Three problems related to engine clicking and tapping noises have been reported for the 1999 Chrysler Concorde. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 1999 Chrysler Concorde lx. The contact was driving 40 mph when a clicking noise was heard from under the hood. The contact also mentioned that the check engine warning light was illuminated and the engine stalled. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where the mechanic advised that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileages were 110,727.
: the contact stated the engine started making a tapping noise while idling. The vehicle was towed to a dealership. The dealership determined the engine seized and needed to be replaced, however no repairs were made. The vehicle has been maintained including oil changes on a regular basis.
Engine light came on at about 30 mph and I heard a light ticking sound. Engine was shut down immediately and car was towed into a garage. I was told the engine seized , and would cost $5,000 to replace e it. My car has 87000 miles, but I contacted Chrysler anyway and was told they couldn't help . My car sits because I cannot afford the cost of a rebuilt engine.
