60 problems related to other fuel system tank filling/charging have been reported for the 2006 Chrysler 300C. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

Thx for your help. . . This happen 3 plus times. . .
My car stalls 3 to 4 times when filling up the fuel tank went to lake wales Chrysler dealership located at 21529 us-27 lake wales, florida 33859 tel# 863-676-0733 to get the shutoff float and valve and fuel tank replaced just like the NHTSA recommends it's been 4 months and nothing is happening.
Vehicle stalls when moving at low speeds after filling up the gas tank. The fuel shutoff float in the fuel tank is stuck open, causing an overfill condition.
On mulitple occasions over the last year and a half that I've owned the car it has stalled in traffic after filling up at the gas station, the most recent occasion being 2/11/17. On every occasion I have filled the tank (filling only until the pump clicks off), left the gas station parking lot and made it no more than 1/4 mile before the car stalls - typically it will lurch forward 1-2 times very hard, then stall - I turn the key off, then back on and the car will start without incident, however, the lurching and stalling will happen 1-2 more times before the car drives without any incident (until the next fill up). Only one time has the car stalled while in a stopped position (at a stop light), in all other instances the car was in motion on a city street (between 10-45mph) when the stalling has occured - on every occasion it has stalled more than 1 time (the most being 3).
The car will stall unexpectedly. Often when idling at a stoplight, and sometimes when I am driving the oil light warning comes on, the engine cuts out, and power steering ceases to work. I must restart the car and rev the engine before proceeding, it has yet to happen while driving at high speeds on the freeway. On more than one occasion I have had the local Chrysler dealership mechanics look at the car, and the problem still persists, usually with increased frequency after filling the gas tank to full. To reiterate, often when I am idling at a stoplight the Chrysler 300 stalls. But this sometimes happens when I am in motion driving down a road as well. The mechanics I have had look at my car have found nothing wrong. But it usually happens with greater frequency right after I fill the gas tank to full.
I have had my car for about 3 years and I noticed that when I filled up the gas tank it would cut off. I thought that I was putting too much gas in it, so I stopped filling it up. Then maybe 3-4 months ago it started acting as if it did not want to start or was not getting enought gas. So I started paying attention to what stores I went to, to get gas. Two days ago, I tried starting my car and at first it would not start as if it was not getting enough gas, but then it finally started and as I was in traffic, making a right turn, it just cut off and would not start back up. I later learned that it is an unlimited recall on the fuel tanks for my car. I called several chryslaer dealerships, and it seems that when I told them what the problem was and that there was a recall on it they said they were not able to fix it for maybe a month or two and one dealership told me that because I had more than 150,00 miles on my car they won't fix it.
After filling my gas tank, within minutes, my 2006 300c srt8 will stall or even shut off while driving, regardless of speed of vehicle. It does this at least 2 or 3 times. I feel this is a major safety issue.
When I'm driving around 55 miles per hour on the highway or bellow the car once to surge and stall in the middle of driving. It will also stall stationary at a red light or stop sign but not all the time, seems after filling my tank up as when it starts acting. I'm on a quarter tank now in my car still keeps wanting to stall.
Car stalls after filling fuel tank. The stalling issue has been happening for almost 2 years now. Online forums describe a known fuel tank gas fume evac system malfunction. Only known fix is replacement of entire gas tank. If tank is filled only 3/4's full, the stalling does not occur. Chrysler should be forced to recall the defective gas fume evac system and replace the fuel tanks. Cars stalling in traffic is extremely dangerous. Please help.
When refueling our vehicle, using the correct grade of gas, not topping off the tank and allowing the fuel pump nozzle to shut off automatically when filled, we are experiencing life threatening episodes of stalling out when entering traffic from a gas station, or idling in traffic, turning corners, and entering ramps to the highway it will stall and choke when we try to start it back up. We wait approximately 3-5 minutes before attempting a restart without engaging the gas pedal. But still nothing happens. When it shuts off we forcibly have to turn the steering wheel because you lose power to your brakes, steering, etc. And just pray that nobody gets injured. During the stall out there are no warning lights shown on the dashboard. Once we finally get it to hold a start, we must at high idle drive fast as possible, getting off the main road/highway/city street to immediately garage the car. Then we have to have it run with the garage door open for at least 2. 0 hours. And then we cautiously drive it with me following my husband to make sure it doesn't stall out again. Once we get pass this stalling-out period the car behaves properly, and we have no further issues until we refuel again on a weekly basis. We only have this refueling issue when filling the car. It indeed is a problem that the Chrysler group llc discussed in the letter we received may 8, 2014, in the 2nd paragraph "the affected vehicle population may experience a condition where the fuel shut-off float, in the multifunction control valve sticks, which may result in the vehicle stalling after refueling. This statement for us is definitely our problem. And we are planning to address it with the dealership ASAP. This has happened every week. The last time was October 30th 2015. We have now only filled it to the 3/4 mark and it has stopped stalling out temporarily.
Called Chrysler (1-800-Chrysler) about vehicle stalling after filling up gas tank after vehicle repeatedly stalled after filling up. I have a 2006 Chrysler 300c awd w/ 5. 7l hemi v8. Google search showed NHTSA action #pe13016 extending gas tank warranty of all 2006 hemi-engined 300's. Chrysler rep on the phone told me no such warranty existed after checking with supervisor. Had to call local dealership (gurnee Dodge) who was able to confirm that yes said warranty does exist and they would fix the issue. Incredibly disappointing that Chrysler lied to me. Car first stalled on train tracks near my house, and the gates on the crossing started to close just as I got the car to clear the crossing! scared the wits out of me!.
My Chrysler 300c has been stalling everytime I drive it. Ive taken it to two Chrysler dealerships. One of them charged me more then $300 for nothing because they couldn't even find the problem but ended up charging me for the time. The second dealership changed my fuel tank that Chrysler gave a lifetime warranty on. It did not fix the problem. The car is still stalling at every stop I make. I think the problem isn't with the fuel tank because it did not fix the stalling issue. I think that its something to do with the wiring or computer. I also think that Chrysler should fix this issue ASAP. They said it was the gas tank but its clearly not. Why should I be paying thousands of dollars for a faulty problem that isnt my fault. I take care of my car and its only got 140,000km on it. Chrysler told me that it would cost thousands of dollars to find the problem. Please let me know what I should do. I think that Chrysler said it was the fuel tank because that would be a cheaper way to handle with this issue other then spending hours to find the problem. Chrysler should be fixing this problem not me. The car has died on me while making a left turn in the middle of a intersection. That is not safe and it has happened to me more then 20 times. I also feel like im damaging my car everytime I have to turn it back on. It also guzzles the gas more just by turning it back on everytime. Please get Chrysler to do something about this. If the car still has the stalling issue after getting the gas tank changed then atleast get Chrysler to find the problem at no cost to me.
After topping off the gas tank the vehicle was driven two blocks where it was then pulled onto a busy access road in town. The vehicle was slowing down to a red light when the engine stalled for a moment, the oil pressure light came on, then immediately cut out and would not restart. After putting on hazard lights and attempting to call for a tow attempts were made to restart the car and after about 20 minutes of waiting the engine turned over and it was possible to pull the car off the road to a mechanic a block up. The car was scanned and no engine codes were found and oil pressure was found to be fine. The car was given a valve flush and started up fine after that. The incident repeated itself on 3/29/15 once more after filling up the tank, after going to blocks the car once more stalled and shut down. At this point I am very concerned for my safety with this vehicle if this is what is going to happen every time the car needs gas and this should be address with a recall after seeing so many complaints.
After filling gas tank, the engine stalls repeatedly. When it stalls, power steering is lost and car comes to stop sometimes in traffic. The engine then cranks normally. I took it to the dealer and they changed the egr valve which did not fix the problem. Suggested shotgun approach.
After filling my fuel tank, the car idled erratically, surged, and died multiple times, usually right after takeoff. This has happened every time I have filled my fuel tank for the lase several months, and has nearly caused an accident on more than one occasion.
This is not the first time this has happened. It started occurring 12000 miles ago. Today was the last straw. After filling my tank over this past year, I've learned that I can only fill my tank to 3/4 full to avoid the stalling and sputtering. This means I have to have my ignition turned on so that I can watch when the fuel gets to 3/4. This alone is a safety hazard as it could spark. Today I filled it to 3/4 forever it shut off at the pump just before it got to 3/4. . . When I started the car the full indicator was full. I knew this meant I would have a scary ride home. It stalled leaving the gas station and two more times while waiting at the first light. I made it about a mile and was making a right turn and it cut out at about 35. I was making the turn with no power and almost hit a pole. I put on my emergency flashers and was almost rear ended. Please explain why only selected VIN numbers were selected against pe13-016. Looking online there are multiple complaints and I did not see any owners who's vins were covered. Where is a copy of this list and how many vins were on this list? Chrysler needs to take a stand and own up to recalling all vins for this model make and year. I've never heard of a selected recall. I am documenting this safety concern everywhere I can as I am scared for my life and hope someone takes this seriously and quit blaming the owners of overfilling the tanks. This should not be a concern and it isn't with other models an make. Own up chrsyler!.
Stalling 2-3 times after filling tank up. Then will drive fine. Called Chrysler said there was no extended warranty to fix problem.
After filling the car up with fuel the car stalled and had to be restarted after stopping at a traffic lights. It also sputtered and wanted to quit running at approximately 55 mph. The car was taken to lustine Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and ram ltd. In woodbridge. We were told the fuel tank and carbon canister needs replaced because some flapper is bad allowing fuel to enter the canister on fill-ups.
After filling gas tank. Engine stalled and cut-off.
After refilling my gas tank to full, my engine stalls forcing me to pull over and restart my engine. This occurs only after refilling my gas tank and last for about the first 10 miles or so. Another key point is that it only happens at low rpm usually while I'm decelerating between 5~10mph. I see that these symptoms have been reported by many people. It appears Chrysler has an extended warranty, but when I've called the (800#) and visited my local service department they have no understanding of Chryslers acknowledgment. Is this a true extended warranty? why was this investigation closed?.
After filling up the gas tank, the engine will stall several times. When idling at a light or stop sign and sometimes when traveling at low rpms. This engine has stalled when entering the parkway nearly being rear ended. This has occurred for the past two months several times, only when I fill up the gas tank.
Experienced several occurrences of engine stalling after filling tank with gas. Engine died when stopped at a stop light and also while driving at about 10 miles per hour.
In January I filed a safety complaint on this web site regarding the stalling of my Chrysler 300c after filling the gas tank (odi # 10561779). Over the last two and a half months the problem has persisted, with the only way to avoid the problem was to only fill the gas tank to 3/4 full. On 2/24/14 I saw the abc news report that stated "us ends probe of Chrysler engine stalling" and the article states they investigated 1200 complaints and found 299 in which the fuel system allowed the gas tank to be over-filled. It also stated that "Chrysler updated the part in new cars and guaranteed it for life in cars now on the road. " when my Chrysler dealer (who has been taking care of my Chrysler since I bought it there new in 2/2006) was contacted, he stated that only certain VIN numbers were being covered. He told me I could call Chrysler and speak to them. I called the 1-800-992-1997 Chrysler customer service this morning. I explained about the stalling and that I had filed a complain back in December 2013 regarding the consistent stalling when the tank is filled. I explained my Chrysler dealer stated my car was not on their list, and to call Chrysler. The representative informed me that they were only fixing certain cars and mine was not one of them and that I could take it to the dealer and pay to have it fixed. When I asked if it turned out to be the exact same part that was being replaced, would they cover it, I was informed they would not. I am unsure what factors guided Chrysler on which cars to fix, but it appears that they have left out at least my car which has exactly the same described problem I have seen on the complaint web site.
After filling the car a Chrysler 300c stalls. This is now an ongoing problem as the car now stalls after fueling. The stall occurs mostly when stopped at a red-light or driving at a low rate of speed. It has now progressed to include when accelerating onto a interstate. The stall causes all safety systems to fail ie. Breaks, steering, et. I have called the local dealership and the Chrysler hotline 800-992-1997 and was informed that the national highway traffic safety administration, Chrysler will extend fuel-tank warranties does not apply to 2006 Chrysler 300c models. I was told the malfunctioning shut-off float and gas tank neck splash issue is not covered.
After filling tank, the car stalled on exit from gas station. The car stalled a few miles later after stopping and then trying to go. Filling the tank with gasoline has become extremely slow since then. 20 to 30 minutes to fill the tank. Most recently on 3/4/2014, the car stalled again when stopped at red light. The stalling and slow fill have been continuing since November 2013 and happening more frequently recently. The nhsta has a case number pe13016 which describes exactly my situation as a defective fuel tank valve. In that case, Chrysler has agreed to extended warranty on gas tanks for 2006 Chrysler c cars in the case file write up, but both the dealer and customer service do not acknowledge the existence of the case findings or the problem itself. I am hoping the nhsta will stand behind their findings and support the completion of manufacturers solution. Right now Chrysler does not appear to be honoring its solution.
After filling up the fuel tank from a start of 1/8 th to full tank, the car stalled after leaving the service station about 200 feet down the road while stopped at a light. After getting the vehicle restarted I began to accelerate from the stopped position but driving power train was fairly erratic as the car attempted to lurch forward or accelerate unpredictably then would pull back by nearly stalling. This continued for several miles before reaching my driveway. The car while in neutral loped substantially from 2000 rpm to 100rpm several times before stalling. Attempting to start the car after stalling was successful. Leaving the car parked and off for 60 minutes had no beneficial effect. After returning the starting was very difficult and the instrument panel gauges were not lit until the car started again. The car continues to be idle erratically both while in park and in drive and at slow speeds.
We had just filled the gas tank and were heading off to las vegas for a long weekend when as we drove less than a block away the car stalled. This never happened before, we restarted the car and she continued to jerk around acting like it was going to stall again. We were very close to a pep boys so we pulled in and told the clerk what was happening, he said we maybe got bad gas (maybe watered down) and to try a gas treatment. We did and it stalled again, we restarted the car and drove cautiously around town testing her reliability. She seemed fine so we drove on to vegas. She performed well for a few weeks then did it again after filling the tank so again we added gas treatment and things seemed fine. A month or so later the same thing again with the stalling after fueling. So far this has happened approximately 8 times since the first time and only after fueling. We are nervous to drive anywhere now. We have used various gas stations so not any particular brand makes this happen. It can go for several weeks without incident but we just never know when it may occur again. We looked it up online to see if anyone else was having similar problems and found that owners of Chrysler 2006 300c and magnums and chargers all experienced the same thing. Pe13-016 was referenced as the original investigation number into these occurrences. Chrysler supposedly issued a lifetime extended warranty for this problem but only to those affected and notified them prior to Jan. 2014. The rest of us are screwed. I am asking for this investigation to be reopened. Chrysler needs to be fair to all owners of these vehicles with this defect. I am the original owner and have taken excellent care of my car. Many people have stated that Chrysler is not acknowledging their complaints since the investigation is closed. Your help is needed to correct this injustice.
After filling up with fuel, the engine stalled shortly after. This has occurred on a regular basis when filling the fuel tank using regular unleaded gas. Several complaints duplicate this occurrence.
On 8/29, I picked my car up from the dealership for a repair to the body. When I attempted to start the vehicle, it turned over but would not start. After several attempts, I went back inside and made the service manager aware. He came out and after a few tries, it started. They told me they didn't know what was wrong with it but that it seemed to be fine so I could take it. I started the vehicle with no issue and took it to a nearby gas station to fill it up. After filling it up, it would not start. The vehicle was towed back to the dealership. It was at the dealership from 8/29 to 9/26. During that time, the battery was changed, the evap canister was replaced and the gas tank was replaced. When I went to pick te vehicle up on 9/26, it would not start. After several attempts and pumping the gas while turning the ignition, the vehicle started. I am now only able to start the vehicle if the gas pedal an pumped while the key is being turned. The vehicle has also attempted to stall several times since I got it back and doesn't have the power it had when I bought it. I have also smelled gas while driving immediately after accelerating. My check engine light is now on also. The dealer has requested that I bring the vehicle back to them and I fear that it will be there another 4 weeks and return to me in the same or even worse condition!.
After many incidents we have determined that after filling with fuel, the vehicle stalls many times in approximately the next 5 miles, makes the vehicle very scary to drive. Difficult to get the whole family and station attendants to understand that this car can not have a full tank of gas. Terrible failure that it seems Chrysler is ignoring. . .
After filling car with fuel and drive a few hundred feet car starts bucking and stalls. Restarts and bucks and stalls a few more times then runs fine until next time we fill up. We have stopped filling car up but just putting 10 to 12 gallons when we get gas. We cannot fill the fuel tank up or take a serious chance of having car stall in traffic as we had a couple close calls. I have asked beck Chrysler if there was a recall or fix for this and was told by service manger never heard of problem. I have read that many people are having same problems and only fix is to pay over a $1000. 00 for a new gas tank as this is only fix. I have replaced vapor canister and vapor control valve in engine compartment with no improvement. I feel Chrysler should fix this for no charge as it is part of the emission system and also worry my wife and I will be hurt or killed by this flaw in the fuel tank. I hope we can get some help to get this repaired. Thanks bill.
Vehicle stalled at low speed. The date indicated is believed to be approximately the first time this occurred. It has occurred about 6 times in the last two years, the last being on Jan 2, 2015. This last occurrence happened just after filling the tank, and within 1 mile. The vehicle stalled when approaching the entrance gate to the housing complex, again when arriving at the house, and once more while sitting idle.
After filling up with gas drove to stop light and car stalled. Had hard time starting. Took to pensacola Chrysler and the mechanic said we needed a new gas tank . 2100$'s.
Vehicle stalled 3 times after filling up the gas tank. Very close to a multiple car pile up behind me. Tank was not topped off and never has. Chrysler knows this is a problem yet refuses to help the owners of these vehicles. The gas tank is faulty, causing raw fuel to enter the evap system.
My wife drives this vehicle. Every time she fills it up with fuel, the car stalls in traffic 2-3 times immediately after she drives away from the gas station. It will however restart after a few minutes. She has had several close calls that could have resulted in a serious accident. At least once she was driving through a curve when the engine stalled, disabling the power steering where she was no longer able to control the vehicle to a safe stop. The first time this happened, I took it to the dealer and they told me it was my wife's fault because she must be overfilling the tank. They told me to tell her to let the fuel pump nozzle shut off the fuel when the tank was full and not put in any additional fuel after that. Well we tried this and it makes absolutely no difference. Then I carried it back to the dealer again and they told me that they had since found out from Chrysler that this was due to a defective fuel tank issue and the only fix was to replace the tank and associated parts at a cost of approx. $2000. If Chrysler knew that the fuel tank was defective, it should be fixed under warranty. Chrysler should not be allowed to get away with this. It is a serious safety issue and someone is going to get seriously hurt or killed if they haven't already! please help. Thank you.
