The horn does not work which in the state of new hampshire is a safety inspection item, and the dashboard lights work intermittently (not working more often than working) rendering the gauges unreadable at night. Not sure the exact date of the horn failure, but the steering wheel cruise control and audio controls stopped working, and I checked some forums that confirmed said failure might also disable the horn, and that is what happened. The problem occurs even when parked.

The a/c and heating function failed to fully function and the internal lights had randomly stayed lit when the vehicle was off with the key removed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who had been unable to provide a specific diagnosis, indicated that the failure may be electrical and the vehicle was not repaired. A dealer was not contacted yet. The VIN was not available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000. Dyd.

After starting my car before work in the morning, the drivers steering column/dash area burst into flames that were bright blue/white in color and unable to extinguish. The fire department report stated an electrical fire in the drivers dash area or steering column. This fire engulfed my entire car very quickly, and nearly burnt down my house! the car was in my driveway about 6 feet from my home. As it was burning, I heard the engine keep restarting itself as if something was going on with the ignition cylinder or system. It was stationary. Please help!.

1st time pulling into traffic it stalled I lucked out had momentum to make it across. 2nd time not so lucky stopped at light attempted u turn stalled half way through stopped all traffic it would not restart for 4 min. So the rest is the same story put in shop cannot diagnose. Very bad safety issue. Stalling and hard starting both intermitant and with out any warning and seems to happen more frequently (3 to 6 times a day).

1) a growing crack in dashboard above passenger side airbag. 2) heat/air cluster will not illuminate.
Was traveling in third gear when the transmission downshifted to second gear independently. Transmission locks in 2nd gear (limp mode) when slowing or stopping vehicle. Once you turn the car off and back on again, you can drive with normal gears. However, once you hit 50-60 mph, the transmission automatically goes into limp mode and stays locked in second gear. Check engine light came on and it now reads the codes p1776.
Dashboard developed a 10 -12" crack just to the left of the passenger side airbag. Do not know if the airbag system will work or not. In any event this seems to be a manufacturing problem, by the number of complaints. Dealer(s) are of no help as the vehicle is out of warranty. This vehicle has also had the common problem of the headlamps/instrumentation lights flickering. Headlamps would flash on/off along with instrument lighting. Headlight switch panel replaced, but the problem returned.
The contact owns a 2000 Chrysler 300 m. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the passenger seat began emitting smoke from underneath. The contact pulled over and put the fire out by pouring water on it and disconnected the seat motor. The contact had not called the manufacturer or the dealer. The failure mileage was 180,000.
The contact owns 2002 Chrysler 300m. While the vehicle was parked the contact stated that the headlights would turn on and off on without assistance. The radio, cruise control and traction control also turned on and off as well. The tire pressure light illuminated on the dashboard but the tire pressure was checked and there was not a problem. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the technicians were able to duplicate the failure but could not diagnose the failure since it was electrical. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.
Car stalled on major roadway. Once. The car was towed to my mechanic. They had the car four days. There was no code to show problem. Replaced cam sensor. Car is now running fine. I found out that this is a common problem.
The car was in the garage carport during the night. At about 5:25 in the morning the car start to burning by itself and it looks like an electricity failure has happened. The car burned all the front parts from the front bumper to the dash.
Just after the warranty expired for my vehicle both front speakers quit working. Now both back speakers are experiencing the same problems. A friend who has been a mechanic for over 30 years recommended me to this site. I see no record of similar problems but he said in his years of service he has never had to put 4 speakers in a car--especially one of the age and caliber of this car.
The preset drivers seat and mirror does not go to the preset position when the key fob has been pushed(unlocked) it works sometimes,(50%).
(1) my heater in my 2000 Chrysler 300m comes on every 8 seconds automatically. I took it to a mechanic and after two days, he advised that he cannot fix the problem. What he thought would be the appropriate part -- wasn't. (2) my dashboard on my 2000 Chrysler 300m has two long cracks in it. They are approximately 10" (or more) long. I am afraid that they may affect the deployment of the airbags, should they be needed. I believe this could be a safety hazard.
- the contact has a 1999 Chrysler 300m . While at a complete stop the vehicle completely lost power without prior warning. The contact was able to put vehicle into park and restart it. Then took it to the dealership. At the dealership they couldn't detect any failure. Also, on 01/25/07 while vehicle was parked, all indicator lights flashed.
2001 Chrysler 300 m had a crack in the vinyl of the vehicle's dashboard directly over the passenger side air bag. The dealer told the consumer it was a cosmetic problem, which her warranty did not cover. The consumer was informed that it could be repaired, but more than likely, it would crack again due to the vibration generated by the normal use of the vehicle. The consumer stated the vehicle also has an electrical problem. This involves the flashing on and off of the digital display on the radio when the lights are on. The display goes dim and then becomes bright.
Interior lights random and intermittently flashing and going off and on. Headlights affected also. Day and night.
Speedometer drops to 0, transmission stuck in 2nd gear, engine light comes on. This has happened twice in the last 6 months. A/c keeps going out. Thought it was a freon leak, but then the evaporator had to be replaced. A/c has now gone out again. Right, rear power windows are also not operating at this time.
While driving the torque converter failed. As the consumer accelerated, the vehicle stalled in traffic. The consumer had to place the gear in park and shift back to drive to make the vehicle proceed. The consumer was almost rear ended. The clutch on the torque converter failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the engine light. The consumer was told that the electrical surges caused the light to come on. This seemed to be a common problem.
The door locks on the front and rear have stopped working. I suspect the actuators are defective. Dealer is no help.
Originally the dash on the car would flicker on and off. For the last 16 months the number 7 fuse blows and takes out the dash and the tail lights. If you are driving at night it becomes a very dangerous situation. The dealers have looked at this problem a dozen times or more and it has yet to be resolved.
While traveling on the highway the vehicle light will shut off and the vehicle will shut down. Please provide additional information. Dealer is aware of the problem. Ts.
Consumer stated the vehicle was installed with an aftermarket bodyguard electronic corrosion control system, the vehicle's engine caught fire. (claim#51-0490-684).
