Front Seat Heater/cooler Problems of Chrysler 300M

When using the driver side seat heater, the seat overheated and burned the seat and the jacket I was wearing.

The contact owns a 2002 Chrysler 300m. While driving approximately 30 mph, the contact noticed that the right side of the front driver's side seat back rest was on fire and burning a hole through his coat. The contact was not injured. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technicians were unable to diagnose the failure and advised the contact that there was no defect in the seat heater. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

My wife was driving our 2001 300m when she smelled something burning in the car ,the lights started flashing,and it smelled so hot that she was afraid the car was going to catch on fire. She stopped and could not find the source at the time. After she got home we discovered that the heated drivers seat had shorted out and started to burn the seat back before power was cut off to the heating element. We took the car to the dealership to complain about a possible fire hazard. The service manager did not seem to concerned and would not cover repairs because it was out of warranty. It was never repaired.

While driving consumer smelled something burning. After checking the vehicle the wiring under the driver's seat was burning. Consumer proceeded to pull the wiring apart to stop the burning.

A fire started under the driver's side of the vehicle while driving at 40 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The cause of fire was unknown. The manufacturer agreed to share half of the cost to repair the seat. The heat mechanism in the leather seat burned through the seat and through the consumer's jacket.

Passenger side heated seat element has failed. I have Chrysler extended warranty, this item is not covered. To repalce is over $1000. 00.
