the vehicle hood remains closed, presently. In March 2012, I found a hood latch recall online, for 2004 Chrysler Concorde. I notified Chrysler that there is a safety recall no. C29 -- hood latch assembly for 2004 Chrysler Concorde. Chrysler said my car was not in the recall. They told me to mail my original receipts and hood latch failure information to them. Chrysler received my receipts. On April,6, 2012, Chrysler staff, told me that my vehicle is not under recall. I asked, "who does recalls?" Chrysler staff told me that the NHTSA does recalls. There may be other 2004 Chrysler vehicles experiencing hood latch problems. Please investigate this dangerous condition. Thank you.

While putting windshield washer in container hood failed stay up. Hydraulic lifter gave up, and hood fell, hit consumer in head. Then, trapping consumer's hands under hood.
It has now happened three times in the last four months; while driving on an interstate, my left foot will accidentally hit the hood release causing it to release; although the hood has not flown open to obstruct my view, it does force me to have to pull over in a potentially dangerous situation to re-secure the hood. I feel that hood release should be moved to a better location.

My son, a teenager and excellent driver, was driving through heavy snow. Car was in motion with minimal spinning of wheels. Smoke entered passenger compartment through vents. He turned off car and popped hood, which did not release. Saw flame in engine compartment through slits near wipers. Still could not release hood by hand at front of vehicle. Used snow to attempt to extinguish fire and was joined by person who completely discharged small extinguisher. Asked that fire department (fd) be called, and fd extinguished fire. Car was a total loss. Contacted daimler Chrysler same date and have not heard result of investigation. I understand there's no relevant recall, but car was in excellent working condition. I loved it and had no complaints. Now am forced to replace vehicle. Insurance has completely satisfied lease obligation, but I am disadvantaged as I must replace vehicle and I feel that the manufacturer must be at fault. Can you provide any info or assistance?.
