my gas tank with fuel, for the first mile or so it keeps dying at slows to stops. Every stop or slow down for the first several minutes after fueling. It is a safety issue because it will die right in the middle of traffic or in a turn lane, and I am afraid I will be rear-ended. I have to put it into neutral or park to start it. Sometimes it takes 3 to 4 tries to get it to start when it has stalled like this. This happens every time I fuel up now. The first incident was in 2016.
About a month ago, I filled up my vehicle with gas. I had my nieces in the car with me, and as I pulled away from the gas station, the car stalled and shut off in the middle of the road. I got it to crank back up before getting hit. It didn't have much power but finally gained its power back. Every time I fill my tank up (not topping off, but stop once it clicks off) and I drive off, the car quits and has to be cranked back up. It appears to only happen when the car is filled up. This is happening only when it's filled up (which one needs to be able to do). This is scary and dangerous as when you pull off into traffic, the last thing you need is to have a car die on you and you get hit. Please help! I see I'm not the only person who is having this problem.
I bought my car in January 2015. As of December 2015 it started stalling. It would start jerking when I gave it gas. It would shut off when I either tried to take off from a complete stop or when I was just stopped or in the middle of me driving within 40 mph. I took it to the Chrysler dealership (not the dealer I bought it from) they diagnosed it was the wiring harness. I paid over $1200 to get it fixed. The same problem happened within 24 hours of me picking it up. It was there for almost 2 months, they said it did not do anything when it was there. Only said I needed a new battery. I had them replace the battery. Then it happened again about a month later. This time they diagnosed the fuel tank needed to be replaced. Once work was complete I picked it up and less than 5 minutes after leaving I was broke down again. This is the 5th time its been there in the last 5 months. Also I never received a refund after the mis-disgnosis! this is frustrating!.
2006 Chrysler 300c 5. 7l hemi: engline stalls if I fill the gas tank to maximum as I make r or l turn leaving gas station . Car will restart and stall again and again if/when I make a turn to the right or left until such time as level of gasoline in tank fails below the full mark. This is a problem on a long trip as it requies numerous extra stops for gas and stalling as I enter roadway or highway is dangerous for me and surrounding traffic/travelers.
The car will stall out at complete random times while it is in motion or sitting still in drive or in park. It has happened from 0 to 70 mph, it is completely random. I have read that this is a common occurrence on this model and Chrysler has extended the warranties on the fuel tank to lifetime but for some reason my particular vehicle doesn't fall under this circumstance despite it being the exact same year, make, and model listed on the documents. I do not feel safe driving the car because I'm worried about stalling in the middle of an intersection or highway and it causing a wreck and harm to me or my family.
My cat stalled at a red light after fueling up my gas tank.
Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300c. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph, the engine stalled without warning. After restarting, the vehicle was driven to the residence. The failure recurred five times. The failure only occurred after refueling to the full capacity. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine would need to be replaced due to the faulty fuel tank roll over. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000. Js.
Car stalls/shuts off after refueling after driving a while stall stops until refueling again. Took car to dealer they found nothing wrong with car, they charged me for replacement of the battery. Car did the same thing after refueling. Took it again today 2/15/15 and was told my car wasnt covered for the lifetime recall for the fuel tank float replacement, although im having the same symptoms for this year vehicle that clearly alot of other customers have had the same problem.
This has happened at least 3 times in the last 2 years. I would fill up with fuel and after leaving the gas station the vehicle would stall causing me to lose power steering and brakes and having to stop in the middle of traffic. I received a alert from Chrysler last year but have misplaced the letter. It stated that if I experienced this problem that I should take it to a dealer and they would replace the gas tank.
The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300c. While driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was coasted to the side of the road. After restarting, the vehicle, it resumed normal operation. The failure occurred only after refueling to the full capacity level. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the mechanic could not locate the failure. The contact was advised not to fill the fuel tank to maximum capacity. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
The car stalled right after being filled with gas. I restarted the car pulled forward and stopped for traffic and it stalled again. It restarted and went a few blocks and stalled again. I was able to restart the car and it did not stall again. I drove it home and have not driven it again. This is a know problem by Chrysler. They say it is the fuel valve and have replaced the tanks on some cars but not all that are having the problem. I intend to see if they will replace my gas tank under the warranty but others have had a problem with them covering it. Chrysler is calling their recall the x53 19 gallon extended warranty program. Thank you.
Once again I am driving my car and it stalled in the middle of traffic I was almost rear-ended with my son in the back seat becasue I got gas for my car. Chrysler needs to be responsible and fix this issue. I took my car to the dealership and they told me good luck with getting it fixed because the gas tank is on back order and they don't know when it will be in. I am an single parent and this is my only car that I have and I am afraid to drive it becasue it stalls. Now I am wondering if by suddenly losing power if this is going to affect the engine in the long run. I don't know what to do I guess Chrysler is going to wait until a family or someone is killed because the car dies in traffic until they do something.
Takata inflator ,engine failure, fuel tank replaced vehicle wass shutting off while driving before fuel tank was replaced and after fuel tank was replaced. . Under a extended life time warranty. Took to another dealership in palestine texas told them vehicle was shutting off while driving and fuel tank was replaced by another dealership in tyler texas. They could not figure out what was wrong , they said it was ok to drive until they receive a response from Chrysler (a star case)or something like that. They said there was no response from Chrysler until one day ii went to start the car and it didn't start. I called dealership in palestine dealership, had it towed to them. 16 miles later and 15 days later,I was told I needed complete motor. Metal pieces in intake and 2valve seats had dropped. Later on 11/20/2015 had the head took off to confirm damages to the head and valves. Also on 12/19/2014 when vehicle towed in,they started the vehicle and was accelerating the car I was right there in the waiting room, thinking it's fixed, then come tell me I need a motor .
I drove my 2006 Chrysler 300c hemi with my soon to be wife and 4 year old daughter to go food shopping and was low on gas after shopping I filled the tank up at a chevron station and as I tried to pull out of the station it died. It tool 3 tries and it started again then on the freeway as I was changing lanes it died again in the middle of traffic and I was scared to death for the safety of my fiance and small child I coasted to a stop in the middle lane because I couldn't get over either way with cars behind me honking I calmly tried to start the car and on the 3rd try it started and got us back to martinez. It died twice more at stop signs and a light. Very dangerious. I bought the car a week ago because my fiancé is 6 months pregnant. And I wanted her to have a 4 door to make it easy on her with the kids.
On the first of July I was preparing for a trip and stop at a gas station to fill up. On my way home from the gas station my car stalled while going down the road. I lost power steering, brakes, etc, and was lucky that I was able to bring the vehicle to a stop safely and get the vehicle home, stalling several more times. I looked on the internet to see if I could determine what had gone wrong and I found that there is a defect with the gas tank on my vehicle and that due to an agreement with the fed gov and Chrysler. It was determined that Chrysler was going to extend the warranties on this gas tank to replace the defective ones without a recall. I contacted my local Chrysler dealer and they ordered the parts and told me it would be approximately 2 weeks before a repair could take place. Two weeks later I contacted the dealer and was told that the parts were on back order. I wrote an email to Chrysler asking for clarification and I was told the following "according to our records your vehicle was included in the x53 19 gallon fuel tank extended warranty. Unfortunately at this time the parts to perform the x53 repair are currently on a restriction with the dealerships having access to order 1 part every 14 days for the one repair and 1 part every 7 days for the other repair. At this time we recommend continuing to work with your dealership to have this repair completed. " I has now been 4 weeks and I still to not have this vehicle repaired. This response is unacceptable to me and is a safety concern to me and I think for other drivers who have the same issue!! I ask the NHTSA relook this issue an address Chrysler to expedite replacement of the defective tanks before someone gets injured.
My 2006 Chrysler 300c is burning a lot of gas. I don't know why, maybe because it is a hemi. When my gas hand get to a mark are two before empty, you can smell the fuel from the tank. My complain is why are Chrysler 300 burning so much gas?.
Very soon after purchasing the 2006 Chrysler 300c (used), it began shutting off while driving. Obviously this is incredibly dangerous. After "googling" is seems people all over with this vehicle have had similar problems, an some were attributing this to filing up the gas tank. We took due caution not to fill up the tank (how ridiculous is this?) and the problem has continued. An extended warranty was purchased from the Ford dealership we purchased at. After the run around about who actually "fixes" the car, it was taken to a Chrysler dealership who charged us $400. 00 for a battery and then replaced some wiring harness which did nothing. We are back at it with the dealership. I see an article in the la times on the internet saying to take the vehicle back to the dealership. That's not helping. We haven't put 2,000 miles on this vehicle in almost a year now. It is unsafe to drive and has no value. Help. Nhtsa obviously knows about this. . Read more...
The 300 had a recall on the fuel tank, which was replaced January 2015 by tate in frederick MD. Since then the stalling issue has gotten worse. I took the car to tate 4 times, and was told 4 different diagnostics. 1= transmittion, 2= battery, 3=plugs & coils, 4=canister for extra fuel. I replaced the spark plugs & coils. Which didnt correct the issue. I took it to a 2nd dealer. Darcar's in rockville MD and they are now telling me that its the transmition control moduel & power control moduel. My car no matter if there is a full tank or a 1/4 of tank stalls when I am at idle. It can stall once or the max is 9 times. I have a 1 1/2 year old & 5 year old which is a safety issue. I found this forum, which are other people having the same issue & different dealers are throwing different parts. I dont think the replacement of the fuel tank corrected this true issue. Can you please help me with discovering the true cause and making the cars safe for the drivers and passengars?.
In may 2013, the NHTSA began an investigation (pe13-016) into numerous complaints about engine stalling in 2006 Chrysler vehicles equipped with 5. 7l 8-cylinder engines. In February 2014, Chrysler announced that it had developed improved parts to address this problem, and would extend the warranty period on 19-gallon fuel tanks to lifetime coverage for the 153,817 affected vehicles. In February 2014 the NHTSA accepted this solution proposed by Chrysler and closed the investigation. Chrysler sent me an email on March 13,2014 informing me, without explanation, that they would not honor their agreement with the NHTSA, and would not provide a lifetime warranty for my 2006 Chrysler 300c fuel tank,.
The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300 c. The contact stated that after refueling and driving 5 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The contact restarted that vehicle and the failure recurred one half mile later. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the fuel valve was damaged and the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,850.
Extending warranty on 19-gallon fuel tank to life-time coverage for 2006 Chrysler 300c vehicles equipped with 5. 7l 8-cylinder hemi engines that may stall after refueling. (see pe13-016) allpar. Com reported today that Chrysler spokesman eric mayne confirmed that the lifetime warranties for the affected vehicles "will be in place in mid-April". Looks like Chrysler is finally honoring its agreement reported by NHTSA (pe13-016) in February 2014.
Pe-13-016 covering 2006 Chrysler 300c vehicles with 5. 7 l hemi engines that may stall after refueling I spoke today by phone with "scott", a supervisor with Chrysler customer assistance (1-800-992-1997 and 1-905-440-7694). He told me that contrary to the announcement in odi resume (pe13-016), Chrysler did not begin mailing letters in January 2014 to the 153,817 owners of affected vehicles extending the warranty period on 19-gallon fuel tanks to lifetime coverage, he told me that the mailing (inot-pe130016-58863. Pdf) would in fact begin in April 2014. Owners of the 153,817 affected vehicles should look to receive this letter in April 2014.
Exactly like the situations described in the NHTSA investigation (pe13-016), my 2006 Chrysler 300c 5. 7l engine has stalled at low speeds on numerous occasions after refueling. My local dealer¿¿s service department informed me that my VIN is not included in the ¿¿select¿ vehicles that have been given extended warranties by Chrysler group llc in response to pe13-016. In order to correct the problem with my vehicle, the entire gas tank needs to be replaced. I contacted Chrysler customer service and they also informed me that there is no extended warranty on the fuel tank of my vehicle because it was manufactured in a different plant than the vehicles identified with pe13-016. Clearly there is an malfunction with the multifunction control valve (mfcv) fuel shutoff float at more than one manufacturing location. Although the NHTSA investigation determined that it is not a safety issue, the last time I refueled and pulled onto the street, the engine stalled and I was nearly involved in an accident. It stalled 2 more times during the same incident before it would drive more than a short distance. It is just a matter of time before there is an injury or fatality due to this malfunction. The car is not driveable if I am unable to refuel and drive without the risk of injury to myself or others.
Engine stalls at slow speed and at idle also miss fires at speed after refueling gas tank. It continues until a gal. Or so of fuel is consumed .
The car will stall every time after I fill up the gas. Yesterday I went to fill up the tank ( not all the way full ), after I drove about 1 block, the car stalled. I had to drive about 10 miles back home and the car stalled 8 times already. It was very scary because I don't know when the car will die on me when I'm on the road and cars are behind me and just very afraid of someone is going to struck me from behind when my car die on me suddenly.
