Loss of abs when applying brakes. This happens at all levels of braking, I. E. Heavy, medium and minimal braking. When loss of abs happens, the pedal decends to the floor and a buzz/racheting noise is heard. This problem has lead to potentially 4 major accidents. To solve the loss of braking, driver has to "re-pump" the pedal after loss has occured. (no mil/scan tool code recorded) .

Front disc brakes began making noise, mechanic checked and found the rotor surface was delaminating and informed me that this happens on all Chrysler Cirrus's they have worked on this year. This may answer some of the other complaints listed in this section. Also, the 15" wheels mounted on the lxi model Cirrus's, take 14" brakes. The suspension on the lxi is only designed for the 14" wheels, due to this effort on Chrysler's part to save money, the lxi owners are driving vehicles with incorrect suspension and wheels. This is on all Chrysler Cirrus vehicles, that is why there are steering, suspension and brake problems.

Consumer was traveling about 35mph on a highway street, and went to apply brakes and pedal went all the way to the floor. He passed the stop sign, there were no brakes. Then, as he rode down the street, three blocks later the brakes came back and the emergency brakes handle was up.
I reported this incident to NHTSA earlier. Odi id = 862355, never received a follow up questionaire. The damage estimate was to the Cirrus only. No idea of damage to the other vehicles. Brakes were checked by crown collision after repairs were made and no problem found. Stopping distance still seems longer than I have and still experience in my old non abs braking system car. Strongly feel accident would not have occurred if brakes were not abs.
While depressing brake pedal vehicle continued to travel. Brake pedal became hard. Dealer has been contacted, they were unable to duplicate the problem.
Abs; the front brakes are grinding metal to metal, have to start stopping ahead of time to make sure you are going to stop, 3rd time in the shop for brakes.
Brake pedal will intermittently go to floor, causing extended stopping distance and erratic performance.
When vehicle was cold and consumer pressed on brakes pedal lost brake power. Please provide further information.
Abs brakes have a tendency to fade, also grind in panic stops.
Equipped w/abs brakes; when brakes are applied the pedal descends to floor then returns to normal. Problem unknown w/dealership not able to duplicate.
Driver went to make a panic stop , applied abs brakes hard, but vehicle did not seem to stop ,causing a rear end accident. Please provide further information.
When applying brakes pedal stiffens and the vehicle does not stop right away. Dealer has seen vehicle, and cannot duplicate the problem.
